"Haka could really let loose against the mountainous form of the destructive nature spirit"

Haka destroys a "Mountainous Carapace" in one shot?

Meh, the Captain Cosmic unlock didn't really have anything to do with his new Prime Warden story or his mechanic, so I'm not sure that line of reasoning is helpful.

I tried 25+ damage kill shots against Mountainous Carapace and Akash'Bhuta, no dice either time.

Tried preventing two rounds of Pterodactyl damage with Enduring Intercession, that didn't do it either. Figured I'd try the card I never, ever, use.

Yeah, I was wondering about Enduring Intercession, too.  Could easily involve redirecting a whole mess of environment damage to Haka, like 20+.  Have to work hard keeping him alive from all that, though.  I think I'm going to try just stocking him up on cards the whole battle like crazy, having him never do any damage, then cut loose with a 100+ damage shot, all the while trying to keep him protected and healthy while he redirects damage to himself.  Should be "fun."

Enduring Intercession is actually really good situationally. If you can get Ta Moko + 1 extra DR, it prevents all the damage from Dok’Thorath except Orbital Bombardment.

I had haka redirect ~10 damage to himself during this last game where I unlocked PW Cosmic, for what it’s worth.

Tried using Argent Adept to let Haka play each "Haka" card in one turn. No unlock.

During my Captain Cosmic unlock attempt, I did have a ton of damage being absorbed from the environment using Enduring Intercession. No unlock.

Well, it wasn’t an 82-point Savage Mana against a fully healthy Ambuscade with a fully healthy party. I also used all three “Haka” cards. I also did a whole heck of a lot of Enduring Intercession redirecting, although the bulk of it was reduced to zero. Too bad I already unlocked Captain Cosmic, as that battle definitely would have done it. At least I got my Flawless achievement.

It’s also not “have all of Haka’s ongoings and equipment in play (including Ground Pound) and play all three of the Haka cards in one turn.”

37 cards under Savage Mana and hitting Ambuscade for that plus a 29-point Haka of Battle, nemesis bonus, and Punish the Weak didn’t do it. All his other permanents were in play except Ground Pound. Team was the Prime Wardens.

Following the logic of PW:CC featured in Abject Refugees from Dok'thorath Capital and the tie to Energy Bracer being from Thorathian War One-Shot.

Augmented Ally features PW:H, and is a quote from Prime Wardens #30 as he punches out The Hippo, "I am used to fighting with you [Argent Adept], my friend, but not with me as well!" -Haka.

It's actually hard to say when Haka got his PW costume, and you can only use the same storyline as reference points 'timewise', so....
Captain Cosmic shows traditional CC in PW #21 (Harsh Offense)
Chokepoint shows traditional Argent Adept in PW #24 (Ireful Grasp)
Chokepoint shows PW CC in PW #25 (Augmented Energy Field)
The Ennead shows traditional Tempest in PW #29 (Death's Grasp)
As stated, we see Haka in PW:H in PW #30 (CC's Augmented Ally)
Progeny shows up AA's traditional costume in PW #37 (presumably in #36, too, per Scion of Flame)
CC shows AA as PW:AA in PW #39 (Dynamic Syphon)
CC shows Fanatic as PW:F in PW #41 (Cosmic Weapon)

Whatever. Looking forward from when Haka was seen in it (PW #30): On that mentioned Scion of Flame: "It stands, waiting, a challenge. We should be prepared for the worst, my friends." -Haka, Prime Wardens #36. Which further happens in PW #37, judging by the AA quote about being unable to hold it back much longer, and through all the way to Prime Wardens #40, where Form of the Harbinger shows up. "It shifts through forms without purpose or focus. It reeks of chaos and malice." - Fanatic

Not sure what to make of all this. Hmm. But maybe we can find some costume change clue in there, if they're designing consistently with PW:CC at all.

Best guess, using the clue of "Haka could really let loose against the mountainous form of the destructive nature spirit", he could... use Augmented Ally or some other method of using two powers on Haka's turn, to destroy two limbs, maybe?

No idea.

