Here's another conversation starter (bored at work today):  what do we want to see from the next Kickstarter when it comes around?  Obviously (or is it...?) we all want at least one more alternate hero, since that seems to be the norm with each expansion.  Personally, I don't find the art prints to be compelling, or getting my face on a card, but I found the whole new hero and villain decks (with or without having to pay $5, I'm fine with either) to be very, very compelling.  And I found the alternate villains to be quite compelling as well.  Things like the oversized villain cards are probably a huge deal to some people, but since I play with my own oversized accessories, those aren't quite as squee-worthy for me.

So I'd want to see new brand heroes, villains, and environments available as rewards first, as many as humanly possible.  After that comes alternate versions of existing heroes and villains, followed by pretty much everything else.  What about you guys?

Personally, I would love to have my likeness as a character on a card.  I just don't have the $200-$300 to justify paying for it.

I prefer game content over anything else. So new heroes, villains, environments, and alternate heroes and villain characters.

The second best thing will be a new issue of Baptism by Fire.

All the other playmats, tshirts, art prints, oversized villains are really meh.

Extra game content.  And more comics.  Maybe some small Hero knicknacks (The Legacy Ring and Mister Fixer's Rook City ball cap anyone?).

Definitely bonus environment decks. I feel there are too few of them right now.

I'd like to stick up for the 'having your face on the card' bonus. It's a nifty, unique backer benfit and as it sells out within the first 3.7 minutes every time, it's clearly a popular one that drives more money to the Kickstarter.

I'd agree that I prefer in game content over art prints, but art prints are relatively easy to produce and dont' requite a ton of extra work whil in game content definitely does. Yes, I know I'm being boring talking practicality over cool but I'm like that.

However, for stretch goals, more environments is definitely on my list, as are more promo cards. I mean, we've still got 6 heroes and 2 villains to promo upo just from the base set. More heroes and villaisn, obviously, but the environments could do with more options, especialyl for a set with alternate realities. How much fun could you have with those in the environment.

I'd like more comic books.

I find the characters and setting compelling and the designers clearly have loads of great stories in their heads that we will never see fully through the card game.

Cheapass Games's Unexploded Cow has a stretch reward that will allow them to produce the game in the USA rather than overseas. (They might not get there; about ~3K shy with ~60 hours to go.)

After all the delays this last Kickstarter had thrust upon it, I think I'd kind of like to see that option.

Well, the last time a US manufacturer was used, we got the core set, with very thin, flimsy cards, and multiple problems (rulebooks missing, cards missing, cards sticking together, etc).

I don't know how doable it would be...and it would probably have to be a pledge x extra dollars like unity was, but i'd love a way to get replacement cards for the Matriarch card that got misprinted (I don't remember which card off the top of my head, but the one that is super low quality with her on the mountain top surrounded by birds

I'm sure future printings of rook city will fix it...so i guess i can buy them as replacement cards then, but just combining it all with a kickstart purchase i already want to make would be nice.

I like playing with dice and I went to a chessex dealer at PAXEast immediately after buying the game and bought about a dozen matching pairs of dice to use with the game. The Greater Than Games guys actually gave me hero and villain HP trackers that I've never used because the dice are so convenient. I haven't used the new token system so I won't judge it but everyone has different opinions on the matter. Friends of mine use a pen and paper for every target or they use pennies for trash targets and pen and paper for heroes and villains.

Of course I would like to see more content stuff as rewards, Alt hero and villain cards, new decks of every variety. Or even just cool stuff like deck boxes much like the ones that Spiff made, which I use and are always commented on as "the best idea ever".

One would guess that the Visionary would play lead in the Time & Space expansion (much like Legacy was lead in the core game, Wraith in Rook City, and...more of a communal Ra/Nightmist lead with Infernal Relics) thus potentially bringing a promo card for her.

As for what to hope for with new KickStarts, well...I'd like the oversized villain cards to keep happening. I had no idea that I would like them as much as I do, and I don't even have my game yet! Any extra decks and play materials are always excellent, and I enjoy seeing the art prints around the house.

I must say that the 'Get Your Face on a Card' thing is a great option, I find many of the cards that feature these people are easy to distinguish from the more comic-like extra characters, and in some cases it can be a bit jarring. GloomWeaver has some that really seem to fit, and I don't recall noticing anything with Rook City, so maybe it's just that there are simply more of them that I'm noticing.

Anyway, if it came down to no bonuses whatsoever, I would still have a smile just seeing more of the Multiverse fleshed out with physical cards.

That's my problem with it, mostly.  It's jarring to see the ones which are obviously supposed to be real people next to all the other comic book characters.

When you say you don't recall noticing anything with Rook City, do you mean the entire Rook City expansion or just the Rook City environment? The Organization/The Chairman has a bunch of real people in it.

To me, the awesome opportunity that they have for stretch goals is to create runners up from the create a villain contest as additional promo decks.

sure, it would mean more play testing work, but when they're getting dozens of submissions for the contest, there should be plenty of good ideas for additional promo villains.

