As a reminder, the F5 general prerequisite conditions apply:

First, the Prime Wardens (all variant members) must be defeated by Progeny anywhere other than Rook City or Megalopolis. Then, Dark Watch (all variant members) must by defeated by Progeny in Rook City. Then, the Freedom Five (non-variant members) must be defeated by Progeny in Rook City.

If you completed these games already (since F5 Bunker was made available), you don't have to do it again.

My guess is it’s going to involve playing a bunch of her one-shots. Possibly one of each. So that’s going to be my first attempt.

If that doesn’t work, maybe she needs to do that and also die.

Welp, I tried blowing Progeny out of the water with a triple LSB with all Bursts in the trash, and that didn't work. Also tried a double max LSB followed by a reshuffle off Research Grant, and that didn't do it either.

Right, she gets severely messed up in the Progeny battle.  Her needing to get incapped is a strong possibility.

If there's a card requirement, I'm thinking less her one-shots and more her Bursts. Maybe she has to have them all in her trash.  On the other hand, F5 Tachyon is all about removing Bursts from her trash–having to end the game with zero bursts in the trash would be painful to try but it's worth considering.  Although technically if she's incapped, she has no bursts in her trash, so one could try both of those at once.

F5 Tachyon also does a lot of ping damage, so she might have to play all her damage cards, or possibly just Nimble Strike, Accelerated Assault, and Hypersonic Assault (the 1-damage ones).

Well, I played all of her one-shots (except Sucker Punch) and ended with 3 hp. Maybe I should have killed her for good measure.

That makes sense. Hard to engineer, what with Progeny, but logical.

Just having her die is not enough.

Yep, echo that - I tried another game where all I played were non-Burst cards (Hypersonic Assault, Sonic Vortex to no effect, HUD Goggles, Pushing the Limits, and both Research Grants), then let Progeny KO Tachyon before I won. That didn't work... though both Research Grants weren't in play when she was incapped thanks to Progeny's ongoing destruction.

No Burst cards hit the trash in that game either, just for laughs.

Put out Pushing the Limits on turn 1 and left it out all game. Incapped by Progeny. Used all three Barrages. No unlock.

Threw some more stuff against the wall - as always, Progeny/Megalopolis. From the Letters Page, they describe Tachyon pushing herself to the limit and not being able to do much to Progeny, before being incapacitated. So, I built up her hand (only getting Research Grant out for a long time), then got out HUD Goggles / Pushing the Limits. The next round, Tachyon hit herself to bring herself down below 10 and become the lowest HP character, and unleashed 2x Fleet of Foot, 2x Lightning Reflexes, all three Nimble Strikes, and an Accelerated Assault. Progeny then incapacitated her on its next turn and AZ went on to kill it. No luck.

Has anyone tried Tachyon either incapacitating herself or bringing herself down to 1 HP with Pushing the Limits?  Or perhaps doing an absurd amount of damage to herself with pushing the limits?

Idea: Deal damage with Lightspeed Barrage, then shuffle your trash into your deck as Tachyon, and THEN defeat Progeny using Lightspeed Barrage. Maybe also have Pushing the Limits enter and/or leave play.

Additional general theory: the teams themselves don’t have to be all non-variant versions, but the one you’re unlocking does.

I don't see any discussion in the Steam forums about it, so no real tips other than the screenshot itself.  It does show that she's incapped though, so that's important.

Maybe

Complete prereqs, then beat Progeny in Megalopolis with the Vanilla Freedom Five. Tachyon must KO herself with PtL. Progeny must be incapped on Tachyon's turn.

Yeah, earlier today I tried a thought based on the plot of "she exhausts herself and gets incapacitated" - having Pushing the Limits / HUD Goggles + Research Grant out, I played myself out of cards multiple times (to the point where I had card plays left that I couldn't use), then Tach was incapped by Progeny while Time of Tribulations was out. I didn't get it, obviously, or I would have posted a screencap myself.

Glad I can take a break from thinking about this stuff for a few days.

Sure, here you go (same log I just posted in the Bunker thread).  I don't think it'll require her incapping herself, since that's normally something you would never do, but I did it anyway because it was the easiest way to incap her at the time.  She made Bunker play External Combustion for the win.  No unlock.

Based on what her power does.....she has 22 bursts.  Thus, my guess is:

Complete the prereqs.  Beat Progeny with vanilla Freedom Five in Megalopolis.  Tachyon must be incapacitated, and she must deal damage to Progeny 22 times.

Disproven by the only success log I see - she only initiated 17 instances of damage in Epiku's game, and a decent chunk of those were to hero targets.

