SotM Event #19: The Undead Poet Society

In honor of Lillian becoming a hero (pure speculation at this point), we are going to have an SotM poetry contest!

In honor of Lillian, the poem should be dark, and based on anything SotM (characters, setting, etc.)

Formatting

Because the forum ruins any sort of formatting, there are going to be some rules.

-Please submit your poem in a Google Doc. If you don’t have access to Google Docs, PM me, and I will set one up for you.

-At the top of the page should be the title of your poem, but not your name.

-You have free reign on the formatting (e.g. location, spacing, size, color, etc.), but, please, no pictures.

-The poem cannot be longer than 1 page.

-The name of your Doc should be: SotM Event #19: (YOUR NAME). This should not be on the page itself.

Submitting

-To submit your entry, send me a link with the Doc on it.

-I will copy your entire page into a master Doc for easy reading. I am going to use “select all”, so please make it easy to copy by no having your name on the page.

-After submitting your entry, I will send you a link to view the master Doc.

Judging

-I will send the Doc to GtG for judging. Their decision is based on which one they like the best, and what sort of bribes they received.

-Your poem should not have your name attached while judging. Only include it in the name of your Doc.

Deadline

-You will have until 3-12 (about three week) to write your poem.

-I will release the Doc to the forum after the deadline (NO CHEATING!)

Prize

GtG will perform a dramatic reading of the winning poem and upload it to YouTube.

Are multiple submissions allowed? I have a few ideas on ways to go with this, and wanted to know if I should be focusing on one.

Who entered a contest Pydro had

But there's not much judging to do

When the number of entries is two

and isn't that really so sad?

What I said was that judging was slight

My intent was to not cause a fight

With more entries than one

The haiku is a very short thing

and while I'm sure that its praises you'll sing

I don't care to express

my ideas in much less

than five lines and two rhymes and a zing.

I have but one concern that on this day,

Your cards are played, in sooth, far from your vest.

And when Christopher spoke, the thread did it stop.

For his words were true and always sublime.

They ended the strife shedding not one drop

of ink which for an artist is the greatest crime.

Christopher and I are going over the poems very soon. He's been in full-on design mode, so we want to get to a point where he can be distracted for a bit.

Greetings, poets and poetry aficionados alike.

The poems have been judged, and it was very difficult to come to a conclusion of just one winner. However, since I had to read the winning poem on camera, we weren't going to declare a tie - that would be twice as much poetry for me to recite and that's far too much. That said, there were many excellent entries and we enjoyed them all.

Apologies for being all silent and mysterious; I missed seeing the updates somehow!

Thank you all for your warm reception of my poetry! I plan to expand it into a full-length tragedy, entitled Titus Omnitronicus. Expect a stage production (starring Christopher as Omnitronicus X) to hit the Globe by next spring. 

Those were some great submissions, fellow poets. I am especially fond of "The Moonfall Villanelle."
