This is from a series of photos taken of Lake Erie, which gets waves that are just insane. I saw it and immediately thought of Ocean's Hungry Grasp.
Perhaps the spirits aren't all gone from our world. Lake Erie is notoriously harsh on traffic, with shifting sandbars and crazy wave patterns.
That skull in the water is especially creepy.
What are the dark areas over on the right? It almost looks photo-shopped.
The dark blob to the right looks like a very blurry seagull who happened to be flying past nearby when the photo was taken. The waves do look kind of weird, though - all sort of...particle-y. May just be a case of the Reality is Unrealistic trope, however...
They are a bit grainy, the photos were shot at high speed.
