<Best Forum Activity 2014 Award Winner>

For this event, you are going to create a team of 5 heroes, as well as a reserve of 10 ten heroes. I will create random matches for your team to go up against. If a hero falls, one in reserve will take its place. However, there isn't a general reserve, but each reserved hero needs to be assigned to one of the starting heroes in order. So, let's say I start with the F5, and I want Chrono-Ranger as a reserve, so I put him behind Bunker. Now, if Bunker is ever incapped, Chrono-Ranger takes his place. Think carefully about what role each hero fills, and who should replace them if they fall.

*The event will go until one team is left standing.

*If the heroes lose a game, all heroes are incapped, regardless of how they lost.

*If you lose, do not replay the round, simply move on to the next round.

*You need to put the reserved heroes in order. So, you might have something like this Bunker -> Chrono-Ranger -> Expat.

*Each starting hero needs to heroes in reserve, for a total of 15 heroes.

*If one column is completely incapped, you can still play, but you will have to field one less hero, regardless of how many other heroes are in reserve.

*If you can only field 2 heroes, you are out of the event, regardless of how many heroes are left in reserved.

*I will randomize all matches, and all teams will play the same villain/environment combo in the same order. Until I get confirmation that most EU has recieved thier pre-orders, WCos, will not be part of the random games, but the heroes can be picked (if you have them).

*I will post the first game in a few days, after some teams have been picked.

*The first 5 games will be on normal, after that the games will be on advance.

*No promo heroes can be used.

*You do not have to use the same hero order from game to game.

*You get one "redo", where you can reply a match, but you need to accept the second result.

Here is the form to submit your team. Please feel free to post it here as well.

Here is the form to submit your games. Please feel free to post it here as well.

Here is the list of teams and who you need to face each round. If you redo the game, only submit the second game’s results, and select that you used your redo. Remember, the first five games are normal, after that, everything is advance.

You can still submit a team and join the fun, hust fill out the team form, and start playing.

Oooh, neat idea!

I took my 4-hero team from event #14 and added in Tempest.  If promo characters were allowed, I'd have used Prime Warden Tempest and kept Rook City Wraith, but as it stands, my first string is Legacy, Parse, Wraith, Tempest, Scholar.  Pretty straightforward all-around amazingness, so I will be sad when that lineup changes due to injury.

Legacy is taking point primarily for damage boosts.  Anything else that he can do could be done from anywhere else in the turn order, but for the idea of boosting the entire group's damage I went with Chrono-Ranger as the primary backup and Ra as the secondary.

Parse is the primary manipulator, so Visionary is her backup.  After that I went with Sky-Scraper - not necessarily for directly affecting the opposition decks, but for the ability to wreak havoc with links as was demonstrated to me in a recent PBF game.

Wraith is just plain uber, but this slot was intended mainly for damage so Haka and then K.N.Y.F.E. are lined up behind her.

Tempest has ridiculously good capabilities overall, but I wanted the backups focused on support so Argent Adept and then the Sentinels landed here.

The Scholar isn't just a damage sponge, but that's where I usually try to start off with him.  Same thing for the Naturalist.  NightMist isn't in the same boat but ended up here anyway.

There are some heroes here that I don't play very often.  There are some that I really like that aren't in these lineups.  If I were building three distinct teams that would succeed each other once the prior team could no longer field at least 3 heroes, I would definitely change things up.  I'm excited to see how this plays out!

Hello. Relative newbie here. I'm a longtime lurker but rare poster.

But this idea sounds fun and innovative, and I may be interested in joining, if you don't mind a newbie that is (which I'm sure you don't), but I did have a few questions before deciding:

1. After the villain and environment are selected, is this just a play-on-your-own type situation and report the results here? Or is this some type of PBF or Hangout thing?

2. Is there a time frame when you have to play each game by? Love playing Sentinels but I know sometimes things can get busy (as I'm sure is true for anybody), so I may not be able to play a game right away, but it probably wouldn't be too long before I'd get to it. But I wouldn't want to hold everyone up either.

3. Will Vengeance villains be used? I guess it could work the first couple of games, but as the teams start having a different number of heroes, it might be trickier.

4. How long do we have to come up with our teams (do you have a specific deadline in mind)? If I'm going to play, I'd like to consult with my wife to come up with our heroes/reserves. But, again, don't want to hold things up too much.

5. No promo heroes ... are you kidding me? (Just to be perfectly clear, this last one is a joke ... it sounds like a perfectly fine rule... but my wife's going to be mad at me if she can't use Beacon or Super Scientific Tachyon ;) ).

Anyway, great idea! Look forward to possibly playing. And, if I can't/don't participate, I'm sure I'll enjoy just watching the results. Thanks! :)

I don't mind a newbie, and POST MORE!

You can play them anyway way you want. They can be by yourself and report the resutls, or in a hangout game (lots of great people there), or even a PBF game (great people there too). As long as you are playing, I don't care how.

No time frame at all. The score of your team will be based on how many rounds you can go. If that takes 2 days, great, 2 months, also great.

No, for reason you mentioned, I should have mentioned this above, sorry.

I am going to post the first three games in white text tomorrow night. This way people can get started, and if you need more time to come up with your team, you cannot look (honor system here folks). The teams up unitl then will be released to, just don't look at the sheet until you submit your team.

Thanks for all your answers and the welcoming, and I'm in. :)

Team has been officially submitted. Some difficult decisions had to be made, but I still think it's a good team, and I'm quite interested to see how it all plays out.

Here's my team and the reserves:

Legacy >> Haka >> The Naturalist

Visionary >> The Wraith >> Parse

Argent Adept >> Omnitron X >> Capt. Cosmic

Tempest >> Tachyon >> Unity

KNYFE >> Ra >> Expatriette

Good luck, everyone!

This looks like fun! Another great idea, Pydro.

Here's my teams, assigned to the (very rough) roles that I wanted filled by at least one team member in any given game:

Utility:

  1. Tempest
  2. Argent Adept
  3. The Sentinels

Control/Damage:

  1. Wraith
  2. KNYFE
  3. Nighmist

Control:

  1. Visionary
  2. Parse
  3. Sky-Scraper

Damage Mitigation:

  1. Naturalist
  2. Scholar
  3. Omnitron-X

Team Support/Damage/Misc.:

  1. Legacy
  2. Ra
  3. Chrono-Ranger

Hi all,

I've lurked on the forums for a while now, and even participated in a couple of other events, but this one seems like worlds of fun, so I figured I'd make my first post here.  My team and reserves are as follows, then:

Ra–>Legacy–>Wraith

Visionary–>Argent Adept–>Parse

Chrono-Ranger–>Fixer–>Haka

KNYFE–>Sentinels–>Setback

Tachyon–>Tempest–>Nightmist

I tried to keep some sort of a "role" thing going on, but by the third string, I tried to add reliable damage to most slots.  With Setback as the game-changing wildcard, hopefully.  :stuck_out_tongue:   I look forward to the event.

Alright, I got my team put together.

The actuator
Legacy->Argent Adept-->Scholar

The big meaty beats
Wraith(As she is too good to pass up)->Haka-->Ra

The manipulator
Parse -> Visionary--Tachyon(Card draw and stopping damage)

The multitasker
Omni-tron X -> Naturalist ->Captain Cosmic

The AoE/Utility
The Sentinels->Tempest->Sky-Scraper

Shame I had to pass up some of my favorite heroes(Fixer, Setback, Unity) but I figured reliability was more important.

I also figure this will rapidly become harder as I lose the first couple heroes, but eh, you do what you do.

The War Report, first three rounds.

Round 1: What is usually a pushover team of wannabes turned deadly. The Ennead pummeled my heroes unrelentingly, pulling out a fresh member every time I was on the cusp of victory. My team put down all nine and escaped with fewer than twelve combined hit points. Haka was left behind in the belly of the Kraken.
Visionary - Argent Adept - Sky-Scraper - Absolute Zero - Haka (RIP)

Round 2: With the addition of KNYFE, the team went through Kismet like a bad taco through a large intestine: fast and messy. The unlucky Argent Adept took a beating from his teammates, but no one else dropped below 20 HP.
Visionary - Argent Adept - Sky-Scraper - Absolute Zero - KNYFE

Round 3: Man, I hate the Dreamer. And my team seems to have problems with large numbers of villain targets. The gunmen of Silver Gulch, amped up by Sky-Scraper's links, helped immensely in putting down projections. In the last round, Sky-Scraper saved the team from annihilation by Monolithing up, but the damage was too much for her.
Visionary - Argent Adept - Sky-Scraper (RIP) - Absolute Zero - KNYFE

How are the first few rounds treating you?

I have only completed round 1 and I suffered near the same results as you ending with Parse and Omnitron-X at 1. Ra and Legacy at 3. And wraith with 2 hp. One more villain turn and I would have lost all of my first team. All 9 came out to try and make sure I lost the first. Parse is my MVP for this match.

Round 1: Heroes Begin To Get Cocky

Legacy-Tachyon-Scholar-Tempest-Absolute Zero

A first round Inspiring Presence and Hypersonic Assault meant the writing was on the walls early on, and even though a first round leaky room slowed things down a tad there wasn't much the Ennead could do to put up with the onslaught. All heroes (apart from Absolute Zero,) end at 20 HP or above.

Round 2: Heroes Start to Get Full of Themselves

Legacy-Tachyon-Scholar-Tempest-Absolute Zero

Another fortuitous first round Inspiring Presence and Hypersonic Assault proves to be useful. Adding a first round Electrical Storm and Cold Snap meant the talisman wasn't a problem, and in the end all heroes end at full health apart from a Pushing the Limits Tachyon and Absolute Zero residing in an exploding Cryo Chamber.

