It' not have Absolution in play, and have Fanatic deal no damage throughout the game.

Well, that would be the complete opposite of what I just tried, which is having her deal close to 100 radiant damage to herself over the course of the battle.

Well, seeing as the power on PW deals herself radiant damage, plays the top card of her deck, and then let's someone else use a power…maybe something linked to Embolden and dealing radiant damage to herself (or others)?  Not really sure how to handle the top-deck unless it involves using Scholar.  At least for Tempest's variant, it seemed to be more linked to the power itself rather than story elements.

Tried having Redeemer Fanatic deal damage to herself via Sacrosanct Martyr.

Fanatic dealt 30 radiant damage to herself using Martyr. Team was PW AA, Omni-X, Redeemer Fanatic, DW Expat, and Scholar vs. Ambuscade in Insula Primalis.

No unlock.

Now there’s a thought. Maybe it involves using all her masochistic cards. Perhaps all at once, or just all during one battle.

I played Chastise, Zealous Offense, Divine Focus, Embolden, and Sactosanct Martyr. Survived. Took the damage from it all, using PW AA as the lead, against Ambuscade.

i was generic fanatic. Had undaunted, and Absolution in play.

If I had to take a stab in the dark, I would guess that the villain should be Citizen Dawn using Redeemer Fanatic. IIRC, one of the Citizens breaks Absolution, and that’s the cause for Fanatic changing her appearance.

Well, my initial hypothesis of using Absolution to do 0 damage to a Citizen didn't work.

Nor did using Absolution to destroy Citizen Truth.

I hope someone figures this one out soon. This is the variant I've been waiting a while for :(

Tried getting out all of Redeemer Fanatic’s self-damaging cards and letting them “kill” her repeatedly with Aegis of Resurrection triggering each time. Tried it with and without Absolution in play. Also tried repeatedly destroying and re-playing Absolution in the same game. No luck.

Lost a game with Regular Fanatic with absolution in play against Citizen Dawn with Citizen truth in play. Then won a game against Citizen Dawn with Redeemer Fanatic and Absolution wasn't played. No Unlock.

Tried beating Apostate with the full team of vanilla Prime Wardens, then going after Citizen Dawn with a team of non-Prime Wardens. Tried destroying Absolution with Citizen Truth in play, tried hitting Citizen Truth with Absolution but not enough damage to kill him and then destroying Absolution, tried killing him with Absolution and then destroying it. No luck.

Based on her story,

"Fanatic had been witnessed most recently fighting a Dark-winged Deceiver. As a result, the Avenging Angel had donned more protective armor and a face-plate that obscured her vision. So, when Fanatic joined the fray against Akash'Bhuta wearing armor that allowed greater mobility and freedom of movement, half her face-plate torn off, and a her sword a jagged shard, the other heroes were as taken aback as they were pleased to see her."

Maybe it's "defeat Apostate as redeemer, then Akash bhuta in normal gear?

Note the descriptions of cause and effect. Also note that based on the unlock instructions for Redeemer, she beat Apostate first and then became Redeemer. So this seems to be describing:

  1. Apostate in normal gear
  2. Citizen Dawn (at least) in Redeemer gear (since that’s when Absolution is broken–I don’t know when her mask and armor are broken, but it’s later)
  3. Akash’bhuta in Prime Warden gear

I almost want to say that, given PW Argent Adept was a requirement to make the other four unlockable, it's more likely that each of the remaining Prime Wardens has the condition "Unlock Prime Wardens Argent Adept. Then, <X>". It was at least the case with Tempest, and I don't see why they'd make that a requirement for one team member and not the others (Freedom Six is a good example of this same thing).

I believe this is the case. That's probably what's missing in the PW CC unlock, hence why it's not confirmed. So we can hopefully safely assume for Fanatic it's

Step 1: Unlock PW AA

I don't think we need to use the normal fantatic, as that stage has already been covered by unlocking reademer fantic, so now we are on the tranistion from redeamer to prime wardens.

So far, of the four non-AA PW heroes, the two we know have had action based unlocks, rather than victory bard unlocks. So I’m inclined to suspect that Haka and Fanatic well follow that pattern. But we can’t know for sure.