I think a specific villain, environment, or team is required:

No unlock after a game where I played every card in Haka's deck, ended the game with every ongoing/equipment in play, and discarded 15 cards for each "Haka" card. I used every power except the 2 that say "Destroy this card."

its not JUST (more may be involved)

-have 3 dominions and savage mana in play (with all targets from Final Wasteland underneath it)

- discard your entire hand to a haka of battle

- use savage mana and draw your entire deck (due to dominion and final wasteland)

I've been trying a few thing in the Arena. No unlock yet. We know that Tempest (specifically PW Tempest), Haka, and the AA were all in the arena at some point. So far, it's not:

win with the PW AA, PW CC, Redeemer Fanatic, Haka, and PW Tempest.

Have Haka gain "The Unbreakable"

will try to win with Haka in lead position.

In one game I discarded Haka’s entire deck to a Haka of Battle to finish off a villain… incredibly satisfying, but not successful in unlocking.

Doing over 100 damage in general also doesn’t do anything. (I think it was something like 112 before he was incapped.) Nor does having all three copies of Enduring Intersession out, or using all of Haka’s weapons including Savage Mana and his base power in a single turn.

According to the Steam Achievement Global Statistics page, 0% of people who own the game have the Haka (or Fanatic) achievement. 0.3% have Captain Cosmics's unlcok achievement. I am unsure of a way to check it out on Gamecenter (iOS).

Also, no one posted an image on twitter about the unlock to get the Hall of Fame glory.

this means that, somone does have it on iOS/Android/etc… and decided not to show off.

So, yes we are grasping at straws here.

Tried a game against Akash (Haka, PW AA, base versions of the other Wardens) where Haka was incapped so he could use his incapped "reduce damage by 2" ability.

Won against Akash. No unlock.

I'm thinking that this one is a multi-part unlock, with multiple steps or multiple hard-to-achieve conditions in a single fight.

Once again, I find myself wishing for a checkpoint alert- some sort of pop up that lets you know that you are on the right track and have done something that gets you one step closer.

I thought about trying that, but that would leave only 13 cards in her deck, 5 of which make her play an extra card, and 2 of which destroy H ongoings.  With her extra plays from the environment, she'll chew through ongoings at a tremendous rate, and it'll be extremely hard to keep Savage Mana in play.  So I'm going to file this under "so unlikely to occur during normal play that it's probably not it."

I think it has something to do with Ambuscade, in Megalopolis, with all other heroes incapped.

I'm currently working on healing and reducing damage via Haka cards. My theory storywise is that:

Ambuscade goes after Haka directly, who ignores him in favor of delicious cheeseburgers.

Ambuscade decides to start taking hostages and going after Haka's friends by setting traps and being a jerk.

Once they are all in peril, Ambuscade has Haka off balance, and then...

I've already tried defeating Ambuscade with Haka as the only Haka up in various ways and with various ongoings and environments out. So now I'm focusing on the Haka of Cheeseburgers aspect and seeing if I can spend a few rounds negating his damage and healing.

I've currently got a game going where Haka is the only hero standing. He is at full HP, with all of his ongoing cards out.

Villain: Ambuscade.

Environment: Megalopolis

other heroes: wraith, visionary, fanatic, bunker.

Thanks to their incap powers, I can play cards all the time, heal, and Bunker can return trash cards tO my hand to get exactly what I need.

So far I've tried:

absorbing damage from Ambuscade with Haka of shielding.

Healing with Haka of regeneration.

Having a banked Haka of shielding, having a banked Haka of battle, and then using Haka of regeneration.

Any suggestions while the game is in this state?

Got it on my iPhone.  I'll be trying the same fight later on steam to confirm.

ok, here's what I think is needed:

Ambuscade as villain.

Megalopolis as environment.

All other heroes incapped (might not be required)

defeat ambuscade.

Haka MUST be at full HP.

all ongoings in play (might not be required)

Haka must have Haka of Shielding active  (might not be required)

I would think that a screencap showing that you now have the variant unlocked on your hero-picking screen and the iOS achievement, er, achieved, would be sufficient, surely? Won't be able to give us any hints, but you'll at least get your due credit.

But I can at least say that beating Ambuscade in Megalopolis with one of everything out including Ground Pound and Haka at full HP, but nobody incapped and no Shielding up, didn't do anything for me.

