There have been a number of complaints/questions about shipping in various threads on the forum, so I wanted to provide updates/answers to the comments I have seen, as well as provide a single place for people to comment (and me to check) if they have shipping issues. As you might imagine, everyone here is much busier than normal, so this will help to take something off of Craig's plate. In no particular order:

  • Web store orders are now, and have been since mid-December, being processed in the normal way (i.e., they are being printed and shipped in the morning of the next business day after the orders are placed, and the order status is updating in the web store). If you placed a web store order for promo cards (or anything else) in the last month, the shipping status has not updated, and you have not received your order, please send me an email with your order number at paul@greaterthangames.com and let me know what is going on.
  • Web store orders placed during the Holiday Promo Sale prior to mid-December have all shipped, but their status and tracking information has not been and will not be updated. Unfortunately, given the way in which our web store is written, when we receive a large number of orders, we can either process them as efficiently as possible and never update the status, or take three times as long to process them while updating the status. This is something that I really wish were fixed, but we do not have the resources to do so in the short to medium term.  If you placed a web store order for promo cards (or anything else) in the last month, the shipping status has not updated, and you have not received your order, please send me an email with your order number at paul@greaterthangames.com and let me know what is going on.
  • Villains of the Multiverse is now in the process of being shipped. We have everyone working on the ship-out as fast as possible. and my very rough guess right now is that everything will be shipped out in three weeks.
  • For the EU, all of your orders will be shipped out on the same day (probably in approximately 1-2 weeks), and, if past experience is any guide, will take approximately 1 week to arrive. You will definitely not pay any VAT/import/etc fees on delivery.
  • Copies of Villains of the Multiverse will not start heading to North American distributors until after all North American preorders have shipped, and will not start heading to EU distributors until all EU preorders have shipped.
  • Because Battle for Broken City has been delayed longer than expected, people who bundled Villains of the Multiverse with Battle for Broken City will have their Villains of the Multiverse portion of the order shipped once the rest of the Villains of the Multiverse preorder has shipped.

I hope that answers the majority of the questions, but if you have any others on this topic, please post them here!

I received my copy of VotM on the 2nd.
While the artwork and promo alts (Naturalist, Sentinels, Scholar, ChronoRanger) were in the box, the other preorder goodies (bonus villain & environment decks) were not.

Are these shipped separate, or am I out of luck?

@Pydro

All of that other stuff is lumped in with the VotM ship-out, so it is on the same schedule.

That was almost certainly a shipping error on our part, which will will remedy asap! Send me an email with your order number and the details and I'll take care of you.

You'll still get VotM 3-4 weeks sooner than if you hadn't, which is about the delay we advertised during the preorder.

Paul, I must've missed the part of the preorder where it said that paying for multiple shipping waves would only save 3-4 weeks compared to paying for a single one.  That might've been because I initially only paid for one shipping wave, so I wasn't heeding details like those.

(When preordering Villains for me and my friends, and one copy of Broken City for me, I asked if my Tactics stuff from the Kickstarter could be further delayed to combine shipping with Villains, keeping my single shipping wave from the preorder for Broken City.  My request wasn't refused until five months after I made it, and only after I sent a message reminding GtG that I'd asked.  At that stage, in August, not wanting to make my friends wait what I expected to be months until Broken City was released before they got Villains, I paid for an extra shipping wave.  But I had no idea it would only mean a difference of 3-4 weeks.  I think they could've waited an extra few weeks for the sake of saving me $40.  If I'd been making my decision during the preorder, I mightn't have missed that information.  It's hard to think how I could've handled this any worse or wasted more shipping money than I did.)

@Estelindis, I think the 3-4 weeks is the time it will take for them to ship the copies of VotM that were ordered with Tactics stuff and have been separated, rather than Broken City coming out in 3-4 weeks. If I'm reading everything right, were they not to separate the orders like this, it would still take months for the VotM stuff to be shipped.

@tracerbullet23, a lot of the updates come from signing up with the FedEx shipping manager. I did that, for instance, and learned that my Villains set is expected this week. I didn't get an update directly from GtG (and don't expect one).

Okay, I'm starting to get worried; still no word from FedEx. I made sure to place Broken City on a separate order, so I shouldn't be one of the ones that has to wait for the second wave, but I still have no confirmation that it's even been sent out yet.

Sometimes.  The USPS has a separate tracking system.  In my experience with Amazon shipments originating with UPS, after the package has been handed off to USPS, UPS's tracker will stop updating, but it will display the new USPS tracking number.

Am I reading this right? Since I ordered both Broken City and Villains, I have to wait for all three weeks of preorders to ship out before my copy of Villains will ship out? I preordered back in March and am basically being asked to wait another month? Why is this not being shipped by date of order placed?

P2

If you ordered them together you only paid shipping once with the idea you wouldn't get either until both were available.  People who made separate orders for VotM paid shipping just for that.  So while you will be waiting for VotM until other orders are shipped you are getting VotM much sooner than you otherwise would have.

