At Comic Carnival today our group of five played games against Ambuscade and then Plague Rat, winningly handily each time.
Against Plague Rat we used Visionary, Tachyon, Argent Adept, and Unity, which is a LOT of slow build and support. Good thing we had Tempest!

Since we’re talking about regular meetups. Gamer’s Guild of IUPUI meets every Friday in the IT building, room 167, from 12pm to 6pm, though we usually stay later. The doors lock at 6pm, but that only prevents people from entering, not from leaving. During the summer it doesn’t really get going till around 1 or 2pm. And if there isn’t a meeting it will be posted on our facebook page.
We usually play Sentinels every meeting, with me bringing the cards, though another person has a set as well. Anyone is allowed to come, the guild’s population just has to stay mostly IUPUI students, which is not a problem so far. We also have many other games to play, which are mostly provided by me with new games getting added all the time. I know arenson has stopped by before.
Well, that’s one Indianapolis meetup I’ll have to miss. I already have a weekly Friday get together with some friends which typically goes from about 2pm - 11pm (or later). Also, I tend to hang out with another friend prior to that (then usually take her to the get together later). Also, this Friday is Batman, can’t miss that (heheheh).

Teresa, Naan, her husband, and I were the only regulars to make it. Tim also was unable to attend, leaving me in charge. Given that three of Naan's friends showed up, that left Teresa in charge of the second game, though she really wasn't quite up to being able to manage a game by herself, though she did decent enough.

We had six people today, so split in to two games of three each (and I think the rest played a 5-person game after I left).
I found myself playing Argent Adept against Gloomweaver (w/ Young Legacy and Mr. Fixer, in the Realm of Discord).
We were losing pretty badly until Mr. Fixer got out Jack Handle and then AA got out the Sarabande of Destruction and destroyed all three relics in two turns.

We played a five-person game at Arsenal on Tuesday versus Apostate.
By round two we had seven relics out and the game was essentially lost.
BUT, we somehow managed to claw our way back for the win! Ra got out Imbued Fire and the power that enabled him to make all heroes immune to fire and then Nightmist let loose with a 4x4 Oblivion and the Argent Adept allowed Nighmist to play _another_ Oblivion while we were all immune (only 2x1 this time). With the +1 from imbued fire, that was 5x5x3x2 against every non-hero! Unity's Bots were taking the brunt of the damage from Apostate and Bunker had fired off a massive Omnicannon hit against Apostate earlier, so all of the sudden the game was within reach and we were able to pull it out.

We had just three people at Arsenal on Tuesday, but it was still lots of fun. As all of us were playtesters, we decided to use some of the in-progress decks, but decided to focus on just one deck per game and, perhaps surprisingly, decided to focus on the environment decks.
Three experienced players managed to lose to Voss using Haka, Nightmist, and Unity. I think we could have won that game. I should have played the Amulet of the Elder Gods before the Master of Magic. Mostly we were taken down by all of the Forced Deployments.

The Forced Deployements were the problem. The first one we got cleared before killing any minions, but the other two both brought back 7 each including the annoying guard.
In hindsight, I'm convinced that I should have discarded my (Unity's) hand instead of Haka. I did no damage that game because I couldn't get out any of the generic bots despite what I thought was a good setup to make that happen.

We had six people today. I was in two games and a third was starting when I needed to leave.
In the first game, Legacy, Mr. Fixer, Tempest, NightMist, and Ra made short work of The Matriarch in Atlantis. We had really easy draws from the Matriarch -- Darken the Skies on the first turn, for instance.
Second game might have been hard if we didn't end up with six heroes playing. Why six, you might ask? We'd just started a five hero game when a sixth person showed up. Didn't want to stop and break into two games, but didn't want that person not to be able to play. And sometimes, just having a fun time playing and winning is more important than anything else.

'Twas good times. We had six people. We started with two games, each against Cosmic Omnitron. Both lost. I have yet to beat Cosmic Omnitron.
We then played a six player (though not the F6) against Iron Legacy. We were _sure_ we were going to lose: Two heroes incapacitated and everyone else in low single digits after two rounds. Than we turned on the massive healing abilities of Argent Adept and The Tempest and worked our back, bit by bit. Epic victory!
Final game was four heroes, including all three playtest heroes against Voss. Tons of fun.

John claimed he'd never lost a game. So we suggested playing Ennead. On advanced. In Rook City. Against only three heroes: Fanatic, Bunker, and NightMist.
John has now lost a game. Badly.

