Hello forumites.

I know OblivAeon is coming along, what with the preview stream done recently. I couldn't watch it though, and realized that the information about the release is fairly spread out. So, I am making this thread to help consolidate knowledge about when the doom is coming to us all.

I seem to remember an estimate of Q1 2019, which would be by end of March. Is this still accurate?

Handelabra hasn’t committed to any set release timeframe and hasn’t given any release dates until they know it’s ready.   There has been speculation based off the previews by people as to when it will be out but that’s about it.

Based on the stream of OblivAeon mode, end of March is possible, maybe, personally I’m looking more at a mid April-early may release.

Usually, and this isn’t concrete or anything, whenever they shown new stuff it Carmen out soon-ish afterwards.

Some characters came out a couple of weeks.

this being THE Major release, which brings in more than just heroes, but a brand new system, I’m suspecting about late March.

It seems close, but still not ready.

This is all all based on my own Profane Zealot mind and guesstimates.

With the last stream of OblivAeon on an iPhone, the bits I saw mostly ran well but crashed completely a couple of times. There’s also a couple of characters (Sky-scraper and the Sentinels) who are known to completely break things, so they’ll want that fixed before release. So it’s in the final stages, but since it’s so complex there’s a lot of opportunity for bugs to appear, which could delay it for who-knows-how-long.

But I hear the listening party is coming up, and that’s very encouraging!

Doesn’t say a time though. Curious if it’s afternoon or evening.

also it will be available on all platforms same time?

There's a chance Apple may have a delay on it until they 'check it'.

That's happened before multiple times, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, Apple's been behaving the last couple of releases, but in the past they were a bit slow on the uptake. Last time Amazon was the problem child, as I recall.

Ah, that's true. It was Amazon that was being slow the last time, wasn't it?

Well, let's hope everyone has their ducks in a row this time and gets everyone set up in an equally speedy manner.

Here's a question for anyone interested: For those with access to only the digital game, when OA drops, are you gonna play with all the new content right away, or will you play one or two games with the new heroes/environments to get used to how they feel before starting an OblivAeon fight?

I’ll play with new environments and heroes first.

then eventually playbOblivAeon

This has always been their intent.  The last few Amazon didn’t push out the update in line with the rest.

The only platform that's been on time consistently as far as I remember is Steam.

Down the line, once all the content has been released, I wonder if Handelabra has put any thought about bringing SotM Digital to the Switch. Sentinels on the go that WON'T chew through my cell's battery? Yes please.

They sent out surveys a year ago I think about the possibility of putting it on consoles.  Jeremy has certainly gushed about the potential of putting it on Switch.  If it did end up on consoles I imagine they’ll need a story mode.

Yes, this is my plan as well- I want to try some games with the new heroes and environments to familiarise myself with how they work first, and then move on to OblivAeon a bit later. I do think Digital will work well for solo OblivAeon mode though - it will track all the moving parts, and I can dip in and out of a game when I have the time.

I want to try out the heroes and environments separately before playing an OA game but I also want to try all the stuff quickly so I can give an informed Steam review. I've reviewed all the expansions and I want to do this one justice.

After a couple of games (maybe 5 for all the environments) using various combinations of every new hero, then I'll go straight into OBLIVAEON! Probably just cheese the game, 5 easiest environments, best starting team, etc....

Not so I can win, but so I can learn.

I don’t really think so. The game has done well enough all this time without the need for Story Mode, so I don’t think it would be a requirement. Especially if the game is cross-platform, allowing the current audience to bolster the number of players on any newcomers.

Besides, the best story in SotM is the one you make up on your own.

Is there going to be a Tutorial for OblivAeon mode?  I feel like it's a bit much to expect a casual video game player to just jump in, unless you think it's manageable without?

Must... Download.... FASTER!!!!

Anyway, I have the physical OblivAeon, but I have managed to play it a whole 2 times, including new heroes/environments. I will probably derp around with the heroes and environments today to familiarize myself with those, then am planning a co-op OblivAeon tonight and see if our undefeated streak continues or just shows how badly we mangled the rules :P

Yeah.  Ouch.

I actually felt less pressure in phase 2, but still go my head handed to me.  All the Scions were out at that point, but Voss & I had bounced… 4 of them? 5?

And the Sentinels were actually doing great, right up until OblivAeon popped the environment they were in, though Writhe survived that much.