Wait a second. Tachyon damaged hero targets? What if the unlock had to do with Tachyon damaging multiple targets in a round? This would be hard to do unless you had multiple environment targets out or attacked other heroes. Just trying to think outside the box here. How many different targets did she hit in a single round in the unlock?

Here's my (successful) log (It's a long one): https://pastebin.com/iVwFeSWx

My goals in this game were to:

  • Have Tachyon cycle through her deck multiple times. (Which, the easiest way to do involved keeping Pushing the Limits in play as well as using Research Grant often.)

  • Once Tachyon was low enough, have her "hold aggro" from Progeny. I wanted her to constantly use Synaptic Interruption to "just barely evade" it.

  • Eventually have Tachyon incapped by Progeny's radiant damage while Time of Tribulation was in play.

  • Never have Tachyon deal Progeny Sonic Damage

What I ended up doing became a bit more of a story. Early on I have Tachyon play all three Light Speed Barrages (for a total of 59 Damage) because I wanted it to feel like she "gave it her all and still Progeny stood." (I think I play one more for, like 2 or 3 damage before she is incapacitated.)

Then it took me a while to get setup to have Tachyon use those Synaptic Interruptions to redirect Progeny multiple times as well as cycle her deck several times.

The reason I avoided using Sonic Damage on Progeny was to sort of play at the idea of "Progeny is able to keep up with Tachyon."

(My apologies if this breaks when I post it. I mostly copy/pasted from the Steam forums.)

One more thing before I go through the abyss which is these logs: I believe that this fight needs to have Tachyon incapacitated. According to the letters page (arg?), Tachyon was beaten pretty badly during the Progeny battle. He new costume allows her to still function as a hero if I recall correctly.
Also, since her new power involves her re-using the power multiple times in a single round depending on how many burst cards she has in her trash, maybe the unlock has to do with her using multiple powers in a turn. If that isn’t possible with the FV, then maybe it involves her playing a crapton of cards in a single turn which is something I know she can do.

I just got the unlock for Tachyon.  Log attached.

Epiku mentioned dealing no sonic damage to Progeny -- that was true of my unlock but I don't know if it's required.  I think I turned my deck over twice.

The Freedom Five (no variants) must defeat Progeny in Megalopolis.  Tachyon must play at least five cards in a single turn and reshuffle her trash into her deck at least twice.  Tachyon must become incapacitated, and Progeny must be defeated on Tachyon's turn.

OK team, I got a double unlock on Bunker and Tachyon just now. No sense in talking Bunker, but here's what I did with Tachyon:

- Double skip for a long time (thanks, Hour of Reckoning / Hostage Situation) to build cards.

- Got out Research Grant at the first opportunity to help build cards. Ended up using its power a few times.

- Get out HUD Goggles and Pushing the Limits when the game was nearing completion and I had only 2 cards left in deck. I took a total of two hits from Pushing the Limits.

- Played 10 one-shots on one turn including 3x FOF, 3x Lightspeed Barrage, 2x Lightning Reflexes, 1x Nimble Strike... and I honestly forget what the 10th one was, but I think it was another Nimble Strike. Then I used Research Grant the same turn. This triggered one deck shuffle.

- Incapacitated Tachyon immediately on Wraith's turn (the next character) by using Throwing Knives, which also finished off Progeny, and got the unlock.

The rest of the match, all Tachyon did was discard cards to help destroy environment nasties.

No unlock.

Played Lightspeed Barrage 2-3 times

I think I played 5 cards in one turn
Redirected damage to Progeny 3 times with Synaptic Interruption; 2 were from Progeny, one was AZ. I did this because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to do the following:

Progeny incapped Tachyon while Time of Tribulation was out

Tachyon never dealt Sonic damage to Progeny, but she did to herself with PTL.

Progeny was defeated on Tachyon’s turn, having AZ play Frostbound Drain.

I’m not sure what I missed.

Okay, I'm seeing that sonic damage is a game killer...

The Freedom Five (no variants) must defeat Progeny in Megalopolis.  Tachyon must play at least five cards in a single turn and reshuffle her trash into her deck at least twice, but deal no sonic damage to Progeny.  Tachyon must become incapacitated, and Progeny must be defeated on Tachyon's turn.

