Does anyone know how long a game of Sentinels Tactics takes? Is it the same as Sentinels of the Multiverse, which is usually an hour, or is it a lot longer?

generally shorter, once you get the game explained.

Don't know! I have played five times. I have yet to play a game that didn't have at least one person who was learning the game for the first time.

PLUS, beyond learning the game itself, learning the abilities of the various characters becomes important. Take a bunch of people who know the game but not the characters they are playing and the game will slow down.

It also depends on who you're playing with. My group of friends, for instance, are very strategic, and we'll spend a long time contemplating our options, which slows down the game as well.

I play Sentinels of the Multiverse at my lunch hour. I also play it sometimes by myself. Outside that my regular gaming group doesn't like it.

So, if Sentinels Tactics doesn't fit in an hour and I can't play it myself then I don't think I'll be able to back Tactics.

I usually do play with new players at lunch. SotM with new players is still under an hour for half the villains. (We've actually decided who is a "lunch" villain).

It also depends on the type of game you're playing. I think the scenarios (or at least an individual "chapter" for a multi-chapter scenario) are going to be quicker, and I think they will run an hour or so. I base that mostly on what I've been told by others (including the >G folks), as I've honestly only seen one: the Baron Blade scenario included on the Kickstarter video, and I believe 2 of the players hadn't played before and one of the others had only played a couple times.

Your first games will take longer naturally.

Normally it takes about 1 minute a turn for my group.  Others seem to have much slower gameplay.

I'd say it depends on your group and how long they take to make decisions about what to do on their turns.

My Sister, B-i-L and I have run the Baron Blade and Omnitron starting scenarios in ~20 minutes.  The second ones take a bit longer.

Once your players are used to the game I think you could do it.  At first I'd run some skirmishes just to get the rules down and the turn time reduced.

You could take a series of photos of the game state and spend 5 minutes setting it up again the next day.

We've often done this with other games when time has overrun and the person that locks up the room we hire starts jingling keys in a hinting kind of way... ;)

If you hire rooms do you rent people? Crazy Brits and their messed up bastardization of the English language...

I personally find it plays quicker than most Sentinels games if it's just 1 vs 1.  If you have teams of players though, I would expect it would take longer due to the strategy discussions that would take place.

We say "rent" when we mean a kind of permanent-ish arrangement. You'd rent a house (or a room in a shared house) to live in, or rent a storage unit to store your collection of old orange skins and stuffed otters and out-of-date tubes of hemarroid cream in.

You'd hire a room for a few hours, or hire a floor sander for the weekend, or hire a boat for the day.

You totally can rent people, but it's usually on a very temporary basis, and you probably wouldn't want to tell your significant other about it.
