A few days ago, in the "Arena Champions" thread (https://greaterthangames.com/forum/topic/challenge-arena-champions-8877), Nepycros posted the following strategy that he (she?) used to accumulate ridiculous amounts of Favor against Kaargra Warfang, with a team of (in order) Grandpa Legacy, Dark Visionary, Argent Adept, and Wraith:

I experimented with the technique against Kaargra, and without even trying very hard, won 54-7.  It then struck me that this technique could be nigh-unbeatable (absent really bad card draws) against just about any villain.  I tried it against Advanced Progeny (one of my bete-noirs from another thread), and neutered him in two rounds.  Granted, I had some really good draws, but once you get the loop going in which the villain can't draw or deal damage (thanks to a profusion of Stun Bolts), the environment damage is neutered, and Dark Visionary is getting rid of any problematic environment cards that could kill your strategy, I'm not sure any villain can get out of it.  I'm thinking about trying it next against Advanced Chairman in Rook City.  If I can kill him there with no trouble, this might be the unbeatable team/loop.   Thoughts?

That’s a very solid team but definitely not unbeatable. Try advanced Dreamer, Iron Legacy and Agent of Gloom Spite. I bet they all give you a good run for your money.

Have you tried the team against Miss Information or Dreamer yet?

Omnitron-X can use his base power to just put the top card of Legacy's deck into play. That gets around environments that prevent you from playing/drawing cards. There is no way I can think of to stop Paparazzi on the Scene, so that will break the loop for a turn. Any environment that does more than 3 damage (Krackens) will still deal some kind of damage. If I recall right, Nepycros did this in Final Wasteland for this exact reason. And as always, add Team Leader Tachyon to get the setup faster.

Apostate and Voss deal multiple damage types at the end of their turn, so that has to be managed until Visionary draws Twist The Ether. Omnitron can still put cards from his trash into play, if he's played cards before the lock started. Visionary can just Suggest those cards back into the deck.
The Chairman, The Dreamer, Kaargra Warfang, and Miss Information technically can't be beaten immediately with this combo. The Chairman can if O-X is given extra powers to Timeshift Chairman's cards into the trash, thus flipping him eventually. Similar idea with Kaargra- Timeshift gladiators into play and have Wraith hit them for favor. The Dreamer and Miss Information can be beaten by using this method to floodgate them- for Dreamer, let her flip and then don't use this combo for a turn to allow her to play some projections. For Miss Information, let her play clue cards to flip, then lock her down.

No joy on Advanced Chairman.  Tried three times, just couldn't get out Take Down and Visionary's Mental Divergence quick enough before there were a host of underbosses/thugs out, and this crew doesn't do enough damage soon enough to keep up.  Not even particularly bad draws...except that Take Down and/or Mental Divergence were just hiding too far down in the deck.

Also keep in mind that Take Down doesn't prevent the Operative from putting Underbosses into play so even if you had gotten that you'd still have to deal with them for a bit.

Yeah, I was counting on enough DR from Legacy to offset the damage from the underbosses and thugs to stave things off until I got the combo going.  I just never got the combo going.

Two words: Brain Burn

Brain Burn does not help with the Operative pulling out Underbosses.   Brain Burn only helps with the Thugs.

Yeah, but if you can Brain Burn the Thugs, then pulling out Underbosses isn't that big of a deal.  The only two Underbosses that can do anything without Thugs to pull out of the trash are Contract and Muscle.

On my fourth try, I got lucky and Brain Burned Chairman on the first round.  After that, it took a little while to get the Take Down/Mental Divergence combo out, but there wasn't much Chairman could do to hurt me in the meantime.  Once the combo was out, I killed the Underbosses, then Chairman and Operative, at my leisure.  It took a little while because Wraith was the only one really doing damage, but once the combo was out, it was simply a matter of time and patience; there was nothing Chairman or the environment could really do to prevent it at that point.

It helps a lot for sure but it's not a guarantee of anything.   Except for the Deputy they all have a passive affect that means you still need to take them out.

Tried it against Iron Legacy.  Had a bad draw the first go-round, but on the second, I got a different Ongoing loop going with Heroic Interception.  Visionary kept churning Heroic Interception from Legacy's deck, AA allowed Legacy to (a) use Next Evolution out of turn to become immune to Melee damage and (b) play Heroic Interception.  Since Iron Legacy mostly does melee damage, the heroes were largely immune to damage, and pounded Iron Legacy down.