Ok, went through the 2 success logs I have here and in both instances the following was true:

1. Tachyon played at least 10 cards in a single turn.

2. Tachyon did no Sonic damage to Progeny.

3. Tachyon reshuffled her deck at least twice.

4. Tachyon was incapcitated

5. The Vanilla Freedom Five was used

6. Both were in Megaloplis (which I think we've all figured out is going to be a requirement for all the FV unlocks).

7. Both were victorys (which I think we've all figured out is going to be a requirement for all the FV unlocks).

So here are the conditions I'm assuming right now:

1. Meet the pre-req games.

2. Win against Progeny in Megaloplis with the Freedom Five (Standard)

3. Tachyon must be incapactitated

4. Tachyon can not deal sonic damage to Progeny

5. Tachyon must reshuffle her trash at least twice

6. Tachyon must play at least 10 cards in a single turn.

Things to test:

1. Can Tachyon deal Sonic damage to Progeny?

2. Is a reshuffle required and if so how many times? (this seems to go against what you would do in a normal game though)

3. Can Tachyon play less than 10 cards in a single turn?

4. Can Tachyon still be standing at the end? This one I doubt because of the story, but it may not require an incap.

Well, I failed, but this game's a doozy...

Met the pre-req games.

Defeated progeny with the base Freedom Five.

Tachyon never went down.

Tachyon dealt no sonic damage to progeny (but some to herself).

Tachyon spent an entire turn at the end with hud goggles and PtL in play from the beginning of the turn playing lightning reflexes into fleet of feet into quick insight in order to reshuffle her deck and play the same cards for as long as I physically could.

Lost track of how many reshuffles that was and how many card plays that was on that turn alone. Reshuffled once before that turn.

No Unlock.

This game was... probably my favorite actually. By all means, here's the data.

Judging by this, assuming we're on the right track, you may be right about Tachyon needing to fall. An alternative is that there's a limit to the amount of sonic damage she can deal herself.

Is dealing Sonic damage ok? Do you need to shuffle the deck?

I’m guessing “play 10 cards in one turn” and “get killed, then win” are conditions. But the others are up in the air. I’ll try doing it with Sonic damage, and not intentionally TRYING to shuffle, but not avoiding it either.

Ok. You CAN deal Sonic damage. You also don’t need to shuffle twice. I did once, but who knows if you need to. I also died with Burst cards in my trash, and some have not, so that’s not important.

I’d guess it’s as follows:

Do the prerequisites.
Then win against Progeny at Megalopolis with Vanilla FF.
Tachyon must play at least 10 cards in one turn, and must be incapacitated.

NI

Judging by the fact every unlock so far had the trash shuffle at least once, I’d revise that to be:

  1. Meet pre-reqs
2 must be freedom five non variants vs progeny in Megalopolis and must be a victory
  2. Tachyon must be uncapped
  3. Tachyon must play 10 cards or more in one turn
  4. Tachyon must shuffle her trash at least once.
MC
McBehrer
2017-12-03 01:51 UTC

I’d say it’s one of those two.

That being said, it could be that the shuffling is a side effect of waiting until you can pull off the 10-card combo. (Also, 3 if the cards in the combo MAKE you draw cards.) So whether it’s required, or an unintended side effect, is in need of further testing.

I had a fail (log above–still need to remove the undo’s) in which I had Tachyon performed the mega-turn and was incapped but did not get the unlock. If the reason wasn’t the sonic damage, it might be the lack of reshuffling.

The community has discovered the official unlock condition for Freedom Five Tachyon!

First, play the Prerequisite Games. Then, the Freedom Five (non-variant team members) must defeat Progeny in Megalopolis. During that game, Tachyon must play at least 10 cards in one turn. Tachyon must run out of cards in her deck and thus shuffle her trash into her deck at least once. Tachyon must be incapacitated.

The Prerequisite Games are: First, the Prime Wardens (all variant members) must be defeated by Progeny anywhere other than Rook City or Megalopolis. Then, Dark Watch (all variant members) must by defeated by Progeny in Rook City. Then, the Freedom Five (non-variant members) must be defeated by Progeny in Rook City.

I am playing on my phone (galaxy s7) and don’t know how to retrieve them. I was trying to keep notes as I played though and had googles and pushing in play then played 3x fleet of foot, 2x lightning reflexes then 3x lightspeed barrage, and 2x nimble strike. On the 1st nimble strike my library reshuffled.

Next hero up was AZ. He incapacitated Tachyon and then took out Progeny. No unlock.

I have unlocked her sense just by cycling her deck and then doing the 10 card turn and then incapacitating her. I think there is a timing issue where I did things all at the same time.

The current working theory is that the final condition involves how many cards she draws in a game. The minimum so far in the logs has been 32.

So, if you have an unlock to burn I would:
Turn off automatic card draw
Restart the game until The Wraith has at least 2 trust funds in hand
Play through an entire game where The Wraith only draws 15 cards, if that fails 20, if that fails 25…and so on.

There's something more than that.