I'm in the same boat as some others here. I had a combined order of sentinels and tactics with single shipping. I read there would be split shipping but I have not received a notification as of yet. I emailed gtg , so I guess it's a waiting game now. Are those how had combined single shipping the last to addressed, if that is so it makes sense. Just looking for some clarity or if something is needed to be done on my part. Thanks.

Looking forward to the next wave of sentinels

I tried contacting through the contact form, but had no luck, so I'm hoping this helps. If the answer is no, I totally understand, but it's worth a shot.

I had a problem when I initially preordered VotM, and ended up having to add the 2 mini-expansions as a separate order. Is it possible to combine the two, or is it too late? I don't need a refund on the extra shipping, I'd rather >G save the excess shipping cost (or, you know, convert it into the Oversized Villain Cards I forgot to order, but while I'm dreaming, I'd also like a unicorn.)

Speaking of which, does anyone know if the Oversized Villain Cards will be available on the store after the preorders are shipped, or is this a case of "if you missed it, you're out of luck"?

I believe they are shipping all the ones who did seperate shipping first, then shipping Villains for people who did combined shipping.  It should be a few weeks to get through it all.

Also it is really hard to get responses from them right now as they go all hands on deck for shipping.

Has there been any resolution on the home delivery vs smart post issue? I had home delivery listed, but I honestly don't remember if there was an option where I chose for one over the other. It may have just said FedEx delivery and had some bad wording on the order record that made me assume it was one type of shipping over another. Just curious.

I'm just checking to see how the second round of shipping for Villains of the Multiverse is going. I'm glad I'm getting my copy sooner rather than later, but I will admit to getting antsy, especially since I haven't gotten any shipping notification.

So, yeah, any status updates?

Thanks.

Looks like I'm in the same boat with the Home Delivery versus Smart Post issue. I just got my notification today and it's telling me it's coming by Smart Post and not Home Delivery which is what I paid for. I think I see what the issue might be. I've got 3 orders outstanding. I selected smart post for Celestial Tribunal + Chokepoint, and Oversized Villan Cards. I selected Home Delivery for Villains.

I'm about at the point where I honestly don't care if I paid extra for nothing, as long as that package that is coming Saturday has all 3 of my orders.

Anyone in Australia received Villains or a tracking number yet? Or have a rough idea on when they left the USA? It's getting hard to wait hearing from all the americans who have their copy already :)

I still haven’t heard anything about my Villains preorder, and my order status hasn’t changed from ‘Pre-ordered’.
Should I be worried at this point? I did pay for separate shipping for the Villains and Sentinel Tactics preorders.

I sent an email to you today but I figured I will place a comment here.

I received the delivery on Wednesday (in NY).  I picked it up today and all I got was the game and the 7 promo cards.  I'm missing the art prints and mini-expansions and the oversize villains cards.  Are they supposed to be in a separate package?

@saucau22

Did you preorder during the Jan-Feb 2015 pre-order window, or did you preorder at Gen Con (or later on the website)? Only the early pre-order people got art prints and free mini-expansions. Later preorders only got promo cards (and, of course, shipping before games went to distributors).

I just received my copy of Villains of the Multiverse, Chokepoint and The Celestial Tribunal, and the Tactics maps and minion minis. Here is my issue:

I had 4 separate orders.

Order 1. Broken City, Expansion, Broken City Minis, Expansion Minis, All maps, Minion Minis

Delivery - Smart Post

Order 2. Villains of the Multiverse

Delivery - Home

Order 3.Chokepoint and The Celestial Tribunal

Delivery - Smart Post

Order 4. Oversized Villains

Delivery - Smart Post

As you can see I paid for delivery 4 times. 3 Smart Post, 1 Home.

I received a single package with part of Order 1, and all of orders 2&3. Order 2 was supposed to be Home Delivery but instead was packaged with Part of Order 1 and Order 3 and sent Smart Post. So in all so far we're looking at paying 2 times to have the same package delivered slowly.

Order 4 I've had no word on at all and am beginning to worry at this point it has fallen through the cracks. If it hasn't been fulfilled, then I'm really hoping they send it Home Delivery since I paid for 1 of my orders to be sent that way and it wasn't.

Hope all that made sense and that someone from GtG can clear this up.

Checking my shipment today, it seems I have a similar issue. My shipment appears to have included Villians of the Multiverse, the various promo cards, and the Chokepoint and Tribunal Mini-Expansions, but not the art prints. I preordered in January of 2015.

@EU Residents

FedEx claims that they have mostly cleared things up and that things should start arriving soon. At this point I don't have a good way to get feedback other than talking to our US FedEx rep, who talks to a FedEx employee in France, who speaks with the French government, which is not super reliable. If any of you actually succeed in getting your delivery this week, or can confirm that FedEx in France reaches out to you, I would definitely appreciate it if you'd let me know!

I am so incredibly angry and frustrated with FedEx now. Basically every time we ship to the EU we have some terrible disaster or another happen on their end, and as justifiably frustrated as you all are, I am that frustrated times the number of EU backers that there are.

