Thanks to TLT, I now have Call Forth. my turn was so simple before, just play Elder Ring. Now should I play call Forth instead? What should I discard?

RO

it depends on if you have anything with a 3 or 4. Any card other than Oblivion sounds like a good card to discard, as Oblivion may be needed if Akash manages to get a lot of her limbs out at once. I tend to discard Elder Rings if they are 3 or 4s, as the Call Forth will most likely get one back in your hand anyways.

Jeez man, that does make it a tough call. It's a big toss up between Mists of Time and Elder Ring. As Mists of Time can become very useful, but it is a 4 which is sad as 1 can make a big difference. While Elder Ring is a 3 and you will almost surely get another one. I'd flip for it!

NOTES:

With Haka and NightMist out of commision (Humorously Ensnaring Brambles feature Haka, while the Ethearal Bonds feature NightMist, but they are getting effected by the opposite ones) were going to need to get some damage out A.S.A.P. the Bonds may be slightly more important, as Haka actually wants to deal damage. Or NightMist has Planar Banishment if she wants to go ahead and use that. Either way works for me!

If I redirect I am no longer the lowest. So what does everyone think we should do?

RO
Ronway
2013-04-26 18:17 UTC
#32

Well I see 3 things we can do.

  1. NightMist can planar banishment and hope for at least a 2 to destroy the Bonds and Allies of the Earth, as Bubbles aren't really that much of a problem, especially if we knock it down to 1 HP.
  2. Haka can play Ground Pount, that will prevent the non-hero cards from dealing damage until Haka's next turn, meaning we probably won't want to kill any limbs until then, but it will give us a round to destroy the bounds.
  3. Finally, Tachyon with Hypersonic can hit all current targets and prevent damage until the start of her next turn. Since Akash'Bhuta has damage reduction she will not be effected and thus can deal damage to herself with limb destruction.

Any of those are fine by me, as we can't destroy the Bonds in one round using both Tachyon and Tempest.

Edit: Option 4, Tempest can Localize Hurricane the Bonds and the Bubbles, Tachyon can follow up with an Accelerated Assualt, leaving Bubbles at 1 HP. Haka will then play a Haka of Shielding discarding 1 card, to reduce the next 2 damage, which should be the Bonds, and thus Haka can deal damage again next round.

But Brambles are going to start posing a problem now, so we may need to eliminate them as soon as possible, since we are all getting close to health. Which is sad for NightMist, but with Amulet out it won't be too big of a deal.

I've also already did the villain turn, so just waiting to hear Tempest and Tachyon's decision before posting it.

Rampage might be a bit drastic at this point. I can scrag the Brambles and the Carapace, with a little damage to one of the Phalanges. Or with the Carapace gone, can do a little straight to Akash.

Or I can Ball Lightning the Carapace and destroy the Allies.

Or I can Stratosphere one of the Phalanges.

PY
Pydro
2013-04-28 05:30 UTC

Well I would say Akash, since rampage will take out everything else, but wouldn't that be cheating?

Is Rampage worth redirecting?

On my turn I plan on playing Master of Magic, which should set me up for any other card I play.

RO
Ronway
2013-04-28 05:44 UTC

Yes having the redirecting hit Akash would be a bit cheating, so it probably will hit either the Bonds or Carapace.

Sadly I don't think Haka will be rampaging though, since Grey isn't up for some damage. Maybe Savage Mana or Vitality Surge this round may be good for Haka.

A Ball Lightning doesn't sound too bad, As a Portal Fiend could get a little awkward with Allies of the Earth out.

Edit: Went ahead and applied the damage to the Bonds from Tachyon's redirection just to get it out of the way. As that sounds like the most logical target to me. Unless anyone objects?

Just to pooint out, with something like Chain Lightning, you can target NM as one of the shots, then she can redirect it to a target that was already targeted. (Right?)

I can use Planar banishment to take out Embued Vitality and Entombed, but I don't think it is worth it.

I can play Heedless Lash to kill one and redirect my damage to kill another.

Or I can redirect my power to kill one.

Those are all my my options short of drawing more cards.

I was just reviewing people's cards. It looks like Tachyon has an Accelerated Assualt and Sucker Punch, so she could easily wipe out the remaining 3 targets. If you wanted you could just target Akash with the Heedless Lash and the redirection to her aswell. Unless you have something else in mind. Though NightMist and drawing more cards is always an excellent option!

Yeah the cards you discarded sounded alright, though if you have multiple copies of them you always want to discard the lowest for redirection, and save the highest for Starshield if you ever get it into play.

Though there are a couple of errors in your play. NightMist can only redirect the first time she was dealt damage, which would of been Heedless Lash, so you would redirect that 3 and would take the 4 damage from Scouring Mist. Also putting Scouring Mist into play is slightly different than Playing a card, so you wouldn't regain HP for chaining it. So you would only be at 3 less HP while Akash would have 1 more HP. Went ahead and fixed it in the Doc. Still a very good turn though!

Now to type up the environment and villain turn before heading to bed.

I actually want to make a little change to your turn. Hit me instead of Rockslide. I want to dump some 4 from my hand before I play Mists of Time. my 4s are Tome of Elder Magic, Mist Bound, Mist-Fueled recovery, Oblivion. I can then redirect the damage from Mists thereby dumping all 4 (or change one to a 3). The redirect cards go in the old trash and Mists go in the new trash, right?

Right now my trash looks like:

It depends on how many spells you plan on playing after you flip your trash and deck. If you want to play a lot of spells causing lots of damage, than the more high numbered cards the better. If you're going to run out of steam before your deck reshuffles than not much of a point in having too many cards in there.