In my game where I unlocked FVB & FVT, the Wraith had Smoke Bombs, played at least three Trust Funds, and drew so much that, even wiht heavy discarding, she only had 2 cards in her deck & Trash combined at the end.

Every log I’ve been through leads me to believe, after elimanating Eyepiece and Intervention as just duh plays we’d all do anyway, that it is only 3 Trust Funds, Smoke Bomb, and the number of card draws done by Wraith (which still hasn’t been nailed down).
Anyone who doesn’t get the unlock for Wraith after playing 3 Trust Funds, a Smoke Bomb, and drawing 30+ cards (lowest I’ve counted in the logs) more than likely didn’t follow the pre-reqs to the letter OR is using a team other than the Vanilla Freedom Five, all 5 of them, in a location that isn’t Megaloplis.

Edit: Nevermind.

Maybe this conversation should move over to the Wraith thread?

I got her unlocked, don’t know how, I had just unlocked bunker and scrolled over tachyon and she was there, F5. I can say that she didn’t get incapped. Everything else is unsure as I was focusing on bunker.

@migrantp I did this. All non-variants, her deck shuffled. After I shuffled her deck, I played 10 cards. I played

1) HUD Goggles

2) Pushing the Limits

3) Fleet of Foot

4) Fleet of Foot

5) Fleet of Foot

6) Lightning Reflexes

7) Lightning Reflexes

8) Hypersonic Assault

9) Blinding Speed, destroying her own Pushing the Limits

10) Pushing the Limits

It stopped letting me play cards after 10 (not 100% sure, but I think that is a bug - I think there should be another card play after that since a new version of Pushing the Limits was put into play). She was incapacitated several turns later, and then I defeated Progeny.

No unlock.

I was pretty deliberate about this, so I am as close to 100% certain as I can be about meeting the requirements. I have unlocked F5 Wraith and Bunker, so I know I did the pre-reqs right. It was on iOS, but it was the very last game played, so if there is a way to get you the log (dev console, XCode linkup, whatever) I can do that if you like.

ETA: Because I may not have been super clear - I reshuffled BEFORE I did the 10 card play, and she was incapacitated several full rounds later, if I am remembering 100% correctly. Might have been 1 full round later, but I know she got at least one more turn after that.

Do you have a game log by any chance?  Also, it’s best to send feedback through the app on the credits screen or http://handelabra.com/contact/

Please report bugs as mentioned by Powerhound_2000, including as much information as possible (screenshots, etc). Are you sure the lock icon was visible on F5 Tachyon before starting the game?

As sure as I can be - I had checked for it last week, and had restarted the app after AZ became available Tuesday night.

I will send feedback now - thanks for that. I had forgotten about the feedback screen in the app.

If there is a way to get the log from iOS I am not aware of it.

Looking through the logs via XCode, I only see crash logs available. There might be a way to get to the "real" logs (if they are stored) but I can't see a way to do it. I could try to reproduce on Steam later this week if I have time.

There is a bug in the Freedom Five Tachyon unlock condition where it will not count a reshuffle if it was caused by Tachyon discarding from her empty deck. This will be fixed in the next update. As a workaround, make sure to reshuffle by drawing a card from her empty deck.

Was the bug ever fixed?  I spent hours getting the unlock conditions for 4 out of the 5 freedom five heros and in the end, I got nothing.  I did the prereqs right before I tried too so it cant be that.

Prereq games:

5 prime wardens in atlantis lost to progeny

4 dark watch in rook city lost to progeny

5 baseline freedom five variants in rook city lost to progeny.

Then I played the base freedom five in megalopolis against progeny

I even went through my log and It looks like i did meet all the conditions for tachyon (easiest way to find the move is to search for the 2 played lightning reflexes). In fact,  I did the 10 card sequence twice just to be sure.

I did do the prereqs in ultimate mode so I'm going to try to do it again in regular to see if it makes.a difference. Is it that you can't do 4 at a time? (I was trying for five but absolute zero died before I was able to get progeny into a controlled loop,)  is there a way to verify you have prereqs?

EDIT: oh and also I had the ARG event thing pop up with an image that had a modified image of the mega computer card with the word intervene in different colors pop up during the fight.   So not sure if that could interfere

Based off that log, assuming the prereqs were done, it should’ve resulted in an unlock and that bug may still exist.  I’ll test this out later myself.

I redid the same prereq fights as standards instead of ultimates and avoided triggering the intervene thing by not playing 3 mega computers and I got a 5 person unlock this time.  Not sure if either was the cause or if it was the shuffle bug tho because I made sure to not start the 10 card sequence until she had already reshuffled.