The shipment is currently in France, and delivery times from there are super quick if they get their act together, so I am really hoping that you all have it before the KS goes live. I have had strongly worded conversations with FedEx twice more today already about the issue.

Just an update: the FedEx report for my UK order of Villains is no longer showing the warning message about needing a commercial invoice, as it has for the past two weeks. It's status is still saying it's in a "clearance delay" however, and the estimated delivery date has been altered to "No scheduled delivery date available at this time." I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not, but at least there's some sort of progress going on.

So I pre-ordered Villans from GTG in November.  Since I wasn't sure about when things would ship and the pre-order said they'd be held until the last item was ready to ship, I didn't pre-order the mini expansions and oversized villian cards at the time.  I wanted to do it during the winter sale, but they were out of stock the whole time, so I ended up pre-ordering through an online retailer I bought most of my SOTM games from.  That order was placed on January 6th, and I just got my package from them, while I'm still seeing no update from the GTG store on having shipped my Villians box.

This seems really messed up to me, that your direct customers are getting their packages shipped after distributors have both received their orders and managed to get them to their customers.  Is there any way to either check on my pre-order or cancel it if it hasn't shipped yet?

If you're in the US or Canada, you should definitely have received your order by now, and if you haven't you should contact GtG. So i work for fed ex, as a courier. (Shhh)

Its not too bad. Its not to great. UPS isn't much better, from what my customers tell me (many of them prefer FedEx). Internationally I can only imagine.

When it comes down to it? All of them are the same. DHL (what little it still does), FedEx, UPS, International Air Mail, whatever - they are all surprisingly good, when you consider the small fact that for my terminal alone (one of two in the city) we easily go through 30,000 boxes a day. Thats one terminal, in one city, in the US. FedEx has terminals in every major city in the country, and internationally. Millions upon millions of boxes a day. I deliver 150-250 boxes a day, in what is basically box that is about 25miles on a side. I pick up another 100 or so (more during the month between thanksgiving and christmas!)

When you consider those numbers, 99% successful service rate... still leaves hundreds of thousands of boxes that didn't get delivered properly. The terminals strive for (i think) 99.5 or something. It might even be 99.8 (I don't know, i'm not in that side of the business) and even such things as 'I got to the business and they were closed today, unexpectedly' hurt that number.

So, while it sucks that you didn't get your package ( and I totally feel for you - i really do, even I, in the business of shipping on the personal end, dealing with people who missed their box yesterday - don't like it when my box doesn't show up on friday and I have to wait even till monday. Waiting weeks cause of a customs delay where some S.O.B. forgot to send the paperwork... I'd be british levels of annoyance too!) please do realize that it doesn't really matter what company GtG ships with. They all could have had the same thing happen to them, and even with a 99.9% success rate, thats still hundreds of thousands of boxes that don't get properly delivered a day.

GtG prefers FedEx because of past experiences. Is this experience enough to make them switch services? Maybe. But no matter what service they use, someone somewhere is going to be unhappy. Something is going to go wrong somewhere. Some box is going to get crushed in the conveyor belts and not sent on. Some frieght truck with a couple hundred of them is going to get in an accident and everything catches fire. Some crate is going to get stuck in customs. It sucks, but its the facts.

I just wanted to write that out, not in defense of FedEx (Lord knows I have my issues with what little i deal with every day) but in defense of the realities of the shipping industry, especially in this day and age of Amazon Prime, every big site offering free shipping, and huge precentages of everyday shopping moving to online. Take it as you will!

Order has arrived and appears complete. However, I did not receive yet another copy of Tactics I didn't order. You're slipping, >G. :-)

@pwatson1974

I'll try to make sure we include another copy of Tactics you didn't order with your next order :)

Received the Villains package yesterday at 12:00:21. Everything appears to be in order and looks really nice! Thanks!

Did Paul ever comment on why some of us who payed for home delivery had our villians show up as smart post?

He did in a reply to me through email but I don't know if I'm at liberty to give his explanation.

I will reply here!

It seems there was a bug in our exporting software that occurred because SmartPost wasn't an option for shipping when the bulk of the order were placed, so there was an ID mis-match when it was added later.

I am in the US and did the original preorder for Villians of the Multiverse and the Oversize cards. When should I start to worry about my package arriving?

I know this thread is about shipping issues, but here's an example of GtG's shipping solutions.

Late last year I ordered copies of four decks (Ra, KNYFE, Baron Blade, and the MDP) that I use for testing purposes and which naturally show more wear and tear than the rest of the decks.

Package arrived within 10 days, even though they had already received Villains and were in the midst of prepping and even starting to ship it out.

Only one little glitch. No MDP deck. So I sent off an email at lunchtime. By that evening I had received not one, but two emails to let me know they were taking care of it. And four business days later the MDP landed on my desk.

I should have popped in here and said something immediately, but work, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Anyway, thanks guys! Great job!
