They won't be releasing the promos for general sale until they have finished releasing every expansion of the card game, at which point they'll release the "unlimited" editions of the cards.

I'd also imagine they are making oversized Villain cards for Wager Master, WotC villains, and hopefully Skinwalker Gloomweaver and Spite Agent of Gloom.
If you're asking if Guise, Omnitron IV, and Wager Master will be for sale; yes they will.

I notice the restocked Oversize Villian cards say: "This set contains an oversized card for every villain which will ever be printed (other than those which come with their own oversized cards, such as the Vengeance villains)."
How far could we be from the last Sentinel's expansion if we aren't getting any more villains?

Foote, I know your'e talking about one expansion after VotM like it's a done deal. Has that been confirmed by TPTB someplace (like in playtester fora)?

I'm reading this as "all other expansions will come with oversized villain cards" rather than "there will be no more villains".

The writing is on the wall. No new hero decks, the ultimate pack of all villain oversided cards to ever be released?
It's been said for a long time now that they are doing 1 expansion per year until the end of SotM (stated on the Shattered Timelines KS)
It was confirmed that there were 2 years remaining of SotM during the WotC preorder.
It's not been "officially" stated, but all clues point to one conclusion.

I happen to agree with your conclusion, just double-checking that you weren't privy to information on this topic that I wasn't.
Honestly, at one point it was described as Vengeance being the mid-point of the story, and at another with there being Vengeance, one more regular expansion, and The End (TM). It looks like we're splitting the difference between those two scenarios.

I have no special knowledge of >G plans.
And just to throw doubt into everything here, I wouldn't be surprised if they threw us a curvball somewhere. I've been plenty wrong before.

Will the oversized pack of cards be available in any other way? Will it be released to stores for distribution?

I sincerely hope that once the new official content for SotM is done, that we can work on and produce some legit fan Expansions.
With the community we have we could make some great decks. It would of course depend on the legal situation, but it would be awesome if we could do it.

The Grasshopper (age 9) was suggesting over the weekend hero & villain decks for the Baudelaire Orphans and Count Olaf (from Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events). After watching the Avengers yesterday, he was geeked for a Marvel expansion, and I had to gently disabuse him of the prospect of ever seeing that.
There's one other idea that has crossed our collective mind lately (aside from the Phantom Tollbooth-inspired deck that PlatinumWarlock, jsz2, and I posted to BGG), but I can't for the life of me recall what it is off-hand.
Edit: remembered the other one later -- something inspired by Peter V. Brett's Demon Cycle novels, as part of the "fan art" contest for an ARC of the upcoming release.

I really can't see them just abandoning their flagship product. Yes, they've stated there would be an end. That doesn't rule out SotM v2.0. A different storyline taking place after tactics, or before the current storyline. A different group of heroes in a different "verse." Maybe even a different theme using the Sotm ruleset. SotM is what made this company and it is what their customers, including everyone here loves. I'm sure the people at GtG love it even more than we do. Sure Tactics has done well, GSF has been rather iffy, the Story War thing was a non-(kick)starter. Are any of them poised to take SotM's place? I doubt it.

I don't think they would abandon their flagship product, but I do think they would back off and let it mature a bit. While at the same time, recharge and regroup and maybe rethink the game through. There are still things we could see happen. For starters we have yet to see a villain boss that uses multiple setup cards (think of it as a boss having a side A, side B and than going to Card two for a side C and D!) Some are still waiting for the Matriarch to make her appearance as a hero prior to Tactics (which I think may not happen...I would like to think she decided to do some soul searching before finally making the jump...only to show up in Tactics.) I do think it becomes difficult to say "ok what can we do to the cards now that we haven't done before?" But a version 2.0 with just "new characters" which are either rethemed or revamped? Its a stretch. It would be neat. Yet it doesn't sound new enough.
If anything my main concern is can the guys at >G do something different? They tried something new with Galactic Strike Force, but it feels like the buzz for that isn't as loud (or if any) as it has had a lukewarm reception. Tactics, while different, in truth has mostly the theme and blessing of the >G crew. However, the reception I would say has been better. Here we are and we're getting not only a second expansion, but another stand alone expansion to boot. GSF...nothing new on the horizon.

