Dear paul (and everyone),
I had a question on the upgrade PDF. In the first kickstarter update you mentioned that you will release a PDF in which we can print the changes to those holding the first edition of the game…as well as the HP and other tokens that will come with the second edition.
I was wondering when will you release that PDF. More importantly, if you would mind releasing the tokens now. It seems you are testing them already, right? If you release them now, we can all test them and see if they are enough, or find possible improvements, etc…I understand that the new versions of the cards cannot be released yet (rebottard has probably not finished improving the cards, etc…), but I see no reason why not releasing the tokens right now. Specially, it might motivate more people into backing the game, right?

That’s true, that would turn everyone into a playtester for the tokens.

This is a pretty good idea.

Can somebody link me to the spot where they said they would send updates of all of the changed cards? I’m really waffling between buying the Expanded Edition and just buying the Upgrade.

I have a question about the tokens. Will they (hopefully) be printed with the same info on their fronts and backs? I only ask because I would hate to have a sheet of tokens that have individual token info on the fronts ("+1 damage dealt", “all damage fire”) but they all say “Sentinels of the Multiverse” on the backside, so that when you go looking for the one you need in the baggie you’re storing them in, you’re staring at a bunch of identical logos and have to flip each one over to find the one you’re looking for. No bueno.

I would second Spiff’s request. Tokens double sided would be very useful.

I wouldn’t mind double sided, but with a twist. Something along the lines of maybe “+1 Fire” on one side, and “-1 Fire” on the other.

Two sided tokens would be great…
In fact, I would like to test the case in which we have some tokens that have + on one side and - on the other. Then we have tokens with 1 and 2, tokens with damage/absorption and tokens with fire/toxic. With these 4 tokens we can create 1 toxic damage absorption, -2 fire damage, +1 toxic damage, etc…
I do not know if this is practic or not (since this would represent tokens flying around)…but at least I would like to try it

I assure you, the tokens are all double-sided. We have a very solid number of tokens in each box, but we want to be able to get as much use as possible out of all of them.
The more utility, the better!

I agree, the more utility the better…but the faster it is published, the better as well!! We wanna see them NOW!!

A suggestion.
There may be a need for counters to track hard to remember order of played cards.
For instance, people might forget Close Quarters Combat or Imbue Fire was played earlier.
My suggestion is to have 10 chits. 5 of them red on 1 side, yellow at the back. The other 5 blue on 1 side and green at the back. Then for each set of 5 chits, on the same coloured side, they are numbered 1 to 5, while on the back, they are numbered in reverse 5 to 1.
That is, a Red 5 will be opposite a Yellow 1, Red 4 opposite Yellow 2, and Red 3 opposite Yellow 3.
This way, the 10 chits can be used to track up to 4 orders of play up to 2 or 3 card sequences.
Let me just say, the tokens should be awesome. I’ve been using credit chits from Galaxy Trucker during the playtest and it is soooo much easier and more intuitive to track the hp than using dice or the hp cards (as gorgeous as those were).

Currently I use poker chips for tracking HP. It is also nice when you deal 10 hp damage to your opponent and you get to remove him a big chit.
I handmade some with +1 damage, etc…but it is a bit messy. I look forward to the official verison

You folks did see these, right?
The Enhanced Edition of Sentinels of the Multiverse will include 120 round tokens and 42 rectangular tokens.

Christopher – Not sure if you missed the point that if there were tokens ordered one through five, they could be used to track the order that some cards had been played – particularly when those cards are played from different decks.

Ah, I did see that, and it’s a fair point. Unfortunately, at this point, we couldn’t include something like that in the Enhanced Edition box. However, that doesn’t mean something like that couldn’t happen - we’re just too late to make it part of the official core game re-release.

What about making the tokens different sizes for different numbers? That was one of the main advantages I found when using a pile of change.

For those instances, you just put down the “All damage = Fire” token if Imbued Fire was played later, or “All damage = Melee” if CQC was played later, no need to track the order since damage modifiers only apply after the type is finally determined.

You could also put the tokens in the same order in which the cards were played.

That was the idea of my request. Had we been able to try the tokens before the enhanced edition is prepared, we would have been capable of sending feedback and our ideas. Well, for third edition, I guess.
By the way, what are tokens going to be? I guess the round ones are hit points…but what about rectangular ones? only those that are in the last figure? or will we have things like “end of turn effect”, “X damage to highest hp hero at the end of turn”, etc…?

So we have additional tokens, some of which will be different in then those in the EE, as a future stretch goal on the Shattered Timelines kickstarter. Elsewhere in this thread was an idea for a set of numbered tokens to track the order cards were put out (1, 2, 3...) as one example of additional tokens. What tokens would you find useful that we don't already have?
Also, looking at the graphic above from Christopher...there is a Use an Additional Power token pictured. I just double checked my set. I don't see any of those. Were they taken out before printing? Am I blind?

My guess is that the 'use an additional power' was removed because it was uneven (all the tokens have two sides, each side containing one of the effects, and pairing the same effects together), and the other extra related effects to 'use an additional power' (i.e. 'play an additional card' and 'draw an additional card') were not on the list, making it the oddball one.
My guess anyway.

I hope that Shattered Timelines has more +/-1 Damage Taken tokens. It's a very common effect when you're fighting certain Villains, or in certain environments.
