Agreed. I don't think we want to flip him yet. I took care of the thief - let's get a little buffer out for the next theif to destroy and try to wear the Operative down until we can get rid of the Contract. I'll start using Extrasensory Awareness next turn, so hopefully we can bypass a few of the underbosses and/or Prison Breaks.

THE CHAIRMAN - ROUND 2
Denied the opportunity to use their talents in the service of their country, they began to operate what they called 'The Operation'...

The Chairman (35)
The Operative (45)

Start of Turn: (nothing)

Play: The Broker [underboss] (5)

End of Turn:

Operative puts The Muscle [underboss] (8) into play

The Fence puts Thief [thug] (2) into play
The Broker puts Informant [thug] (2) into play
The Muscle put Enforcers [thug] (6) into play

The Thief destroys Tachyon's Synaptic Interruption
The Enforcers threaten Parse with 5 melee damage, so she discards a card

(They would select a victim and then threaten to beat him up if he paid the so-called protection money. Four months later they started another operation which the called 'The Other Operation'. In this racket they selected another victim and threatened not to beat him up if he didn't pay them. One month later they hit upon 'The Other Other Operation'. In this the victim was threatened that if he didn't pay them, they would beat him up. This for the Piranha brothers was the turning point.)

OK, I think the following will be right. I've had a 3rd-grader around all day (he had no school), so my brain is a bit fried.

During Tachyon's turn, I draw Self Sabotage. During AA's turn, I reveal & replace Rocket Punch.

HP: 22

In Play: Gaussian Coil Blaster, Reactive Plating Subroutine

Hand: Slip Through Time, Reset x 2, Singularity, Self Sabotage

Trash:

---

Start: Gaussian Coil Blaster does 2 damage to the Operative [43, I think], 1 damage to the Enforcers [5], and 1 damage to the Muscle [7]

Play: Slip Through Time

Power: Timeshift the Rocket Punch into play

Draw: Focused Plasma Cannon

End: Play Focused Plasma Cannon. Rocket Punch does 2 damage to the Operative [41] and 1 damage to the Muscle [6]

----

HP: 22

Hand: Reset x 2, Singularity, Self-Sabotage

In Play: Gaussian Coil Blaster, Focused Plasma Cannon, Reactive Plating Subroutine, Rocket Punch, Slip Through Time

Trash:

I don't think we want to get an Underboss into the trash yet, but if a consensus of the other players says that one of the Coil Blaster or Rocket Punch damages should have been directed at the Broker to kill him, do so. Further, if a card requires sacrifice of an ongoing before the start of my turn, Slip Through Time can be the first thing consumed.

I can use the card play to take out the River of Lava unless Tacky was going to Blinding Speed it.  Altenately, I could get out the Assault Rifle so we can start taking out the Cops before Tacky's turn.  Also, if I got one of the boosts, I could use Shock Rounds and get out Hairtrigger to really good effect this turn

River of Lava doesn't seem worth taking out - does anyone mind discarding the top 3 cards of their deck?

I'm happy to give one of the boosts to Expatriette rather than Omnitron-X. Remember that any villains taken out before Tachyon's turn lead to retaliation damage. Ideally we get a bunch of villains down to low enough health that Tachyon can take them out after nullifying The Operative's damage.

Ok, assuming Expat gets the +1 and plays Assault Rilfe from AA

Expatriette

HP: 19

Hand: Unload,  RPG Launcher, Shock Rounds, Hairtrigger Reflexes

In play: Assault Rifle, Speed Loading

Trash: Liquid Nitrogen Rounds, Arsenal Access, RPG Launcher, Tactical Shotgun

Additional effects:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start of hero turn: Play Shock Rounds onto Assault Rifle

Play a card: Hairtrigger Reflexes

Use a power: Assault Rifle Crooked Cop (2), Enforcers B (3), Deputy (7).  Shock Rounds deals 2 damage to Chairman (no damage) Crooked Cops (dead), Thief (dead), Enforcers A (3), Enforcers B (1), Deputy (6), Muscle (3), Fence (3), Operative (no damage).  Operative deals 3 damage to Omni (17) and Expat (16)

