Sleeves and the Enhanced edition

So I've seen a comment that the new enhanced box will hold the base game in sleeves. Does anyone know about the expansions as well? 

Will it hold all ~1200 cards sleeved in something like penny sleeves?

It won't hold everything in NON-penny sleeves. I don't know about penny sleeves.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what sort of sleeves to buy? I don't play CCG and I've never sleeved any of my other card games but my group is playing SotM so much that I'm already starting to see a tiny bit of wear.

Thank you for the link. I checked out that thread but it was posted before the Enhanced Edition so I wasnt sure if the advice was up to date. I want to make sure what ever I get will still fit in the awesome new box.

The sleeves I bought for my EE cards are beautiful and wonderful and feel and look great, BUT they are bigger than absolutely necessary and my cards no longer fit in the EE box.

If you care about continuing to use the box, I would get a ruler and take careful measurements of the sleeves and the box yourself.

Used what the CCG guys called "pro fit" sleeves. Very very tight fight, but the cards do fit -- mostly. :/ The tiniest tip of the card sticks out but we can fit every card into the EE box except for one hero deck.

I found that Rook City cards don't fit inside the pro-fit sleeves, and Infernal Relics cards only barely do. Mind you, if you're prepared to ruthlessly crush the top of your sleeves into the box, everything sort of fits.

I just got done sleeving all my cards. Mayday Games, 63.5 x 88 mm, premium sleeves work perfectly for all 3 sets.

Do they fit in the EE box?  Because I just got done sleeving EE, RC, and IR last night with penny sleeves and they only fit if I put them in vertically…which is kind of a bummer.

I used Dragon Shields for the entirety of SotM.  They were a very tight fit around the cards without a lot of "overhang," and initially they fit very snugly into the channels.  Unfortunately, as I continued sleeving, I found out that the sleeves were actually bowing the middle of the box out ever so slightly, meaning they didn't fit so well as you neared the ends of the channels.

I think I'm going to get one of those big square three-channel card boxes CCG collectors use and decorate it with a huge SotM logo, and use the game's boxes as decorations (as posted elsewhere on this forum), alongside the framed art prints.  I plan on cutting one of the channels and capping the two to make a single large space for rulebooks, tokens, and oversize villain cards. Another criteria is that the big CCG box must fit the included official SotM dividers, since those things are awesome!

Not even close. I had to make another box (I prepared ahead) that holds them all. It is a shoe box, and has all the cards in 3 rows, and it STILL doesn't have much room left over.

I plan on using the FFG sleeves, the issue I am having in finding a deal to buy the 1000+  sleeves that I will need.

Have we come to the conclusion thus far (to any and all SotM Forumites' knowledge) that there are no sleeves snug enough to fit in the EE box along with RC and IR?

That is absolutely correct.

I've gotten mine to fit sideways without much issues.  It's with penny sleeves.  Seems to be a little pressure on the sides(left and right), but it seems to be on the inner lining and not the box itself.  Will see how this holds up.

But that's also without hero and villain cards, as I keep those in the hard plastic top loaders in one of the expansion boxes.  Also 3 decks (villain and enviroments) aren't sleeved yet as I ran out of penny sleeves, but should have plenty of room as I have one of those foam bricks in there.

I finally accepted the fact that I couldn't sleeve the game and use the awesome Enhanced edition box - so I went to the local comic shop and spent $13 on eleven packs of 100 sleeves and a card box similar to the game box but taller and longer. It's not pretty but it's portable. 

This is weird, but I got everything, including both expansions, to fit in the EE box, with the insert, using the basic 100 pack of sleeves from Mayday.

I’ll double check later, but I fairly certain that the cards are not being crushed in any way (perhaps the very top of the sleeves?). But they’re all in there, with a tiniest bit of wiggle room to get things out.

Did they fit sideways?  Because with penny sleeves they only fit standing up.  The box doesn't close all the way, of course, but it's not terrible.  Are Mayday sleeves terribly expensive?

They're sitting sideways, like they should. Box closes fine. They do seem to want to slip to an slight angle, but I haven't noticed anything wrong.

There's even a bit more wiggle room to get he cards out then I previously thought.

Does anyone know any website that ISN'T sold out of sleeves? I've checked Mayday, Fantasy Flight, Amazon and not certain where else to look.

Yeah, their Card Game sleeves have been hard to find for a while.  I finally found some on http://boardgameguy.com/.

Did any of you guys have any trouble with some of the cards or sleeves fitting tighter than you were comfortable with? I got my sleeve in last night (Thanks Khedron!) and started the great sleeving. I noticed it mostly with the Rook City expansion cards that I was having difficulty getting them into the standard sleeves. My wife actually bent Spite (insert angry pun here) trying to get him in.

Well, despite my comments in the other thread about how happy I've been with Mayday green Premiums, I have recently encountered a difficulty. I sleeved the majority of my Enhanced Edition, Rook City, and Infernal Relics with them, but I had several packs of sleeves that appeared to be "too short".  I went so far as to complain to Mayday about it, and they sent me replacement packs (yay!).  However, today I got my replacement Ra/Tachyon/Tempest deck, and I started sleeving with those tonight, and lo and behold, they are too short too.  Just as I was about to rip Mayday a new one, I went ahead and measured them.  They are EXACTLY 88mm tall.  This APPARENTLY means that all the other ones I used on Enhanced Edition, Rook City, and Infernal Relics must have ACTUALLY been cut just a bit too long.