We had another great meetup today -- five people at Comic Carnival. Because of comings and goings we did two four-hero games.
In the first we gave Spite the smackdown. I, uh, really felt like winning so I suggested Spite and then chose to play The Wraith. I'd read about how well The Wraith did against him. She did not dissappoint. Stun Bolt! Smoke Bombs!
In the second we had some people trying out new, complex heroes for the first time (NightMist and Argent Adept), so I steered us towards playing GloomWeaver so it wouldn't be too hard of a game. With Absolute Zero in the mix (lots of slow build heroes!) I decided to go for Ra so we'd have some immediate damage ability. It was a bit touch and go in the beginnig, but we eventually cleared the board and coasted to victory.
Next date is, as always, the second Sunday of the month at 1pm -- Feb 10th. I, however, will not be able to attend, as I'll be out of town ... on an awesome nerd cruise! http://jococruisecrazy.com/

There were six people at the Sentinels event at Game Preserve Fashion Mall Commons, so I've decided to ask that store to set up a regular time. I've asked for the first Sun of the month at 1pm. Does that sound good? In a way, it's redundant with the Comic Carnival meetup, but they won't be on the same weekends and if enough people are coming out to both, I see no reason not to.

An impressive turnout at Arsenal tonight -- 13 people, with four games going simultaneously!
Towards the end of the evening I was in a hurry but another person was interested in playing against a villain on advanced. We decided to try Baron Blade on advanced. I must have done that at some point, but not in a LONG time. Wow does Blade go through cards quickly on advanced versus five people. We won! It was certainly a quick game. So quick we had enough time to try Mad Bomber Blade on advanced. We wont that one, too, but it seemed a bit touch and go for a bit.
First game of the night? Two hours defeating Gloomweaver. Second and third games took less than an hour total.

Is there anyone else who cares enough about this particular meetup to take over responsibility for organizing it? If not, I'm going to let it lapse.

Hey everyone! First post after following the forums for a bit and relatively new to the game. Had a great first meetup at Arsenal a couple weeks ago in the aformentioned games with arenson9 (Thanks again for letting us join in!) Just curious if there any interest in any more regular games at Arsenal or at the Game Preserve in Greenwood? Does anyone get out to Arsenal for games more regularly?

Arsenal has board gaming every Thu, so you might find people willing to play Sentinels then.
I'm not currently looking to game more often, but you might talk me in to it. If there's enough support for every other Tue rather than every fourth Tue, that might be cool.

I had heard about the games on Thursday, but didn't hear a lot of the other people talking about getting any games going on those days. I would definitely be up for every other Tuesday if we can get enough people to participate. It is completely up to how much interest there is. I know at least one other person who was looking forward to another southside game.

I completely forgot that Arsenal was last Tuesday. I was thinking it was next Tuesday. But last Tuesday wouldn’t have been that great for me, as I was already planning for the Thursday, and the disparity between length of the workday and holiday time given meant I had to work extra time to make up for it. Great turn out last night. We had enough to have a couple games going at all times, and there were newcomers!
I'll spare the details here, but I'm especially proud of the second game I played. Five characters vs. La Capitàn. She was at around 60 or so HP when we were all at 4 or lower. Killed off three of us. Mr. Fixer and Haka at 2 HP each. A well-timed Ground Pound let us get her significantly lower. Then Haka died, leaving just One Bad MF, who managed to finish her off. It was the biggest turn-around I've ever seen.

It may be a good time to get together before GenCon and, as a first time helper at the GTG booth, figure out what normally goes on during the day. Eleven players last night -- on an off week?! Maybe it's the pending GenCon excitement.
So, moving forward we're going to schedule every two weeks, rather than four.
Brock is going to take over working w/ the staff at Arsenal to keep us on the Tue schedule.
Our table (Bunker, TLT, Scholar, Young Legacy) beat up on Mad Bomber Blade and then decided, just for fun, to leave our hero and env setup out and bring out The Matriarch, on advanced, with H card plays to start. We were able to beat her, but it was a hard-fought battle.
Than, for kicks, we took on Advanced Voss while attempting to use an all-support team. We started with Legacy, Argent Adept, and Dark Visionary, but couldn't think of a fourth hero and ended up with Eternal Haka. With that much healing and deck control we had many, many rounds. Haka eventually got out Savage Mana and used a few rampages and Taiha hits to swallow almost every card in Voss' deck. What had appeared to be a no-win situation, quickly turned into a route of the enemy. Savage Mana was the obvious Best Card, but Twist the Ether on Haka made a huge difference, too.

Are you talking about "Another Reality's Debt"? The way I read it, you have the option to destroy all your cards, even if you don't have any. At the beginning of the game, that's surely the better option.

As I read it, you cannot destroy cards if you have none on the field to destroy. Since it came out early, we only had the discard option. It took a couple hands to rebuild and would have been fine, but Rook City kept us on our heels while the Diversions didn't let us build up. I think it was mostly using Argent Adept and Absolute Zero against a villian that destroys or discards cards. Chrono Ranger could not build up attacks and we were unable to do damage when we needed to. She flipped early, but we had bad hands.

