More new hero goodness!

Heroes:

Guise (EdgeDS)

Captain Cosmic (dshields)

Prime Warden Tempest (Kharnel)

Sky-scraper (Ario)

Scholar (slaaneshi611)

Villain:

La Capitan (advanced)

Environment:

Realm of Discord

Was tempted to try a "parallel universe" game with Ep 39 where it was the same villain and environment - and possibly with the decks in the same initial order.  But realized that it would take extra care, and possibly hang one game up if the other had a stoppage.  So you get a different villain with a crew and a different environment as well.

Would like to try a PBF game in one of the open slots.  Will wait for the folks who spoke up from the other thread to choose heroes first, of course.

I'm happy with The Scholar or Tempest, but I'll be posting an opening hand tomorrow evening GMT. Apologies. That said, I'd prefer The Scholar.

Mr. Rhodes has opening hand of: Don’t Dismiss Anything, Bring What You Need, Transmutive Recovery, “Get Out of the Way!”.

I should point out, I am no expert so if I drop the ball big-time, please tell me. Play to learn and all that jazz.

I'm hesitant to use BWYN straight away in case it's stolen but it's an option. As is just drawing two for a turn or two.

The best advice I've seen is "Play the hand you're dealt."  The weakness of the various hero guides and "describe this hero in four cards" formats is that they often ignore some of the secondary strategies the hero can use - or may be forced to use due to a shortage or cards or a sub-optimal draw.  With a lot also depending on the current game state.

I usually play the hand I'm dealt, don't worry about that. I'm not building to some 'ideal' play area. But thanks for the advice!

Wow, ow.

Guise will volunteer to take the damage from Battle-Forged and Final Breath.

"I knew that dame was nothin' but trouble the second she walked in here."  Pulling his trenchcoat tight around him against the unlikely rainstorm, Guise pauses to snub his cigarette out on his tongue to prove...something.

Sky-scraper's Starting hand: Explosive Reveal, Aggresion Modulator, Compulsion Cannister, and Rebounding Debilitator, so I'm staying in Normal no matter what happens.

Mr. Rhodes, if you were planning on playing and using your Bring What You Need, I'll take the hit from Walk the Plank so you can start building your hand.  If not, I'd ask you kindly to take the hit for me so I can get my three cards.

Unless others feel strongly that I should Rebounding Debilitate Battle Forged (pending Cosmic's plans), I was planning on playing Compulsion Canister on my turn which is good destruction fodder for the pilferous Captain which would allow ya'll to build up some what.

Also I just learned that my internet service is going out this weekend. I'll still be able to play my turns from my phone, but I may not be as chatty in strategy discussion.

So...target priority?  I'm thinking that La Paradoja Magnifica and Battle Forged are up there to remove the extra villain card plays, but I'm also leaning toward Siege-Breaker whenever we've got boosts to get past his DR.  Thoughts and opinions?

So, do we have any Ongoing destruction available? Because those Revenge cards are going to seriously hurt if we can't get rid of them . . . IIRC, Scholar and Captain Cosmic don't have any in their decks. Guise has Retcon and Sky-Scraper has a Link, but that wouldn't activate until the next turn even if played now. Hopefully I'll draw Ball Lightning.

Note: If an attack "kills" a Construct it does *not* trigger the Construct's effect since it is dead and removed before it gets the chance to trigger.  (I have been reading discussion in the Rules forum.)

So, given that, is Wounding Burst still being kept over Dynamic Siphon?

Also a decision to be made regarding the hero on-going or equipment card that is being destroyed.

Yep, destroy Gritty Reboot.

As La Capitan's pistol shots shred his magnificent trenchcoat, Guise leaps forward out of the disintegrating garment and reveals a giant battle-axe that had been hidden underneath!  His fedora falls away to display the glorious topknot on his head, and he rushes forward with arms (and axe) raised high while yelling the best battle cry ever.  "WOO!  Say 'What' again, I DARE you!"

 - Playing Blatant Reference will, I believe, heal La Paradoja Magnifica 1 up to [12]

Draw a Card:  Total Beefcake

End of Turn: Discard Selling Out to deal (1+2) projectile damage to La Paradoja Magnifica [9]

---------------------------

HP:  19

Hand:  I Can Do That, Too!, Super Ultra Kawaii!! * 2, Uh, Yeah, I'm That Guy, Total Beefcake

In Play: Blatant Reference, Guise the Barbarian

Trash:  Best Card Ever!, Selling Out

Under La Capitan: Gritty Reboot

Effects:
 - Increase damage dealt by Guise by 2. (Guise the Barbarian)
 - At the end of each Hero turn, you may discard 1 card.  If you do, Guise deals 1 target 1 projectile damage. (Blatant Reference)

Both will be destroyed at the start of my next turn.

Comments:

Planning on discarding both Super Ultra Kawaii's, I Can Do That, Too!, and one of my last two cards at the end of each respective hero turn to do damage.  If we're not ready to kill the things off because of the two ongoings that came out, I can at least get some of the crew low.  Unless someone draws an ongoing that grants a power to destroy villain ongoings (which I'm not sure if any of us have, offhand) I'll probably use Uh, Yeah, I'm That Guy for the final hero turn discard to deal damage, and save Total Beefcake.

Edited to account for Positive Energy Field healing.
Edited again - since Final Breath destroyed Dynamic Syphon, wouldn't it go under La Capitan?  I don't actually WANT that to happen, but...

Guise discards Super Ultra Kawaii!! at the end of Captain Cosmic's turn to do (1+2) projectile damage to La Paradoja Magnifica.  That should put it at 7 after it heals 1 from CC's card play, assuming that Positive Energy Field only triggers on cards being played and not from being "put into play" (e.g. CC's power.)

Lowest 5 HP would be the 3 constructs, LPM, and Chip, correct?

Shoot, I just realized that EACH Revenge does 4 damage. I thought each was doing 2 for some reason. Uhh, I'm going to probably revise that then, since that will break all the constructs . . .

EDIT: Okay, what do you guys think? I can get one Revenge out of play and kill Paradoja, we'll all get hit for 4. Or I can just do some damage across the board without killing anything using Lightning Slash and Chain Lightning.

OK.  Will await that being re-worked.

Two cards are currently under La Capitan: Gritty Reboot and Dynamic Siphon.

Bottom six in HP after the Electrical Storm are Construct [4], Construct [4], Construct [4], LPM [4], Chip [8], Siege-Breaker [10], Final Breath [10].  Underlined are at full points.

I guess it depends on if we are ready for her to flip, If we don't want her to flip, I can rework my turn get rid of tempest's construct and keep her at 2 cards for this round. I could just build up cards till we get her crew beat down.

If we put one of the Revenges back on top of her deck and kill LPM, that Revenge will come back out next turn.  If we leave LPM alive, it'll re-shuffle her deck so the Revenge might not come back out.  If we think that we can survive another round of multiple villain card plays and hope that we draw into ongoing destruction, maybe we just get the crew low but alive and see about killing them next round?  I dunno, I'm not sure what the best gameplan is.

Ok, I've updated my turn to play Into the Stratosphere, removing one of the Revenge cards and hoping it will shuffle away. Then I played Chain Lightning to get stuff in destroyable range, hoping we can get rid of the other Revenge before destroying stuff.

Well, she's going to destroy an ongoing (probably Blatant Reference) and flip anyway.  At that point destroying the constructs won't put them under her.  We'll just need to deal with her redirection and pink her to get the cards out from under her.  Up to you though, I'm not sure which is going to be more helpful.

HP:  20

Hand: Explosive Reveal, Linking Incursion, Rest and Recover, Colossal Left Hook, Compulsion Canister, Aggresion Modulator

In Play:

Trash:

Effects:

-------------------------

Start of Turn:

Play a Card: Colossal Left Hook, I deal Battle Forged 3 melee damage [9], LPM regains 1HP [5], Left Hook lets me discard [Aggression Modulator] to play a card: Linking Incursion.