I'd like to start a "I hate the Dreamer in Silver Gulch" fan club.  I used by reboot because the Dreamer liked having 2 tooth faeries out and if we blew up an explosive wagon, the lowest HP hero had to take 12 damage to get the Dreamer to survive.  On her flip side she did just that, so I reset.  Lowest HP character at the time had 5 health.

Can't post game 4.

Got VERY lucky in the beginning (sorta).  Started w/ Diplomatic Envoy and What Doesn't Kill You.  When we got through Diplomatic Envoy, got 2x What Doesn't Kill You on the start of the turn, then Diversionary Tactics revealed Explosion in the Lab and The Memo (or whatever it's called), still at the start, flipping Ms. Information and then destroying The Memo.

She then proceeded to deal a ton of damage (reduced by 2 thanks to shielding winds), and killed Setback (he got better! (silver lining, 14 tokens)) and got Argent Adept down to 1 hp before we took her down.  Still....scary!

However, I cannot add the game, as the form only allows up to game 3 at the moment.

Well the Dreamer destroyed my heroes. I used the reset after losing the first game basically turn one after she started with two dark heroes in play and then played one of her card that put in 3 more projections. Mixed with the Whipacorn and Arachnid my team never saw the light. Second game started much better but towards the end my team ran out of steam. Ended with me losing Parse, Wraith, Legacy, and Ra. Omnitron X walked away from the fight with exactly 1 hp left. It was a tense moment as I figured out the damage for the villain turn, subtracting for his plating and then figuring out exactly what each of the incaped heroes had to do for me to win. Luckily turn order wise Omnitron X went last for me.

Conclusion- I hate the Dreamer.

@Matchstickman:  I would think so.  It says if the heroes lose a game, but doesn't specify "lose by being incapped."  Unless, of course, you use a redo.  But I'm not an authority on this particular event.

In other news, the first four matches have been interesting.  By far, The Dreamer has been the most challenging.  Both Chrono and KNYFE ended up down, but Ra, Tachyon, and Visionary were able to clear out the remaining projections that following turn.  And thankfully.  Even just the hits from The Dreamer herself would have incapped Visionary and Tachyon both, leaving just Ra left, and that would have been rough.  The other three fights have been easier, with Kismet probably providing the least resistance.  Its entertaining getting to see how these different teams are stacking up.

Well, that went downhill rapidly.

Team (Legacy, Tachyon, Visionary, Haka, Tempest) handled the Ennead without much trouble.  Had them on the ropes by the 3rd round and finished them off early in the 4th.  Nuit arriving as a reinforcement did not help them much since she immediately drew a lot of attacks and went down in a single round.  MVP was the Legacy-Tempest combo; Galvanize + Inspired Presence adding damage to Electrical Storm/Squall/Tempest one-shots.  Haka and Tachyon chipped in, but the former combo wore out the Ennead wholesale.  And Geb got eaten by the Kraken.

Kismet wasn't too much trouble either.  Some intial issues when she rolled out Lady Luck and Inconceivable Obstruction in Round 2.  But Visionary and Tachyon took shots at it and it eventually went down.  Haka drew a number of Jinxes, but Kismet never really got the opportunity to make damage stick.  MVP was Tachyon; a couple of well-timed Hypersonic Assaults and she finished off the villain with a couple of 16-point Lightning Barrages.

And then came the fight with the Dreamer...

She trashed the team after flipping.  Environment had an Explosives Wagon out, and after the psychic damage attack the 3 card play pulled out about seven projections which incapped three heroes. The other two went done the next round.

So we opt for the mulligan.

And The Dreamer kicked their asses again.  Things looked better going into the flip, and a Take Down was in place to reduce how quickly a ton of projections came back out.  But then HP started running low, an Explosives Wagon came out again,  and heroes started dropping leaving the rest really vulnerable.  Ended up having 7 projections under The Dreamer, but another a combination of two Dark Heroes and an Illusonary Demon were too much.

So the first team is down and out.  Time to see how the second line fares against Miss Information.

The War Report, Round 4-6

Miss Information @ Freedom Tower: Using Omni's Timeshift, I brought out enough clues to flip Miss Information quite quickly. Too quickly. Foolishly quickly. Lacking enough time to set-up, the fight quickly became a battle to survive. With her last HP, Visionary mind wrested the Diplomatic Envoy and saved the rest of the team. Omnitron, meanwhile, drew useless card after useless card, and died without ever seeing the Technological Advancement or plating that would have saved his life. Argent Adept kept the rest alive with heals, and AZ built up enough HP to take her down. Ouch. Considered using replay. Decided to press on.
Visionary (RIP) - Omnitron X (RIP) - Argent Adept - Absolute Zero - KNYFE

Akash'Bhuta @ Realm of Discord: Visionary's replacement, Parse, almost immediately locked Akash's deck down, getting rid of those nasty eruptions. Cap Cosmic loaded KNYFE up with 7 constructs and gave the Adept some tools to go combo-nuts with damage boosts. The rest was just a matter of time. Victory is sweet.
Parse - Captain Cosmic - Argent Adept - Absolute Zero - KNYFE

Advance Baron Blade @ Rook City: My team's slow set-up almost sunk them, but one final flurry from KNYFE flipped the Baron before he could pull the moon down on Termina--I mean, Rook City. Though Blade was handing out some serious hurt with S&B, with some more combos from Cap and Adept, KNYFE carved through the Baron's mech suit without too much difficulty. Zero helped, too.
Parse - Captain Cosmic - Argent Adept - Absolute Zero - KNYFE

Dreamer gets my vote for the worst so far, though we'll see if advanced Dawn does anything to change that.

Citizen Dawn took down Argent Adept and Tempest.  But that was her fatal mistake.  Tempest made everyone immune to energy damage.

Legacy and Wraith stepped up to take their places against La Capitan and beat her down like a chump.  Siege Breaker was her only minion left standing, with no damage taken.  He watched helplessly as Tachyon hit La Capitan with 2 Lightspeed Barrages and Scholar knew when to turn loose.

Plague Rat was a close fight.  Only one character was infected, and that was the Wraith.  However, 2 Fumbling Fools and a Wrong Time and Place meant that all her boosted self-inflicted damage was redirected to the Plague Rat.  However, after a few rounds of this, Setback had Wrong Time and Place out a bit too long and dropped to 3 hp.  Soon after, a Plucky Break and Proverbs and Axioms brought him back up just in time for Plague Rat to be defeated.  Key cards were: Heroic Interception, Wrong Time and Place, 2x Fumbling Fool (despite causing allies to discard some VERY nice cards!)

Ambuscade started out with Custom Hand Cannon, 2x Reactive Plating, Sonic Mines, and an Automated Turret.  Thanks to an early Inspiring Presence the damage reduction was no issue.  Cloaking Device only came out once and was taken out quickly.  On the last turn, Proverbs and Axioms lead to Legacy dealing himself 5 damage to boost everyone's damage by +1, then Setback dealing 6 damage to himself to deal 9 damage to Ambuscade.  The Wraith dealt 6 to herself to deal 7 damage to Ambuscade, then dealt 7 more to Ambuscade to finish him off.

Rounds 11-18 have been randomized, which means all non-Wcos villains are in the game. 17 and 18 might be easier, but it might be a problem getting there.

I must say, I struggled much more with the last four than the first four.  Which, I guess, is to be expected. Ra, Visionary, Mr. Fixer, The Sentinels, and Tachyon took on these four, and only one of those made it to the end.  Akash wasn't too bad, just requiring a lot of time.  Advanced Blade was the opposite.  A very fast bash, with high damage on both sides.  Luckily, I made it past those two on my first try.

Advanced Dawn pulled Hammer, Assault, Summer, and Winter, and Blood as her first turn play,  which I almost immediately knew was going to lead to my redo.  And I was correct.  The second game went much better, with HP again getting dangerously low, but all heroes still active when the dust settled.

Then came La Capitan.  That was an uphill struggle the entire time, and I pretty much lost.  Four incaps later, I managed to hit her for the necessary four damage (Overdrive with Pipe Wrench in play).  With Mr. Fixer at 2HP left, it was barely a win.  I did keep myself from losing all five this game, however, and so I'm glad for that.  Hopefully, The additions of Legacy, Argent Adept, Setback, and Tempest can help the push through the next few games.

That is true.  He was probably one of the best to carry over to Plague Rat.  And having very recently played against Plague Rat for the living campaign going on, I know what to expect to a degree.  I only started playing against villains on advanced very shortly before this event, and I hadn't played advanced Plague Rat before then.

THE JIMENI SQUAD

THE STORY...

"Legacy," Visionary called, entering the command center. "It's K.N.Y.F.E. She's calling."

"No, she's not," Legacy said, looking at the blank monitor. Then it gave out a loud bleep, displaying the message: INCOMING CALL: K.N.Y.F.E.

Legacy shook his head and answered the videophone.

"Aye, Laddie, we got ourselves a fine mess. We're hearing the Ennead's up to no good at Atlantis. ... Ra around?"

"Haven't seen him. But we're gonna need some help. Can you get in touch with Tempest? I'll call the Adept, and Visionary and I will meet you at the port."

Before long, Legacy, Visionary, the Argent Adept, Tempest and K.N.Y.F.E. were in the Legacy Sub, traveling the deep ocean. Soon they came upon the long lost Ruins of Atlantis, and sure enough, there was the Ennead mucking stuff up, probably looking for some ancient power to enhance their own.

It was a brutal battle. The Ennead were tough, hammering the poor heroes, delivering blow after devastating blow, nearly knocking out Argent Adept. But his own songs, a cleansing downpour and Legacy's motivational ways helped keep him on his feet... barely.