I would think "destroy all cards" to be similar to "discard entire hand," in such that, if you have no cards in hand, you can discard all cards in hand, which would be no cards discarded, to still get the effect, you just can't discard a card, as there are no cards to choose.. You can destroy all cards in play even if there are no cards in play and still get the effect, you just can't destroy a card, as there are no cards to choose.

Another good showing at Arsenal -- I think we had ten people in all. One of my games beat the Advanced Ennead pretty handily. Having Nightmist and Legacy block villain plays two turns in a row was really helpful. I also got a great draw w/ Bunker and ended up with Flak Cannon, Grenade Launcher, and Gatling Gun all in play while in Turret Mode with enough cards to keep GG going for many rounds and doubly-boosted by Legacy. 25 points of damage a turn.
Also had a game where we beat Iron Legacy, but only by the 'grace' of a mutated lab rat finishing IL off. Half the team was incapacitated and the other half was in low single digits HPs. We would not have survived past IL's turn.

Christopher recently cut off much if not all of his beard, which is why his comment about how little beard he had in the first picture is somewhat ironic, because he again has little beard. I couldn't think of anything actually clever to say in response to that, but wanted to let him know that I got his joke and perhaps show off to others that there was a joke to understand and that I was enough in the know to get it, so I decided to try to make my own joke, by pretending that a picture of me from 25 years ago was actually a current picture, but that by not having a beard, I looked much younger.

Rough start tonight for the Arsenal group. The first two games I was involved in ended in absolute defeat at the hands of Dawn and the Matriarch, (Haka's Savage Mana was dismantled in both games before it could be used due to ongoing destruction). However, Mad Bomber Blade suffered defeat in the later game and Rabit led a second unique game. Dawn would meet her match later against a surprisingly destructive Argent Adept. Smaller group tonight, but a lot of fun.

I think we ended up having seven people in all.
Plus, there was a guy who'd come in to play in his regular Pathfinder game that meets on the same night, but walked in carrying a copy of Sentinels. Brock and I chatted with him and he clearly loves the game. Got it core game recently and played it a whole bunch. We talked mostly about what expansion he would get next.

My favorite game was against a custom villain that Russ has created. Part of my enjoyment was that this villain is based on an NPC from our D&D game, but the best part was that there was a point when it seemed clear, CLEAR I TELL YOU, that we were going to lose, but we managed to pull out a victory.
Scholar and Tachyon managed to shut down the villain's ability to do damage for about three turns. The Argent Adept built up in the meantime and helped Scholar and Tachyon do lots and lots and lots of damage.
To be sure, lots of lucky cards from the environment made a huge difference.
Still, it took some of the sting out of the massive WALLOPING my group had gotten from Citizen Dawn. Dawn had out all four of her ongoing cards and we had no ongoing destruction. We never saw a Devastating Aura and still got massively routed.

We had fun beating up on Gloomweaver twice at Comic Carnival today. We played in The Final Wasteland (sort of a song theme, if you catch my drift). The second time was on advanced (immune to melee/projectile) which, as Chrono-Ranger, was quite annoying. We did advanced because the first was so easy. It was so eay in part because Fanatic started with End of Days. She, of course, started the second game with End of Days, too. Still, without Dark Visionary rapidly pulling relics out of Gloomweaver's deck, it was at least a little challenging.
As I was leaving the rest of the group was taking on The Chairman. Not sure how they fared.

As a note to the Tuesday regulars who were unable to attend yesterday, the Arsenal will close down by the end of January. With the big snow on Sunday, there's a chance that the roads will be too icy or too deep in snow for me, but the Cultural Trail is usually clear and runs a block and a half from my house all the way to Arsenal.
As for temps, Karen has laid down the law that I am not allowed to bike in temps below -10, but from what I've read online, with proper preparation, I would be fine. I will admit, however, that I don't have all the equipment I'd need. I'd need a balaclava and probably better goggles than my old ski googles which have lost some of their lining.
I doubt I'll have those in hand by Tue. Unfortunately, if it's cold enough that I can't bike it, I probably will just stay home.

A balaclava is really useful, mainly for going under your helmet. If you don't have a balaclava, I recommend a scarf to cover your face and something to cover your helmet (even a plastic bag). Hands and feet are the other major concerns. Hands you probably know about, but some foot coverings over your shoes are helpful (depending a little on your shoes). You can use plastic bags for that, too. I also wear a long, wicking polyster undershirt and warm leggings in weather like that.
I'm pleased to see icebike.org seems to have been resurrected. That will tell you how to prepare for temperatures all the way down to Antarctica.