Draw a card: Quick Draw

End of hero turn:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HP: 16

Hand: Unload,  RPG Launcher, Quick Draw

In play: , Speed Loading, Hairtrigger Reflexes

Trash: Liquid Nitrogen Rounds, Arsenal Access, RPG Launcher, Tactical Shotgun, Shock Rounds

Additional effects: Whenever a non-hero target enters play, Expat deals that target 1 projectile damage

I assume that the DR stays in place on the Shock Rounds even after the Cops are dead, based on games with Akash after you kill the Carapace.  If we can reduce all of the Underbosses to 2 HP or less, Tachyon can wipe the board with all of them

No, the DR goes away as soon as the Cops are dead, so, eg, the Deputy takes an extra point of damage. I'm not sure what you're thinking about with the Carapace, but perhaps you're remembering that Akash'Bhuta's self-damage when the Carapace dies is reduced. That's a different situation: The Carapace is still in play when the self-damage is dealt.

I would take it as the DR dropping once the Crooked Cop is destroyed.  The case with Carapace is that the Carapace itself is inflicting the damage and thus is still there providing protection while it also inflicts the damage.

I have the villain pile with the following point values and DR currently:

Chairman  (35) (DR1)
Operative (44) (DR1)
The Fence (2)
The Muscle (2)
Enforcers A (3)
The Deputy (5)
Thief (X)
Enforcers B (1)
Crooked Cop (X)

===

Tachyon still has +1 damage

Expatriette has +1 damage and Hairtrigger Reflexes is in play.

Omnitron-X needs to indicate what piece of equipment was sacrified to the River of Lava.

Prepatory stuff: I draw Disruptive Flechettes from Fleet of Foot and lose the Focused Plasma Cannon to the River of Lava. (I think multi-target damage is more useful than irreducible right now.)  I also know that the following pieces of my turn won't change based on the reveals from Parse.

HP: 22

Hand: Reset x 2, Singularity, Self-Sabotage

In Play: Gaussian Coil Blaster, Reactive Plating Subroutine, Rocket Punch,

Trash: Focused Plasma Cannon, Slip Through Time

-----

Start: Gaussian Coil Blaster does 1 damage each to The Fence [1], The Muscle [1], and The Deputy [4]

Play: Reset - Shuffle trash back into deck, draw Elemental Exochassis. Play Elemental Exochassis.

Power:

Let's talk for a bit: I can timeshift somebody (like AA to help him fish for an instrument or me to fish for components), or I can Rocket Punch to put the Deputy and the Enforcers at 2 HP each. I'm not sitting on a whole lot that's useful right now in my hand, so I'm tempted to Timeshift myself, but want to hear from other people first.

The benefit of taking the Deputy down would be we dont have to keep killing the cops and can start wailing on Chairman/Operative next turn, epecially with a second Hypersonic in Tachyon's hand.

Extrasensory Awareness reveals:

Rook City Is Mine!

The Contract

Undivided Attention

Additional Note: Assuming The Contract gets discarded the Operative will reveal the remaining six cards of the villain deck the next turn, not find an underboss, and then simply shuffle all six.  Since the group can count cards the current four unrevealed cards are Prison Break, Rook City Is Mine!, and two copies of Perfect Human Specimans.

It's been pretty instructive for me to run the Chairman and see how the villain deck operates.  Also useful to see at least one approach for a hero team to counter the various threats that roll out.  It appears that deck control is very useful, play of damage immunity cards eventually vital, and how someone like Legacy with Next Evolution in play or another high HP "tank" could alleviate a lot of damage.

I can also see how a single villain card play, especially with the Chairman flipped, could put a world of hurt on a group of heroes.

Here's my account of damage to Operative:

  • 43 HP at end of the villain turn
  • Damage boost from Syncopated Onslaught activates
  • Parse plays Syntactic Analysis, letting O-X play Disruptive Flechettes for 3 net damage, leaving her at 40
  • Ex-Patriette hits Operative for 3 net damage, to 37HP
  • Parse uses her Targetting Arrow. Here's one mistake: she should have done 2 net damage (since it is irreducible and boosted by the Obsidian Fields), leaving The Operative at 35HP.
  • O-X does 3 net damage with the Gaussian Coil Blaster (32HP), then 4 net damage with Rocket Punch (28HP).