Linking Incursion reveals Rebounding Debilitator and Rebounding Debilitator.

Rebounding Debilitator is put into play on Battle Forged, Rebounding Debilitator is put into play on Final Breath, this locks them down for the moment.

LPM regains 1HP [6]

Deck is shuffled.

Use a Power: Question: My reading of Sneaking (Play up to 2 Link Cards. You may move to your hand either 1 link card from play or 2 link cards from your trash,) would let me to play Compulsion Cannister, resolve it, then immeadiately allow me to return it to my hand. If that is true I play it on LPM [4] and Final Breath [9],

then LPM would heal 1HP [5]

Then return it to my hand.

If that's not legal then play it anyway and it doesn't return to hand.

Draw a Card: Proportionist

End of Turn:

-------------------------

Hand: Proportionist, Rest and Recover, Compulsion Cannister (maybe,) and Explosive Reveal

In play: Rebounding Debilitator (Final Breath) and Rebounding Debilitator (Battle Forged)

Trash: Linking Incursion, Aggresion Modulator, Colossal Left Hook

Battle Forged was down to 5 at the end of PW Tempest's turn, so the play of Left Hook would have healed the 3 constructs (still at 4), LPM to 5, and BF to 6, then taken BF down to 3.  The play of Linking Incursion would take LPM to 6 and BF to 4, then the play of Compulsion Cannister would net to both of them at 5...I believe.

Guise will discard I Can Do That, Too! to deal net 3 damage to LPM [2] at the end of Sky-Scraper's turn.

At least part of it.  And Sky-Scrapers power use since the part in the middle there is a potential interrupt.

I think the four ongoing/equipment still out are Scholar's Mortal Form to Energy, and Tempest's Electrical Storm, Localized Hurricane, and Otherworldly Resilience. So Mabel is going to get one of them.

We reeeeeally do.  If I can draw a Retcon soon that'll be one.  And actually, I misspoke when I asked about resolving Temporal Thief - we'll still have another ongoing/equipment to destroy after that thanks to Mable.

If we leave Localized Hurricane in play, I can copy Tempest's ongoings and Tempest and Guise can both use that power to try to draw into their ongoing destruction.  Any other ideas?  I'm not sure that my suggestions for strategy so far have been all that good.

This mainly represents everyone losing the top card off their deck to Temporal Thief.  The first "???" was Raiding Party and Guise gave up an on-going to that.  The last "???" is the Amazing Mable taking one of the remaining 4 ongoing cards from either Scholar or Tempest.

Sky-Scraper loses undectectable relinking to La Capitan.

My power use would be the same as last time (Compulsion canister on Battle Forged, deal two to him and LPM, return card to hand,) with the added bonus of it healing both constructs.  Although if it isn't against the spirit of things too much I might suggest having played it on Tempest instead of me (but that's awhile ago so I doubt we can make the switch.)

Alternatively I'm happy to lose Compulsion Canister to Mabel if we want to keep the form out (which I think is useful,) as I won't be using it next turn (plan on using Rest and Recover unless the board state changes dramatically from here, and I have ways of getting it back once it's returned to my discard.

So final decision, barring further discussion, for Sky-Scraper's power use: Play Compulsion Cannister on Battle Forged to hit himself and LPM for 2 which takes them both to [4.] energy field activates healing each construct to [4] and LPM and Battle Forged to [5.] In lieu of returning Compulsion Cannister to my hand I instead return Aggresion Modulator to my hand from my discard pile. Effects:  UYITG: When this card enters play, give another player a high-five.  If you do, treat this card as if it had the game text of every ongoing card in that player's play area, replacing their hero's name with Guise.  At the start of your turn, destroy this card.

Which leads to:

- -1 damage to Guise (copying Otherworldly Resistance)
- At the start of your turn, Guise deals each non-Hero Target 1 Lightning Damage. (copying Electrical Storm - don't know if this would actually trigger at the start of my turn before UYITG is destroyed, but expecting UYITG to be destroyed by villain effects first anyway)

If I read the situation correctly La Capitan will flip at the start of next turn right? And if I remember (don't have the card in front of me,) that means that each villain target heals for however many cards are underneath La Capitan. Which would cause 9+ healing to each villain target bringing Battle Forged up to full regardless and LPM pretty close to full.

Do we want to ignore damage in favor of card draw and setup or destroy Battle Forged and LPM and take the revenge?

If we want to wait it out and hope for the best then i propose this:

Someone hit my dynamic syphon which would let me recover my two rebounding debilitators and then I'll play them using my power (on my turn, or after my turn if Scholar does this,) to delay Battle Forged and whomever else for another round.

Otherwise I plan on jumping to Normal and enlarging my hand.

Thoughts?

You read the situation correctly - as it currently stands LaCapitan and all villain targets will heal 10HP during the Start phase of the next villain turn.

However, every villain card you kill will hit each hero target for 4 damage.

I can drop Get Out of the Way this turn to heal and, in theory, take out Mabel with the Mortal Form attack trigger from healing. Or anyone with 8 or less health (by my count, I'll be dealing 8 points of damage to 1 target).

I can also hit the Siphon with Truthseeker to trigger it and let SS get those canisters out if we want.

Also, does the forced discard from Mortal Form trigger the Augemented Ally boost? I'm assuming not, but any help we can get would be good.

I don't think it triggers since it isn't "anytime you discard a card."

Sky-Scraper

Tiny

HP: 16

There's no way for me to recover both Rebounding Debilitators and play them this turn so they're both sent to the trash.

I put Giant Left Hook on top of my deck with Reclaim From the Deep.

Hand: Rest and Recover, Agression Modulator, Explosive Reveal, Proportionist

Discard: Linking Incursion, Rebounding Debilitator, Rebounding Debilitator

Under La Capitan: Compulsion Cannister, Undetectable Relinking

Play: Rest and Recover: Switch to Normal, Move Linking Incursion to my hand, draw one card [colossal left hook.]

Power: Draw 2 cards, Catch a ride and Rest and Recover (just what we didn't need,)

Draw: Neutralizing Resonator.

Where's a Thoranthian Monolith when you need one?

End of turn:

Sky-Scraper

By Truthseeker, I, of course, mean Cosmic Weapon. My current plan is to grab the heals and lash out at Mable to stop her card destruction. And then I have two options:

a) Hit the Siphon to trigger a power use by Sky-Scraper

b) Hit one of the 5 hp targets (I'm thinking Battle-Forged to keep the constructs in play longer) to knock them down to two so that the Electrical Storm Guise and Tempest have out will kill them next time round. This is working off the assumption that Electrical Storm was out first so it will trigger before the UYITG destruction if it isn't destroyed by the villain and 'er villainous crew.

I suppose there is a c) and d) as well.

c) Hit a higher health target with CW so we don't get hit with the Revenge damage next turn if it's still in play

d) Heal for 1 and do another point of damage to someone with that.

I'm open to suggestions as well. I'll be mulling this over for a few hours at least.

LPM and BF should be at [4], shouldn't they?  They were at [3]/[4] at the end of my turn, one of them would've healed up to [4] on Captain Cosmic's turn which puts all 5 lowest things at [4].  Tempest's Electrical Storm would've taken them down to [3], but they'd heal back to [4] from his card plays and they wouldn't heal from Sky-scraper's card play because Tempest and the constructs were the 6 lowest HP targets at that point (so Tempest would be at [5] and the 5 constructs would now be the 5 lowest HP targets)

So...question on timing then - when Scholar plays Get Out of the Way!, does the heal trigger when the card is played before its text occurs (in which case it'd heal the constructs for no gain) or after the card text has been processed (in which case it'd take them both down to [3] and then heal them back to [4]).  If it's the former, the Scholar can kill one of them with Cosmic Weapon while still killing either Mable or the other one of them via Mortal Form.