Just thinking aloud...

Infernal Relics are just about at GtG warehouse. Next job is to ship them out to Kickstarters.

Villain contest ends 28th Sep.

Last year's Rook City Kickstarter launched on 13 Oct 2011 and ended on 27 Nov 2011. Final update on 19 Mar 2012.

Infernal Relics launched on 17 Apr 2012.

Essen this year, which GtG is participating, is 18-21 Oct.

I say the next expansion, if Kickstarted, will be in the mid Nov.

Christopher posted somewhere (I forget where; I think in the comments for the Create-a-Villain Contest news post) that they'd be running another Kickstarter "early next year."  I'd guess that probably means around March-April.  After the shipping crisis this year, I imagine they'd want everything 100% squared away well before the start of the convention season, so people can show off all their shiny new Sentinels Kickstarter rewards at these conventions so the interest and excitement (and therefore, sales) peaks.  Also, it would help promote the next Kickstarter (after the Time and Alternate Dimension Expansoin), because honestly, how could anyone who enjoys this game not think these backer rewards are freakin' rad?

Releases seem to be once every six months, and kickstarters (eventhough only two has ocurred thus far) also appear to be six months.  So, I'd say the Time & Space kickstarter should occur roughly the same time this year as Rook City kickstarter was last year (I know I was playtesting before early December) with a release next year close to the time Rook City was lauched this year.  (Of course, everything I say is conjecture, and I have no knowledge of the inner workings of Greater than Games.)

I certainly hope the next kickstarter is sooner, like in late October/November. They've got three of the villains done, the two heroes, and assuming it might take a week or so to come up with a draft of the contest winning villain, Time & Space would be ready to be kickstarted soon. At least, that makes sense.

Though Christopher did say a while back that >G would be having a sort of poll on the website on what project we want them to work on next. That's what (if you recognize the name) Project Tungsten is a part of, along with three more projects that we'll get a general idea for. They're all metals, so it's like Tungsten, Steel, Copper, and something else--the only name I know for sure is Tungsten, but they're just Project (metal). Though it's not like knowing the name "Project Tungsten" tells us anything.

He said two of those projects won't come around for another two years or so, but we'll mainly be voting on whether we want Tungsten or another option to be started. Though, one thing I vaguely know about Tungsten is it was mentioned when someone asked if >G had plans to make any other games, so if that's true, they'll ask if the fans want them to start this new game.

Oh yeah, and though I still stand by wanting hero/villain promo cards and promo decks as kickstarter rewards, I forgot to mention I too am a big supporter of continuing making oversized villain cards as a reward. Those are just so wonderful.

That's true! I did say that! But then we changed our minds. Rather than looking at three different choices, we've decided to make Project Tungsten first. We thought about which of the games we were considering would be the best representation of who we are at Greater Than Games, and also which we were most excited about . . . Project Tungsten was the clear winner. So, sorry for no poll after all, but you can trust us that we made the correct decision.

First let me say that I love this game and the world its created and am thrilled a small start up team is having such success.  I want to see more of this and to see it continue to grow.  I plan on getting everything made for this game.

But for the sake of the company, I think they'd be smart to start showcasing additional game lines along with Sentinels.  I would understand if they work for one Sentinels expansion a year with one or more other game (or other game expansions) being mixed in.  For the sake of the company, and for my own interest is what more this amazing team will do, I say bring on project Tungsten.

That said Novemeber/December is also Christmas season which means lots of other expenses, so I don't mind a later kickstarter into next year.

Oh, so Tungsten is go? That's cool. Though I will certainly wish we could be doing the next kickstarter soon and getting another expansion this spring, I'm fine with all new stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing what it is. And sure, it'd probably be good for >G to have more games in their library. I'm just so shocked (and happy) at how fast >G has grown. So more games means more business, and that'll mean more supporting fans like us.

I want to make a point on the oversized villain cards.

IIRC, it was mentioned that the oversized villain cards will be continued.

If that is indeed the case, then the new oversized villain cards of the new villains in Time & Space should be part of the basic Kickstarter reward level and *not* a stretch goal. For the sake of consistency and continuity, I hope GtG will not make this mistake.

There should also be an option for new buyers to easily add-on the older oversized villain cards.

SP

They could do with the oversized cards what they did with the alt. Ra and Fanatic cards for the latest Kickstarter, couldn't they?  Make them stretch goals, but make them very early ones so that the chance that we won't get them is very low?  They've said that they'll continue making the oversized cards available, but it's not like they're folding them into the base game or anything. They still cost extra to print (perhaps quite a bit extra), and so they seem like appropriate things to classify as stretch goals, at least to me.

I guess what I meant to say is, if they want to fulfill their claim to continue making oversized villain cards for future expansions, then there need to be a guarantee that this oversized cards will be produced. And the way to guarantee that is to make them part of the basic print run of the next expansion, and not part of a possible stretch goal print run.