Eleven people at Arsenal tonight. And they had a new brisket sandwhich which was absolutely delicious, if a bit on the small side.
TheJayMann has a new job folks. I am very impressed at the position he got and he seems delighted with it. Kudos to you, Jeff. Also kudos to you for organizing a few people to share transport to STL for the upcoming Vengeance release party.
Koga showed up and brought with him not only printed decks of the final proofs from the Vengeance playtester forum and printed decks of his own custom heroes, etc., but a whole slew of custom decks from a particular person (don't know the handle/name) on BGG. My table had a great game (a win!) against the Matriarch and then elected to try out these custom decks and had a lot of fun with the mystery of just what the heck would turn up. Are they well-balanced? Dunno. Just played with them once, but it was fun, despite losing.
AND, the decks were absolutely beautiful -- both Koga's and the ones from BGG. They looked very much in the same style as Adam's art and Koga spent the time and the money to print them on very nice cards. He even made up custom dividers. At a glance, for instance, with the Vengenace decks mixed into his game boxes with all the other decks, it looked like he'd somehow gotten an early version rather than printing it himself.
There were a couple of people there I hadn't met before and still didn't meet, friends of imprimis5. Looking forward to sharing a table with you all at some point in the future.
And I did not ride my bike. Sadly, I am becoming a sloth. I let the single digit temps and likelihood of snow and ice on the road dissuade me. Next time, maybe.

Yes, I will be at Comic Carnival. Usually I ride my bike, but I don't trust the roads to be clear in the residential neighborhood between Broad Ripple and Keystone that I usually cut through, so I'm gonna have to actually drive.

Good time at Comic Carnival today. We had five people, despite the absence of a few of our regulars. A special welcome again to Blue Kae. Very nice to see you there. Sorry I was a bit protective of my cards. I'm like that.
We played one five player game with the new heroes against The Ennead in the Freedom Five Tower. It looked rough at first, but some deck manipulation and luck kept any other of the Ennead from joining the original five and we were able to handle them fairly easily.
We then played a four player game against the Vengeful Five (minus Proletariat) in the MDP. GI Legacy and Tempest with the Grievous Hailstorm were a killer combo, combining for six damage to every non-villain target every round. A couple of the heroes got pretty close to zero, but all in all a pretty comfortable victory.
After my initial playtests of the V5 I was fairly pessimistic that I would ever really enjoy playing against them -- too complicated and too time consuming. Turns out, though, that once you are familiar with them (like all new decks, duh) if you have a little extra time and are playing with people who are comfortable running a villain, it's super fun.
Quite unintentionally, The Ennead proved to be a lovely segue into a V5 game, since they have multiple villain character cards with incapacitated powers.
And I bought the Firefly game when I saw it at the store because FIREFLY! ... and it also came with bonus pieces for playing with a fifth ship.

I had fun as well, thanks a ton for bringing Vengeance along it was really fun to play, I can't wait to get my own copy once they're in the >G store.
Firefly is a great game with tons of theme, I picked it up at GenCon last year. Be sure to check out the FAQ on the game's site, there's also an intro scenario on the site you can play that's good for learning the game. The biggest thing I've learned in my play sessions is not to shy away from illegal jobs. The game is much more interesting once you're trying to plan for dealing with Misbehave cards.
Rabit, when are you going to make your glorious return to Blue Moon/Arsenal?

Nice turnout tonight. At least 14, though I'm not sure I counted everyone. We had three games going simultaneously at one point.
Attempted the all Legacy game. Gave up after a while. It's doable, but, we hadn't thought through the strategy we'd need in advance and got pretty low on hit points.

Normally this would be about the time I announce the next meetup on Tuesday, but there was a strange message today on the Blue Moon page today. This may be simply rebranding the shop to the new name, or may be something else. TheJayMann may have more information than I, but this is the post:
At 11:59 PM tonight Blue Moon Games will cease operating at its current location. Don’t worry this will only result in a short disruption to the services that you have come to expect from us. Below is a list of what this means for you.
1) The awesome gamers from Indy Tabletop are stepping up and will continue to keep the doors open so that everyone will continue to have a place to play. You will not need to relocate your games to another location.
2) Blue Moon Games will not be in operation so there will be no food or retail for sale. You are allowed and encouraged to bring in outside food or beverage.
3) If you are interested in what events will be hosted be sure to check out the Indy Tabletop Facebook page or feel free to ask here.
Stay tuned for further updates on the status of the shop. All we can say at this time is that we are working to ensure that all of your gaming needs will continue to bet met for years to come and that this interruption in operations will only be temporary.
If anyone else has any further information, please let me know for the next regular meetup. I will pass on details once I know more.
Edit: This will not actually affect the hours, but please be prepared with your own food and drinks for Tuesday. We will still be meeting at the same location at 6 on Tuesday.