And the team held together; Legacy being all inspiring and galvanizing; Visionary warning her friends of dangers to come and demoralizing her foes; Tempest calling in squalls and lightning to punish them; and K.N.Y.F.E just cutting them down.

Even a kraken joined in on the fight, its huge tentacles taking down a few of the Ennead itself. Soon the last member of the Ennead fell, and the team cheered and rushed to Argent Adept's aid.

As they were about to head back to the sub, though, an energy portal opened. and the five of them were sucked in. By looking at all the strange sights -- from all centuries, past and future -- they realized they were in some sort of time cataclysm.

Out of nowhere, a red-haired woman appeared and looked them all over.

"I think the time of your demise has come," she cackled.

"What makes you think that, lady?" Tempest asked, preparing to unleash lightning at this stranger.

"It's Kismet," she said with a deliciously evil smile, as she rubbed the talisman around her neck.

TO BE CONTINUED...

GAMEPLAY...

Well, our first one was a rough battle. We sincerely thought we'd lose Argent Adept. He got as low as 4 hp (maybe lower), but through self-healing, Cleansing Downpour and Motivational Charge, we managed to keep him standing. One round near the end, we were even able to plan it so that the two Kraken cards (one of which was out and one of which we knew was coming out) would be able to take down two members of the Ennead. And, ultimately, all our heroes made it through; Argent Adept survived with 5 hp.

THE JIMENI SQUAD, PART II

THE STORY

Kismet thought she knew what fate lay in store for the five heroes, but the squad proved her wrong.

Legacy kept his team inspired, and even lashed out a few hits himself (He usually never hits a lady, but she wasn’t being very ladylike, he reasoned).

Kismet lashed out with jinxes. She scattered some minds, and even made our heroes turn on each other.

One could see Argent Adept’s shaky hand as he played his instruments, his nerves probably heightened because of the last battle, but he would not be shaken. He played with heart and gusto, giving his friends the boosts they needed.

K.N.Y.F.E. burst forward with her energy sword, slashing away at this new foe. Tempest unleashed lightning after lightning, reclaiming such knowledge from the deep.

At one point Legacy found himself with Kismet’s talisman. Later K.N.Y.F.E. had it.

But soon Kismet was down. After their hard-fought, triumphant battle with the Ennead, the heroes just used that momentum to quickly bring down this new villain.

But shortly after Kismet fell, there was a gust of wind in the time cataclysm as it disappeared around them, and it dumped the five heroes and one smaller figure on a nearly barren landscape.

Argent Adept, like the others, looked around and noticed the saloons, the barrels, the tumbleweed, the swinging wooden doors. “Guys, I think we got dumped in the Old West.”

But Legacy’s eyes were fixated on the figure that came out of the cataclysm with them. She was a young child, and she looked shockingly familiar. “Visionary,” he stammered. “Is that you?”

Visionary gasped. “Oh, sh…”

TO BE CONTINUED…

GAMEPLAY

Yeah, Kisemt threw some rough things at us, but it ended up not being that tough of a battle, and all of our heroes survived. I don’t even think there was ever any worry that one would be lost.

The next fight, however, we weren’t feeling as confident about.

Citizen on Advanced. Not going to lie I was scared for my heroes for this fight. She started with Assault and Battery out plus Citizen Winter and Blood. Her play was Channel the Eclipse. 1st turn and I was now confident that I was deader then dead. (yes double dead). Argent Adept for me will do nothing but give Omnitron X a power everyturn which Omnitron would use to turn around and play the top card of Chrono Rangers deck. Omnitron went next and he would play some cards to get rid of ongoings, or put out a component, then his power play the top card of Chrono Rangers deck. Visionary next, play phase mess with the villain's trash or deck. Always putting citizens back into the deck. Power Chrono Ranger draw two cards discard one. Chrono Rangers turn play two cards (Jim's Hat). Sudden Contract X2 or something else that does damage. Hit for all of the damage. Power Compound Bow. Fanatic holding up the rear. Her job was purely Citizen control and then do some extra damage to Dawn herself. Wrathful retribution for the win though.

I won and no one died. I am still in a sort of shocked state but it was awesome.

Round #1:

The Ennead nearly crushes the Prime Wardens.  Osiris with an early Phosphorescent Chamber and Atlantean Font crushed our hands to nothing.

Fanatic never had a card in play for more than one round.  Almost all of the Ennead made it in play and our health was in the single digits (other than Haka thanks to Ta Moko early) with one Ennead down and 6 in play.

Argent Adept finally got some cards going, CC got some Bracers in play and the Wardens pulled themselves back from the brink, Cleansing Downpour finally coming out turned the tide, and the heroes got to work.  Then Set went down and with Reclaim and Vernal Sonata it was an easy win from there, the last round the heroes dealt over 50 damage at the start of the villain turn to end the game.  the next card would have pulled the last one from the shrine.

The sickness that is the Prime Wardens is impressive, even when everything goes wrong.

Final HP:

Fanatic:  5

Tempest: 4

Haka: 16

Captain Cosmic: 4

Argent Adept:  3

Only Shu remained under the shrine.

Round #2 was a stompfest.

Haka got Taiaha, Fanatic got Absolution, End of round #2 Fixed point comes into play with Dynamic Syphons on Fanatic and Haka, With Haka's at 1hp and Fanatic's at full, and Adept having used Syncopated Onslaught to raise both of their damage by 1.

Kismet ran out of HP the next round.  Adept was the lowest health at 17.

Round #3:

There are a lot of games I am happy to have Fanatic. . .

First side went quick, Tempest got Hurricane, Captain had Harsh Offense, Fanatic rocked Absolution, Haka got Whipacorned.  Round two Sustain the portal took out the Ape for a cleared field.

Meanshile Fanatic dropped most of her hand for Tooth Fairy, and sustain the portal put her at 1 card, Prayer of Desperation.  That didn't get her End of Days, but the Brutal Censure afterwards did.  Dreamer Flipped, and immediately put out 6 projections, End of Days cleared that and a whipacorn got Wrathful Retribution for its trouble.  HP was low, largely because that second side damage is just wicked at (H)=5, But Fanatic doesn't play games with little girls.

Low HP was 9 for Adept.  High was Haka at 12.

Three wins, no incaps, no losses, no Mulligan.  A loss to Ennead would have cost my Mulligan, but I was fortunate.

Yeah. Tough one. But my wife and I have yet to be successful with a 5-hero team versus the Dreamer, so we decided before we even played that round that if we went down, we'd suffer the loss of five heroes and save our mulligan for a later round.

Just played my first three of the series, with no fatalities so far.  My A-team consists of Legacy, Fanatic, Chrono-Ranger, Wraith, and Visionary.

I was a little concerned about the Ennead, as I didn't get great draws to start the game, but a well-placed Take Down and some Precognition managed to keep their worst cards out of the way.

Kismet was an utter steam-roll; the poor girl never stood a chance against C-R's onslaught of gunfire.

When dealing out against The Dreamer, I was particularly taken aback when her very first projection was a Dark Hero...but then I saw that Fanatic had an End of Days in Hand.  After flipping The Dreamer quickly, End of Days took out 6 projections in one go, making the endgame dead easy.

THE JIMENI SQUAD, PART III

“What are we up against, Visionary?” Legacy asked.

Visionary just shook her head, as her younger self, the Dreamer, screamed and brought forth some scary projections.

The team was horrified by what they saw: a whipacorn, a couple of creepy looking toy masters, an ape, an arachnoid.

They did their best to fight them off, killing projection after projection, and as they took them all down quickly, it seemed like stillness had returned.

But the Dreamer erupted in violent nightmares, as a new group of projections emerged, tearing into the team.

Tempest fought off the urge to bring down a squall or a grievous hailstorm, and tried racking his brain to remember this spell for bringing out a cleansing downpour, but it just wasn’t coming.

A couple of Wild West gunmen joined the fight, but they didn’t stick around long.

Soon a blast tore through the area as a nearby wagon exploded. Our heroes suffered immense damage, but the projections took a small beating too. Even the Dreamer couldn’t escape unscathed. Meanwhile a time portal burst open, lashing out waves of energy, as Tempest fell down, shuddering, unconscious.

And then the Dreamer unleashed ever more projections, as her nightmares raged. She screamed out with night terrors that bore deep into the heroes’ minds.

One by one, they each fell down, muttering.

Visionary looked at all her fallen comrades, as she fell to her knees.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered, the Dreamer’s screams still plaguing her mind, as she lost consciousness.

TO BE CONTINUED...

GAMEPLAY

We thought we may actually succeed with this one when we got the Dreamer to flip in the first round. Then hell was unleashed. Tempest was the first to fall with a Sustain the Portal card. But the rest of them were undone with an evil Violent Nightmares-Night Terrors one-two punch, with projection cards in play before Violent Nightmares even came out, and us already fairly low on hp. We finished with three projections under Dreamer’s card and Dreamer was down to 2 hp, I believe.

We lost and decided not to use the mulligan.

The War Report, Rounds 7-9

Parse - Captain Cosmic - Argent Adept - Absolute Zero - KNYFE

Citizen Dawn @ Ruins of Atlantis: I was pretty nervous about this one. My team had not done well against previous horde villains. But that earlier team didn't have the Captain. His Cosmic Crest absorbed the first salvos from Dawn and Battery, then his Constructs allowed us to patiently set up while Dawn merged with the sun, with Adept's healing keeping everyone fighting fit. Parse, meanwhile, neatly nerfed Dawn by removing her auroras of total destruction. No contest.