I'm in the midst of doing a test without the Ongoings and Haka of Shielding, as it's pretty easy to test that, just have him Haka of Restoration to heal his HP before he finishes off Ambuscade for good with a Power.

After that, I'll add the Ongoings.  The only addition there will be to use Hero incap Powers to allow him to play Ground Pound and use a Power after Haka's turn.

All equipment in play.

All ongoings in play.

2 of my incap team (wraith and Fanatic) had "a hero regains 2 HP" as one of their incap powers, which made it a lot easier.

Incap team was: wraith, Visionary, Fanatic (base), Bunker. Visionary can destroy environment cards (and at 3 dominions, that gives Haka lots of cards).

My process was:

get Haka entirely set up. Use savage Mana to strip Ambuscade of most of his gadgets.

Once Haka had his entire deck in his hands, I did a massive regeneration, then incapped the rest of the team. As team members fell, I used their incap powers to keep Haka at nearly full HP, using Haka of shielding cards nearly every turn.  Bunker could use his incap power to either provide additional protection, or return a ground pound/Haka card to my hand.

Once the full team was incapped, and Haka was at full HP, I used everyone's "play a card" ability to shield Haka, then elbow smash Ambuscade for the win.

Hope that helps.

Sorry to double post, but somehow my edits fail to show up sometimes, so I thought I'd do the info we need next post.

We have hero teams out of the way, it seems unimportant (my other heroes were Guise, Grandpa Legacy and Chrono Ranger.

We probably should test Environment and Villain out, but assuming they are required, it seems the unlock condition may just be:

Unlock PW AA.  Regular Haka then defeats Ambuscade in Megalopolis while at 34 HP and with all other heroes incapacitated.

Hopefully we can get some more tests to confirm whether Ambuscade and Magalopolis are necessary or not.

I just got the unlock too, but I have nothing new to add: Ambuscade, Megalopolis, Haka at full HP, all other heroes incapped.  Team was Redeemer Fanatic, Wraith, Unity, Tempest, Haka.  Committed suicide on the final round and never used any incap abilities.  The tricky part was keeping Ambuscade alive long enough to set it up!

Others will have to test to see if the villain or environment can be varied.

Yeah, get out as many copies of Dominion as you can and attack with Mere every round (you can and probably should attack your allies).  Don't play cards that don't advance your cause--other than the above, Savage Mana, Vitality Surge, Ta Moko, and Haka cards were all I had him play.  If you have nothing else, you can have him play Haka of Shielding or Haka of Battle and discard zero cards (net gain +1 card).  Other heroes can reduce damage to him or help him draw cards.  Healing him mid-game is only moderately helpful, since it makes him the highest-HP hero, so he ends up taking more damage.  I got out two Stun Bolts and the Utility Belt on Wraith (no Micro-Targeting computer, so you don't kill Ambuscade early!), and Shielding Winds on Tempest, and at that point it was simple--I actually over-healed Haka for about 8 points in the last round.

I FINALLY got it.

Team was regular Tempest (his incap can make me immune to energy), and Fanatic's incap makes him play a card or regain 2 HP, and play HAKA of restoration is so much better. So, I used people's advice for 3 dominions, and then used my haka of battle on Tempest. I saved all my card draw to heal using Fanatic's incap, then I just savaged mana the crud out of him.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

At this point the Steam forum has, I think, proven pretty thoroughly that any combination of heroes works. People have done Prime Wardens teams, teams with no other Prime Wardens members, etc.

Right now I think the biggest question is which of Haka's ongoings, if any, are required to be in play. I kind of wonder if the full health thing is actually a requirement, too -- sometimes in these quests we end up replicating a method that's sufficient without testing thoroughly whether all components of it are actually necessary. Now that the broad strokes seem to be nailed down, I'm sure people will start trying variations and getting things nailed down precisely.

Looking at the Steam thread, meeting all other requirements but not having Haka at max HP did not seem to result in an unlock.  They also experimented with villain and environment, and it looks like Ambuscade is required, Megalopolis is not.  So I'm pretty confident it's:

Unlock Prime Warden Argent Adept.  Then defeat Ambuscade (in any anvironment) when Haka is at full health and all other heroes are incapacitated.

