Why have the topics been moving to other forums lately

Any particular reason why this thread was moved? I've seen that happen lately to many threads that have been around for some time, it's a bit disorienting.

whew...  I thought it was just me.

So have I, it's very confusing as to why most of them are being moved everywhere. Rules and Gameplay section seems to be getting hit the hardest.

I think it is because there isn't a good place for some of these threads.

General Discussion (where these post are coming from) is a great place to put anything and everything, it even says so.

Discussions of anything and everything related to Greater Than Games.

The Panams Canal Expansion Project is currently ongoing, you can read about it Here.  It is going to open the canal to large shipping vessels, which currently can't go through.

Until then the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach are the only option for Shipping across the Pacific.  Going around South America is not a viable option.

The trouble is the Dockworkers and the Port Management have been at an impasse for a long time.  The monopoly on shipping the port enjoys gives them little motivation to improve on anything.  

The Workers have been working without a contract, and are unhappy.  Management says they are working slow and causing the trouble.

The Workers in replay blame the Port for ignoring needed upgrades and improvements for too long, and the problem has been building and is hitting a head with this christmas season.

It looks like both sides have good points, and mostly we can know that Monopolies crush innovation and motivation, and the Panama Canal project just needs to get finished so there are other options.

I have been moving them – mostly to put things related to Sentinels of the Multiverse in a forum that is specific to Sentinels of the Multiverse.

Which would be fine, but there isn't a SotM forum that fits nicely with some of these threads. It isn't about rules or the comics. Why not just make a "General SotM Discussion" forum.

Seconded, I like having the Rules and Gameplay forum being there and would prefer it to stay exclusively about Rules and Gameplay.

And really I think there is only a need for a "General SotM Discussion" forum if posting these things in "General Discussion" is an issue.

This is a reasonable possibility. On the other hand, Sentinels of the Multiverse Rules is in the Rules and Gameplay group of forums and used to be called Sentinels of the Multiverse Rules and Gameplay. I still think of it this way, and I think of the threads I've moved into the forum as being 'Gameplay'.

So, given the explanation, are people still bothered but what I've been doing? If so, I'll get with the mods and admins and see if we can find something more palatable.

It wasn't long ago that the major divisions were by game, and each had a discussion and a rules area.

I don't know why it was changed, but it seems like that old format would work better.

I don't get the value in having separate rules and discussion forums for each game. Are you sure you want that?

Well, if you do have separate game-related forums for rules and whatnot, you don't get questions about Tactics in the forum for the card game.

It'd make it easier to find things for a person who's only interested in rules questions for one specific game. For each game we could have a forum for rules questions and one for other questions that are game-specific but not rules-related.

I'd have thought that a generic Sentinel Comics discussion thread would be good in addition to that though, for all the lore and such. Obviously SotM and Tactics are the same world so there's a lot of overlap and it makes sense to discuss both sets of arcs in the same place, along with those of any future Sentinels games/comics/whatever.

We already have a separate forum for each game (SotM, Tactics, GSF) and a separate forum for discussing Sentinels Comics - lore which is common to multiple games. 

What I'm seeing now is a call for each game (SotM, Tactics, GSF) to have two separate forums: One for Rules and one for Other/General related to that game.

I personally don't see the appeal of having two separate forums for each game -- I would be perfectly happy with the status quo of jumbling the rules questions in with everything else that's specific to an individual game. Others, however, seem to like the idea of separating any Topics related to Rules from everything else.

So, I'd be happy to see opinions about which you'd prefer:

A) One forum for each game, plus a forum for Sentinel Comics lore (as we have now)

B) Two forums for each game, dividing Rules from General, plus a forum for Sentinel Comics lore.

C) Something else.

Option A is my preference, with General Discussion staying in the General Discussion and out of Rules and Gameplay. If that's not possible, than I guess I would go with option B.

Hmmm, I have seemingly still not been clear, because that's not what I meant by Option A. I will try again.

B) One Rules forum and One General forum for each game (SotM, GSF, Tactics, etc.)  A Sentinel Comics forum for discussions of Sentinel Comics that go across multiple games. A General forum that would be used sparingly, if at all.

C) One Rules forum for each game (SotM, GSF, Tactics, etc.) that would only include only rules topics.  A Sentinel Comics forum for discussions of Sentinel Comics that go across multiple games. A General forum that would have Topics from any game as long as the topic isn't about rules.

D) Something else.

C seems so nonsensical to me that I've had trouble recognizing that people might want this, but if I'm understanding Ronway's response, it's what he wants.

I'm actually fine with the forum the way it is. I've never had much trouble navigating around.

Only real issue is the search function.

The new option C is what we pretty much have right now. But rather than just Rules, we have the Rules and Gameplay. I'm not so sure why it's so nonsensical, when it has been like this for quite some time now. It's the format I am used to and don't really see a reason to change it.

My vote is for each game to have a Rules forum and a "stuff related to that specific game that isn't actually rules" forum. So you'd ask about when WotC is going to ship or how to beat Advanced Voss in the SotM non-rules forum (can't think what name to use) and effectively corral the rules questions away from all that.

Then a generic Sentinels lore forum to ask who that dude with the lizard face is, not game-specific.

I'm okay with C though, if that's what everyone else wants. Just expressing what would be better for me.

Agreed – option C is what we have now. It seems nonsensical to me because it mixes topics from different games in the same forum, but the majority of the time that I have wanted to read some topics but not others, it's been because I was interested in one game but not all of them. In particular, there was a rush of topics about GSF at one point and I wanted a way to quickly mark them all read, but I couldn't do that as easily as I would have liked because some of the Topics about GSF were in the General forum.

This is also related to the issue of not having to see everything that pops up. RIght now, you can't turn off specific area, rules, or topics. 

Also, separate forum for forum games that you can not have show up.