La Capitan @ The Block: Same song, second verse. Maria Helena's crew came out, were foiled by Sub-Zero Atmosphere, and were brutally beat down by a jacked up KNYFE. With some careful HP management, the Adept got the Time-Crazed Prisoner to hit La Capitan with the whole environment deck. It wasn't long before the end.

Also, I had a question about the hero cards that La Capitan collects. The digital version seems to indicate that cards underneath other cards (for example, Mar's Self-Destruct Sequence pile) are still valid targets. It seems really cheap, but can you target the captured Ongoing and Equipment cards with destruction effects, such as Unity's innate power or Sarabande of Destruction? I held off from doing that this battle, and dealt with her damage-buffer collection the old-fashioned way.

Plague Rat @ Pike Industrial Complex: Fast and almost deadly. The Rat's irreducible melee damage is fatal to Constructs, and the environment really wasn't helping matters. The Adept became infected from a nasty bite, and only a Healing Conduit and some judicious plinking from AZ saved him from incap. On the plus side, he led the charge with his now-boosted Scherzo of Frost and Flame while KNYFE piled on the damage. In her last turn, she used For the Greater Good twice (I had to diagram her turn) and put the Rat down for good.

Conclusion: I'd fight these guys again over another bout with Dreamer, any day.

Here is how it works: cards under other cards have no text. They have no hp, keywords, effects, etc. However, they still maintain what type of cards they are: hero, villain, or environments. Cards under Self-Destruct can be targeted by cards that destroy environment cards, because they are still environments cards, even though they have no text. The same thing works by La Capitan. The cards under her have no text, they aren't equipment or ongoings, but they are hero cards. Cards that targets certain types, won't work, so Unity can't destroy one of those cards. Cards that work on hero cards (e.g. Freedom Six Tempest), will work, since it is still a hero card.

Miss Information vs. Prime Wardens.

This match started with Misplaced Memo and Explosion in the lab.

By the second round Tempest had Cleansing downpour and a Dynamic Syphon.  Which meant that damage was being healed every time it was dealt.

A cat in a tree showed up after a few more rounds, but was immune to damage so Fanatic chastised it.

Every hero was at -1 taken pretty quick, and we cleared Cat as soon as the second target arrived so we could bounce lowest, finishing it off with Fanatic using Final Dive.

It took 14 rounds to flip Miss information, at which point everything was at full hp and the heroes had dealt a total of 22 damage to villain targets.

When she did flip she died.  Highlights include Fanatic using 2 cosmic weapons and 2 autonomous blades on her turn, and an 18 damage cataclysm from Captain Cosmic.

Round 1 environment play was Mission Control, and the heroes started cycling Vernal and Reclaim to throw cards that would go in play on top of their deck, so it was easy to get ahead of her destruction.  So much so that we ended the game with 29 non-character cards in play, which of course doesn't include the 18 constructs Cosmic Destroyed with cataclysm.

The game took 3 hours and was one of the most tedious experiences I've had since standardized testing.

I've never run into MI being this bad, and wow, I don't ever want to experience that again.

I actually had the ability to drop her that turn if she had the -2 damage taken, but it would have involved beating Fanatic to a pulp and then Wrathful via Argent Adept and his 5 instruments and 8 songs in play.

Figuring out new and exciting ways to damage dynamic syphon enough times to heal everything back up to full is fun for about 5 minutes.

(Seriously, worst game ever.)

THE JIMENI SQUAD, PART IV

Meanwhile, back at Freedom Tower, Tachyon and the Wraith were trying to contact Legacy, but it seemed something was wrong with their communication equipment, and no messages were getting through.

Haka and Ra entered, just returning from seeing the latest “Avengers” film.

“There’s something wrong,” Tachyon said, as she pored over computer files. Omnitron-X phased into the room.

“I’m getting bad readings,” she said.

“Computer’s malfunctioning,” Tachyon said. “That’s suspicious.”

“I’ll go take a look,” Ra said, but the doors of the next room shut and locked on their own, leaving him isolated from the group. Feeling unsafe, he put up a flame barrier.

Wraith dug out her infrared eyepiece and Omnitron-X did some time-shifting to try to figure out what was going on. Only someone with insider knowledge can be causing these disruptions and preventing the team from communicating with Legacy and his group, as well as hacking into Freedom Tower’s systems.

There was a betrayal going on, and there was only one other person in Freedom Tower.

“Aminia,” Tachyon whispered.

“Call me Miss Information,” boomed over the loudspeakers.

Their foe now known, the battle, as they say, was half over.

But it wasn’t easy on the team -- seeing their former acquaintance hurt them, and having to hurt her in their defense, took its psychological toll. Ra’s own flame barrier noticed his distress and fired back -- at him. He got a little charred, but otherwise OK, and soon the barrier disappeared. And he was eventually melt the lock that trapped him and join the rest of the group in the battle.

Miss Information’s attacks were slowed as Tachyon went into hypersonic assault-mode and left her stunned. Haka pounded into the ground, protecting his friends from danger.

It was a long, tough battle, but eventually Miss Information was down, begging for mercy, and the heroes, ashamed to look at her, called the police to come take her away.

Standing outside after the police left, the group heard a strange sound from above. The sky ripped open and large branch-like tentacles wrapped around Omntron-X, pulling her into the hole in the sky. The other four grabbed on and were pulled in too.

On the other side, reality seemed a little distorted. Things weren’t moving quite the way they were expecting. Another huge limb tore through the “ground” and lunged at the group.

“What’s going on?” Wraith asked.

“From the evidence before me and consulting our previous records, I can ascertain, with nearly 99.99998 percent accuracy,” Omnitron-X said, trying to wiggle free of the brambles that had ensnared her. “... that we have entered the Realm of Discord, and this is Akash’Bhuta!”

TO BE CONTINUED...

GAMEPLAY

With a nice combo of Wraith’s Infrared Eyepiece and Omnitron-X’s Timeshift, we were able to stop some of Miss Information’s really bad cards from coming out while hastening (at least a little) her flip. After that, we just laid on the damage cards we’d been storing up, while preventing her damage as much as possible (a couple of Hypersonic Assaults, a Ground Pound, maybe a Throat Jab). Ra’s Flame Barrier, coupled with Miss Information causing heroes to damage themselves, led Ra to doing even more damage to himself, but eventually he was able to shed it. It was a long, tough battle, but I think the next one wound up being even longer. All heroes survived. I didn’t record final HPs, but I don’t think anyone was dangerously close to death.

Well, I was told I'm supposed to post about my rounds. The Enneads weren't very nice to me, but I didn't draw well on any of my heroes to begin with. I lost Chrono and AA unfortunately. However, these two were replaced by Chrono to AZ and AA to Cosmic. I really like Cosmic so I was alright with that switch. We walked all over Kismet, poor girl didn't know what was going on. Sadly, the Dreamer, which I am told is nicknamd the "hero killer", did not like me at all. I am on my second string with AZ, Ra, and Guise, I still have Nightmist from my first team, and I am down to my last team member with Omni-X. I hope Miss Information doesn't hurt me too badly.

Monday arrived and so the Sentinels of the Halifax Multiverse gathered to begin the epic challenge!

#1 against the Ennead was pretty straightforward; they never got a single additional villain out, and once Nuit went down the rest followed shortly. Sky-Scraper played lots of tricks in what would be a recurring theme..

#2 versus Kismet was also a pushover. She never had a chance.

Then we came to #3, the Dreamer. As luck would have it, the environment helped us almost 100% of the time, with the Water Trough even buffing Tempest's multitude of lightning attacks for most of the game. Sky-Scraper had the projections hitting one another all the time, while laughing at the Whipacorns' attempts to stop her. In the end, an untimely Hayes brother knocked her down barely enough for the Dreamer to finish her off. Just before The Argent Adept stepped in to deal some timely rhythmic damage and finish the battle. Expatriette will take up the banner, but Sky-Scraper will be remembered for her gazelle-like valor!

I've had a run of good luck since we erased that time the Dreamer destoyed everybody (dark days, dark days.)

Miss Information played mostly clues and Scholar managed to keep from drawing his forms, so once she flipped Tachyon and Scholar were set up within a round to begin wailing on her. Additionally thanks to the matainence bay once Miss Information's mega-discard card was played I was able to choose which keyword was revealed (Ongoing) which deferred some of the effect of that play. No one was in any real danger.

Baron Blade got close, but Cleansing Downpour helped and no one ever dropped below eight.

Citizen Dawn, that's where the real trouble was. I played a dangerous game of chicken with the Citizen's healths and the environment forced a few kills to flip Dawn. That was almost the end of us. Two Devasting Auroras and a few rounds of Dare-Assualt-Battery were enough to convince me that this is where they would fall, but once Dawn flipped back we were ready with an Inspired and Galvinzed Tachyon who quickly took down the congregation and made way for Scholar, Tempest, and Absolute Zero to begin their assault. Lowest health: Scholar at 3.

La Capitan was easier than usual, partly thanks to a helpful Don't Dismiss Anything, which not only played all helpful cards, but also all Ongoing/Equipment which let them stay ahead of her stealing. The boat didn't come back (although Siege-Breaker did and he never had the common decency to hit Absoulte Zero,) and the enviornment was mostly helpful.

I was worried about Plague Rat, but the environment was equally unkind to both (two checmical explosions to begin the game,) and I used the boost from infections to make Absolute Zero wreck everything around him (another lucky Don't Dismiss Anything helped with this.) Over in three rounds, and my only regret is that I didn't push Zero harder; he could've ended the game at 2, but instead I was too tentative and he ended up at 4, never again, never again.