It's possible at this point that some subset of ongoings and/or equipment is required.  Every screenshot I've seen has Ta Moko and Savage Mana in play.  They might have Mere, also (some cards are covered by the unlock splash).  It's OK for Ambuscade to be killed by the environment.

Unlocked.

Haka, Tempest, Wraith, against Ambuscade at Megalopolis. Incapped Tempest and Wraith, then on Haka's turn used Restoration to heal to full and unleashed Savage Mana for the win.

Edit: I had all ongoings and equips except for Ground Pound and Enduring Intercession in play.

Well done! The official conditions for Prime Wardens Haka have been discovered by the community:

Prime Wardens Argent Adept must be unlocked. Then, defeat Ambuscade with regular Haka on the team. At the end of the game, Haka must the only active hero, and be at maximum HP.

Yay!

Incidentally, Legacy is quite useful to have to help the unlock.  He can redirect damage from Haka to himself.

Got the unlock. Recommend The Temple of Zhu Long... makes it easy to draw a huge hand for Haka of Restoration.

Just another recommendation to make the unlock easier....what I did was use CC and put 3 energy bracers on Haka, and then CC was the last person Haka killed before winning.  With Cosmic Crest in play, the bracers are even immune to some of Ambuscade's damage.

I used Grandpa Legacy to feed Haka HP and extra Mere uses and also Lead From The Front to prevent Ambuscade from going after Haka.

From zero to fully unlocked in less than a day? :O Amazing!

Now to actually do it... (I already tried and failed once. XD)

I used normal Fanatic, Setback, and Haka. In that order. Savage Mana helps.

Used Team Leader Tachyon,  Haka, Wraith,  Youngest Legacy.  There's plenty of damage mitigation and card drawing there.  You can put out the Mega Computers to help with environment damage,  and there's plenty of things (Throat Punch,  Hypersonic Assault,  Take Down,  Heroic Interception,  Ground Pound, and especially Lead from the Front) for Villain damage.  This is basically to prep Haka - he'll want lots of cards,  a Haka of Restoration and maybe a Haka of Battle.  Dominion helps with cards, and you can play Haka of Shielding and Ta Moko to help mitigate damage.  Spend most of the time hitting Ambuscade to get him to about 10 HP.  Once Haka had a good-sized hand,  put Ambuscade under 10 HP, and put out Ground Pound while you finish off the heroes - remember they can hit themselves for to suicide.  Ground Pound will mean no damage except some self-inflicted damage.  On the final round,  use incap powers to play Haka Restoration and heal to max,  then play Haka of Battle to boost a final attack via a power usage or elbow smash to finish off Ambuscade.  You just need to kill Ambuscade - things like Reactive Plating won't trigger if he's dead.

Got it! What's better, I was listening to Dragonforce's 'Operation Ground and Pound' WHILE I was Ground Pound-ed in the last round. ;P

Just wanted to say, this was a good team makeup. Mostly because the final turn was "Haka of Battle enough to kill Legacy, Wraith lets him Restoration back to full, Legacy lets him Savage Mana and kill Ambuscade twice over."

I feel like this is my favorite Haka just because of his background picture.

Especially compared to the other Prime Wardens. Everyone else is all scowly or serious, while Haka's got that adorable slightly mischievious smirk going on.

(Does Argent ever actually smile, anyway? Fanatic I can understand being perpetually dour, and Cosmic and Tempest have their smiley moments.)

On the incap side of his 'Dark Conductor' promo. After he's apparently turned evil via the influence of a past Virtuoso of the Void.

Isn't that the baton used by the Carbon Adept, not a VotV?

My understanding is that the Carbon Adept is using a VotV baton.

I can't provide a source since I heard it second-hand(want to say it was in a thread discussing Kvothe Six-String), but from what I know the baton is from a virtuoso that wasn't exactly a good person, and his power has a way of corrupting  those who weild his 'instrument'.

If the Letters Page ever becomes a thing, asking about the baton/Dark Conductor deal is definitely going in my pile of Virtuoso-related questions.

Also, did it really take turning evil to get Anthony to smile? For pity's sake, Prime Wardens peeps, give that poor fellow a vacation.