I think I'll get a Union Jack Pub pizza this Tuesday for the core group (the reason I limit is because there is no real way to determine how many tag alongs will stop in). Anyone willing to make donations may do so, but not required. I plan to get a 14 inch meat pizza (I believe this means sausage, beef, pepperoni, ham, and bacon, but not entirely certian). Don't worry about a 14 inch pizza sounding like it's small, because it is between 3 to 4 inches thick. Drinks will still be offered (in 12 ounce cans and 20 ounce bottles) sold directly by Indy Table Top as a fundraiser, and only cash will be accepted. However, you are welcome to bring your own drinks as well during this off time.

I will be at Comic Carnival this coming Sunday, though I don't expect to bring Sentinel Tactics with me, as the only copy I have access to is Russ' and he'll be back in town by then.

The games tonight were moderately successful, as the first was a close win over the Vengeful Five. Unfortunately, an angry Capitan tore two tables of challengers to shreds. Hoping to bring some new people to check out Sentinels to ComicCon a week from Saturday/Sunday, so will hopefully see everyone else there! Thanks to Andy for running SotM!
Quick note: The next meetup will be in two weeks at Arsenal/Blue Moon/ (new name Redacted) as usual. Please note that the week after that, the shop will be closed for rennovations. I don't think there is any reason we can't share what Brock's up to. Craig, Brock, and I were brainstorming places we might play and hit upon Pure, which is a restaurant/bar down the street from Arsenal that has a back room and is open 'til 3am every night. Brock goes there regularly, so he's going to ask them how they'd feel about having us there. We also discussed Shapiro's as a possible location. Lots of tables, but not separated from the other diners and closes at 8. Still, I can probably get an introduction to the owner, so if Pure falls through, we might follow up on that.
What we were looking for, to larger or smaller degree: Centrally located, tables, hours, happy to have us there.

Always happy to have people come join us.
We're all just getting our feet wet with Pure, having only been there as a group once.
It's primarily a restaurant and bar. They happen to have a back area which is pretty well situated to handle a group of people playing 1 or 2 or 3 games. The tables were a bit rickety, actually, but that didn't turn out to be as annoying as I'd feared.
Everybody who went last time seemed to be ordering dinner. I like that I _can_ get food, but I also feel obligated to actually order something. While the prices are reasonable, they aren't super cheap, so I'm not quite sure how I feel about playing somewhere that people may feel obligated to buy things.
The service isn't super fast, though it also wasn't super slow. After we let the server know that people would be coming and going and ordering individually, he seemed pretty amenable to dealing with that. Hopefully the server(s) will get used to us and vice versa and things will feel smoother.
We had (I think) four small tables lined up in a long row and then there was at least another couple tables nearby. I think what would work better would be to have groups of two tables pushed together. I think that would make it a bit easier for people to group together into games. Probably not a big deal either way.

I personally did not like the being in the back. Being right next to the bathrooms made it hard to hear quite often. If you go across the street from the Murphy lot, there is a PNC parking lot. While you can't park there because of reserved spaces, you can park behind that lot and there are usually spots. However, we may need to revisit the discussion on location. It isn't ideal currently because of the traffic, parking and location, but we struggled to find a central location that would work. Shapiro's was also mentioned, but price and noise may still also been an issue. Ideas?

Think we could play in the food court at Circle Center Mall?
Cons: Not very cosy; possibly loud; Mall closes at 9pm
Pros: Lots of parking, though at a price, lots of relatively inexpensive food choices
Another possibility is the ArtsGarden – it's open until 9:30pm. Looking at the May calendar (https://www.indyarts.org/artsgarden/monthly-calendar), it looks really rare that anything is scheduled in the evening, though I know it's possible.
Cons: Not sure how conducive the tables are to boardgaming – they may just be small, round tables; Not very cosy
Pros: Lots of parking, though at a price, lots of relatively inexpensive food choices

So I sent out a mass email to my work asking if anyone had ideas of a good place to meet. One place that came up was Game Paradise http://www.gameparadisestore.com/
It seems to be right where we met last time. Only down side is it seems as though they charge to play there. Basically a giant store with tons of boardgames anyone can use and you pay to play. Maybe we could work out something with them?

The rates Game Paradise charge are a little steep for my blood. It is $35 for the month or $12.50 per visit, which isn't really saving anybody money for what we spend on food at Pure. Additionally, our normal Tuesday is also their normal Family Game Night, which could run into scheduling problems. Parking is an issue still. We can look into it and see if there is a possibility, but I am skeptical.
Circle Center is closer but often crowded and loud, as well as less private. Mass Ave would be nice, but the parking and crowds are a concern.

