I just unlocked Hunted Naturalist, and had a question about his base power. The card reads in pertinent part:
"Select [Croc], [Gazelle], or [Rhino]. Until the end of your next turn, you may activate that icon's effects."
So if The Naturalist is in (ex:) Croc form, and uses his power to "activate" (ex:) Gazelle Form, that means until the end of his next turn, he can activate *both* Croc and Gazelle's effects, or either/or? For example, if I played Primal Charge, would he both draw 4 cards (Gazelle) and deal a target 3 DMG (Croc), or would he have to choose from one of those effects?
As I read the text of Hunted Naturalist's base power, I tend to think he can do both: The text of his base power does not say "...you may ONLY activate that icon's effects...", and none of the cards with animal-form effects have any language saying "only one of the effects below," or anything similar. And this would seem to be in keeping with the "story" behind the variant, which is that Naturalist is losing control of his transformations, and is close to becoming some sort of strange hybrid Croco-Gazelle-Rhino.
Are there any official rulings to the contrary?

It's both. Heck, if you get a card out and/or get out-of-turn power uses, it's possible to have all three icons activate with Primal Rush or Natural Form's Power.
If you'll excuse the pun, Hunted Naturalist is a beast when he can get at least one Form card out.

He would get to use any effects corresponding to his active forms. So if one turn you play the Crocodile form and use the base power to select Gazelle, and then on the next turn you play Primal Charge, you get to activate both the Crocodile and Gazelle effects.

Note that when using multiple effects, they occur in the order printed on the card, top to bottom (typically Gazelle/Rhino/Croc).

Yes. The Naturalist can become the dreaded Rhinodilezelle!

I usually just call it "Chimera Mode" whenever I manage to do that. Though I'm a bit more partial to base Naturalist, and to get all forms out I have to play Time Cataclysm and wait for Fixed Point. But when it happens, it's tons 'o fun.

I'm partial to "Turducken Naturalist," myself.

Our title for him is “platipus form”.

Who or what is "Turducken"?

I believe it's a chicken stuffed into a duck, which is then stuffed into a turkey, which is then all cooked. That's an actual thing some people eat, from what I know.

Platypus or Turducken, how ever you want to spell it, it's outstanding. I played him in a couple of matches yesterday, and I think I prefer him to Base Naturalist. In base Naturalist, it seems that sometimes you get "stuck" in a Form -- tanking in Rhino, for example -- and want to occasionally want to get in a Crocodile attack, or use Gazelle to draw cards/get rid of Ongoings/deck control, but don't want to lose Rhino's benefits. Hunted Naturalist totally solves that problem. It takes a few card draws to get him going, but between Shifter's Strength, Primal Charge (Gazelle) and Natural Form Power (Gazelle), he has massive card draw, and can hunt up (no pun intended) the cards he needs in no time.
The results when I first "platypused" him were mind-boggling. How many other heroes can in *one* turn (here via Bestial Shift/Natural Form's Power/Natural Born Vigor): (a) heal themselves 5 HP; (b) draw two extra cards (or let another hero do so); (c) get an extra card play; (d) play three powers; (c) give themselves -1 DR; and (d) deal 3 toxic damage, 3 melee damage, and (x2) 1 toxic damage? If you combine him with AA, PW Fanatic or Parse for even more extra power uses, it's ridiculous. I played a game against Dawn in Insula Primalis and just tore her down, particularly when the Obsidian Fields started popping up. THN may be my new favorite hero. If he only had some enviroment destruction, he'd be perfect (...but of course, he then wouldn't be "The Naturalist," would he?)
I've had Turducken once when a local restaurant was serving a fancy version for Thanksgiving. It's surprisingly good.
It's a deboned turkey wrapped around a deboned duck wrapped around a deboned chicken, with layers of stuffing inbetween the fowls. The whole assembly is then tied and roasted, then cut like a loaf so each slice gets part of each type of meat.
[I suspect the Naturalist would disapprove - or then again, maybe not]

Ah okay, so it's basically a kind of three-bird-roast thingy. I had been trying to work out whether the word was a combo of three different words or some kind of non-English word (I thought it looked vaguely German or something) whilst not being able to unsee the "turd" at the start of it :D.
On-topic, the Naturalist is possibly my second-favourite (or joint second-favourite, alongside Jim) hero. So many things you can do and he pretty much maps to a Fantasy character (shapeshifting Druidy type) in the same way the Adept does, so yeah. Good stuff :D.