I think they should be at 4, yes.

The wording is whenever a card is played. A literal reading would be that it happens before the text resolves. But that's my gut feeling.

If Revenge comes back out Guise got a retcon so we should be able to deal with it (should be able to, La Capitan's been awful good at ruining our plans lately,) if you can destroy Battle Forged (even if it means not activating the Siphon,) I'd do that because otherwise we lose a construct, she gets an extra card play, and he heals back to full health.

I might say that it's even best to remove Battle Forged than Mabel as she can always take away the hurricane to slow Tempest's imminent incapcitation, but I'll defer to others on that.

The one point of damage from Get Out of the Way! SHOULD take B-F down the [3], at which point Cosmic Weapon will finish him off. If he is higher than that, I can spike him with the damge from Get Out of the Way (which should be enough to kill him) and do something else. So we need to know if our health values are correct at [4] for both LPM and B-F and we need some sort of decision regarding the timing of the heals before I play my turn.

Hmm...if the heal would resolve after the card text is resolved, then another option might be this - if (and I realize this is a big IF) the Scholar has a card he can discard to activate Augmented Ally to allow him to use a power at the start of his turn, that's 3 damage to something, and then 1 from the card to still allow him to take out two targets (assuming HP calculations are correct, that is)

As of the end of Sky-scraper's turn there are *8* targets tied for low with 4 HP.  Tempest, 5 constructs, LPM, and Battle-Forged.  And I consider healing to consider when the card enters play, so the new card is not eligible for healing and thus does not count against the total at that moment.

And a quick reminder that anything not killed by the villain turn is going to get 10 HP of healing.

When she flips she doesn't destroy an ongoing, so only Mable would destroy one, right?  UYITG from Guise can be sacrificed if we want to kill LPM and BF.  If you'd rather take down Mable instead of one of them, that'll work too.

When she flips she stops destroying an ongoing, and also stops shooting.  Instead she heals all villain targets; redirects the first damage per round to a non-villain target; and prevents damage to herself in exchange for losing cards from under her character card.

If we have cards for Mable, I'll take out LPM and B-F when I get back home from work later.

Sorry about what must seem like odd timings for me to be on and post turns to everyone else not in Europe.

As an aside, I'll likely be dropping Mortal Form after this next to build up my hand, so that can be sacrificed as well. Although I say we start working on Mable because she plays a card at the start of the villain turn as well as stealing from us at the end, doesn't she?

Yeah, taking her out soon definitely seems like the way to go.  She's immune to melee, but at least she only has 6 max HP.

Edited to add: if we have Mable take out Mortal Form (since the Scholar will be letting it go next round anyway) or Localized Hurricane to spare Tempest the additional damage taken from anything, then we potentially do run into the question of timing on Uh, Yeah, I'm That Guy copying Tempest's Electrical Storm.

UYITG card text is
"When this card enters play, give another player a highfive.  If you do, treat this card as if it had the game text of every ongoing card in that player's play area, replacing their hero's name with Guise.

At the start of your turn, destroy this card."

If the copied text goes into the main card area above the "at the start of your turn", then the start-of-turn effect for Electrical Storm would trigger first.  If it's a case of checking which card came into play first, ES precedes UYITG so the effect would trigger.  If the copied text of UYITG gets copied onto the card below the base text, then UYITG destroys itself before the copied ES can fire off.

The Scholar has no trash to take a card from.

John Rhodes turns to the purple squirrel perched in thin air. "Move, little one. I need that ley-line." He waits patiently and then strums a seemingly-invisble string. A pure note rings out in the twisted void of the Realm of Discord and a line of fire streaks towards the crew of the floating time-ship and the unnatural abomination stalking them. The fire strikes each target before rebounding towards the Scholar and he is visibly restored as he flicks his fingers towards the hull of the time-ship and a blast of energy sunders it in twain. He merely glances at the glowing blade by his side and it darts forwards, towards its target.

Mortal Form to Energy – Discard a card at the start of the Scholar’s turn. Whenever the Scholar heals, deal 1 target that much energy damage.

Any preference for which ongoing/equipment we destroy, folks?  Guise's are almost certainly always going to be available since they'll get removed at the start of my turn anyway, but if there's a desire to lose something else, I've got no strong feelings one way or another.  If Mortal Form stays out, I'll copy it since I should have some card plays that will heal Guise this turn, but I don't think that's a make or break factor.

If both the Scholar and Guise have a copy of Mortal Form active, Downpour would do some nice damage too.  Since LC's going to be healing things for at least a couple turns I think we're better off focusing fire on 1-2 targets a turn, yeah?

So current plans are to have Mable destroy Localized Hurricane and Final Breath destroy Augmented Ally, I believe.

Final Breath is going to take out a construct a round.  L'Epeiste is going to be dealing damage that only grows based on our ongoings, and has low enough health that I think we can take him out along with Mable this turn while still getting ourselves better set up.  What do you all think?

Mable is missing from the start of turn damage, isn't she? If Guise and the Scholar team up, we can take out Chip or severely weaken Final Breath from the healing, setting it up for my play to kill Final Breath. Depends who we want gone.

Since I consider healing *when the card is played* and before damage is dealt due to the card my healing calculations come out a bit different.

I think the best thing would be to put my 2 energy onto the Explosive Bubbles, unless Sky-Scraper is going to be able to knock any of the villain targets down to 1 (because playing my card will push them up to 2 which is the most damage I can put out).

There's no healing after Captain Cosmic puts a card into play with his innate power, is there? (The power says to "put [the card] into play", which Positive Energy Field triggers "when a card is played".)

I was traveling and should be able to post my turn/power use when I get back tomorrow afternoon.

I am planning on using concusive clap on my turn to deal 2 damage to all non-hero targets, and if everyone is cool with, potentially playing Proportionist also (depending on what I draw from my power,) which would increase that to 3 damage to all of them, but also one to all of us.

Additionally (pending what I draw,) I will play Colossal Left Hook which will deal four damage to whomever we need out of the way (Final breath?). If I play Proportionist in addition to Colossal Left Hook it will heal all lowest for two, but I should be able to take out either Chip or Final Breath no matter which way things are played.

I think Guise is still copying Tempest's on-goings and thus has Otherworlds Resilience going - therefore no damage from the Concussive Clap.

Players can pick two cards from the pile under La Capitan to be returned to appropriate hero trash (from Sky-scraper's turn, plus one from earlier that still has not been picked.  This leaves 8 cards still under La Capitan going into Scholar's turn.

Low HP targets are:

Explosive Bubbles [2], Final Breath [4], Trueshot [6], Siege-breaker [8], Captain Cosmic [9/10], Portal Fiend [10]

No, Guise is copying the Scholar's ongoings this round so that he was able to do some damage when healed.

I think Captain Cosmic and Sky-scraper both have more reliable means of getting cards out of their trash than Guise, so if you two want to get your cards out from under La Capitan first, I'm fine with waiting on mine.

I'll check my deck when I get back from work but I'm happy for the Scholar to take the damage leaving him on one. If Tempest uses Cleansing Downpour and then I play Transmutive recovery, I should soak some more damage during the villain turn and then be able to hand out power uses on my turns. Although this seems to be wrapping itself up pretty quickly.

Alternatively, I can play DDA and use my base power for a point of healing (losing one HP compared to the other plan) but giving guaranteed draws next round. Leaning towards the second option, but I can be swayed.

The Electrical Storm damage to La Capitan was the first damage dealt to her in the round - therefore she redirected it to the non-villain with the highest HP; Guise, Captain Cosmic, or Sky-Scraper. (Now at [8]).  Advanced La Capitan effect on her "Split Across Time" side. (I have receive a correction that the "prevent via discard precedes this" - so never mind.  :slightly_frowning_face:

Trueshot at [4].  Siege-breaker at [2].