I'm fairly certain it's the case.  I've included "Unlock PWAA" in all my recent refined reasoning for PWCC as well, so that's not the reason we haven't found it yet.

The truly sad thing would be if only some of the Prime Wardens needed PWAA, but that would also be pretty silly.

Tried using Divine Focus to discard Absolution, killing Advanced Citizen Dawn.  However, I did have the other copy of Absolution in play at the time.  No unlock.  (Team: Redeemer, Haka, 3x Prime Wardens).  It was in Wagner Mars Base, and Absolution was played twice, destroyed 3 times and restored to play by Pervasive Red Dust twice.

I suppose in theory it could involve discarding Absolution to destroy Citizen Truth, but that would be awfully specific to discover organically.  You'd be pretty unlikely to use Divine Focus to kill Citizen Truth, since he'd have to be at 1 HP (+damage boosts to Fanatic) and Dawn would have to be the same or lower, and villains aren't at 1 HP all that often.  I suppose you could kill him with Wrathful Retribution.  I guess it's something to try; I don't have any better ideas.

Looking back, though, Redeemer Fanatic's unlock conditions were absurdly specific.  If this one is anything like that, it could take quite some time to run across, with 4 gameplay conditions, 3 of which had to be in a particular sequence.

I'm playing now, and I am about to win (or SHOULD be) but for some reason, it says that Fanatic is prevented from playing cards by Crushing Cage, even though both cages are on Argent Adept, and the only card on Fanatic is Energy Bracer.

This bug is preventing me from winning; I have 6 health, Infinitor has 8, and I have Wrathful Retribution is in my hand for the second time. I call bullshit.

McBehrer, I have seen and reported the same bug. I found that rewinding to the beginning of Fanatic’s turn made it go away.

I doubt that the one shot is a hint, since the heroes are not unlockable while you are using the version you are trying to unlock. I think that is just showing off the new heroes.

For those tests, were they being done in Insula Primalis?

If it is tied to the moment Absolution breaks, then Parse's Critical Multiplier art will indeed be key, as it does appear to be Insula Primalis.

Critical Multiplier's quote is from Freedom Five #599.  Other cards featuring this issue are CC's Construct Cataclysm, picturing a pre-PW Captain Cosmic battling Citizens Sweat and Assault, and Tempest's Shielding Winds showing The Visionary apparently being protected from a Citizen Summer blast.

Hence, if you don't have other ideas, testing in Insula Primalis with Captain Cosmic, Tempest, The Visionary and Redeemer Fanatic vs. Citizen Dawn might be the best chance.  We can eliminate the superfluous conditions once we start actually unlocking the card.

Oh, and playing Cosmic Weapon on Fanatic might help too.  PW Fanatic features on that card, after all.

Redeemer Fanatic (incapped) With Absolution in play at time of incapacitation.

The benefit of trying to unlock Fanatic is that I'm starting to discover new things she could do that I never thought of before, who she really synergizes with, when to use Redeemer vs Default. She's starting to become one of my favourite.

Also, just doing a CRUD-TON of Radiant damage to Apostate with both version got me no unlock.

All right, I have a game suspended on Haka's turn immediately preceding Redeemer Fanatic's, with Citizen Truth out, in Insula Primalis.  The rest of the team is vanilla Prime Wardens.  (No Visionary, because I wanted to work on Haka's unlock, and still be able to destroy Absolution myself and reduce damage to Citizen Truth as needed.)  I've so far tried, and rewound:

  • Hit Citizen Truth for zero damage with Absolution, then kill him with Wrathful Retribution.
  • Hit Citizen Truth for zero damage with Absolution, then hit him again for zero damage with Fanatic's Cosmic Weapon.
  • Hit Citizen Truth for 1 damage, destroy Absolution, then hit him with Fanatic's Cosmic Weapon, killing him.
  • Hit Citizen Truth for 1 damage, destroy Absolution, then hit him with Fanatic's Cosmic Weapon, not killing him.

Any other thoughts while I have the game in this state?