Would anyone be against the idea of using Midwest Gamez? It is about 4 miles west on Washington, thus not quite as centrally located, but not too bad. It’s a few feet west of the triangle of Washington, Rockville, and Holt. They have 10 tables, sell mostly collectible card games, though they do have a small section of board games and used video games, and have snack foods. Also, 50 cent soda machine (I didn’t think those existed anymore). This is the place I am trying to get our Mice and Mystics game, assuming I can get my hands on a copy.

Here's how it breaks down for me. I've been ok with Pure so far. It is far from perfect, but it allows the easiest and most central to get to for everyone, provides food for people after work, and parking is not impossible. If people feel strongly that we can do better, I want solid input and someone to help sell me on moving it. Our group is not big, new people and guests withstanding. I will make the call that we are staying unless I am given alternate solutions that will not eliminate people from getting there or costing too much. We can talk about ideas at the next meeting, but I can't keep looking without help and solid understanding on group needs.

Sounds fair. The only suggestion I've heard that I personally might like better is my own suggestion to try the food court at Circle Center Mall. Would noise be a problem? Not sure. Would it get crowded? I don't think it would be very crowded very often, but it could be.
Maybe the RAM would let us play in their back room, but I'm not sure that would be better than Pure. Just as pricey. Not sure if the parking would be better or worse.
I am happy enough to continue at Pure until we find something better. I wonder if we could approach them with our concerns about cost. Maybe they would be willing to offer us a 20% discount given that we are bringing a regular group of 6-12 people 25 times a year.

At Pure, maybe we'd be better off if instead of four tables pushed together lengthwise, we had two sets of two tables that were, er, crosswise.

The food court option sounds great to me with the exception that I'd either have to pay to park, or I would have to trek a good distance (I've done the latter; it's not impossible, but it's not very appealing given the typical end times we typically have). It is very nice for those who live in the downtown facility, as it's quick access using lesser transportation (cycling, pedestrian, skating, whatever), given that I am north of Eagle Creek prior, and am headed towards the airport after, my only real option is a car. And, if I'm paying to park and eating food court dinners, I am already paying the same cost as Pure, if not more.

The cost thing was one that gave me pause, as well as bringing my full games through the mall. More room vs. less privacy. Not sure the noise will be better. It isn't far, but requires more planning if things are going on downtown.
Andy - Agreed that we probably should break the tables up better at Pure at the very least. The other side of the coin with asking for a discount is that we probably should have a mandatory gratuity for a group of that size. Many restaraunts charge that and I would be hesitent to push the issue.

Really? Maybe it costs more to park than I realize. At Pure I orderd a sandwhich and a beer and paid close to $20 after tax and tip.

I also tip fairly well, but a mandatory (usually 20%) tip on the bill may turn others off.
The sandwiches at Pure are about $7-9, I got out of there with a salad for $9. The mall parking is $2 for less than 3 hours (presuming you go after 5 PM), $4 for after. (However, an event can up those prices significantly). If you get a meal and parking, it will average about the same depending on your drink of preference and how long you stay. Think of it as higher average price (Pure) to parking plus variable food options. The only option around this is to find a place with free parking that doesn't have food so people don't feel compelled to pay anything.
*Edit: Meant to say $4 for 3-5 hours at the mall after 5 PM

Hey everyone,
Due to the last meetup at Pure, management (meaning everyone) has decided to pursue other venues. I believe Circle Center Mall food court was decided for next Tuesday, the 27th at 6. If you also have any alternate ideas in the downtown area for future meetups, we will use these criteria: is the price reasonable for everyone? is there enough parking? would there be reasonable access to food/drink/(beer)? is it relatively close to downtown? Please help us to figure out a new regular spot that will work for everyone!

I believe that [ANONYMOUS](who would like to remain anonymous) had stated interest in MoJoe’s Coffee House, which is off Michigan and Senate, which appears to have a small customer only free parking lot, as well as The Funkyard, which is in Fountain Square, between Prospect, Morris, and Shelby, and has free parking because it’s in Fountain Square.

Honestly, that was just something that sounded funny in my head. It's not that he wants to be anonymous, but, rather, that he doesn't really want to participate in the forums, which is why he is funnelling his ideas through me. When I was first drafting the message, my first thought of how to write the idea that he isn't much into participating was to say "who wishes to remain anonymous." While this was not correct, I found this to be humourous, to the extent that I decided not to edit this.
In any case, the main reason I came to respond was the fact I see it will be raining for the next three days, and the decision to meet at the food court, and my desire not to use a parking garage or meter, I likely will not attend. I'm assuming this will likely be a joyous occasion for some.

