Big thanks to mistdrake for pointing this out and actually coming up with this idea, this wasn't on me at all -

PA Captain Cosmic, Guise, Rouge K.N.Y.F.E, and The Sentinals vs Heroic Infinitor

Field's full of Manifestations and we're all running low on health.  Infinitor's got about 8 HP left and we're getting worried.  The Sentinals get their turn and I play Blackout - allowing the Writhe to hit someone for damage, who then can hit everyone for Infernal.

Mistdrake stops me and tells me to hit Infinitor.

I ask, "Why?"

They do the math and say that Infinitor will hit every one of his manifestations and I laugh it off, but follow their logic anyway.

Few seconds later we're both sitting in front of a success screen, with Infinitor having won by dealing all his manifestations - thereby killing them - with infernal damage.

So lesson learned, you can punch Infinitor and still win.

It's one of the stupidest things I have ever heard of and it's very, very alarming and I'm sure Nigel doesn't deserve it at all but hey if you lose your paitence with him

there's that.

Even if this was discovered before this still has me laughing because I didn't know it worked this way and I'm giggling.

Poor Infinitor.

Welcome to the forums!

Yea, sometimes hitting a hero, or putting something on a hero, might be the best option. For example, Compulsion Cannister on Fixer with Jack Handle can be fun.

All the time! I have never had issues hitting an ally, myself, or the bastard Sheriff Pratt that deserves to rot on the war torn Dok'Thorath. A victory is still a victory, no matter what morales must be sacrificed.

Hitting your allies shouldn't always be the first strategy you go to, despite what SOME PEOPLE will say. But with careful planning and concent, sometimes hitting an ally can result in them producing a better effect.

And I have done some truly ridiculous things while roasting Absolute Zero. Friendly Fire is not solely Setback’s purview.

Also fun: Get Hippocratic Oath out and have Writhe hit Dr. Medico. If you have a large field of villain targets, that could amount to massive healing.

Blackout in general is great on heroes that have a lot of general (not damage-type specific) damage bonuses. You trade one a single hit to that hero for hits to all the non-hero targets - its like a general-purpose version of Bunker's External Combustion.  Setback (High Risk Behaviour), Chrono-Ranger (Hunter and Hunted), Mr. Fixer (Bloody Knuckles, Styles and Tools) and Termi-Nation Absolute Zero (Shivers) can have big boosts to damage dealt (and received, so be careful - they have to survive the hit!).  Argent Adept can also boost damage,  and more globally Legacy and Ra.

Mr. Fixer also has bonuses from style (Grease Monkey Fist)/tool (Wrench or Dual for +1 damage, or Hoist to reduce enemy damage)/harmony (+1)

Note that if you have Twist the Ether on the hero you can manipulate the outgoing damage type and increase damage as well.

The only caveat is that Writhe has to actually deal damage,  so while you could mitigate some of the damage, you also need to be sure you do at least 1 point of damage otherwise the area hit won't happen. Also,  you must attack all the non-hero targets,  so if you're trying to not explode an explosives wagon or keep around a non-hero target you need to be careful.

Double fun: do the healing explosion with Hippocratic Oath, but also have The Scholar out there, and maybe Guise with I’m That Guy. Massive healing, AND massive damage!

If you're ever in the neighborhood and someone's pulling off a 30 damage combo with the Argent Adept while you're using Absolute Zero, send them a tip to boost the damage through AZ as a conduit. It can yield much better results in the long term.

Absolute Zero is a great damage booster for anyone who's dealing fire. So long as he's got the HP, that is...

(And then he can double up on it with Coolant Blast!)

How does that Blackout trick work with Mr. Fixer and either the Dual Crowbars or the Jack Handle?

Ex 1: Say there are 5 non-hero targets, and Fixer has the Jack Handle out.  Writhe targets Fixer with Blackout.  By the terms of Blackout, Fixer would now deal 2 Infernal damage to each non-hero target.  But Jack Handle means that every time Fixer inflicts damage, he inflicts it on all non-hero targets.  Does that mean that Fixer now gets 5 attacks on all non-hero targets?

Ex: 2:  Again 5 non-hero targets out there, but this time Fixer has the Dual Crowbars.  Writhe again targets Fixer with Blackout.  Does that mean that Fixer gets 5 "initial" hits via Blackout, and 5 follow-up hits with the Dual Crowbars?

He hits all the targets once then get one additional attack due to Dual Crowbars.

Why only one extra attack?  Dual Crowbars says that "Whenever Mr. Fixer deals damage, he may deal that damage to 1 other target as well."  Similar language on Jack Handle ("Whenever Mr. Fixer would deal damage to a target, he deals that much damage to all non-hero targets.") If there are (ex:) 5 non-hero targets when Blackout is played, Fixer is "dealing damage" to each one of them with Blackout, isn't he?

Because of Fireside chats

When Dual Crowbars and Jack Handle are in play at the same time and Mr. Fixer deals damage, the following occurs. Mr. Fixer deals the damage to all non-hero targets (due to Jack Handle). Then once that is fully resolved, Dual Crowbars takes effect based on the damage dealt to the first target. That damage is dealt to all non-hero targets (due to Jack Handle).

But the question wasn't referring to having the Crowbars and Jack Handle out at the same time, it was asking what happens when either tool is out by itself and Fixer gets hit with Blackout.

Theoretically, would it be possible(with fixed point) to knock fanatic so far into the negatives that she could just start one shotting some of the tougher villians with wrathful retribution?

This has saved me several times against Voss and Akash. It is such a wierd and broken mechanic, but absolutely amazing. Reminds me of Fixer with Jack Handle and Plague Infection.