Anybody doing this on mobile ? I've been waiting like 5 hours and it's still downloading. I just want to play it and now all it's done is take away the mode button and my vengeance heroes. What's the time frame on this download ?

Yeah, I played twice and it's HARD. I kept thinking "okay, I need my heroes in 1" and then something happens in 2 and I'm drawing 4 new heroes. Is there a general overall strategy guide? Like "should I work on flipping the shield first" or "take out the Scions" or whatever. Because there's JUST SO MUCH to keep track of.

The new heroes are great. Luminary is my new favorite hero.

The new enviroments are awesome. Mordengrad is a wonderful challenge without the icky feeling that Rook City gives me sometimes.

The mode itself is the least fun i've had in SotM. Its pretty close to the least fun I've had in table top gaming. Which is really hard for me to say cause I -love SotM. I love these characters and the setting and the stories. But the mode is just a mess.

So that practice game didn't go exactly as expected....

Legacy played Heroic Intervention over and over again, everyone hung out together and Cursor kept protecting Legacy from damage. Tempest and Tachyon kept letting him get it back and everyone just racked up rewards like crazy. I did pick the easiest environments so Temple of Zhu Long was a huge help as always (especially once Legacy got Danger Sense out so it literally only was hurting the villains).

I haven’t tried OblivAeon mode yet, but watch out for Luminary - he’s got some interesting interactions with some Villains - I started off slow by trying Luminary, Legacy and Wraith into Ambascade at Mordengrad. It was all going well until Charged Attacks came out and one of Luminary’s devices got blown up - it started a chain reaction that wiped out the small army of bots he’d built and completely wiped the team from near full. To add injury to insult, Ambascade was invisible so was at full health when it ended, lol!

Man, I was doing really well and then they kept doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I needed them to do.

I was on Drawn Deadly Attention, so I had sent my one hero who was really low over as a peace offering, but instead he decided to switch Zones and kill my 4 healthy heroes instead.

Then later, I had it set up so Voss was alone with ObliVAeon, and they had 13 destruction tokens, so they each were going to hurt each other pretty bad. Instead, he plays Relentless Hunter and LEAVES OBLIVAEON ALONE to pick on the heroes. THANKS, Voss. You had ONE JOB.

I somehow managed to beat ObliVAeon, even though I went into the last round with him at full health (Legacy + El Legado Mejor on La Comodora, with Paradoja Figurehead, and the Mecha Knight and multiple power uses meant I just chewed through his health)

Unfortunately, I didn't realize Voss still destroyed environments, so I lost on his first turn. Still, it was cool.

I lost the first game; I couldn't overcome OblivAeon's "Destroy 4 aeon men in one turn" shield. Either not enough would come out, or they'd be split between zones. I thought mercing Aeon Master would do the trick, but nope. I even tried resorting to using Omnitron-X and Argent Adept's Dark Dynamics power just to speed things, but to no avail. Did get to see Ra and Writhe have fun with an Infinity Cannon and Chekhov's Hairdryer though.

I got frustrated trying to flip the Source of Foes shield because Oblivaeon kept destroying all the Aeon Men before I could get 4 of them in one zone that were low enough to destroy in one turn.  So I decided to forget about Oblivaeon and make my own personal win condition to kill all the Scions, since the one time I played Oblivaeon before on the tabletop, I beat him, but barely touched the Scions.  Nixious had moved to zone 1 early, so zone 2 was empty for most of the game except for Zhu Long's ninjas fighting a few Aeon Men, which was fun to imagine.  Voss was tough to take down with his massive damage reduction, but the combo of Legacy, Suicide Ra, and PW Fanatic really helped.  I only ever got 2 rewards-Chronoist, who was quite helpful and got reclaimed a lot, and the Infinity Cannon, which got destroyed pretty early after being used once (although I'm not sure how I completed the mission to get it, since it just randomly flipped during a villain turn).  I relied on incap powers a lot though and even managed to finally flip Oblivaeon's shield while he was on his second form.  I noticed there didn't seem to be any benefit to removing the second part of the shield (at least that one) once Oblivaeon was past his first page though, since you've already removed the damage immunity.  Anyway, I was finally able to defeat the last Scion, just before Oblivaeon blew up the Nexus of the Void to end the game.