10. Does Advanced La Capitan redirect damage first or does she prevent damage until she can no longer do so, then redirect?

You would continue to go by the order of the card, so she would prevent damage as long as she could and then redirect damage when she could no longer prevent it.

Before you do that, I can only deal Truesot six damage on my turn (with the help of someone else!) and her healing would bring her up to eight (then down to 2,) but I was planning on going into tiny and playing some of my Links, but that would bring her back up to full health from the two card plays.

I don't mind not playing my links if that's the way we want to go, but I think it would be helpful to knock her down to [1] this turn and then focus on Siege-Breaker with Scholar's turns and Guise's delightful referencing.

While we're thinking of things, do we think we can get rid of (or whittle down) Explosive Bubbles before the Environment turn? I have an Aggresion Modulator that I was planning on affecting them with (the bubbles have a brain for modulation, I'm sure of it,) but if we can get rid of it I can play a Neutralizing Resonantor instead which acts as Ongoing destruction when we need it.

We should be able to take out all three remaining targets, yeah.  We can also leave the Bubbles alive at [1] to ping the 1 highest HP target and get another card out from under La Capitan.

Honestly, I'd like to see all her crew gone this round to hopefully give us the next round of breathing room, but I'll roll with whatever happens

If we do end up taking out her remaining crew by the end of Sky-Scraper's turn, then I'd be curious what you all think - would it be better to get two more cards out from under her on Scholar's turn, or save a damage-dealing card for next round in case LC plays something that pulls targets out of her trash?

Or I could, y'know, not impede Sky-scraper's turn and we just take out Trueshot on Scholar's turn.  Will edit accordingly.  Still curious whether people think it's better to save a damage-dealing card or pull two cards out from under LC.

In that case True Shot should be at [1] at the beginning of this turn.

Even after bracing herself Sky-Scraper staggers from the force of her clap, and decides to get closer to the action, much closer. As she shrinks she finds the Guise the Preposterous- "Get me in there," She squeaks, and as his entire body changes to reflect his delight, she wonders if she made a mistake in trusting him, but it's too late, she's already in the air...

-Sky-Scraper deals 2[+1] Irreducible damage to Trueshot [x]

-Sky-Scraper returns Compulsion Cannister and Rebounding Debilitator to her hand.

It looks like I left my deck elsewhere and won't get to it until the morning. I'd prefer to play the top card of my deck, but in the interest of not holding things up I will tentatively put Rest and Recover on top of my deck.

Gazes upon the trash pile

That is indeed wonderous.  And hilarious.

Since La Capitan's self-damage was prevented, is the damage reduction caused by Cortex Hyperstimulator still around?  (This is a rules question that has not been satisfactorily resolved, so Oaktree should probably just decide what should be done.)

OA
Oaktree
2015-01-22 03:01 UTC
#213

I think it is, and it's per turn as well.  In this case, due to Imbued Fraility adding +1 damage the damage reduction from Cortex Hyperstimulator would drop the self-inflicted damage to zero in any case - so the prevent via discard would kick in.  Without Imbued Fraility I can see the case where you can argue that the DR makes the self-attack zero damage and thus would not trigger the discard.  (Followed by discussion that order of application comes into play, yadda yadda yadda.)

I will, for the length of this game, rule that the prevent kicks in before the DR.  Thus treating it like the Spiff ruling on the advanced power that does the redirect.  The advanced power, and Cortex Hyperstimulator, are both in order after the prevent via discard effect - so it kicks in first.  Being somewhat consistent in regards to this side of La Capitan's character card.

Wincing from an unlikely restriction from Etheral Bonds, Sky-scraper continues to spread her technological sabotage out of sight from her enemies.

Sky-Scraper

Tiny

HP: 9

Hand: Linking Incursion, Rest and Recover, Explosive Reveal, Micro-Assembler, Aggresion Modulator, Linking Incursion, Thorathian Monolith, Compulsion Cannister, Rebounding Debilitator

In Play: Proportionist, Cortext Hyperstimulator, Neutralizing Resonator

Discard: Rebounding Debilitator, Colossal Left Hook, Tectonic Chokeslam, Catch a Ride

Under La Capitan:  Undectable Relinking, Undectable Relinking

Effects:

-Until the start of the Environment turn Sky-Scraper cannot deal damage

-At the start of Sky-Scrapers she may destory one Ongoing Card, if she does destroy Neutralizing Resonator.

-Reduce the first damage dealt each turn by La Capitan by one

-At the end of the Villain turn La Capitan deals herself 1 lighting damage

-Increase Sonic Damage dealt by Sky-Scraper by 1

-When Sky-Scraper switches to a larger size deal each non-villain target 1 melee damage

-When Sky-Scraper switches to a smaller size, draw a card

Play:  Linking Incursion

-Revealed Micro-Assembler

-Revealed Aggression Modulator

-Sky-Scraper plays Micro Assembler on Tempest (for the lack of anything better) [Tempest gains: Power: Discard a card, then search your deck for an equipment card and put it either into your hand or into play, then shuffle your deck]

-Sky-Scraper plays Aggresion Modulator on Etheral Bonds (Damage dealth to Heroes by Etheral Bonds is decreased by 2, damage dealth to Villain targets is increased by 1)

-Sky-Scraper shuffles her deck.

Power: Sneaking

Sky-Scraper plays Rebounding Debilitator on La Capitan

Sky-Scraper plays Compulsion Canister on Etheral Bonds. It deals itself 2[+1] damage [1], then it deals La Capitan 2[+1,+1] damage which is prevented leaving her with zero cards.

Sky-Scraper returns Compulsion Canister to her hand.

Yes So skys turn may have to be adjusted a bit

I would say have scholar hit  Etheral Bonds then sky turn would kill it.

I have a question on Tempests turn

if 2 diffrent cards say "to discard X amout of cards"

Shouldn't he get "Credit" for both cards from each discard

Since he had to discard 3 cards Shouldn't that also count for discarding 1 card.

You can't pay multiple costs with a single action. If you could then The Scholar could discard one card to keep all nine elements in play, and no one is saying that would be the intent!

EDIT: If I borrow £10 from you and then borrow a second £10 from you a week later, and then give you back £10 a day later, have I repaid you for both lots of £10?

I believe that'd kill it before it could do anything to  LC.  If Scholar hits LC on Tempest's heal, then enough cards would be out from under her that Sky's Compulsion Cannister would do her some damage (unless that damage would get redirected, not sure on the timing).

Unfortunately no - an ability that has a discard as a specified cost has to have that cost paid individually.  Just like the Scholar can't discard 1 card to keep potentially 9 forms in play.  Something like Parse's Critical Multiplier is different - that ability activates whenever she's forced to discard, but the discard isn't a cost to trigger the ability.

OK, I was thinking "Action" not "cost"

Like:

If I brush my teeth in the morning it makes my breath smell better and prevents tooth decay.

So it should read more like this:

AUGMENTED ALLY

At the start of that hero's turn, thier Player May discard a card (for this ability). If they do, They may use a power Immediately

The damage would be redirected if he removes the last card before Etheral Bonds hits.

So team strategy time:

We can either have Scholar attack La Capitan and then Sky-Scraper would place the compulsion cannister on La Capitan and hit herself (redirect to one of us presumably,) and etheral bonds, ending at the same HP for Etheral Bonds and allowing Scholar to hit La Capitan as much as he wants on his turn (I don't know how much he's planning to inflict on her.)

or:

He attacks Etheral Bonds so when the Compulsion Cannister is placed on them it kills itself before attacking La Capitan sending Compulsion Cannister and Aggresion Modulator to the trash where I would return Compulsion Cannister and Aggresion modulator to my hand using the second part of my power. This would leave La Capitan with one card under her.

