Don't forget! This coming Monday, Adam and Christopher will be streaming the live creation of a Sentinel Tactics character on Twitch. It starts at 9 AM Central. You may even find me in the chat. :-)

Twitch automatically archives broadcasts for 2 weeks. They can be archived permanently as Highlights, or exported to YouTube with a press of a button or two. We do both with the Handelabra stream =)

Spoilers for all kinds of stuff hereafter, you have been warned!

The character designed was Akash'Darsha, Akash'Bhuta reawakened by the Oblivion Shards. Argent Adept is confirmed as being on the background Art of {oneof the tactics cards I can't remember the name of}. Story wise Akash'B is an avatar of Creation and Destruction, she wants to destroy so that new things can come up in it's place. Akash'D just wants to destroy.

Argent Adept is the first Virtuoso of the Void to face Akash more than once, every other time Akash has need centuaries to regain her power and be up and active again, and in the last battle before AA she killed the VotV, so AA has no teachings and is the least of the VotVs, so this is new territory for both of them.

Mechanically we currently have A HUGE Akash'D and 3 small ones, the huge ones take up 7 hexes and the smaller ones only 1 hex. Her mechanics revolve around a slow build, gain new types of tokens and changing the environment, raising elevation, adding lava and adding cover. Her three smaller forms are Rock, Magma and Arboreal.

There's going to be a part 4 scenario, one for each of the smaller ones and then one with the large and 3 smaller ones at once. The arboreal one flips tiles from Megalopolis to Insula, the Magma one is trying to gain power by walking in lava, and the rock one... I don't think was nailed down. The powers are 3 general ones and then 1 for each form, also scenario powers. All character panals have 3 power 'slots'

The smaller versions of Akash'D will be tournamnet legal and see can swap between forms 'somehow'.

Akash'D is planned to be an expansion by itself, with 2 version, painted and unpainted minis, no token version. Probably not a pre-order similar to the last one, just a boring old regular pre-order.

There will be a character who can generate portals in Tactics!

Art was made for 3 of the power cards, Rock Armour featuring the (all new, all differnt) Ennead, "get whacked by a tree" (with a "new" character) and "lava power I can't remember the name of" with just Akash'D on it.

We saw Adam create a new character, The Naturalist, standing upright like a human but with all beastial features, as if his powers had warped and he had little control over it. Different parts of animals were all over his body. He is confirmed for tactics, but will not be called the Naturalist. Primary guess in the stream was Chimera, secondary the Unnaturalist. There were others and Christopher said we got the name, no confirmation on which.

The Prime Wardens will be in Tactics! No specific characters were talked about so the roster could change.

Taco Bell was eaten.

Setback and Tachyon love Taco Bell, Expat likes it but also likes MRE rations soooooo...

Legacy prefers hotdogs and cheeseburgers to taco Bell, but he really loves his wife's Meatloaf, or even better his mothers. His wife is not a fantastic cook, she is too busy (we do not know doing what). But we do know her name now, Nancy Parsons!

The first Letters' Page will be all about Legacy, it will be recorded at some point between 6 weeks from now and the end of the year, so yay!

Oblivion shards are important, but they are not the most important thing.

All the Atlanteans are dead, they will not feature anywhere except as the attached pic.

Writhe is wearing a domino mask, like the other Sentinels, you just can't see it!

More characters from the past will be seen (like GI Bunker but not from that era), maybe even from an alternative past!

A question was asked about when The Scholar would be in Tactics, Adam said "i can answer that one" and then there was laughter, so it would appear (to my mind) the answer is never.

The next big character payoff (like the emotional beat of Legacy building to Iron Legacy) will be... all of them. With some having bigger parts than others.

Luther did a Q&A in the chat while Taco Bell was being eaten but I forgot to grab it, the only thing I remember is that the characters he is most excited for next is Catastrophe and Verge.

Oh! Renegade is like Doctor Who with all his want for justice with none of his compunctions about violence. I could not want this character more now!

Remember, all this is very early in the process and still subject to change.

There was more than this and watching the stream is recommended! Also, Adam will be streaming his drawing art now. Keep up with this twitter feed to find out when!

Ok I was at work and unfortunately can't follow everything match put down on the list. So 3 questions I guess I want clarification on.