Ambuscade wasn't too dreadful. His first devices included the cloak and two reactive platings, so his damage output was low to begin with, and since I've been playing his challenge exclusively lately he was actually easier.

A lesser man would be worried going into the next round, but since when has the Chairman ever posed a threat?

The superhuman hunter crouched invisibly behind a stack of crates, the gentle clank of his formidable armory drowned out by the cacophany of the meteor storm raging outside. Moreau was patient. He would wait as long as it took. The prey was trapped here. After the meteors had interrupted his initial skirmish with the prey, Ambuscade had used the downtime to patch up the few scratches he had received and repair his weaponry. He was fresh. Ready to kill.

Still, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched, somehow. Ridiculous, really. His cloaking device was state-of-the-art, and he would have noticed anyone nearby long ago. Still the sensation of being stared at--evaluated--persisted. At least the storm of space rock finally seemed to be slackening in intensity. Ambuscade shifted slightly, preparing to head out on the hunt.

And then, from somewhere deep within the station, an jarringly dissonant note rang out. Ambuscade's cloak let out a *phut* and exploded into sparks as the hunter faded into view. Frantic, Ambuscade spun around, raising his shield and peering through the gloom of the darkened station. The storm had moved on, and all was eeriely quiet.

From the shadows, the hunter heard a quiet *twang* and he saw it. The arrow. Time slowed down as he watched the gentle arc, the perfect trajectory. As the arrow slipped around his shield, Ambuscade mentally saluted the prey-turned-hunter.

Everything went black.

My battle against the Chairman is likely the easiest I've ever had against him, and within the depth project he was less of a threat than Baron Blade. In the end I won, and while there were some concerns, I was never too close to death.

First card play was their healing card and first Underboss out was The Fence. This might be the best possible opneing against the Chairman.

Scholar led with a Don't Dismiss Anything, which led him to a Keep Moving, which let him play a second Don't Dismiss Anything, and while the outcome this time wasn't entirely positive (Know When To Turn Loose and Zero's reclaim from the trash card) what it brought out far outweighed the cost.

Chairman flipped at the start of his second turn, and while he brought out The Contract whose Hired Gun led to eight damage across the board, that was about all the damage we saw out of them for the rest of the game as he and his organization faced three rounds of Hypersonic Assault, coupled with a Cleansing Downpour/Mortal Form to Energy healing cannon.

It ended on the fourth round with all heroes above 14.

Best possible opening would be Prison Break and the Fence, IMO, but that would be a close second!

Edit: Excellent work keeping him down!  We had a similar situation with Hypersonic Assault and the Scholar's transmutation card that prevents a target from doing damage.  Our first card was Prison Break and the first underboss was the Broker.  The Informant pulled out Undivided Attention.  We took care of them handily and then faced the Muscle, then the Fence, then the Contract.  We were lucky on our card draws as well, since they were all Undivided Attention or Rook City is Mine!.

Round one lineup: Legacy, Wraith, Omnitron-X, Absolute Zero, Bunker

My team had a rough first event. The Ennead steamrolled us, especially after the Pillars of Hercules came out, and the first player decided not to get rid of it.... Nothing like having all of the villains acting on hero turns.

After our redo, we did a lot better, although I overextended Absolute Zero on a Thermal Shockwave, and got him taken out by a Kraken and a blast of infernal damage from one of the villain cards.

Lineup for round 2: Legacy, Wraith, Omnitron-X, Setback, and Bunker.

Hopefully, the fight vs. Kismet will go better...

That was probably the best gamea against The Matriarch that I have ever played.  After seeing seven fowl, a domain, and Huginn, Legacy's opening hand contained two Heroic Interceptions, and playing one allowed Tempest to use Grevious Hail Storm without worry (except for poor legacy, who took 7...) Mr. Fixer got his pipe wrench out right away, and with an extra power from Argent Adept's Inspiring Supertonic, was able to finish off the mask.  From that point on, it was just dealing massive damage to The Matriarch herself as quickly as possible, and on round five, the game ended with all of my heroes still alive.  Below 10 HP across the board, but alive.

The Dreamer is picking up the slack though.

My game against Voss had few surprises. A lot of Lancers in the opening meant Tempest was hurting early on, but Lead From the Front helped defer that, and eventually even the ships didn't do much but delay us. We didn't see any Forced Deployments or things may have ended differently.

I hate you a little bit right now. Without adequate soak or damage prevention, and with no reliable way to clear out swathes of birds, my team was utterly annihilated. They had been doing really well against everyone else by using Parse to stack the villain deck, but with Bird-Brain, it doesn't really matter much what's on top of her deck: it's all coming out anyway. Which leaves me with six heroes filling four hero slots. Ouch.

I'll take some of that hate. My game against the Matriarch was lucky. How lucky? I started the game with two hypersonic assaults and an offensive transmutation, and never had to use them. Only three fowls and Huginn got out on the first turn (plus a cacophony,) Legacy played Take Down at the top and Tachyon used her Synaptic Interruptions for destruction fodder for Huginn. Tempest starts with Genebound Shackles and Rounds two and three featured a double galvinized Tempest (thanks to Proverbs and Axioms,) ripping her apart while a healing Scholar did the same.

The turn after I took out the mask the top card was Carrion Fields (awesome,) and even though we got a little distracted with a volcanoe and hurt ourselves a bit with Proverbs and Axioms we all came out above ten.

I'm sure I'm heading for a brick wall soon.

I totally understand.  That's why Parse is in my final five.  I hope her control ability will help out.  And she usually does that to me too.  I rarely get by a game feeling this good about it against her.  Especially when she gets seven fowl out immediately.  My opening hands were just perfect for this one.  I hope the rest of your games still go alright with your four heroes.  Its been quite a run for everyone who's made it this far yet, and those still working towards it have some real challenges.

On the plus side, I still have my replay; that Matriarch fight just couldn't be won with the heroes I had. And Legacy - Wraith - Fanatic - Unity is a reasonably strong combo. I'm optimistic about the next few fights.

Also, Ario, I was looking through the submissions (I keep a hard copy scoresheet for fun), and you might have missed logging your battle with Voss.

Wow. I'm still getting over the rush.

I went up against Iron Legacy fully expecting to be horribly massacred. And it looked bad. He started with +3 damage and punished heroes for playing cards. Ouch. Well, at least it would be over quick.

Then, the first round, I drew the one card that could make victory possible. Wrathful Retribution. This could work. Third round, with Wraith having sacrificed herself to deplete IL's stack of ongoings and Unity clinging to life with one lonely hit point, Good Legacy punches Fanatic in the face, dropping her just low enough to blitz Iron Legacy for 25 damage, dropping him on the spot.

Down to three hero slots, my team presses on. For now.

Metlarcturus, thanks for pointing out my omission. Voss's defeat has now been noted.

But fellas, fellas, I did the impossible, I took out Advanced Gloomweaver, and all without an incapcitation!

In seriousness, it was a slow beginning and there was some worry for a while that Legacy would fall even if the team won. Thankfully card draws started to help and there are few hordes that a Galvinized Tempest cannot deal with, so it turned out ok. Even though the Cursed Acolyte was around every corner and in every vast following (of which there was one, but that was enough.)

Like Metlarcturus I had a grim begining against Iron Legacy that turned to success (though not without loss.) He started with a +3 damage, though after that he tried to destroy equpment that didn't exist, so joke's on him for only hitting for 5 damage each that turn.

No Hypersonic Assaults, but an Offensive Transmutation held him off for a turn, and by the third turn Legacy got the Next Evolution-Lead From the Front combo, sadly this was not in time to save Tachyon who did all she could to protect her friends.

This didn't protect the team from their own psychic trouble from attacking Legacy or his redirection (those Impales seemed like such a good idea at the time...)

In the end I decided Tempest and Zero had enough damage capability to push through the redirection (and I was worried for what may come next,) and ended with Zero pushing every bit of damage he could muster to push Iron Legacy to -1, with all heroes ending below six HP, and Tempest holding on at one.  A thrilling game.

I've enjoyed this depth project. I find myself wanting to protect the team even over a safe(r) route to victory, so I'm pursuing riskier plays in the hope of ending the game sooner. For example, before this project I'd almost never take the damage and power use from Proverbs and Axioms and always go for the healing, but in the majority of these games I'm opting for double Galvanizing or multiple localized hurricanes. It's very satisfying.

Game #1: Legacy (Support), Visionary (Control), Scholar (Tank), Tempest (Damage), Tachyon (Jack) VS Ennead IN Ruins of Atlantis

Ennead's opening is Geb, Set, Shu, Nuit, Isis, and their first turn deals 30 damage. Ouch. First round fairly average, except for a Twist on Tempest's Hailstorm, which is pretty fantastic in this setup.

First environment play is Font of Power; 20 more damage for the Ennead, sadly, but it does get Legacy his Ring, and since he already has Motivational Charge in play (he drew three), this is pretty ideal.

In round two, the Visionary gets out Demoralise, while the Scholar fields a pair of Mortal Form to Energies and then blasts the Ennead with a "Get Out of the Way!". Tempest also plays Shackles, but they are short-lived; Mass Overheating is played on round three, a monstrous Ennead turn breaking the heroes' stuff and dealing 41 more damage. That said, from this point it's a whitewash, with the least three members falling that round to Tachyon's Hypersonic Assault (she had two, so we could have locked them down for two more rounds, but it turned out we didn't need to.) All alive and fairly healthy.

Game #2: Same team VS Kismet IN Time Cataclysm

This was a much less interesting game. Never really felt in danger (except for the turn where Karmic Disjunction revealed 5 Jinxes), and finished with a good supply of HP left.