I think it depends on the damage output of Scholar next turn and if it outweighs the 2 damage done to one of us.

I'll volunteer to soak the damage if we go with option A as I think that the Scholar will do more than 2 damage on his turn, but will defer to slaaneshi's input on that.

Edit - the redirection specifies going to the highest HP non-villain which I believe is currently Guise anyway.  Right then, very good!

Scholar has Expect the Worst in play So he would receve no damage, Plus it would have him heal 2 (3 damage to someone) he could discard another card for ally, 1 Heal (2 damage) play Tansmutive recovery and heal 2 (3 damage) So he could heal 5 and deal out 8 points of damage

Edit: well Guise would get hit but the rest is still true

My understanding was that you can only use a power once in a single turn. So if I discard for Ally, I can't heal again. But I will be playing Transmutive Recovery though. So I can do 8 points on my turn for 5 healing.

I think we're at the following point:

1. Scholar is up.

2.  There is discussion about adjusting previous turns in regarding Sky-scraper's play and handling La Capitan's last "stolen" card and whether to hit her with something that would trigger her redirect - thus clearing Scholar to damage her.

La Capitan has zero cards beneath her character card - and any damage she takes in the rest of the round will not be prevented or redirected.

John Rhodes straightens, seeing his oppportunity. "Not. Cool." He pants, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. He grimaces and a whirlpool of energy forms over the philosopher's stone in his hands, pouring into his body. Probably depends on whether or not Tempest will be able to continue using Cleansing Downpour.  If so (and if we get a Dynamic Syphon next to Tempest for off-turn uses of that power) then I'd think Mortal Form would be worth keeping out.

Ah, I totally forgot about the redirection. Ok. Well, at least the cards are gone.

I'm planning on defaulting to Cleansing Downpour for the foreseeable future so two healing-related forms would probably a good idea. I'll also keep using Grievous Hail Storm as long as I have cards to discard for two powers.

I will plan on dynaminc to Tempest next turn then

beyound that all I have left is: , Augmented Ally, Wounding Buffer, Dynamic Siphon

So unless someone else wants one of those I plan on destroying Anamation after 2 more turns

Also to keep in mind I have 3 energy bracers, and 2 Vitality Conduits that haven't come out of my deck(and my deck is getting small), My thoughts are to Put these on Scholar and make him a Formidible tank with -3 damage and hitting every time they take damage, so he would get healed and mortal form would hit over and over again.

By Truthseeker, I meant BWYN. Sorry.

"Think, man. Things look desperate but you know what you need to do." The Scholar straighens and dives back into his houseboat, returning moments later with a belt. "Much better." He says, tying the ragged, blood-stained robe closed.

The Scholar

HP:  7

Hand:  Don’t Dismiss Anything, Bring What You Need, Transmutive Recovery, Keep Moving, Flesh to Iron, Offensive Transmutation, Solid to Liquid

In Play: Mortal Form to Energy

Trash: Expect the Worst, “Get Out of the Way!”, Truth Seeker, Transmutive Recovery, Know When to Hold Fast, Don’t Dismiss Anything, Mortal Form to Energy, Expect the Worst, Transmutive Recovery

Start of Turn: Discard Keep Moving for Mortal Form.

Play a Card: Bring What You Need [Ongoing, Limited] Power: Reveal the top 3 cards of your deck. Put 2 in your hand and 1 on the bottom of the deck.

Use a Power: Bring What You Need: Revealing Flesh to Iron, Alchemical Redirection and Bring What You Need. Send Flesh to Iron to the bottom

Draw a Card:  Grace Under Fire

End of Turn: N/A

Trash: Expect the Worst, “Get Out of the Way!”, Truth Seeker, Transmutive Recovery, Know When to Hold Fast, Don’t Dismiss Anything, Mortal Form to Energy, Expect the Worst, Transmutive Recovery, Keep Moving

Augmented Ally – The Scholar may discard a card at the start if his turn to use a power.

Same Heroes, Different Day - ROUND 8 - Eight Bells

Villain Turn (La Capitan - Split Across Time)
Start -
  All villain targets heal 0 HP;
  La Capitan [64]

Time Flies plays Temporal Thief (seriously!?!)
 - La Capitan steals the top card of each hero deck and puts it under her character card (1st - 5th card)
 - La Capitan deals each hero target 1 psychic damage.  Tempest and 1 other target take zero damage
Guise [6], Captain Cosmic [5], Sky-scraper [8], Scholar [6], Autonomous Blade [3], Augmented Ally A [3], Augmented Ally B [3], Cosmic Crest [3], Cosmic Weapon [3] <==(one of these does not take the 1 point of damage)

Play - L'Epeiste [7] (ah hoh hoh - I have returned!)

End -
 - 5 cards under La Capitan, she does not flip her character card
 - La Capitan prevents 1 lightning damage to herself twice by removing a card from under her character card (Cortex Hyperstimulator)

=======
Effects:
- Whenever La Capitan would be dealt damage, move a card from under La Capitan's character card to the appropriate trash.  Prevent that damage. (La Capitan - Split Across Time)
- The first time La Capitan would be dealt damage each round, redirect that damage to the non-villain target with the highest HP. (La Capitan - Split Across Time - advanced)

- At the start of the villain turn, each villain target regains X HP, where X = the number of cards under La Capitan's character card (La Capitan - Split Across Time)
- At the start of the villain turn, L'Epeiste deals the hero target with the highest HP X Energy damage, where X = the number of hero ongoing and equipment cards in play. (L'Epeiste)

- At the end of the villain turn, if there are no cards under La Capitan's character card, flip the character card. (La Capitan - Split Across Time)

Status
======
La Capitan [64] (Split Across Time)
L'Epeiste [7]

# of cards under La Capitan: 3
Villain Trash: Temporal Thief (x2)

-------
Guise           [6]
Captain Cosmic  [5](immune to energy - all constructs immune as well)
Tempest         [9](-1)
Sky-Scraper     [8]
Scholar         [6] (high HP)
Autonomous Blade [3](next to Guise)
Cortex Hyperstimulator (next to La Capitan)
Cortex Hyperstimulator (next to La Capitan)
Neutralizing Resonator (next to La Capitan)
Rebounding Debilitator (next to La Capitan)
Micro Assembler (next to Tempest)
Aggression Modulator (in environmental Limbo?)
Vicous Cyclone (next to La Capitan)
Augmented Ally [3] (next to Tempest)
Augmented Ally [3] (next to Scholar)
Cosmic Crest [3]
Cosmic Weapon [3] (next to Scholar)

------- Environment --------
Time Flies (player gets extra card in play phase and draw phase; villain plays card at start of turn)

Comments:
- Each player loses top card of their deck to LC.  Two of them go back to trash before end of the villain turn.
- IMHO, the heroes have gotten an opportunity.  Nice of the villain deck to provide Guise with a target to damage that will allow Autonomous Weapon to trigger and hit LC.

- LC seems to like staying on the Split Across Time side!

Under La Capitan: Gimmicky Character, Where Did I Leave That

---------------------------

Start of Turn: UYITG is destroyed.

Play a Card: Where Did I Leave That...

- Draw 2 cards: Where Did I Leave That..., Gimmicky Character

Second card play courtesy of Time Flies: Where Did I Leave That... that was just drawn

- Draw 2 cards: Retcon, X-TREEEEEEEEME!!!
- Discard then both to get Blatant Reference back in hand

Use a Power:

Tough Choices:
- Play a card: Blatant Reference
- Deal 1 target 1 melee damage: L'Epeiste [6]
- - Blade-y II deals prevented damage to La Capitan [64] (2 cards remaining)

Draw a Card:  Lemme See That...

Draw second card courtesy of Time Flies: Guise The Barbarian (oh, the timing.)

