I've been trying to play some games in the Temple of Zhu Long, and I'm curious as to how Rites of Renewal works. Is it:
(a) If the heroes discard X cards in a *single* round, they can resurrect a fallen hero at the end of the environment turn; OR
(b) The heroes discard any number of cards they want every turn; once the total number of cards discarded over the course of the game reaches X, they can resurrect a fallen comrade at the end of the next environment turn.
I didn't want to go about discarding cards until I was sure how it worked.

I'm going to confidently say the answer is A. The card reads "At the end of the environment turn," which states the time in which the condition must be met.
At the end of the Environment turn, each player may discard any number of cards. If (H) plus 2 cards are discarded this way, flip an incapacitated Hero character card, restore it to 8 HP, and that Hero's player shuffles their cards into their deck and draws 2 cards.
The "discarded this way" phrase also leads me to believe that the revival happens when that condition is met during the end of the environment turn. This can be easily tested in the video game.

Furthermore, if it was B, that would imply that once you hit the X cards once, it would activate every turn with no addtional discards, which is clearly unreasonable.

I just realized how good Rites of Revival is with Setting Sun Ra.

Not very?
Hmmmm. Do you get your removed from the game cards back if revived? Does this differ if cards are removed after you are incapped ala Requital Captain Cosmic?

My line of thinking is:
-Hero gets incapped
-Hero's cards are removed from the game
-Rites of Revival "shuffles their cards into their deck," ignoring the fact that they are removed from the game
-???
-Profit
At least, that's how I see it playing out.

If the hero card is removed in the case of Ra he can't come back.

Yeah, the character card. We are speculating on what happens to the "regular" cards from their decks that are removed by game effects.

Yeah, I was referring to Ra's deck cards, not his character card. Rites of Revival even says to flip an incapacitated hero, which obviously can't be done if Ra is removed from the game.

I would have thought that anything that is "removed from the game" is just that - it is no longer part of the game, it is considered not to exist so can't be shuffled back into a deck because the game can't "see" it any more.

Aren't all cards removed from the game once a hero enters the Incapacitated state? At least that's what the definition of Incapacitated says in the rules. So for Revival to work it has to bring them back into the game...

You still have a deck of cards they just aren't in play anymore. Regardless, it would make Rites of Revival pretty worthless if you can't get the hero deck back into play. Maybe it should have been worded differently but we know that the deck comes back per the video game. In regards to Requital Capitan Cosmic I'd say the deck under his incap card would get shuffled with this other cards along with any in play due to those abilities.

From the last sentence of the very last paragraph of the latest fireside chats:
"Suppose Sky-Scraper is incapacitated and has used the “become a target” incapacitated ability. If she is revived using Rites of Revival, the 1 HP indestructible target status is wiped, and she is her regular self at 8 HP with a 33 HP max and is fully destructible. Rites of Revival essentially resets the character, starting anew."
To me that means everything that the entire deck is restored as if the character was starting over. Full 40 cards regardless of where they may have been right before Revival activated.

That's why I stated any cards in play from Requital Captain Cosmic's incap abilities would get shuffled in.

Yes, I posed this argument initially, which leads me to believe that if Setting Sun Ra were to remove half his deck to use his power over the course of the game, he would be able to start with a fresh deck when revived. Makes for interesting in-game storytelling!

I'd agree as long as Setting Sun Ra didn't remove his hero character card then anything he removed due to his base power would come back.