Game #3: Same team VS The Dreamer IN Silver Gulch 1883

Ulp. This is, famously, where most runs go downhill. Still, my starting draw looks pretty decent, so we'll hope for the best...

We did great.  Worst game had Legacy down to 5 hp.  But we were crazy lucky w/ Iron Legacy.  Started with 2x Superhuman Redirection, 1x Galvanize, 1x Demoralizing Presence, 1x (whatever the armor is with Haka punching him).  Setback took out the armor with a Whoops!  Sorry! after Legacy played zero ongoing/equipments.  From there, Hypersonic Assaults, Offensive Transmutation, Throat Jab, and Heroic Interception, Iron Legacy couldn't do much.  He hurt us a lot at first, but that was it.

We were also really lucky with the Matriarch.  She got Huginn and Muninn out early, but she only played 2 or 3 birds each round for the first 3 rounds.

Wraith's Infrared Eyepieces have MVP for the games, keeping all the nasty cards at the bottom of the decks.

The Ennead starting out looking scary, but some unlucky plays on their part (deal one target damage, start a minor chain that goes nowhere) allowed us to get built up enough to burn Set down.  And then Hypersonic Assaults kept the Ennead down.  Scholar played 4x Keep Moving Forward for 3x Mortal Form to Energy and 1x Solid to Liquid and Get Out of the Way.  With Legacy with Inspiring Presence and Galvanize, the damage for that round was:

8 Ennead members (the rest were down) x 3 damage (Nuit was the second one down, so no damage reduction) = 24 damage from Get Out of the Way.  The Scholar healed 9 and then dealt three targets 11 damage apiece, wrecking the Ennead.  Then he used his base power to heal 2 and deal 3 targets 4 damage apiece.  For a total of 69 damage in one round.  Wraith then used Throwing Knives and Razor Ordinance to clean up the ones the Scholar left behind.

The rest of the games were pretty mild.  Gloomweaver was defeated once via Relics and once via damage.  Spite was killed both times on his front side from overwhelming damage (with damage prevention and deck control).  Citizen Dawn did not flip in the second fight.  Apostate was a joke with Wraith controlling the deck.  (I found it hilarious when Apostate played a round 1 Apocalypse and Setback tripped ("Whoops!  Sorry!", no other ongoing or equipment cards in play), breaking the end of the world.)

Anyway, we completed all 25 so far.  Although when I was submitting 14 games, I may have missed one or doubled up on another.

So is V5 not gonna happen in this event?  I understand WCos being held back til UK people get it, but I'd like to see how people fare against them popping up in this event.  When they come up when randomizing you can also randomize their order in case they show up multiple times.

Also just had an idea while I was writing this post!
Someone could do another event like this once VotM comes out, making every game a vengance style game, maybe make it teams of 3 heroes and 5 ranks deep in that version so as to give randomization a greater effect (and less book-keeping during each game).  It would also be thematic, as it would be 15 heroes vs 15 villains.

Naturalist is proving a welcome addition to the team. Since Iron Legacy we haven't had anything too troubling, excepting that Zero's hands have gone sour and he hasn't been as destructive as he was in the beginning.

You have to feel sorry for Akash when she attacks Freedom Tower, and besides one instance of equipment destruction (when only the transducer and apertures were in play,) she didn't do much.

La Capitan was an easier game than before, she only got one crew card out (Mabel) during the game, and she didn't steal the knowledge of how to transform into animals from the Naturalist, which I was paranoid of most of the game.

Spite was more frustrating this time around. In the first game I actually managed to defeat him before he flipped, but this time around he was destroying victims every turn preventing any kind of damage from sticking to him.  Still I managed to get him to 27 before he flipped and after that it was fun to have Scholar and Naturalist alternate redirecting and soaking damage. Ultimately a win, if a frustrating one.

Next up: The Ennead.

...and that's a wrap. Three heroes just can't hold up to the Ennead when they bring out one or more fresh members every turn. Brought down everyone but Shu the first battle, but the damage had been done already. The retry went much, much worse.

So my final score is 22. I may put together another team and try the challenge again--off the record. With promos. Right after I savagely maul the Ennead with a hand-picked team. That'll make me feel better.

Tefnut was too tenacious for Tempest. He fell in the penultimate round. We all mourn his loss and appreciate his sacrifice.

Beyond that it was a fine, challenging, game against the advanced Ennead. Scholar got out healing early, and Legacy allowed the team to mostly ignore Nuit until the end. No Ancient Magicks, but plenty of Mass Overheating.

The Sentinels of the Halifax Multiverse reconvened to continue the campaign tonight!

Miss Information in Freedom Tower was interesting because the environment 100% helped us the entire game - we never had anything bad happen at all from it. Not that Freedom Tower is a terribly difficult environment, but I'm used to seeing an Entry Point or two. Parse had a bit of a rough go, but we all survived to carry on to the next battle.

Akash'Bhuta in the Realm of Discord had some tricky moments, but eventually once again the environment helped us carry the day with Positive Energy Field. The heroes ended up winning with everyone at max HP except Absolute Zero, who was Thermal Shockwaving all over the place to finish things off.

Next time, things get Advanced..

All wore out. My heroes were horribly defeated by the Chairman and I guess after receiving such a massive blow to my strange yet surprisingly powerful team of five heroes, my other heroes lacked proper leadership. Warlord Voss crushed me. On turn one my heroes had whipped back the horde of his minions and all was well in hand. Turn four my heroes were on their knees begging for it all to end.

I had a lot of fun and greatly appreciate all of your work in creating this awesome competition.

Its been a while since I've posted about most of my matches, with the exception of The Matriarch.  Classes have started really picking up.  So, in a quick overview, I've been having a good run with this team.  Plague Rat, no problems. Chairman, a little scary, no major issues though. Voss, ended with everyone above 15 (thanks to five points of healing for everyone, every round).  So on and so forth.

Even the fight I was looking forward to the least, Iron Legacy, went off alright.  Started off with both Galvanizeds, Demoralizing Presence, Superhuman Redirection, and Armored Fortitude.  Played Beat Down.  So Legacy hit for 2 (Thock) drew Inspiring Presence.  Tempest uses Ball Lightning, doesn't deal damage, destroys Armored Fortitude and Superhuman Redirection. Fixer draws two cards.  Setback can still hit with Looking Up for four more after Legacy's boost.  AA draws two cards (his was the only bad hand, really).  Rook City plays Falling Statuary, hits a hero.  Iron Legacy HP = 26, no flip.  Plays another Demoralizing Presence, and much hitting commences.  The next turn was his end, however.  Legacy Plays inspring Presence, and boosts with his power.  Tempest uses Lightning Slash for a total of 8, then his power for 4.  IL HP = 14.  Mr. Fixer Charges for 4, then strikes for 3.  IL HP = 7.  Setback plays Reckless Rush, hits himself and IL for 4, then uses Looking Up for 5.  IL HP = -2.

Hopefully, they can keep holding up like this, as they have proven to have pretty good synergy.

Finally!

I got time to play my first game, against the Ennead. They went down in only 3 rounds!

Geb, Nephthys and Isis came out to take on Legacy, Tachyon, AZ, Haka and The Sentinels, with The Sentinels taking most of the damage as 2 of the 3 cards played were Death's Grasp.

Best plays by each member were opening turn Inspiring Presence from Legacy, discarding hand for Toxic Seaweed for Tachyon (not a good draw for her despite seeing 15 cards!), two Onboard Module Installations and both modules in Az's hand meant he was ready to make use of the +2 from Legacy from the get go, Taiha for Haka and Fling in to Darkness to take out a 9HP Nephthys for The Sentinels.

No heroes lost, on to the next round!

Well, I know I fell behind in reporting/writing my games out here (we were playing a lot faster than I could get around to writing), but my team has come to an end. Brutal Iron Legacy took us down. And it was brutal.

To be fair, we got much further than we expected. My wife and I rarely play advanced villains. We like being able to beat a villain several times (at least) on normal before moving to advanced, so I expected to quickly go down once the villains moved to advanced. But our "second-string" team of heroes proved to be way better than expected, and we plowed through some advanced villains (Some were very touugh that proved to be close battles, some weren't too bad at all).

And now we can say we've been victorious against Advanced Matriarch, and we've never even beat her on normal mode. :)

Anyway, it's been a lot of fun. Thanks, Pydro, for coming up with this and organizing it.

Some highlights: In the Akash'Bhuta battle at one point, Ra's Staff (6) had more hit points than Ra (4). (But we did some healing and hp management and we all came out alive). Omnitron X once destroyed all of Wraith's equipment (with her permission, of course) in a singularity in a desperate move to stop Blade from pulling the moon down. It worked, and we ended up killing him fairly easily once he flipped, but it was scary there for a bit on the first side.

This event gave us a chance to play some heroes who haven't gotten too much play from us, and we learned some fun combos and great ways to play heroes. Omnitron X certainly became a star in many of our battles. And Parse, who in the past had kinda proved underwhelming for us, showed her stuff, and we learned why people talk her up a lot.

So we had lots of fun, but our run is done.
And I'm a poet, and I did know it.

Thanks again!

Just ran rounds 2 & 3

Round 2: Legacy, Omnitron-X, Wraith, Setback, and Bunker vs. Kismet

This was one of the fastest games of SotM I have ever played. Kismet provided very little resistance, and was steamrolled in a few short rounds.

Round 3: Legacy, Omnitron-X, Wraith, Setback, and Bunker vs. The Dreamer

This one hurt. A lot. We managed to flip her fairly quickly, but after that, things got rough. We had 6 projections under the card, 4 in play, Setback incapped, and a total of 8 hp left among the other 4 heroes. As we went around the table, we picked off the Granite Oni and the Macabre Spectre, but had a Whipacorn and a Grotesque Arachnoid left at full health with only the incapacitated Setback and Bunker left to go....

