So after La Capitán's poor showing, let's try another villain. Spiff's randomizer gave us:

  • Plague Rat

vs

  • The Sentinels (grysqrl)
  • Chrono-Ranger (Matchstickman)
  • Ra: Horus of Two Horizons (PlatinumWarlock)
  • Tempest (Humble-Knight)
  • Parse (Oaktree)

in

  • Freedom Tower

Plague Rat snuck in through the sewers to the Freedom Tower while the Freedom Five were off on Mars! Can the visiting heroes save the day?

EDIT: Almost full! EDIT #2: And we're off!

I don't play many forum games but when I do it's as Chrono-Ranger against Plague Rat.

Chrono-Ranger draws a starting hand of

Danny-Boy, Displaced Armory, Sudden Contract, "Just doin' my job".

Chrono-Ranger baggsies the first Infection!

Sounds like Parse wants the Infection. I'm cool with that, so I'll take my turn.

The Sentinels

HP: Idealist [3], Medico [9], Mainstay [10], Writhe [10]
Hand: Coordinated Assault, Positive Energy, Restorative Burst, Team Communication
In Play: Sentinel Tactics
Trash:
Effects: The first time each turn that one of the Sentinels deals damage, they may use a power

--------------------------------------------------------------

Start:
Play:
Team Communication - draw Unique Capabilities, Caliginous Form, Fling Into Darkness, Human Shield
Play: Unique Capabilities - put Hippocratic Oath into play
Play: Caliginous Form
Power: Telekinetic Jab - Idealist deals 2 psychic damage to Plague Rat [70]
     M.D. - Idealist regains 3 hp [6]
Draw: Dark Delusions
End: Idealist, Medico, and Chrono-Ranger each regain 1 HP

--------------------------------------------------------------

HP: Idealist [7], Medico [10], Mainstay [10], Writhe [10]
Hand: Coordinated Assault, Dark Delusions, Fling Into Darkness, Positive Energy, Restorative Burst, Human Shield,
In Play: Sentinel Tactics, Caliginous Form, Hippocratic Oath
Trash: Team Communication, Unique Capabilities
Effects:

  • The first time each turn that one of the Sentinels deals damage, they may use a power
  • Anytime Dr. Medico would deal damage, prevent that damage and instead 1 hero target regains that much HP
  • At the end of the Sentinels' turn, if Medico is active, up to three targets regain 1 HP each
  • The first time Writhe would be dealt damage each turn, reduce that damage by 2 and redirect it to the villain target with the highest HP

I'll totally take the next Infection.

Just for group FYI my current interim plan with Parse for the next few rounds is to play Critical Multiplier this turn while using Extrasensory Awareness on Plague Rat's deck again - to get rid of Noxious Bite and see what the next round will bring up.  Turn after will be play of Recompile to power up some damage a bit for someone and draw cards; not sure what power use will be since it will depend on whether I need to make an attack myself or continue with deck manipulation.

I just figure we're trying to make this a short game and finish off the Rat before he flips if possible.  And instead of hitting the Rat for a few points I'll instead try to reduce how much he inflicts and maybe help us avoid some of his nastier cards.  And I pretty much figure one character per round getting infected is going to be par for this.

Wow, the draws are almost falling perfectly here for Chrono-Ranger. I'll deal another 10 damage during Plague Rat's turn (thanks to "The Ultimate Target" and Compounded Bow) and another 29 during my turn (if Tempest does Reclaim, otherwise it'll be 20 or 25). Even if Parse doesn't look at his deck again this turn I can't see PR lasting to play an unknown card. With the worst environment card in the deck we still have this well and truly sown up.

I noted that.  My intent is that it goes to an uninfected hero, CR since he'll hit the Rat on the Rat's turn due to a bounty, or once Medico gets infected possibly him since he can redirect damage to healing.  Next couple of plays will be Recompile to get cards and then whatever seems the appropriate power usage given the current situation.

--------------------------------------------------------------

HP: Idealist [0], Medico [10], Mainstay [10], Writhe [12]
Hand: Dark Delusions, Fling Into Darkness, Positive Energy, Restorative Burst, Human Shield, Team Communication
In Play: Sentinel Tactics, Caliginous Form, Hippocratic Oath
Trash: Coordinated Assault

Why don't you Block if you have nothing better to do? Of course, it's likely not to matter.

2 things. First is ra or I after CR? We talked about it between the two of us but dpt never confirmed one way or the other.

Second Ra should discard something other than wrathful gaze so he can use it on the rat

I'm going to declare that you switch places, as it seems to fit better with your schedules. So the turn order is Sentinels, Chrono-Ranger, Tempest, Ra, Parse.

Hmm, well, now Ra jumped the queue a bit! It's not going to matter, though.

CR hasn’t gone yet. He will leave the rat at 1 hp, unless he draws another eye on the prize in which case the rat is dead

There are very few Nemesis bonuses that see as much action as C-R/PR, add in the fact that PR can also boost hero damage and that makes for very short fights one way or another when C-R is hunting his other half.

Sorry for jumping the queue! For whatever reason, I had it in my head that it was my turn…looks like it really didn’t matter too much though!