Hey MigrantP, I had a fairly specific hint request.  I just want to know if Fanatic's unlock can occur during a game (like CC and Tempest) or needs to happen from a game ending (like AA).  This won't tell us how to do it, but it will affect how we look for it.  (If you wanna tell us the same for Haka's, I'd appreciate it, but I feel like I have a better chance of Fanatic's).

Humble new user here. I think there's a problem with some of these idea because many are drawn off of things that chronologically took place after Prime Warden Fanatic first appeared. I'm "assuming" that Prime Warden Fanatic first appeared in Freedom Five Annual #10 (base on the fact that the other three we've unlocked appear in that same issue) which coincides with Akash's first appearance in Prime Wardens #1. Anything that takes place after those two issues "shouldn't" have any bearing on the unlock, technically speaking. I've been doing some theorizing and Freedom Five Annual #9 contains a fight between Fanatic and Dreamer (based on Embolden's art showing Fanatic and Visionary), but it's possible that it takes place before Fanatic even becomes Redeemer Fanatic, since Fanatic #14 is mentioned on the card Illusory Demon, therefore the whole Apostate fight takes place after the Dreamer fight and before Akash (based on my idea that Absolution Comics follows Fanatic Comics), but if that's the case, I can't for the life of me figure out what she does after Apostate and before Akash.

tldr: I don't know how to unlock, just stating observations.

Here’s some wild conjecture:

If Fanatic and Haka are not found by Monday evening there will be a hint. Monday evening is when weekly one-shots are released so that hint may be in the form of a weekly one-shot. That makes me think it’s unlikely that both Fanatic and Haka are villain and environment dependent.

We know Haka can be unlocked at Megaloposis vs. Ambuscade but don’t know if either are required. If we discover that either Environment or Villain matter to Haka’s unlock I would suspect that the choice of that type of deck is not relevant to Fanatic.

Since Haka requires Ambuscade to unlock, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Fanatic requires Apostate in some form or fashion. It's also possible that she has to be the only one non-incapped, similar to Haka's situation.

Perhaps... but bear in mind that Redeemer Fanatic involved beating Apostate under specific conditions.  So story-wise, Apostate has already been beaten.  I'm sure he's not dead, so it's not impossible that he be involved again, but it seems unlikely.  Not that I have any better ideas right now; we've spent a lot of time on Citizen Dawn already, although we haven't exhausted all the possibilities.

Oh, interesting--and that art shows Absolution being broken further down than on PW Fanatic.  In fact, so does the reprint of PW Fanatic.  The original PW Fanatic card is the only one that shows the cross decoration as being broken.  So I think that's a good plan: Get Absolution destroyed, then win with Fanatic incapped.  But I'd still guess Citizen Dawn over Apostate, though, if a specific villain is required.

Unlocked.

Redeemer Fanatic, Legacy, Wraith, Scholar.

Apostate in Insula Primalis.

Unlocked after killing a Relic Spirit with Absolution.

I don't think its as simple as "Kill 1 of every type of demon with fanatic", or "kill two demons in one hit (because I tried that earlier in the game with no unlock) but its definitely demon related. I'm guessing that it involves killing X number of demons with Fanatic while Absolution and her Aegis are both in play.

Makes sense, really. She just had her sword broken and her faith rattled a bit by Citizen Truth.  Now she needs to beat the hell out of some demons until she feels better.

OK, that was weird...

First things first, Environment isn't important.  I unlocked in Dok'Thorath.

I had Aegis and Absolution in play and destroyed all three Demon types and two demons with Final Dive and stuff and no unlock.  It was enough that I thought that Insula Primalis was necessary.

I stuck to it, though, and finally got the unlock after a few more Demon kills.  I think there might be another important card instead of the Relics, though.  Perhaps Embolden?  I'm still rather shocked about my unlock, so I'm not going to look through now to figure it out, but here's my log.  I've already removed all the undo data (as I undid a LOT of things and it would be very confusing).

Edit:  Oh yeah, I had two low HP heroes and one incapacitated at the end.

For people that got the unlock, what type of damage were you mostly dealing with Absolution?  Melee? Fire? Radiant? A Mix?