End of Turn:

---------------------------

HP:  6

Hand:  Look What I Found!, Retcon, Guise The Barbarian, Lemme See That..., Gimmicky Character, Say Cheese!

In Play: Blatant Reference

Trash:  Selling Out x2, Super Ultra Kawaii!! x2, I Can Do That, Too! x2, Total Beefcake, Retcon x2, Best Card Ever! x2, Uh, Yeah, I'm That Guy! x3, Guise the Barbarian, Look What I Found! x2, Lemme See That..., Gimmicky Character, Gritty Reboot x2, Blatant Reference , X-TREEEEEEEEME!!! x2, Where Did I Leave That... x2

Under La Capitan: Gimmicky Character, Where Did I Leave That...

Effects:  Autonomous Blade [2], Blatant Reference: at the end of each hero turn, discard 1 card to deal 1 target 1 projectile damage.

Comments - Same nomination of Captain Cosmic to take the reduced damage.  If we get a Dynamic Syphon out this turn I can discard cards at the end of at least 3 hero turns to ping the Syphon to allow Tempest to use a power and trigger Blade-y II.  I think we should be able to get cards out from under her in time for the redirection to be 1 point of damage rather than Grievous Hail Storm.

Guise discards Say Cheese! at the end of Captain Cosmic's turn to deal 1 projectile damage to Dynamic Syphon [3] in front of the Scholar.

Blade-y II deals 2 energy damage to Dynamic Syphon [2] in front of Tempest.

That's assuming that the powers would be the two healing ones that would allow the Scholar to deal two instances of damage to La Capitan.  That should be all the cards out from under her, so the Electrical Storm damage to her will be the redirection, correct?

Can adjust if I've miscalculated.

Dynamic Siphon On Cosmic

Cosmic Crest On Cosmic

Augmented Ally On Cosmic

Ok, so Cleansing Downpour heals everyone for 2, Scholar removes 1 card from La Capitan

Scholar uses base power to heal another 1 and remove 1 card from La Capitan

Prime Wardens Tempest

HP:  11

Hand:   Reclaim from the Deep, Shielding Winds

In Play: Otherworldly Resilience, Electrical Storm, Cleansing Downpour, Vicious Cyclone (next to La Capitan), Grievous Hail Storm, Gene-Bound Shackles

Trash:  Aquatic Correspondence x 2, Into the Stratosophere x 3, Chain Lightning x 2, Reclaim from the Deep, Localized Hurricane, Grievous Hail Storm x 2, Flash Flood, Lightning Slash, Gene-Bound Shackles, Cleansing Downpour, Otherworldly Resilience

Effects: Reduce damage dealt to Tempest by 1

-------------------------

Start of Turn: Electrical Storm deals 1 lightning damage to all non-hero targets: La Capitan [redirected to Tempest, soaked], L'Episte [5]

Augmented Ally - discard Shielding Winds to use Cleansing Downpour: Heals Guise [10], Captain Cosmic [9], Tempest [13], Sky-Scraper [12], Scholar [11], all Constructs at full. Scholar can deal another instance of 2 damage

Play a Card: Reclaim from the Deep everyone may put a card from their trash on top of their deck. Tempest moves Localized Hurricane

Play a Card: Localized Hurricane

Use a Power: Localized Hurricane - Deal 3+2 damage to La Capitan [59] and 3 damage to L'Episte [2]. Draw Chain Lightning, Flash Flood

Draw a Card: Otherworldly Resilience

Draw a Card: Vicious Cyclone

End of Turn:

-------------------------

HP:  13

Hand:   Chain Lightning, Flash Flood, Otherworldly Resilience, Vicious Cyclone

In Play: Otherworldly Resilience, Electrical Storm, Cleansing Downpour, Vicious Cyclone (next to La Capitan), Grievous Hail Storm, Gene-Bound Shackles

Question: Since I destroyed Cosmic Crest Would that also activate Destructive Response??

If so then I could hit  L'Episte

and Dynamic Syphon Scholar, and Dynamic Syphon Tempest

that would mean an extra round of healing

and 2 more power plays for Scholar

I wasn't sure if the cost would only go for conservation, since the txt on Destructive Response says The first time a construct card is destroyed each turn, Captain cosmic May deal up to 3 Targets 1 Energy damage each.

Edit--My argument would be this is a reaction not a cost similar to baron blade’s force field, if you hit baron then the force field reacts and hits you back, so if one of my constructs gets destroyed (no matter how) I react.

This was a ninja. I was writing and posted before the villain turn appeared for me. So I was pleasantly surprised.

I typed up a quick summary of things happening to the Scholar before I post my turn (which I will do along with the Temporal Thief and Reclaim shenanigans when I get home from work). Did I miss anything?

Cosmic’s turn – Cosmic Weapon from trash to Scholar (many thanks, I do so love options when it comes to powers)  - This is noted here because I forgot to add it to the effects area of my turn.

End of turn – [7], Effects: Mortal Form, Augmented Ally, Cosmic Weapon

Cosmic’s turn – Energy Bracer (DR1), Dynamic Siphon

Pre-Tempest’s turn – heal for 2 [9] and deal prevented damage to LC (1 card remaining) and then I get another power from Guise to heal 1 [10] and remove her last card. And then :

Tempest’s turn – heal for 2 [12] and deal 2 energy damage to someone. – The target is up for debate at the minute, probably LC while there are no cards under her.

Not to butt in on your guys' game, but arent Constructs immune to energy damage, due to the fact that Cosmic Crest is out?

If that's the case, you wouldn't be able to trigger the Dynamic Syphon–the construct would be immune to the damage.

Since it doesn't have a destruction effect on it I think it stays in play until removed by something.

For Scholar, I'd say to attack La Capitan, I'll be dealing a good bit of damage to L'Epeiste on my turn.

Which I'll take now:

Sky-scraper lost Catch a Ride to La Capitan, but it is now in her deck.

Returned Undectable Relinking to the top of my deck.

Sky-Scraper

Tiny

HP: 9

Hand: Rest and Recover, Explosive Reveal, Micro-Assembler, Aggresion Modulator, Thorathian Monolith, Compulsion Cannister, Tectonic Chokeslam, Thorathian Monolith, Compulsion Cannister

In Play: Proportionist, Cortext Hyperstimulator (La Capitan), Neutralizing Resonator (La Capitan), Aggresion Modulator (Next to Nothing,) Rebounding Debilitator (La Capitan), Micro Assembler (Tempest,) Cortex HyperStimulaor (La Capitan)

Discard: Rebounding Debilitator, Colossal Left Hook, Tectonic Chokeslam, Catch a Ride, Linking Incursion, Undectable Relinking, Undectable Relinking

Under La Capitan:  None

Effects:

-Tempest has Power: Discard a card, then search your deck for an equipment card and put it either into your hand or into play, then shuffle your deck

-When La Capitan would deal 3 or more damage prevent that damage and Rebounding Debilitator goes to the top of Sky-scraper's deck or is discarded.

-At the start of Sky-Scrapers she may destory one Ongoing Card, if she does destroy Neutralizing Resonator.

-Reduce the first damage dealt each turn by La Capitan by two

-At the end of the Villain turn La Capitan deals herself 1 lighting damage

-At the end of the Villain turn La Capitan deals herself 1 lightning damage

-Increase Sonic Damage dealt by Sky-Scraper by 1

-When Sky-Scraper switches to a larger size deal each non-villain target 1 melee damage

-When Sky-Scraper switches to a smaller size, draw a card

------Turn-----

(I'm assuming Scholar picks La Capitan for his 2 damage, and I believie only 1 damage has been done to L'Epeiste, so I'm figuring from HP [62] and [6] respectively, let me know if I'm wrong.)