Thanks to Legacy, we had Inspiring Presence and Galvanize in play. Bunker had Flak Cannon & Omni-Cannon in play, with Maintenance Unit & Turret Mode in hand. Setback inspired Bunker to shoot the Arachnoid with his Flak Cannon, taking it to 3 life remaining. Then, in his turn, Bunker fed his Maintenance Unit into the Omni-Cannon & went into Turret Mode. He fired the Omni-Cannon into the Arachnoid, killing it, and then hit the Whipacorn with his Flak Cannon, doing 6 damage. The Whipacorn still stood, at 1 hp remaining.

Things looked grim for our heroes, since they would not survive another round against the Dreamer's projections.

Then, from the local saloon, Matthew Hayes popped up and put a slug between the Whipacorn's eyes. "That thing'll look good mounted above my fireplace."

We had won...barely.

Chalk it up to overconfidence, but man...Aminia put up so much more of a fight than she usually does!

I just played match #4 (Miss Information/Freedom Tower) and got rocked with a bad combo of her damage-increasing ongoing and three nasty diversions.

Unfortunately, Legacy got caught in the trap of being first the highest hp, then the lowest...leading to a pile of damage and my first incapacitation.  :( Time for Argent Adept to suit up and take his spot as team leader!

Another game down, another un-incapped team! (though it's only round 2)

It would have been a cake walk except Lady Luck came into play and extended the game by 2 or 3 turns as Kismet kept saving herself with Fortune's Smile into an Unlucky Break, no hero ongoing or equipment was in play at the end of the game!

Best plays.

Legacy Heroically Intercepted allowing Haka go to on a (Legacy excluded) damage free Rampage! Twice!

Tachyon had another bad game where her contribution was to discard her hand for Crushing Hallway.

AZ Fueled his Freeze with that annoying Lady Luck.

The Sentinels had a Team Communications which drew 2 Unique Cabailities and 2 Coordinated Assaults, Durasteel Chains got picked as 1 of the 2 Signatures, Mainstay was a single target damage machine this game.

Legacy is down, repeat Legacy is down! He never even saw it coming, that Ape they befriended was Treachorous!

This was a 3 round affair, not a single projection lasted a whole round, and no damage was dealt to Projection by the Environment!

Best plays

Legacy, Flying Smash in his opening hand set the tone for the encounter.

Tachyon, Realising that there was no need to build up a huge Burst pile and using a 3 Burst Lightspeed Barrage to take out a Dark Hero.

AZ, Hoarfire, with no modules in play!

Haka, First turn Taiha lead the way for taking out those projection (later supplimented by Punish the Weak too).

The Sentinels, Fling into Darkness to get rid of a 6HP Granite Oni, take that stupid monster with DR!

Worst moment

When realising that Doctor Medico healing The Idealist meant Legacy was now the lowest, and Heroic Interception would no longer help tank the lowest damage!

How will the team cope without Legacy? Looks like Argent Adept is about to find out!

Ugh.

Miss Information is just not fun. The starting Diversion was "Threat" to the President which meant that the Sentinels could just sit there with their 5 cards in play and not destroy any thing to satisfy its condition every turn. Then it was just draw 2 until all the clues came out (very lucky that no other Diversions came out).

No team incaps but The Idealist was picked on a lot.

Best plays

Haka Ground Pounding for several turns in a row.

Argent Adept Insturmentally Conjuring up Musaragni's Harp then using it on Alacritous Subdominant to get Cedistic Dissonant into play to get rid of the aforementioned "Threat".

Tachyon got to do something this game!

AZ Fuel Freezed all the clues away after Miss Information flipped.

The Sentinels' monster turn after Miss Information flipped, 2 Team Communications and 2 Unique Capabilities getting Sentinel Tactics, Caliginous Form and Hypocratic Oath into play kept all the players in the game, without those extra Hit Points and redirection someone would have fallen.

On to round 4!

My last game against the Matriarch went well, this game went beautifully. First turn she played Darken the Skies and her bird which destroys ongoings. Second turn she only gets two fowls out.  She doesn't get her second cohort until she was about the flip (fourth turn,) and up until that point she had been kept in check by offensive transmutations. And besides which how bad can a game be when Wraith starts with two impromtu inventions? The game ends with little to worry about (we were pecked a bit, but they saw their way through it,) and Scholar keeps Grace Under Fire against a fully targeted out Matriarch.

But then we meet the Dreamer again... I wasn't looking forward to it after she destroyed me the first time, and barely let me get by on the redo, but what are you going to do?  The first part of the match goes well.  Another Grace Under Fire removes Dark Hero before his -2 reduction can become too much of an issue, a Whipacorn let Legacy play Heroic interception with no cost, and even when she flips the only hero with ongoings was the Naturalist and he recovers quickly.

Even the flipside didn't start terrible, thanks to a meteor storm which cropped up.  Legacy used it's distraction to Take Down the Dreamer two turns in a row. It seemed like everything was bending over backwards to help me.

Then her first turn at full damage and full card plays happen: five projections get out thanks to some violent nightmares, two macarbe specters (skeleton fellows, yes?) a samurai oni, and more besides.  For a terrible moment I thought that the Naturalist fell, but then I remembered Wraith's smoke bombs were around, so Absolute Zero took heavy damage, but he could take it. We weather through it, and manage to remove all projections and even heal Naturalist thanks to Bestial Shift Shenanigans and sacrificing Natural Born Vigor.

Start of Dreamer's Turn: 9 cards under her.  Frustrating to say the least, still I know a Toy Master is at the top (infrared eyepiece works on little girl's skulls thankfully,) and I'm not too worried.  Toy Master comes out, another Oni (not good,) an ape (can be dealt with,) and Violent Nightmares. Wraith (2HP) survives thanks to the smoke bombs, but Legacy is not that lucky, he goes down hard.  The team weeps, then takes care of tooth fairy and toy master (why not,) then weeps some more.  Scholar through Zero take their turn just to heal/defend in case Mars has terrible things in plan, it does not, and we win, but at what cost?

After this game I'm worried. Legacy is what allowed Zero to be such a powerhouse in previous rounds, so my damage output is going down significantly, not to mention my overall team health.  Additionally even though my first team was put together with a lot of thought and attention the backups where chosen with less attention paid to team dynamics, and I think the cracks will begin to show.

Not to mention the next fight is against the Rat, and an empathic robot is not the tool for that job.

Well that match goes well enough. Omnitron is still getting his sea legs and wasn't able to keep a component in play, but the others made up for it. Offensive Transmutations and Grappling Hooks are the key to modern medicine, and they kept the team (Sans Zero,) healthy. Much like in the last match against Mr. P. Rat Zero drove himself to the edge making the most he could of the boosts from the infection.  The game ended with tired, but victorious heroes, ready to face down the Chariman again.

So this past week I finally got around to making a team and playing some games.  Got a little over 10 games in so far.  I'll work on inputting those games in to the form soon.

I randomly drew a team and got

Unity, Captain Cosmic, Omnitron-X, Argent Adept, Sentinels

1st reserve heroes are as follows, in order:

Setback, Sky-Scraper, Haka, Legacy, Ra

2nd reserve:

Naturalist, Absolute Zero, Scholar, Bunker, Fanatic

So far, for most of the games I've played I've worked on one main strategy.  Get some Energy Bracers on Mainstay with Durasteel Chains and Human Shield to redirect and reduce damage.  Argent and Omni-X work towards getting that set up for Sentinels, then move on to setting Unity up with a ton of bots.

Villains this team has issues with are ones that have really nasty alpha strike capabilities, have ongoing destruction, and/or deal irreducible damage.  (Iron Legacy is a jerk.)

(EDIT:  So if people make it to round 36...  37-39 should be challenge mode, and 40+ should be advanced + challenge mode?  What do you guys think?)

Round 5 done, Akash'Bhuta falls!

Long game (as with most Akash games) but no heroes fell, The Sentinels ended on full HP!

Best plays

Tachyon got to take out Akash with only 1 card left in Tachyon's deck, huge number of Burst inthe trash, there was much rejoycing.

Argent Adept and Haka made for a potent combination, Vernal Sonata Ground Pound combo kept all 3 Entombs in check!

AZ had both Impales on Akash, with Cold Snap in play too. Thermal Shockwave was huge.

The Sentinels didn't have a single stand out play, they were just consistant damage dealers, even on turns when The Idealist was Ensnared by those Brambles.

On to the advanced games

Fear not citizens, the world is safe from Advanced Baron Blade!

Nothing much to report on the villain side, BB got to 10 cards before his first side fell and the Environment was actually a help!

Best plays

The Sentinels got an out of turn play of Team Communications leading to 3 Unique Capabilities and a Coordinated Assault, all on Argent Adept's first turn!

A timely Hypersonic Assault kept Tony Taurus alive for an extra turn, which lead to a Slash and Burn not damaging anyone and then a Ground Pound & Extract combo later to put the Devious Disruption Tony had seen, long after Tony himself was dead!

AZ had an odd time this game, he never found a power to use other than Thermodynamics, but with Blighted Streets in play he was still effective!

O-M-F-G.

Round Six, Advanced Baron Blade at Rook City.

Things started out well. We smashed the MDP and a Backlash Field right away and were getting Expatriette set up to deal massive damage. The environment wasn't helping but it wasn't hurting too much either, but then the Scum and Villainy started. And Hasten Doom. And Hasten Doom. And Hasten Doom. And Consider the Price of Victory. It made it to a point where we considered whether it would be possible to have BB shuffle his trash into his deck to save the game (he had 5 cards left in his deck). Moon + Earth = lose. We decided to use our mulligan because hey, Baron Blade, we can do this right?