1) akashd'buta (sorry if I misspelled, always screw this name up) will be a stand alone expansion? So basically a mini expansion with her being the only villian? anyone else to come with her? My only other issue is no tokens, instead I have to buy the figures? No offense but money wise for me I rather have the tokens. The figures cost to much for what they bring to the game for me. So hopefully greater than games will rethink this.

2) was naturalist made also today? Or did we just see future art?

3) will this event be posted to YouTube so those of us who had jobs can watch. If so please break up videos in 20-30 segments to make it easier to watch.

I can answer some of this.

1) Yes, it seems that Akash'dharsha (she has a new name for Tactics) will be a mini-expansion. One huge mini, three regular-sized ones, a comic/scenarios book, some cover tokens and such. The plan is to have two different boxes, painted and unpainted, without character tokens. I'd love character tokens myself because although I'll be getting the minis I like to use tokens when I transport the game. I don't want to risk damaging the minis, and besides they take up a lot of space.

2) We saw art for the future Naturalist, no character design. He looks pretty cool.

3) Yes, it was confirmed that the videos will go on YouTube. I don't know if they'll be cut up. But you know that if you're signed in, YouTube remembers where you've watched to so you can just drop right back in there later?

personally I like the tokens due to cost. If it comes out to be 20 dollars cheaper for me to buy it without figures and just with character tokens then that's the route I prefer because then I can still enjoy the game and use that extra money on something else, especially since money is tight. The figures have never done anything for the game to make them a must have for me. However, I have a feeling though this is a logistics issue on greater than games part and if someone on the greater than games team could expand on this decision that would be great because I am curious to know why this was decided to go this route and if this is the plan for any other expansions down the road

On a side note, did they give any ideas on when preorders and approximate goal for release date were?

GtG mentioned that there are currently two different versions of the product (painted or not), and if there were tokens, then there would need to be 3 different versions, which might be a bit much. Also, this decision also limited the mechanics they were considering. At one point they wanted tokens for certain effects, but that would require a token sheet, which wasn't planned.

Was there any mention on when this mini-expansion will be released?

Will it be possible to add the pre-order of Akash'Dharsha to the pre-order for Broken City (regarding international shipping costs etc).

Akash' Darsha people, I spelled it correctly in my post! (It does mean something, in a language I don't understand).

The price mentioned (and again this is very early in the process) unpainted was $20, so getting it with tokens at $20 less is probably not a thing!

I believe (though this is going off my faulty memory and not from my notes so take this with a pinch of salt) that next year at the same time as the RPG was talked about as a release date. (That time frame was certainly talked about though possibly not in relation to the release of Akash'D)

Also mentioned was the possibility that the scenario would need Rook City tiles, so at least one expansion on top of the base set. This is an item being created for fans who have everything and really, really like it. AGAIN, this is very early in the processes and is subject to change.

It's Sanskrit.

Akash'bhuta roughly translates to "aether ghost".

In this context, Aether is one of the 5 elements.

Dharsha is a lot more complicated, but it (very) roughly translates to "revelation" or "awaken" in a spiritual sense.  I'm sure I'm getting the connotations all wrong though!

I want to weigh in on the "Token vs No Token" thing.

In my mind the precedent was already set when the Core game and 1st Expansion came with just tokens and minis being an extra cost. There are a lot of folks (myself included) who do not have and may not ever go down the mini rabbit hole. It is really awkward to have a full game setup where you have all these character tokens and one lone mini. This would be very different if the game came with minis as a baseline. But it didn't.

I wouldn't mind as much if this mini-expansion always came with a mini (painted or not) to keep with the idea of only having 2 products, but they both need character tokens.

At the moment, it looks like Akash-darsha will need a punchboard sheet anyway. I doubt the folks that buy only Core #2 (which is a legit option) will have lava tokens right? She will need to come with those tokens on a punchboard sheet anyway if current mechanics hold over to production. You can fit the character tokens on that sheet as well.

I would be fine if they just add a token into the mini expansion.  I don't use the minis, but I can understand not wanting to make three sets.  I just don't want to be stuck using minis for akash when I play.

(Apparently I agree with Foote)

Did they say how Akash affects terrain in her big form?  Moving through Akash will be confusing.

MA
Matchstickman

They did not.

Also no comments on how to move through Akash, I assume you will not able to.

Moving Akash however was talked about, she moves like a regular mini/token with her centre hex being her starting and ending point (so not like Omnitron swiveling around).

Playtesting files were sent out to Luther and his group during the stream last night, so expect some of this to have changed by the time anyone else sees them.