Play: Rest and Recover

-Sky-Scraper switches to larger size (Normal) so she deals 1 damage to all non-hero targets, La Capitan [61], L'Epeiste [5]

-Sky-Scraper regains 1 HP [12], draws one card (Undectable Relinking,) and returns Colossal Left Hook to her hand

Play: Colossal Left Hook

Sky-Scraper switches to larger size (Huge) so she deals 1 damage to all non-ero targets, La Capitan [60] and L'Epeiste [4.]

-She deals La Capitan 3 damage [57] and discards Micro-Assembler to play another card.

Play: Tectonic Chokeslam

-Sky-Scraper deals La Capitan 4 damage [53,] Sky-scraper deals ever target 1 projectile damage:

La Capitan [52], L'Epeiste [3]

She will hit Dynamic Syphon to allow a power use for Tempest (but don't using Cleansing Downpour yet, because:)

Power: Concussive Clap

Sky-Scraper delas each non-hero target 2[+1] damage (La Captian [49] L'Epeiste [x])

Sky-Scraper deals each hero target 0[+1] damage, hitting Dynamic Syphon again, which I think means everybody is back where they were at (except Tempest who soaked the damage and is now at [15]

Draw: Linking Incursion

Draw: Explosive Reveal

----End of Turn----

Sky-Scraper

Huge

HP: 10

Hand: Explosive Reveal, Explosive Reveal, Aggresion Modulator, Thorathian Monolith, Compulsion Cannister, Thorathian Monolith, Compulsion Cannister, Linking Incursion, Undectable Relinking

-Increase Sonic Damage dealt by Sky-Scraper by 1

-When Sky-Scraper switches to a larger size deal each non-villain target 1 melee damage

-When Sky-Scraper switches to a smaller size, draw a card

Notes: I think this is the best way to play my turn, I can also play it in such a way that I am Tiny, deal La'Capitan one more damage, but don't give Tempest the power uses, which I can change to if we think that's better.

Oh mighty Cat God, Still wanting to know about my question, Casue if it is true then Scholar would get 1 more hits and we would all receve 1 more heal.

Edit-- I didnt put out Sholars Syphon yet, but we would still receve 1 heal and scholar would receve 1 more hit

Tempest couldn't use Cleansing Downpour twice in one turn, but if that works and you hit his Syphon earlier in your turn then I'd just need to adjust my discard to deal damage to something other than Tempest's Syphon.

Also, I think we need to re-check La Capitan's health, as I'm pretty sure that a Localized Hurricane hit got lost and the off-turn use of that power wasn't factored into the health totals I had for her in my last post.

GUISE IN BETWEEN:

Guise discards Say Cheese! at the end of Captain Cosmic's turn to deal 1 projectile damage to Dynamic Syphon [3] in front of the Scholar.

Blade-y II deals 2 energy damage to Dynamic Syphon [2] in front of Tempest.

Tempest Uses Cleansing Downpour

Guise [8]

Captain Cosmic  [7]

Tempest         [11]

Sky-Scraper     [10]

Scholar         [8] (1 power use from Mortal form) (1 Power from Dynamic Syphon)

Scholar removes 1 card from La Capitan with (1 Mortal form use)

Scholar uses base power to heal another 1 and remove 1 card from La Capitan (Dynamic Syphon Use)

Scholar         [9]

Constructs all healed back to (4)

NO CARD UNDER La Capitan

TEMPESTS TURN:

Electrical Storm deals 1 lightning damage to all non-hero targets: La Capitan [redirected to Tempest, soaked], L'Episte [5]

Cleansing Downpour

Guise [10]

Captain Cosmic  [9]

Tempest         [13]

Sky-Scraper     [12]

Scholar         [11] (1 power use from Mortal form)

Localized Hurricane - Deal 3+2 damage to La Capitan [59] and 3 damage to L'Episte [2].

SKY SCRAPER TURN:

-Sky-Scraper switches to larger size (Normal) so she deals 1 damage to all non-hero targets, La Capitan [58], L'Epeiste [1]

-Sky-Scraper regains 1 HP [13]

Sky-Scraper switches to larger size (Huge) so she deals 1 damage to all non-hero targets, La Capitan [57] L'Epeiste [X]

-She deals La Capitan 3 damage [54]

Sky-Scraper deals La Capitan 4 damage [50] Sky-scraper deals ever target 1 projectile damage:

La Capitan [49]

She will hit Dynamic Syphon to allow a power use for Tempest (but don't using Cleansing Downpour yet, because:) (Tempest Uses Localized Hurricane to hit La Capitan for 3+2 damage and draw 2 cards La Captian [44])

Sky-Scraper delas each non-hero target 2[+1] damage (La Captian [41]

Sky-Scraper deals each hero target 0[+1] damage, hitting Dynamic Syphon again, and Scholars Syphon also

Heals Every one back to where they Started

Scholar Gets (2 power use from Mortal form) (1 Power from Dynamic Syphon)

So Scholar is at [11] With 3 Hits 2 mortals, 1 Syphon (So he could decide to use Cosmic weapon also or his base power again to get him at [12])

GUISE IN BETWEEN:

Guise discards Gimmicky Character at the end of Sky-Scraper's turn to deal 1 projectile damage to La Capitan [40]

I forgot scholar has energey bracers on so he would absorb Skys hit

Scholar         [12/13] (2 power use from Mortal form) (1 Power from Dynamic Syphon)

the only other thing I am not sure of is :

Sky-Scraper deals each hero target 0[+1] damage

So if we all only take 1 damage then we would all be up by 1 HP after Downpour

Guise           [11]

Captain Cosmic  [10]

Tempest         [14](-1)  (+1) (high HP) [Gets to Draw 2 cards]

Sky-Scraper dealt everyone 1 from Tectonic Chokeslam and then 1 from Concussive Clap, which is why the Cleansing Downpour netted us no gain from that use of the power on Sky-Scraper's turn.

Edit - other than the Scholar who could soak both of those hits because of the Energy Bracers, of course.

By 2 power use, I assume it is meant that I have two instances of damage to hit up to two things with (in relation to Mortal Form). If this is true, I'll redirect the net 3 to LC leaving her on [35]. So my pre-turn breakdown is thus:

Topdeck DDA with Reclaim.

Villain turn – [6]

Cosmic – [9] (2 instances of damage, target LC to remove her cards)

Tempest – [11] (1 instance of 2 energy – hits LC and factored into SS’s turn)

SS – 1 power use (From Tectonic Chokeslam) 1 power use (From base power) – Tempest heals Scholar for [13] and gives 2 energy to hit LC. 1st power use – Better Living: [14] and hit LC for another 1. This leaves 3 energy for LC (as explained at the top of the post). 2nd power use – BWYN: DDA, Offensive Transmutation, Know When to Turn Loose (bottomdeck KWtTL)

The Scholar

HP:  14 (DR1)

Hand:  Don’t Dismiss Anything, Bring What You Need, Flesh to Iron, Offensive Transmutation, Solid to Liquid, Alchemical Redirection, Grace Under Fire, Don’t Dismiss Anything, Offensive Transmutation

In Play: Mortal Form to Energy, Bring What You Need, Augmented Ally [4], Cosmic Weapon [4], Dynamic Siphon [4], Energy Bracers [4]

Trash: Expect the Worst, “Get Out of the Way!”, Truth Seeker, Transmutive Recovery, Know When to Hold Fast,Keep Moving, Mortal Form to Energy, Expect the Worst, Transmutive Recovery, Keep Moving, Keep Moving, Alchemical Redirection

-/-

Start of Turn: Discard Grace Under Fire for Mortal Form.

Play a Card: Solid to Liquid: Whenever the Scholar would regain HP, increase the amount regained by 1

2nd Play: Offensive Transmutation – Deal 2 infernal to LC [32]. LC cannot deal damage until the start of my next turn.