I enjoyed playing at the mall better than at Pure, though it still has issues. My main problem with it is the noise, though it wasn't as bad as Pure. I'd be willing to keep going to the mall if nothing better is found.
We had seven people tonight. One of the games was advanced vs. Baron Blade w/ an alteration that BB would win on his first side with 10 cards in the trash. Came down to the wire, but we lost.

Meeting at the mall worked much better this time, in my opinion, as we were able to get food at the food court, if so desired, then play in Arts Garden. They tables there aren't ideal, but sufficed.
We eventually had a total of five people, but by the time our fourth person actually brought a copy of the -GAME-, one of the first three had headed home. Still, we had some good games -- losing to and then beating Iron Legacy, and then losing to Plague Rat. We started that game w/ three Infections followed by Afflicted Frenzy. Oof.

How would y'all like to meet at the Lockerbie Pub? https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Lockerbie-Pub/99082703138
I think it's got everything we're looking for:
1) It's near downtown -- Michigan St, just west of College Ave.
2) Free parking -- a small lot in back and street parking free after about 6pm
3) A variety of inexpensive food.
4) Booths and tables of useful sizes
I talked to a bartender there yesterday and he said that Tuesday nights are usually pretty quiet -- they might have a few tables of people. He didn't seem put off by my mention of a group of 7-8 people playing a geeky card game. I didn't see any ashtrays or smell a lot of smoke. The bartender was taking a smoke break outside. There's a small bike rack in the back.
It's not perfect. There isn't a room tucked away from the rest of the pub. If there's an event going on, lots of people might crowd the place to watch the TV. Still, I think the main knock on the Mall/Arts Garden is that it seems sort of institutional, lacking in character. Plus the tables in the ArtsGarden are annoyingly small.
I can go either way. What do y'all think?

I'm assuming, since you are headed out east, and that you are familiar with Plainfield, that you will be taking 70 East. If that is correct, then you are going to be coming up from the south when going down town. Unfortunately, I65 North only has an exit for Washington, while I65 South has exits for all streets other than Washington (including Michigan). However, you should be able to take the Washington exit, headed westbound, then north on College (one way), until you get to Michigan. After turning westbound on Michigan (one way), you should see the pub on the south side of the street (stay in the left lane). Immediately past the pub there is an alley that leads to a small parking lot.

I meant to post this yesterday, as this information would have been more useful then. Last weekend was the grand opening of a new gamestore, named White Flag Games, in Mooresville, IN, (even though they had actually been open a couple weeks prior). They are located on the north west side of the Churchill and Monroe intersection, across from the Pizzaville. As the building is owned by Pizzaville, the only outside food allowed is food from Pizzaville.
The reason I bring this up is that I've noticed on their schedule is a planned event every Monday night at 6pm for Sentinels play. This now provides a new venue for those in central indiana who wishes to play the game, and having a much more convenient location for those who live on the south, west, and southwest sides. As an added bonus, this location is far too out of my way to attend in any regular fasion, so, for those who wish to get out and play, but also wish to avoid me, can do so by attending this weekly event.
Andy, I don't think I can come up with a decent bike route from downtown to this place. Kentucky Avenue/IN-67 is a fairly busy highway, though there are some less traveled roads which provide alternate routes, and, if you end up on Southport Road near Camby, it is an official bike route, though it's one where the bikers share the road with motor vehicles; there are no bike lanes or paths. Should you wish to attend this event, it may be better to make use of a motor vehicle for making the trip.

HOWEVER, with Craig leaving, this get-together may have come to its end. My interest in continuing to attend a public get-together has waned. I would be interested in reviving a Tuesday meetup, but at a new location. Already, three of us are meeting at Hero's Emporium, just to the north east of Broad Ripple, for a different game, but we would be more than happy to have an occasional Sentinels game interrupt us. The store owner is interested in having us start there, and one of the regulars (who also just happens to show up occasionally on Tuesdays) is a very big fan of the game. Should enough people be interested in meeting regularly, I would have no problem setting this up.
Also, I have convinced the store to participate in the Month of Multiverse event promoted by Greater than Games, that is, assuming they can get the flier's/promos. (Last I heard, he hadn't gotten a response from Craig yet, but that was almost a week ago that I checked).

Strange. Upon an exhaustive search of my email, I don't have an email from them. I can still get stuff in the mail, but I need to know where to send it. :-)

Looks like that's a 9 mile ride -- a bit more than I'm probably willing to do on a regular basis on a weeknight. I might make it very occassionally. If it was on a weekend, I might make it more often.

I'll let him know tonight that you didn't get his email, but that I submitted the necessary information. Hopefully this won't negatively impact this weekend.