I do believe that the oversized villian cards will continue being stretch rewards, but most likely a lower stretch reward considering how few they would have to make from here on out. Since the next expansion they will only have to make four of them, were in Infernal Relics expansion they had to have nineteen of them printed up. Not to mention since it is something everyone is excited for will almost definitely also lower it.

Art prints will probably be the first stretch goal again, followed by a promo hero card or two. Possibly the next two will the promo environment and the oversized cards, depending on which they decide first. Everything after that is just pure speculation and a mystery. Probably no more promo villian cards since all the current villians they have a pretty gnarly the way they are and the main reason for Baron Blade and Omnitron's promo was purely to make a more difficult version rather than just having them as intro villians. Maybe they will decide to do another issue of Freedom Four Annual?

I know we've kinda moved on, but I'm mostly positive Tungsten is gonna be a new game, especially since it only came up when questioned about whether they were making a new game. If it was Sentinels related, they'd have probably said something like "we're gonna change the way Sentinels is played" or something.

Tungsten could be Sentinels related but be a new game, using characters, etc. from the Sentinels multiverse… No idea, personally, just saying that it could be.

I hope they do continue the oversized villains, but I hope they throw into the next batch reprints of the existing oversized villains with typos fixed (like Dawn's being a "Citizen"). It's a small hope, but it's a hope none-the-less. :sunglasses:  I'm perfectly fine with making them stretch goals, though, as they really are a separate printing effort from the expansion printing effort.

I think Christopher mentioned in one of the podcasts that after two more regular expansions, there'd be two more SotM expansions that changed the way the game was played, so I think those will be the time when it's "Sentinels but different", rather than Tungsten being one.

They could take the more difficult villains and make alt versions that are less difficult.  It doesn't only have to go one way.  I could imagine a Matriarch or Chairman alt that's less brutal but still fun.

I wonder if this could be an official campaign play.  Or maybe introduce a team play between multiverses.  Changing how the game plays could be many things but i hope its just more to this game we love and not a new game entirely played with the same components.

Project Tungsten will be a entirely new game, from what it sounded like it will be outside the realm of Sentinels of the Multiverse. Though it will still be cooperative to show that they really like playing with others rather than against others. I believe it is set to be releasing GenCon of 2013 if I recall correctly. So it's just right around the corner and can't wait to see if >G will be able to pull off another successful game. My thoughts are that they will.

Not to mention Warlord Voss… picture a version of him that is going around "eating" new species to adquire their genetics and add it to himself. The more minions in his trash, the more powerful he is, and upon flips he kills his own enslaved minions to regain HP and get a temporary boost. Heroes are actually forced to choose very carefully which minions to defeat to keep his trash pile small. He would probably be just as tough… just opposite.

Ok, Im with everyone on the oversized Villain cards.  Also, I want the new HP trackers for Relics characters and whatever the new expansion will be.

But my main concern is room.  I hope that maybe not the next kickstarter expansion, but the one after that, they make a new box with the same dimensions as the Enhanced edition with great artwork from all the expansions so that we have more room to store our new card sets and tokens.  Maybe make it a smidge taller to hold the oversized villain cards, HP trackers and rule books comfortably.

Aside from that, new villains and hero decks akin to Unity and Ambuscade.  Plus a new environment, maybe one that has the players sucked into a digital world and battle across the internets.  Maybe some plastic markers for the HP trackers.  Or some official campaign booklet with story challenges and whatnot.

I was referring the to expansion as a whole. With the Chairmain especially, the guests were isolated and thus felt just like another character. Having the henchmen as guests is great, and they (as well as the other guests) felt more in tune with the comic-y feel. Jut like Spiff mentioned, I think it's just when established characters and guests are side by side that it's jarring.

Anyway, good times! And Tungsten! And I haven't been here in what feels like forever! Hello!

I do like the oversized villian cards, but there might not be too many which need to be printed with the new expansion. Additional Oversized cards that would be handy are an "All Heroes" and "All Villians" cards for the purposes of placing those +1 Damage Dealt or -1 Damage Taken tokens on. Not to mention a group shot of all the current Heroes (or Villians) in one picture would be pretty fricken cool.

Along the lines of the "All Heroes" and "All Villains" cards VVolf suggested, I'd love to see some kind of team promo cards that grant increasing abilities according to how many team members are in play. These would be small advantages that would add up representing team synergy. For example:

Freedom Five

The following take effect when 2 or more Freedom Five members are active:

When Tachyon is active, one Freedom Five member may draw an additional card each round.

When Legacy is active, decrease damage dealt to Freedom Five members by environment cards by 1.

When Absolute Zero is active, Freedom Five members are immune to cold damage.

When Wraith is active, one Freedom Five member may redirect up to 3 melee damage taken each round.

When Bunker is active, increase projectile damage dealt by Freedom Five members by 1.
