Trouble with Shinobi Assassins

Had an odd bug happen, was wondering if anyone else had it happen to them.

In a match in the Temple of Zhu Long, Argent Adept ended up with a Shinobi Assassin on top of his deck. I played an Instrumental Conjuration to search the deck for an instrument, at which point the deck should have shuffled. However, it did not.

Odd thing was, the next turn I played another Instrumental Conjuration, and this time the deck did shuffle. It was odd, and I can't think of any reason why the deck shouldn't have shuffled the first time.

Anyone else run into this?

I haven't.  Do you have the game log by any chance?   There is an off chance that after the shuffle and draw that the Assassin is still on top.  

Yeah, there’s a 1/(however many cards are in your deck) chance that it just ended up on top. It does it with Ambuscade’s traps sometimes, too.
I’d say not a bug, just bad luck.

Are you sure you didn't search your trash for the instrument instead?

Also a possibility. It only shuffles if you search your deck.

Ah, I play on a Nook, so I’m not sure I could access the log if I wanted to.

But I know something was off here. I didnt hear the shuffle sound after searching the deck. And I rewound to replay the card several times and had the same result multiple times in a row; I’m assuming the shuffle shouldn’t have put the same card on top again and again.

And yes, the rewinding made sure I could verify I was searching the deck.

It might just be a one off, given that it disn’t repeat in the same match, but I wanted to see if there was something maybe I missed.

Shuffles will always shuffle the same way if done at the same time.  Rewinding resets the RNG seed to ensure the same shuffle comes out.  That way, you can't cheat by repeatably rewinding until you get a good shuffle.

Now, if you were taking out a different instrument each time, that would cause different shuffles.  If it was the same one, you will always get the same shuffle, though.

Are we sure that the shuffle occurs before the card is drawn? I've also noticed that the deck appears to be shuffled after the draw, which will always draw the Shinobi.

Per the card, a shuffle is supposed to occur before a draw if the Instrument was searched for in the deck.  As to confirm whether the game handled it that in this specific case we would need a log but I'm not sure how you'd get that from a Nook.   Also, if another game has been played since then we won't have a log anymore.   The only piece I can recommend is that if it's seen in the future click on credits on the main screen and click Submit feedback this should send the log file for Handelbra to review.  

I’ve done this exact thing before, and it has always shuffled before drawing.

I had basically this same thing happen during the weekly one shot.  I put a Shinobi on top of Fixer's deck and then used Meditation to search his deck and shuffle it.  Then on my draw phase I drew the Shinobi.  Since the draw was on my draw phase instead of from the card as with the Instrumental Conjuration example, the shuffle clearly had to happen first.  So either something causes the Shinobi to stay on top of the deck (whether intentional or a bug) or I just got unlucky with the shuffle.

You don't happen to have a log of that game, do you? Since it's a fixed start one-shot, anyone would be able to replicate your actions and we could see whether it's an unlucky shuffle or not. You could even rewind to select a different style and see whether that affects the shuffle.

Sorry, I don't know how to get game logs.  That's a good idea though.