Use a Power: Better Living: Regain 1+1HP [16] and target Tempest’s Dynamic Siphon [2]. It is my intent for this to trigger Cleansing Downpour so the Scholar regains 2+1 [19] and targets LC [29]

Draw a Card:  Solid to Liquid, Know When to Hold Fast

End of Turn: N/A

-/-

HP:  19 (DR1)

Hand:  Don’t Dismiss Anything, Bring What You Need, Flesh to Iron, Offensive Transmutation, Solid to Liquid, Alchemical Redirection, Don’t Dismiss Anything, Solid to Liquid, Know When to Hold Fast

In Play: Mortal Form to Energy, Bring What You Need, Solid to Liquid, Augmented Ally [4], Cosmic Weapon [4], Dynamic Siphon [4], Energy Bracers [4]

Trash: Expect the Worst, “Get Out of the Way!”, Truth Seeker, Transmutive Recovery, Know When to Hold Fast, Don’t Dismiss Anything, Mortal Form to Energy, Expect the Worst, Transmutive Recovery, Keep Moving, Grace Under Fire, Offensive Transmutation

Effects: Mortal Form to Energy – Discard a card at the start of the Scholar’s turn. Whenever the Scholar heals, deal 1 target that much energy damage.

Solid to Liquid - Whenever the Scholar would regain hp, increase the amount he regains by 1.

Augmented Ally – The Scholar may discard a card at the start if his turn to use a power.

Cosmic Weapon – Power: The Scholar may deal 3 energy damage to a target.

Energy Bracers – Damage reduction of 1.

-/-

Comments: My next play will likely be DDA.

I believe *fingers crossed* everything is in order there. If something seems wrong, let me know your working and I'll see where I done goofed. Also. HEALTH!

At the end of the Scholar's turn, Guise discards Lemme See That... to deal 1 projectile damage to Tempest's Dynamic Syphon (should leave it at 3, I believe?) to allow him a second power use.

- Blade-y II deals 2 energy damage to the Scholar's Dynamic Syphon [2] to allow him to use a second power on his turn.

Both of them have powers available that'll do more than if I just hit LC directly, so...have fun!

OK. Got home to see 22 messages to go through.  :open_mouth:

Independently calculated I have things at:

La Capitan [24] (Split Across Time)(cannot deal damage)
L'Epeiste [X]

# of cards under La Capitan: 0
Villain Trash: Temporal Thief (x2)

-------
Guise           [12]
Captain Cosmic  [11]
Tempest         15(+1)
Sky-Scraper     [15]
Scholar         19 (high HP)
Autonomous Blade [4](next to Guise)
Cortex Hyperstimulator (next to La Capitan)
Cortex Hyperstimulator (next to La Capitan)
Neutralizing Resonator (next to La Capitan)
Rebounding Debilitator (next to La Capitan)
Micro Assembler (next to Tempest)
Aggression Modulator (in environmental Limbo?)
Vicous Cyclone (next to La Capitan)
Augmented Ally [4] (next to Tempest)
Augmented Ally [4] (next to Scholar)
Energy Bracer [4] (next to Scholar)
Cosmic Weapon [4] (next to Scholar)
Dynamic Siphon [3] (next to Tempest)
Dynamic Siphon [2] (next to Scholar)

----

I would say that it would activate.  Captain Cosmic gets to hit 3 targets for 1 energy each.

A. Presumably LC; which would shift her redirect to the last 1 point hit she got from Scholar; and then she would take 1 point from Electrical Storm.

B. Tempest's Dynamic Siphon - He did Cleansing Downpour due to Guise play.  So something else and I don't think Localized Hurricane was in place yet.  Later plays will have this Siphon back at full HP.

C. L'Epeiste I guess - target chosen is moot I think.

Results:

  1. LC down to [23].

  2. Tempest has a power use from before his turn's plays took place.  Grevious Hail Storm is available for 4 damage to LC, unless we want to go with PW Tempest default power and probably have to redo things from there since it will affect card draw, HP totals, etc.

Environment - The Realm of Discord

Little timepieces with wings are sucked into a many-colored portal, but more appear.

In Play: Time Flies

Start: None

Play: Spinning Vortex

- Each player may destroy any number of their on-going and/or equipment cards. Then, any hero with ongoing and/or equipment cards in play deal themself 3 sonic damage.

- Sky-Scraper deals herself 4 (3+1) sonic damage [11]

- Captain Cosmic deals himself 3 sonic damage [8]

(Scholar would deal himself 2 sonic; everyone else 3.)

End: Spinning Vortex is destroyed

Trash: Positive Energy Field, Portal Fiend, Explosive Bubbles (x2), Ethereal Bonds, Imbued Fraility, Spinning Vortex

Effects:

- Players may play an extra card on their play phase and draw an extra card on their draw phase.  At the start of the villain turn, play the top card of the villain deck. (Time Flies)

Comment:

All the players have on-going or equipment in play, thus a decision to make whether or not to discard them all to avoid taking damage.  I will continue with a villain turn and we can adjust as things go.  (Though I expect probably every hero except possibly Guise will take the damage given the extent of their set-ups.)

Same Heroes, Different Day - ROUND 9 - This Could Be The Ballgame

Villain Turn (La Capitan - Split Across Time -> Time Corsair)
Start -
  All villain targets heal 0 HP;
  La Capitan [19]

- Time Flies plays Chip [8]
- Chip shoots Scholar [16] for (2-1) 1 projectile damage

Play - Walk The Plank! (one-shot)
 - La Capitan attempts to, but is prevented, damage the Scholar
 - The Scholar cannot use powers until the start of the villain turn.*

End -
 - 0 cards under La Capitan, she flips from "Split Across Time" to "Time Corsair"
 - La Capitan cannot deal damage to The Scholar (again) (Which does not trigger Sky-Scraper's various links)
 - La Capitan cannot deal 1 lightning damage to herself twice. (Cortex Hyperstimulator)
 - Chip shoots Scholar [15] for (2-1) 1 projectile damage
=======
Effects:
- Whenever a hero card is destroyed by a villain card, put it under La Capitan's character card (La Capitan - Time Corsair)

- At the start of the villain turn, each villain target regains X HP, where X = the number of cards under La Capitan's character card (La Capitan - Split Across Time)
- At the start of the villain turn, Chip deals the hero target with the highest HP 2 Projectile damage. (Chip)

- At the end of the villain turn, if there are no cards under La Capitan's character card, flip the character card. (La Capitan - Split Across Time)
- At the end of the villain turn, La Capitan deals the hero target with the highest HP 4 projectile damage (La Capitan - Time Corsair)
- At the end of the villain turn, Chip deals the hero target with the highest HP 2 Projectile damage. (Chip)

I was planning on leaving Blatant Reference out as destruction fodder, but I forgot that she would do that at the start of her turn, and she flipped at the end.  Guise will destroy Blatant Reference for the environment turn and not take the damage.

I can't get to the topdecked Blatant Reference without destroying an ongoing or environment card with Retcon, so no out-of-turn damage for me.  I think we're fine without that though, yeah?

If the heroes had somehow let LC survive into Round 10 she had a Raiding Party waiting to go.

It did see-saw nicely for a while with LC hitting hard out of the gate.  The heroes luck turned for the better around the time the entire villain deck got put in the trash and they managed to knock out the initial avalanche of crew.  From then on villain deck plays were relatively tame and the heroes got things in hand, especially once the Dynamic Siphon - Cleansing Downpour - Blatant Reference combo kicked into play to start healing the heroes up along with allowing Scholar to heal and trash LC at the same time.

I need to get more familiar with the Guise, Sky-Scraper, and Captain Cosmic decks myself.  I can generally recall what most of the cards do by title in the older decks, but not with the new heroes yet.

Episode 40 will probably go back to randomized heroes, and probably not get started until next week.