Christopher mentioned at The Gathering of Heroes that he would love to keep making Sentinels of the Multiverse stuff forever, but from the practical side of things it would get unwieldy. We already have a massive amount of product to carry around if we have everything (I use the three big boxes for all of my sleeved cards with every mini-expansion, the oversized playmat, and a dice bag covered with Sentinels Pins from GtG and FoamBrainGames), and if they never stopped then you'd need an entire bookcase to store the whole game. An entire wall. A room.
While that does sound like an incredibly fun (though very intimidating) concept, Christopher said (and I am paraphrasing here) that his SotM story had an end. And with the story's end there is an end to the product as well. I don't know if that means they'll not do any promo cards in the future or a mini-expansion every five or six years, but he seemed pretty firm that SotM wasn't going to be a neverending game.
The Sentinels Multiverse, however? He said nothing about leaving that alone after SotM and Tactics. I look forward to what we get to experience with this setting and these characters in the future outside of the established games they've already been in.

Hi All,
This is my 1st post! I've been lurking for just under a week, having jumped into SotM just this montha fter playing at a friend's house.
Anyway, I think another important thing to remember, from a game designer's standpoint, is that simply sticking with 1 game (no matter how awesome that 1 game is), can get...boring? Boring may not be the right word, but limiting, maybe? Like a writer who pens a great novel, or a director who comes out with a brilliant movie, they don't JUST want to keep hammering out sequels because everyone loved their initial releases, right? They want to try something new, and not risk jumping the shark (ignore Guise here) on their initial hit.
So maybe >G wants to try and make a new hit game. Let their creativity expand, and hopefully come up with something else excellent. So GSF isn't as loved as SotM. Tactics is a hit with some. Sure, it's in the same universe...uh...multiverse as SotM, but it is a different game. And you can tell that >G really wants to promote it and see it gain traction. There are already 2 new expansions up for pre-order, and comments that I've read online here from Paul I think where he said SotM is "near" its end, but Tactics is not. Then you have Spirit Island coming up, and that's a completely different game not in the Multiverse (most likely), right? I'm sure they hope it finds its own place in a good number of homes and can be called a successful release.
And really, once SotM is truly complete, and done, will you be unhappy? You'll have an awesome game with tons of replayability, a completed cast and storyline, and something you'll be proud to play with your friends and even introduce new people to. Or would you rather it expand and get, dare I say it, stale, with too many new mechanics and uninspired characters and such? Where you'll still purchase new sets so that you can have the "complete" game, but will at the same time be lamenting the past when every release was awesome. If the creators have a fleshed out and complete story in mind, let them complete it! Then they aren't forced to, well...force out something new just because.

Maybe Spirit Island will be that breakout game that gives >G some credibilty outside of the Multiverse, really looking forward to that one. Probably more so even than Villains!

I really like Spirit Island. As to how well it'll do, I can't in any way predict that. It deserves to be well received, but there are a lot of horrible horrible games out there that get huge amounts of love, and lots of awesome ones that get no attention at all. So, who knows.
All I know is I'm going to buy it.

There is one thing to keep in mind. The sentinels of the multiverse is the engine that keeps the company going. It keeps the lights on and doors open. Now they have started to diversify into things like distribution, which is a good thing, but it will be a sad day in my book when distribution is their main focus. What I am hoping is that they will use the core mechanic and continue to play with it. I liked GSF, but it doesn't get as much play time at my house simply because there is a lot of phases and accounting that needs doing and it gets to be too much for my kids. "Play, Power, Draw" is simple enough to do and I can help with the accounting and Bam! Like magic the multiverse comes alive. I could totally see a Wild West version of the game using the mechanics. A space version using the GSF universe would be totally awesome. It is my truest hope that they will keep the multiverse going. It has created some of our best holiday moments and it will be part of my children's holiday memories for the rest of their lives. Framed sentinels art prints are the decoration of choice in my kids room and I am super excited that our collection will be growing!
Okay, I am not sure where this post was going, but it sort of turned into a sentinels love letter. I will sign off now...

The game will still exist if they stop making expansions. You can still enjoy it!
I for one don't want >G to churn out expansion after expansion way beyond what feels like a natural stopping point. There's only so much you can do before you run out of interesting new ideas and mechanisms, and it would be sad to see SotM end up like Munchkin that Just. Won't. Die.
I'm pretty sure that Christopher has a lot more stories to tell that aren't necessarily Sentinels-related, and I'm excited to see what's coming after this arc. There's Tactics of course, but what else?

well we do have some at BBG. Like cauldron (no story) and the collective (story but currently no artist) .