I found that on their contact us page. Hopefully that one will work. If not, I'll have him try again himself.

The only issues with a weekend date is that on Saturday I'm usually with friends (late afternoon - evening), and Sunday's they are only open for special events. However, I am open to a possible occasional Saturday (I already try to make the third Saturday of the month work, as that is when Indy Tabletop meets at this location), as well as it's possible in the future my friends may start meeting on Friday again instead of Saturday.
Also, the other reason I was pulling for Tuesday is that Sean of LM Studios (who is a big fan of Sentinels) usually frequents the store on Tuesdays. I'm not sure of his schedule on Saturdays.

I have worked out a regular Sentinels schedule for Hero's Emporium. For now, Sentinels will meet on the first Tuesday of the month. I realize this can conflict with Andy's schedule, as sometimes the first Tuesday of the month is one of the Tuesdays he is unavailable, as well, a weekday is inconvenient for him. If Andy (as well as anyone else who's schedule does not align well with this) would like to meet at this location on a weekend, I can also look to see if I can work out a Saturday schedule as well.
Tomorrow will be a Sentinels Tactics game, with a couple copies being brought. There won't be promo cards available, however, as the owner had never recieved any promo copies.

On Tuesday, I could show up as early as 4pm, but I think most will show at 5pm or later. I know the Mice and Mystics group (which is a subset of the sentinels group) all get in before 6:30 pm. I’m still not sure when Shawn (from LM Studios) would show, as I have not had a chance to talk to him since setting up the meetup. Once a regular following starts, I can probably figure out a standard start time.

I know I can't make it till about 6:30 pm as I get off work at 6 pm, but I do sometimes have the day off, at least until they schedule me full time again.

There was a fairly decent turnout last Tuesday, with two groups of 4 each. At least one person will have difficulty showing up on Tuesdays, so I am considering expanding the meetups to also include a Saturday as well. The third Saturday is probably not a good day, as the Indy Tabletop will be meeting, and, while there would be some overlap between Indy Tabletop and Sentinels, there likely wouldn't be much room for both. I feel maybe the second Tuesday would be a good day for a second meetup at this location. If anyone has any feedback about this, I would like to know. Otherwise, I believe I will work with the store owner to set up a Saturday meetup as well.

Just as a reminder, Sentinels tonight at Heroes Emporium. I believe I will make the official time at 5pm. I will be showing up earlier, and, if you show up later than that, it is not a problem.
Also, next Sentinels meetup at Heroes Emporium after today will be on Pi day (3.1415). I plan to have some pie ready in celebration. Starting at 11am (assuming I can get out of bed that early), and lasting until the shop closes (though I will likely depart between 4pm and 5pm). This is the first Tuesday and second Saturday of every month.

Howdy all,
I live just outside of downtown Indy, and I'd love to come check out the Sentinels group. I'm somewhat new to GtG's website, but a huge fan of their games. If I stop in on Pi Day around 12/1 ish will there be room for another player?

There exists a chance that I will be in town sometime in April, either early or late. Think we might have a Sentinels night while I'm there, once I know when?

The place is located at the intersection of 65th and Keystone, about 3 or 4 doors down from Kroger. It is titled Heroes Emporium. Technically, it will be Indy Tabletop day as well, given that the 18th will be Who’s Yer Con, and the 11th is international tabletop day. Hopefully it is not too crowded.

Store opens at 11am, and will be open all day (I think they close roughly 10pm or so). This meetup will coincide with Indy Tabletop and International Tabletop day. There will be people there all day, and people from Indy Tabletop willing to start in and jump in some Sentinels games as well, so you can show up and leave at any time.

Indy Tabletop is the group who use to meet at the Arsenal on Thursdays and once a month on Saturdays. After the close of the Arsenal, they first moved to Comic Book University, then finally moved to Heroes Emporium. They also now house the former Arsenal game library there as well.

Just a reminder, for those who still plan to attend, tomorrow and this Saturday are the Sentinel meetup days for this month. Because of my typical busy Saturday schedule, I will not likely stay beyond 5pm, and may leave earlier if the turnout is very small.

Because I’m not feeling very well, I will no be attending tonight’s Sentinels game. I have also been informed anotner regular will not attend tonight either. Anybody else who wants to attend may do so; however, two regulars will not be there, so attendance may be small. I hope to feel better this Saturday for the weekend meetup.

I do apologies for the late reply. The times for the meetups are the first Tuesday of the month starting about 4 or 5 pm lasting until close, and the second Saturday of the month, starting at open (10am, I believe) lasting until close. However, typically, on Saturdays, I tend to leave earlier than close, as I have other evening plans for Saturday.