OK, I had a quick look, and about the only parallel I can draw between my log and the Steam one right now is we both unlocked on killing the second Fiendish Pugilist with Fanatic.  Did anyone else unlock it upon destroying a different demon?

I got it killing a relic spirit. And I used only radiant damage with Absolution.

Confusing log--it has targets being destroyed with Redeem, which is ridiculous.

I counted 3 Imp Pilferers, 2 Relic Spirits, and 2 Fiendish Pugilists, in addition to 4 different relics finished off by Fanatic.  7 seems like a likely significant number.  I'm at about 5 right now, so let's see if I can get there....

Mostly Radiant, some Fire, it seems like no Melee.  I doubt damage type is important, as the Steam unlock was from Projectile dage of Final Dive.  Mine was from 17 points of Radiant damage via Wrathful Retribution.

That will be seen in any log.   If your hero destroys a target it will list the hero's base power.  Apparently not a simple thing to take out.

They aren't being destroyed by Redeem.  That's a quirk of the log.  When a hero destroys a card with damage, it appears to be assuming they are using their base power.  It really should just be saying "Redeemer fanatic destroys Blah", but it says "Redeemer Fanatic's Redeem destorys Blah" instead.

I’ve been at it for over an hour, with just Aegis and Absolution, killing Demon after demon. Killed all 3 at once, used end of days, used damage, made sure to also hit Apostate, mixed up my damage types, and no luck so far. There’s gotta be something else to it. Team comp?

Yeah, I'm missing something too.  My team is Redeemer Fanatic, Dark Visionary, Wraith, and Guise, in Final Wasteland.  I have out both relics, Undaunted, and Sacorsanct Martyr.  So far I've had Fanatic destroy 1 Fiendish Pugilist, 7 Imp Pilferers, 2 Relic Spirits, and 3 relics.  It could need to be at least two of each type of demon, so I'll keep going for that.  Those who've unlocked, did you unlock Redeemer manually or with the 30-day free unlock?  (I did the latter.)

Boom!  That was it.  Second Fiendish Pugilist.  So I'm going to guess it's two of each type.

That does match my log too, MindWanderer, but looking at the original Steam log, There was only one Imp Pilferer and one Relic Spirit destroyed by Fanatic while Aegis of Resurrection was in play.  Fanatic had destoryed others of each Demon beforehand.

It could potentially be:

Unlock Prime Wardens Argent Adept. Then fight Apostate with Redeemer Fanatic.  Redeemer Fanatic must destroy two of each type of Demon.

We should probably test whether Aegis of Resurrection and Absolution are needed after all.

I strongly suggest to those attempting the unlock, when using Final Dive, only destroys demons as the initial target if it is Fanatic playing the card.  This kill is assigned to the card in the log, so it might be assigned to the player fo the card, which is not always going to be Fanatic if played out of turn.

They definitely are; I've destroyed several of all of them, with both Absolution and Aegis in play. I think Sacrosanct Martyr may be necessary as well.

Well that's weird. I sat there and killed several of each of them, and never got it. It wasn't until I put out Sacrosanct that I got it.

(I guess it could be that I had only ever killed 1 relic spirit with her, specifically, and had killed it with the other teammates the other times, but forgot... I was pretty sure I had done it at least a couple times with her, specifically, though. I could be wrong, though.)

All the other stats have only been counting Fanatic's kills.  That's indeed what you were missing, I think.

There's a common theme amongst all the unlocks that makes it personal for most of the Prime Wardens.  Haka needs to win alone.  Captain Cosmic needs to protect others.  Tempest needs to go super-aggressive with all his offensive attacks.  Fanatic very likely needs to destroy her own Demons.

My thought is it's:

Unlock Prime Wardens Argent Adept. Then have Redeemer Fanatic destroy 2 of each demon in Apostate's deck with each of her Relics in play.

The log from Steam didn't put the Aegis into play until after they had killed their first Imp Pilferer and Relic Spirit, so that isn't it.  It could be that they must enter play at some stage, but they don't need to be there during the kills, if it is indeed 2 of each Demon.

