RANDOM START
Ennead Vs. Horus Ra, Sentinels, Argent Adept and Prime Wardens Haka in the Tomb of Anubis.
Clearly designed to guide someone into unlocking Setting Sun Ra, including hints in the intro text.
Mint.
Pretty straightforward Ra vs. Ennead fight. I usually have trouble with the Tomb, but the first two cards were both of the treasures, and the mummies and traps ended up not being a factor at all. Idealist did go down, but otherwise not much trouble with this one.
Ra 8HP, Sentinels 5 4 0 6 HP, Argent Adept 11HP, PW Haka 22HP.

Also Mint, but ended up being a fairly tough fight in the end - Ra went down super quick (2 lots of the card that does 1 damage of 3 different types really added up quickly!) and after a pretty disasterous series of environment cards in a row the Ennead destroyed them all and did 6 damage to everyone...
Ended up with just Dr Medico, Idealist and Mainstay standing (although the Dr had brought back both of the others over the game!) - could have finished with Haka up if I’d thought about it properly and done a Haka of battle instead of a Haka of healing (as the environment would have finished of Osiris for me), and I was gritting my teeth that he would play another member of the Ennead while on 1 health, but he luckily let the Sentinels play card out of turn that finished him off...
But yeah, clearly a hint / set up for unlocking Setting Sun Ra.

Turn 1: Team Communication into Team Communication into Unique Capabilities (Durasteel Chains) and Human Shield. Mainstay uses a power. Argent Adept plays Inspiring Supertonic and passes a power to Mainstay. Ta-da, the team is basically invincible.
Yeah. Mainstay ate 63 damage in one turn (double Imbued Fire-fueled Rampage, Swinging Blades) and this was a cakewalk.

I didn't have it quite as easy as Bolnerap, but yeah, this was a Mint. Everyone was alive and kicking in the end.

Super easy for me. I didn’t even use Human Shield; I played Unique Capabilities like 4 times.
I gave Ra Solar Flare, and focused on just bringing as much pain as I could.

I had fun with this, but then I always enjoy playing the Ennead. I think all the big heroes ended with at least 15 HP. The best part was Argent giving the Sentinels extra powers, so we could get more psychic damage and more DR.

Near Mint for me. Had some really bad luck with the Ennead chaining cards like crazy in the first two rounds, and I totally underestimated how bad Imbued Fire can be for the heroes. Second game was as easy as could be imagined: Got the Human Shield/Durasteel Chains/Counterpoint Bulwark combo up in round 1, Ra drew both Scorched Earths while the Tomb got some chains of its own (9-10 damage to all), Haka played two Rampages while Imbued Fire/Flesh of the Sun God was in play... it was just nuts. Ra got back to full HP, then Set played yet another Scorched Earth (which AA had put on top of Ra's deck) for the win. Even though the Ennead pulled nearly their entire team into play in just a few rounds, they just couldn't do anything effective.

Fairly easy mint.
Mainstay probably the MVP of this fight. Unique Capabilities to grab durasteel chains on turn 1, and managed to stick human shield for two turns in the mid-game. Except for the last turn, Block all the way.
Things did get slightly nerve wracking on turn 2 (3? Somewhere early) Double rise to power added Geb and Nuit to Tefnut, Set, Osiris, and Nepthys.
Still, no major problems. Ra went down on the last turn, as Set’s incap played Rampage with an Imbued Fire to knock out the God of the Sun. Argent Adept finished off Tefnut with a Scherzo for the win. With the exception of Ra, everybody between half and full health.
After the last few weeks, it’s nice to start the New Year with a Mint!

Easy Mint, just an ordinary fight vs the Ennead in the Tomb of Anubis, with a team that although it is unusual is very powerful! It gave me heightened appreciation of the Horus of Two Horizons. The Ennead got out a bunch of members early (I think there were 7 of them at the height of their power) but they only had one round of real chaining, and both times Anubis showed up they quickly destroyed him. We were able to focus fire and take them apart systematically, with nobody dying and only the Sentinels being at any kind of real risk at any point.
When a game is a random start, I like this style of easy but unusual setup better than the harder, more puzzle-like ones that we usually get otherwise. Feels more fair when the frustration of a bad start is minimized.

Mint with a little difficulty; Haka had nothing but hakas on the opening hand, and Ra didn't have any damage dealers. Having Atum and Set together was annoying as well. Fortunately, I was able to draw into some damage dealers for both Ra and Haka, with the Sentinels providing a fair check of the damage. First turn draw for them saw a team communications, which lead to a second team communications, a pair of unique capabilities, and a tactics. After that it was a slow but steady grind; only worrying part was when two members of the Ennead came out at the same time. Fortunately, Set was defeated by that point, and he pulled a well-timed ground pound from Haka to prevent the loss of Ra.
Some random start games are fun; others are frustrating, especially if you're trying to go for a mint.

Ouch. Mint, and not really in danger of losing, but everyone down but the Sentinels. Repeated Ongoing/Equipment wipes make it hard to get in control of things, but Sentinel Tactics plus the incap Abilities make damage output possible to take out remaining Ennead while protecting everyone remaining with 3 Block activations a round.

Mint. Tried for Ra's unlock, but lost it when Ra was incapped by an unlucky Desert's Wrath which dealt exactly enough damage to kill Ra.

Easy mint, using a similar setup to Bolnerap's: Human shield + Inspiring Tonic made the heroes mostly impervious to damage. Argent Adept pulled out enough ongoing and equipment to ignore any destruction and Ra killed off the Scarab Swarms whenever they came out. Otherwise, I ignored the environment. Vernal Sonata was used to pull Team communication out for the Sentinels and keep them flush with cards. Haka got Taiha and did what Haka does best. Everyone ended near full hp.

This is my first post on this forum, and my third week doing new one-shots. Ennead and environment basically allowed me to completely coast to a minty victory. I did not even need to heal to have everyone finish at almost full hp.

I was going for the unlock, got Ra down to 1 during my turn, and then promptly played Haka of Restoration on Haka's normal card play...
[Expletive redacted].
Whelp, off to mint this, anmd then get the unlock using another party.

Got the mint, despite seeing every Ennead member throughout the game… Made for a long one but I was never in any danger.
