Am I missing something, or is Bugbear not damaging himself from Blood Scent at the start of his turn if it's in his play area? In most situations, this would not change much, as he would then gain as much HP as damage he dealt. However, this does make a difference when regaining HP is affected, with cards like Phosphorecent Chamber, Unhallowed Halls, or Oprressive Smog. Regardless of the result, we should still see Bugbear attacking himself, as that is the rules as written on the cards.
Blood Scent says:
At the start of Bugbear's turn, Bugbear deals the target next to this card 3 melee damage unless one player discards 2 cards.
Then, move this card to Bugbear's play area.
‘In Bugbearas play area’ is different from ‘next to Bugbear’.

Bugbear isn't a target next to the card - it's just in his play area.

I always played it that way before seeing how it worked on the digital game, which makes sense given the reasons stated above.
It's still funny to watch him hunt himself at the start of the game, though, even if he heals it right back.

Oh good, glad to hear I'm not the only one who didn't get it. I guess my first game against him was on easy mode, as we were in Unhallowed Halls and he kept biting himself.

Wait, he WAS biting himself? I thought the “bug” was that carnilius thought he was supposed to, but he wasn’t?

Yes, I was incorrect. I was talking about my first game against him using the cards.
