Ongoing Indy meetup at Arsenal?

We had six people at Arsenal tonight – four forum regulars and a couple walk-ins who were very enthusiastic.

We’re considering doing this regularly and the consensus was for a Wed, once a month.

I have something that’s scheduled every other Wed, so simply picking the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Wed of the month is problematic for me, as sometimes that would put me in conflict.

For those interested, would it work for you if we started on Wed July 25th and then met every four Weds, such that it would be a bit more often than once a month? The first few dates would be July 25, Aug 22, Sep 19, Oct 10.

Timing would start at 6pm and go as late as people are interested and the store is open (10pm).

I know that I already gave my opinion earlier, but I figured I’d try to get some traction going. I’m in.

Personally I’d prefer something a bit more frequent than once every four weeks, but I can understand how busy you might be. I’d be in for what you’d suggest, and then maybe if a subset wanted to meet prior to the next official meetup, so be it.

On the other hand, having a less frequent period would make it simpler to work in against my work schedule, making it easier to make the time to get off early enough to have a decent amount of playtime.

Unfortunately I couldn’t do Wednesday nights as I have a D & D game at Gamerz on Wednesday. I would love to come if its another night though.

I’ll be there as often as I can, as long as the dates are posted and I can plan ahead far enough. The every four Wednesdays is a nice idea.

Looking forward to whatever is decided. Trying to find regular evenings that everyone can hit is going to be tough, though. I’m personally good with any evening except Tuesdays and Fridays.

Funny, I have nearly the same limitations.

I’m going to go ahead with the every four Wed idea, but I think it would be fantastic if there was enough interest to get a group going on another day as well.

I’ll plan on posting reminders for each upcoming event.

Well… I was one of the original people pushing for a Wednesday game, due to the fact that I just started to attend a regular video night every Tuesday with some friends. I just found out today that, starting next week, they are going to move the video night to Wednesdays. Of course, I believe that, for so many people, Wednesdays well outvote Tuesdays, even if I were to switch my vote over. I guess I’ll just be missing one video night every four weeks then.

Hmm… looks like, not next meetup, but the one after that, will be the next Wednesday after GenCon. Of which I have finally gotten my volunteer schedule. I’ll be working the lines Wednesday 11am - 7pm, and checking badges Thursday 9am - 5pm .

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that, of the twelve events listed here in the new events section, eleven have to do with Indianapolis?

Well… That might be motivation for other areas to post their own events. And maybe to create their own events.

You’ll notice that all the Indy event threads were started by you and arenson9, though. (I’m not counting the GenCon/PAX Prime thread, only because it’s a large con and those are going to be different conversations.) If someone in another city posts about (or even getting directly involved with) their local cons, or posts about getting together at a local game shop, they’ll probably have growth similar to Indy’s.