Here's the thing, NM doesn't have that many damage options (besides redirecting which works with most of her cards), and Oblivion will hurt us more than Aka now. I don't have many extremely useful option that require ***. My feeling is flip my decks now and use what I can. Enlightenment can really help, and I can do that for a couple of turns. Once my deck gets low, I will Mist-Fuel to pump of my health (hopefully after Reclaim from the deep), then just continue with whatever strategy we want.

Oh true, missed out on a couple calculations, so NightMist takes the hit from Ethereal Bonds then, unless there is redirection involved?

Edit: Also by my review, NightMist is currently at 23 before the Bonds hit.

My mistake. (Man I just played that card in another game too). Taking one of the 2 magic cards out then.

Nah. I’ll take it and use Enlightenment.

Yea she was. Then had a net of plus one after my turn. Really messed over the doc when I switched my piles.

EDIT: actually I would have taken out a 2 magic card, but then technically I should reshuffle and draw again. Should I redo the draw, just dump the 2, or just dump Heedless Lash?

EDIT2: Going out of town for a day and just wanted to get my turn in. Not going to make that mistake again.

This is actually the same turn you were Ethereal Bonds, so can't deal damage sadly NightMist. If you plan on doing a lot of spells and wanting high numbers and comfortable with your handsize than I don't see a reason to draw extra cards.

Haka drew a Haka of Battle, Rampage, and Elbow Smash!

I will take the damage. With Cleansing Downpour, Master of Mgic and a Mist-Fueled coming up, I think I am ok with HP. I planned I giving Haka another Enlightenment anyways.

Speaking of which, do we know exactly how much damage we have between tachy and Haka?

If we get another target next turn, I think I will Oblivion (a minimum of 7 damage).

Not wanting to destroy the Ethereal Bonds with the Flash Flood as well?

Haka could get a plus 16 his next damage, so nothing too great. I'll probably get rid of the carapace by sacrificing a few cards, then weakening the Phalanges.

Edit: maybe I should Rampage... That be able to do 6 to the Carapace and 4 to Phalanges. And if NightMist redirected the Rampage damage to the Carapace that's make it 3 to it bringing it to 3 HP. Thus I could Taiaha the Carapace for destruction and dropping the Phalanges by 4 again to 4 HP.

Haka

HP: 24

Hand:  Haka of Shielding, Ground Pound (x2), Savage Mana (x2), Taiaha (x2), Vitality Surge, Haka of Restoration (x2), Haka of Battle, Rampage(x2), Dominion, Elbow Smash, Ta moko (x2)

In Play: Taiaha, Dominion (x2), Punish the Weak,

Trash: Haka of Shielding (x3), Enduring Intercession(x2), Punish the Weak, Vitality Surge(x2), Haka of Battle, Haka of Restoration (x2), Savage Mana

-----------------

Start of Hero Turn: nothing

Play a Card: Rampage!!! Destroys the bonds, which sadly trigger Akash'Bhuta. Which plays Disrupt the Field, which destroys all environment cards (there are no more) And play the top of both villain and environment decks. Earths Sacrifice, we have to destroy 4 ongoings. Dominions, Otherworldly Resilience, and Research Grant will be destroyed. The Environment card played is Time Flies!!! So now heroes can play 2 cards and draw 2 cards on the respective phases. Rampage continues its damage Carapace (5), Phalanges (8), Akash (118). Heroes will all take 1 damage Tempest (20), Haka (23), Tachyon (20), NightMist (20). For the second card Haka will Rampage again!!! Destroying the Carapace, causing Akash to hit herself (107), Phalanges (2), and Akash (103).

Use a Power: Taiha the Phalanges destroying it dealing 12 damage to Akash (91), and then Taiahaing Akash for 4 (87).

Draw a Card: Dominion and Haka of Restoration.

End of Hero Turn: none

-----------------

HP: 24

Hand:  Haka of Shielding, Ground Pound (x2), Savage Mana (x2), Taiaha (x2), Vitality Surge, Haka of Restoration (x3), Haka of Battle, Rampage, Dominion, Elbow Smash, Ta moko (x2)

In Play: Taiaha, Punish the Weak

Trash: Haka of Shielding (x3), Enduring Intercession(x2), Punish the Weak, Vitality Surge(x2), Haka of Battle, Haka of Restoration (x2), Savage Mana, Rampage (x2)

-----------------

Notes: Now we can play 2! Woohoo! Pydro I think Mistbounding is a great idea. And if your last turn is correct it says you have two of them. Maybe Mistbounding both the Villain and Environment decks thus it will pretty much go back to Tempest and we may have it won next turn. Tachyon can focus this turn getting the last few burst cards in the trash along with getting the precious last Light-Speed barrage!

Edit: One more thing NightMist didn't need to redirect as Time Flies allowed Haka to take it out without a sweat, though next turn may be a bit different!

I think we got her next round. If Tachyon can deal 36 ith both Light-Speed Barrages. Haka can get about 27, 31 if Haka be bounce the second Taiha hit off of NightMist. And Tempest Has a Gene-Bound plus a Into the Stratosphere even though it won't knock anything back it will still deal 4, plus 3 for squall. So 7 damage from that. Plus NightMist can play an Oblivion that will do at least 7, plus redirecting the damage , probably chosing the highest to deal all hero target so that will be an addition 4 damage to Akash. So that brings it up to 11, plus a Heedless Lash will at least do 3. Bringing the total NightMist can do to 14, if Heeless Lash. So that is 88 points of damage... That's 1 point more than what she has! So were pretty much in the clear as to what is going to happen next round... Do we really want to go through it all or just go ahead and call it?