We technically did a little bit better on the second try. But with a Living Force Field and Backlash Field we could not afford to destroy for fear of a Scum and Villainy (which happened, and we would have lost had those been destroyed), by the time we got BB flipped we had 2 incapacitated heroes and the rest at low single digits. All we could do is watch as Scum and Villainy took out all of the rest except Expatriette (via Flak Jacket), then the Ambitious Racketeer finished the job with a sly grin.

B-team, go!

Round Seven, Advanced Citizen Dawn at Ruins of Atlantis.

Stepping up to the plate were Mr. Fixer, The Sentinels, Chrono-Ranger, The Naturalist, and The Wraith. It was a tough draw from the beginning with Citizen Truth, Assault, and Blood+Tears. Autumn came out on the first turn so the Sentinels never got to do much interesting. However, Mr. Fixer kept up steady work, and Chrono-Ranger and The Wraith churned out most of the damage to Dawn thanks to a fortuitous first round Atlantean Font of Power helping us get set up. It came down to the wire with just about every hero target in single digit HP. Three Citizens in the trash and two in play (Autumn and Battery). The Kraken came out and destroyed Battery (who had 2 HP compared to the lowest heroes at 3 HP). On their last legs, the heroes piled on and sent Dawn packing!

Question for the people still working on this: Do you want to stop after 36 games, facing each villain twice, or should I keep making more matches?

Finally completed all 36.  None of the original teammates are left and we have 4 players.  We only completely lost to Iron Legacy.  The current remaining team is Parse, the Sentinels, Nightmist, and the Naturalist.

Edit:  Maybe we could move to the WCos villains?

The Sentinels of the Halifax Multiverse resumed the challenge this week!

Round 8 - VS Advance La Capitan AT The Block - This was a long slog. The Sentinels helped out a lot by doing a ton of damage to La Capitan. We were able to have The Block help us out a bit by managing La Capitan's HP at times, but she managed to flip and we had a hell of a time getting her back on Advanced. A just-in-time Infrared Eyepiece prevented a temporal theft and ensured the flip, and then we put the smack down to finish the job.

Round 9 - VS Advance Plague Rat AT Pike Industrial Complex - Quite possibly the easiest game of SotM I've ever played. Mr. Fixer had Jack Handle in hand and happily became infected. The Wraith made sure Afflicted Frenzy got played instead of more Infections. Plague Rat ended up at the center of a swirling Tasmanian Devil of pain. It was all over in about 20 minutes.

Round 10 - VS Advance Ambuscade AT Wagner Mars Base - This one started out tough, with a start of game cloak and double reactive platings at times. Slowly but surely we turned the tide and took out his devices, and then it was all over.

Awesome! So I'm about to get my first game going, but I thought I'd review my team and give a little strategy run down before I did so. Here's what I've got.

Slot 1: The Controller

Visionry-->Parse-->Tachyon

Slot 2: AoE Damage/Utility

Tempest-->Sentinels-->Nightmist

Slot 3: The Villain Killer

Ra-->Wraith-->Guise

Slot 4: The Tank

Absolute Zero-->Scholar-->Naturalist

Slot 5: Team Support

Legacy-->Argent Adept-->Omnitron-X

So while I did try to go for a balanced party across the board, I have a plan for the starting roster. The idea here to heavily influence the amount of damage done to my team and the type of damage done accross the field. Between Ra, Visionary, and Legacy, I can change damage to any type I desire and pump my own damage up to crazy amounts. Then I can use that modulated damage to either make Absolute Zero an invincible topped off health tank or a suicide damage murder master. Tempest is there to round off the team with lots of AoE damage and general utility, as I feel Tempest is one of the best heroes in the game and complements any team almost as well as Legacy does. The only thing I'm really worried about with this starting roster is I might not have quite enough ongoing destruction, which I've tried to have the later heroes bring to the table.

The backup heroes are really just some of the best in slot heroes (in my place experience) for each slot. I'm expecting a lot out of each of the 2nd tier heroes if the 1st tier ends up falling. I think the only things I really am sad about in the whole roster is I couldn't find any room for Haka in my game plan and I didn't have enough experience or faith in the WotC heroes to bring them with me.

So time for the first game! Hopefully my fiance and I can take out the Ennead with no casualties. Wish us luck!

Alright, my first two games are in, with surprising results!

Round 1 - vs The Ennead AT Ruins of Atlantis - This was a much harder first match than we were prepared for, as Ra had to face his nemesis. We also got unlucky enough that 4 out of 5 of the Ennead had the green hand symbol, and almost every card the Ennead drew had the green symbol on it. Ra was at half health by the beginning of turn of 2, and it looked grim for him. Legacy's damage boosts slowly wore the Ennead's health down, and Lead from the Front allowed Legacy to soak a lot of the damage meant for Ra. But we didn't pay close enough attention, and Legacy got low enough that one bad turn cost him his life. Still, he managed to play heroic interception before he went down, preventing the death of Ra, and the boost from Galvanize allowed one final turn of increased damage to end the Ennead's reign. Still, loosing Legacy game one was hard on my team, but we honor his sacrifice that kept alive Ra, and move forward with Argent Adept taking his place.

Round 2 - vs Kismet AT Time Cataclysm - A very easy, if high damage, game. I've never thought of Kismet as being very difficult, and this game was no exception. Ann early fueled freeze took out the few ongoing cards Kismet managed to get into play, reducing her threat drastically. Ra also got out Imbued Fire very early in the match and combined with Absolute Zero's Isothermic Transducer, it meant a HUGE amount of fire damage was directed right into Kismet's smug face. I don't even think the game went 5 rounds before it was over and Kismet was defeated. Granted, AZ was at 3 health at the end, but it was still totally worth it. Everyone  pitched in, but in the end it was Ra and Absolute Zero that stole the show this game.

Even with Legacy gone, the team is going strong! Tomorrow we shall tackle the dreamer and see if her hordes of minions overwhelm us (along with her arch enemy), or if we shall stand triumphant!

Round 11 - VS Advance Chairman AT Tomb of Anubis - Total Party Kill. We thought we had things under control, but it all fell apart. That +5 damage from thugs is ROUGH.

We have 4 heroes left and that's it: Legacy, NightMist, Unity, and Omnitron-X. Go bots! Next week we'll face Voss in Atlantis, what could possibly go wrong?

The Sentinels of the Halifax Multiverse returned with their reduced team to battle Grand Warlord Voss under the sea. We found some great combos - NightMist scryed Legacy's deck so Omnitron-X could timeslip useful cards into play, helping Legacy protect the team and especially Unity who got all kinds of bots out. The final round saw Raptor Bots doing more than 10 damage each to poor Voss.

Next time, birds and dinos! So basically just lots of dinos.

I don't really have the time to manage all the google docs and stuff, but if anyone wants to set up a VotM Depth Chart event when the time comes, I had started on a semi-random list for the first 15 games if you were to do 3-hero teams. (all expansions/mini-expansions included)  I expanded it to 40 games recently and figured it might help get the ball rolling if anyone wanted to use it.

I did 3 player so you wouldn't have to fiddle with 5 villain turns every round. And so you wouldn't necessarily have to see the same villains back to back.  I think that would more likely happen with 5, since there's only 15 VotM-style villains, including Vengance ones. Another good thing about switching to 3 heroes is that it changes up the strategy a bit from last Depth Chart event.

Tried to keep villain teams as unique as possible, with very few instances of the same two villains on the same team (didn't really double check, made this pretty quickly) :

1:   Hammer&Anvil -- Fright Train -- La Capitan @ Freedom Tower

2:   Operative -- Baron Blade -- Ambuscade @ Mobile Defense Platform

3:   Bugbear -- Biomancer -- Sgt. Steel @ Rook City

4:   Plague Rat -- Friction -- Greazer @ The Block

5:   Ermine -- Proletariat -- Miss Information @ Temple of Zhu Long

(Every villain has been seen at this point.)

6:   Baron Blade -- Greazer -- Hammer&Anvil @ Tomb of Anubis

7:   Biomancer -- Miss Information -- Operative @ Enclave of the Endlings

8:   Friction -- La Capitan -- Bugbear @ Madame Mittermeier's Fantastical Festival of Conundrums & Curiosities

9:   Proletariat -- Ambuscade -- Plague Rat @ The Celestial Tribunal

10: Fright Train -- Sgt. Steel -- Ermine @ Dok'Thorath

11: Miss Information -- Plague Rat -- Baron Blade @ Realm of Discord

12: La Capitan -- Ermine -- Biomancer @ Insula Primalis

13: Greazer -- Bugbear -- Fright Train @ Ruins of Atlantis

14: Sgt. Steel -- Operative -- Proletariat @ Omnitron IV

15: Ambuscade -- Hammer&Anvil -- Friction @ The Final Wasteland

(The rest, 16-40 are randomized with some slight cherry-picking to prevent too many similar teamups in a row. And I made sure that every villain was on a team with every other villain at least once, and every environment is used at least once.   I'll post the rest later, or PM it to whoever might want to use the rest of the list. Didn't want to make a huge post and break the forums or something. heh)

I didn't participate in this last year, since I didn't have access to my decks while it was going on (and I don't really enjoy solo games using the cards), but I was thinking of trying it now that we have a significant portion of the game in the video game.  But that only works until the fourth game, which requires Freedom Tower.  What would you suggest as an acceptable substitute to Freedom Tower and/or the Mobile Defense Platform?