I missed Parse's damage earlier, sorry.

I know what I'm playing next turn!

Where are you getting the Chairman's HP? O-X had him at 24 before your turn, which would put him at 20 after your turn.

Parse puts Syntactic Analysis on top of her deck. If she gets the card play, I'll be able to Recompile to get Syntactic Analysis back and can use it on Tachyon.

Ok. I'll play Recompile on Argent's turn. Discard Updated Intel, Quick Calculation, Targeting Arrow. Draw Syntactic Analysis, Gauge, Exploit Vulnerability, Data-Mining, Reveal the Flaws, Gauge. Tachyon's next damage is +3.

Parse

HP: 13
Hand: Data-Mining, Syntactic Analysis, Targeting Arrow, Exploit Vulnerability, Gauge (2), Reveal the Flaws
Play: Critical Multiplier, Extrasensory Awareness, Snap Decision
Trash: Data-Mining, Quick Calculation, Recompile, Targeting Arrow (2), Buffer Overflow, Exploit Vulnerability, Reveal the Flaws, Segmentation Fault, Updated Intel
Effects:

  • Whenever Parse discards a card from hand, select a hero target. Increase the next damage dealt by that target by 1. (Tachyon +3)
  • Damage dealt to the Operative is +1

----------------------------

Start: Discard Gauge (+1 to Tachyon's next damage - now +4) and play Syntactic Analysis on Tachyon (reveal top two cards and play/draw/discard them in any order)
Play: Reveal the Flaws - Damage dealt by heroes is irreducible
Power: Extrasensory Awareness - reveal the top 3 of the villain deck; discard ?; replace ? (top) and ? (second) on top of the deck; maybe shuffle
Draw: Impossible Shot
End:

----------------------------

HP: 13
Hand: Data-Mining, Targeting Arrow, Exploit Vulnerability, Gauge, Impossible Shot
Play: Critical Multiplier, Extrasensory Awareness, Snap Decision, Reveal the Flaws
Trash: Data-Mining, Quick Calculation, Recompile, Targeting Arrow (2), Buffer Overflow, Exploit Vulnerability, Reveal the Flaws, Segmentation Fault, Updated Intel, Gauge, Syntactic Analysis
Effects:

  • Whenever Parse discards a card from hand, select a hero target. Increase the next damage dealt by that target by 1.
  • Damage dealt by hero targets is irreducible

Pending Syntactic Analysis from Tachyon and Extrasensory Awareness reveals.

Question: Does Tachyon benefit from the +1 to Operative boost? It goes away at the start of my turn, but Snap Decision (which allows Tachyon to play some cards) was played before Targeting Arrow (whose effect ends at the start of my turn...after Snap Decision happens?)

Syntactic Analysis reveals Hypersonic Assault and Lightspeed Barrage. Put both in my hand.

I believe playing Hypersonic Assault now will make it expire at the start of my turn, and I want at least a couple more Bursts for Lightspeed Barrage.

EDIT : It occurred to me that the Critical Multiplier would actually buff my self damage from Pushing the Limits, so I'll put the Lightspeed Barrage into play and hit the Operative for 9 base + 4 CM + 1 TA + 2 OF - 1 DR = 15. That should take care of her.

I know Parse & Tachyon still have some stuff to deal with, but I'm headed to bed soon. Lacking other information, I think I'm getting one of the SO damage boosts since I'll have lots of instances, but that didn't appear to be decided.

Technological Advancement back on top from Vernal Sonata.

Trash: Reset, Disruptive Flechettes, Innervation Ray, Self-Sabotage, Disruptive Flechettes, Technological Advancement,

----

Start: Gaussian Coil Blaster deals 4 (1 + SO + 2xOF) damage to each of the Chairman and the Operative.

EDU draws Technological Advancement.

Play: Technological Advancement. Go fishing for the other EDU, shuffle, and draw Slip Through Time

Power: Rocket Punch to deal 5 damage to the Chairman and 4 damage to the Operative.

Draw: Bio-Engineering Beam

End: Nothing