I dunno if they changed their machining and now they cut more accurately, but all 8 replacement packs are exactly the same size, so it seems like Mayday green Premiums just won't work anymore :(  My question is for those of you using the FFG sleeves.  They are also LISTED at 63.5mm x 88mm, so I was curious, do you sleeves overhang at all, or are they RIGHT at the top of the card (I prefer just a little overhang).  I know the smart thing would be to buy a pack and check first, but I know lengths can vary slightly from pack to pack, so I wanted to know what others' experiences were.

Have you measured the sleeves that fit? As in, aren't there actually a bunch of cards that are too long? Because there are some minor differences in card length in my set (nothing as spectacular as we've seen with some people). Not so much that you notice it during play, but it would come up when looking for the perfect sleeves. And well, it seems they are better at measuring at Mayday then at the place where they cut the Sentinels cards :P

Yeah, the sleeves that fit are 90mm, despite coming from packs that SAY 88mm.  The cards themselves seem to be 89mm, so yes, for perfect cut sleeves, they are, in fact, too long.  As I said, apparently, I got lucky and managed to purchase approximately 1200 sleeves that were "too long", but all the ones I've bought recently are "perfect".  Essentially I actually need more defective sleeves :|

That's why I was curious about people's experiences with the Fantasty Flight Sleeves.  Do they tend to run "perfect", or do they have a bit of slack, since approximately 2mm of slack is what I need.  I've already checked both Mayday and Fantasy Flight, and no one makes sleeves that are 90mm, but maintain the appropriate width.

The most annoying thing I noticed about the Fantasy Flight sleeves is their tendency to not be the same length from pack to pack.  I essentially need a different pack to cover each deck component if I don't want the sleeves to mark the cards.  However, almost all of the sleeves are longer than the cards.  (Trying to get Mr. Fixer to fit was hard for some reason.)  Overall, I'm very pleased with the FFG sleeves, with only the inevitable complaint that they don't fit in the EE box.

Just as another note to everyone else, I got my Mayday sleeved cards to fit in the EE box. It's super sad, but Wraith had to join the Environment and Villains on one side though.

I encountered this with my vertical standing cards.  I had enough space for Visionary to keep her company, though!

Same here, except Absolute Zero was the one banished to the other side. (And, unfortunately, the tokens no longer fit in the box.)

I used two bags from the sleeves to store the tokens and keep them in my dice bag (I find dice to be better, but the rectangular tokens are great!  I just can't part with those damage counters.  They're so colorful!).

Just received EE and IE today and began happily transfering all my 1st Ed. card sleeves to the new edition.

However, I must say I was disappointed when I noticed that the EE box couldn't even hold a single card straight in the sleeves  (they must remain at an 20º-30º angle as someone else mentioned). I didn't really expect it to hold all the cards (I use high quality sleeves which are thicker), but I expected to store at least some cards there.

I can understand that it can be hard to accomodate all the possible variations (unsleeved, cheap sleeves, high quality sleeves), but it's a shame because it has been done quite successfully before and I sort of expected that it here too. Thunderstone has pretty much the same system, (the dividers are actually the same size than the ones in sentinels) and everyone (both sleevers and non sleevers) seem quite happy with it.

To check it out, I took my Thunderstone boxes out, and lo an behold, the sentinels cards fit snugly there. The thunderstone box is quite similar except that it is 5 mm wider than the EE box. Who said size doesn't matter?... May I suggest an increase in box width of the same magnitude in future expansions/editions?

Also, I'd advise the guys saying they are using tight "Pro" sleeves (i image you mean "ultra pro" brand sleeves), you're probably using either yu-ghi-oh or custom boardgame size sleeves, which are slightly different from than standard size used by SotM. I'd advise against that, because it can damage your cards. In the short run, there's an increased risk of damaging  your cards while sleeving (by bending and creasing or damaging the card by nicking or tearing the border as in enters the sleeve). In the long run, the top is exposed and naturally damaged by shuffling as if unsleeved and each card may end up bending forward or backwards because of the very tight longitudinal fit.

Any way, I'm obviously happy to have purchased EE (envioronment art rules) and can't wait to finally try IE.

Hey, I just managed to get the cards to fit horizontally. I just had to remove and cut the lateral black cardboard sticking to the outside of the box and now the space is just enough. looks like i'll be able to use it after all. Hope this helps

Yeah, I did the same thing.  With the "extra" cardboard cut off the sides, it works great.

Ah, thanks for the idea, let's see if the box will comfortably hold my unsleeved(!) cards after that modification.

I'm very curious to see everyone else's box. After sleeving, all of my cards fit in comfortably with no issues. I'll try to get a picture up of them as soon as I get home. 

They're Ultra-Pro "Pro-fit" sleeves, 64mm * 89mm, and are definitely not Yu-gi-oh sleeves, which wouldn't fit at all. It seems like 64.5 * 90 would be the ideal size.

Well, I'm not taking those cards back out of the sleeves.

I did something similar but instead of removing the long sides I removed half of the inner divider. I did this as my sides were fairly secured to the box. I took a razor and carefully cut along the creased fold of the middle divideron both sides so that I could take the entire divered and short sides out of the box. Then I cut the divider in half along the creased fold and the butterfly taped the bottom back into the bottom of the box. I did this because if you don't recenter the divider you end up with one half still too narrow and it will cause the one side to bulge. I resecured the short side back to the sides from the half I put back into the box. With the other half that I cut out, I cut the short sides off and then resecured those back into place. I'll try to take pics of the final product tomorrow and post in the evening.

I have both penny sleeves and the just the right size Ultraprp sleeves and they both fit just fine. Now to get more sleeves and see if there's enough room lengthwise.