I can confirm that:

a) no ongoings need to be in play for Fanatic - I never played either of her relics.  Only ongoings I played were Undaunted (that was destroyed by an Imp early on) and Embolden, which was on Legacy when I unlocked.

b) game only cares that you killed 2 of each demon type and doesn't check how many are in graveyard - I killed Fiendish Pugilist, put it back on top of deck with Visonary and killed him again to unlock.

c) you DON'T have to use Redeemer Fanatic - I unlocked with base Fanatic

From UMX266 we know you don't need to play Undaunted or Emboldin.  I can confirm you don't need relics or Sacrosacnt. I think it is:

Fanatic (either version) must destroy 2 Relic Spirits, 2 Fiendish Pugilists and 2 Imp Pilferers

So putting it all together...

Prime Wardens Argent Adept must be unlocked.   Then while battling Apostate, Fanatic (any version) must deal the final blow to two of each of Apostate's Demons.

Unlocked. Destroyed each demon twice when I faced Apostate at Insula Primalis, but only had Absolution out. Condemnation wiped my field, and the Imp destroyed Aegis of Restoration. Maybe you need to play Sancrosanct Martyr at least once?

The official unlock conditions for Prime Wardens Fanatic have been discovered by the community! Great work everyone.

Prime Wardens Argent Adept must be unlocked. Then, in a game against Apostate, regular or Redeemer Fanatic must destroy 2 Imp Pilferers, 2 Fiendish Pugilists, and 2 Relic Spirits.

It doesn't even have to be Redeemer? Dang. :O

Also worth noting that condition doesn't mean "must have 6 demons in the villain trash". If one gets pulled out and she puts it back in, that counts, because in my game, I never got a second Imp in play from the deck before the unlock.

Well, that was nasty.  I waited for Tome of the Unknowable to come out, Grandpa Legacy played Heroic Interception, allowed Team Leader Tachyon to use her power to have everyone draw cards (and have Apostate play cards), did it again on TLT's turn with a fleet of foot as well, and then had Fanatic play End Of Days.  Got the unlock, but no desire to finish that game....yuck.

I would recommend using Infrared Eyepiece from Wraith or Dark Visionary to get this setup as that sounds like a terrible game to play.  If your objective was to use Tome of the Unknowable you could've played advanced.

Nothing like having 2 Relic Spirits and a Runes of Malediction in play!  I ended up using Rampage and Savage Mana to clear out the relics and eat them all.  It's amazing what Haka can eat with Punish the Weak and two Syncopated Onslaughts while Rampaging.  All 3 imps were in Apostate's last 6 cards, which was annoying.

This was extremely more tedious than I thought it would be. I took Redeemer Fanatic, TLT, PW AA, CapCos and WW2 Bunker. To my great disapointment I forgot to plan a deck controler to help me. The last relic spirit was the last card. Apostate was stuck in a bind where he would get hit by hypersonic assault every round and bunker would use foam grenade every round. The only hero that did not have her whole deck in hand was TLT just so I could keep 18 bursts for opportune lightspeed barrage i could play as many vernal sonnata per rounds as i needed.

The begining of the fight was pretty hairy with a bunch of relics out, but with G.I. Bunker busting down DR and Fanatic and Ra out to chew through them all with TLTachy feeding cards and Gramps giving them more turns to attack, It went over relatively smoothly in the end.

Used Greatest Legacy, Dark Visionary, Ra, Fanatic in Insula Primalis

Lead from the Front/Fortitude/Twist the Ether allowed me to soak up most of the damage Apostate threw out. Visionary had to mill through most of Apostate's deck before I saw the Relic Spirits.

I used PW Adept, CC to unlock him, too), Fanatic (regular), Regular Haka (to eat the relics), and TLT (Cards, YAY!) in the Capital.

Had to let Apostate shuffle and redraw, as the environment killed one of the Relic Spirits AFTER Haka's Savage mana ate the Runes of Maldiction.  (D'oh!)

Got both unlocks, but I basically avoided killing Apostate for about 4 rounds.

That's a cool trick I hadn't thought of!  Just to clarify from a rules POV - For purposes of PW Fanatic's unlock, destroying Savage Mana with End of Days explicity destroys the targets underneath per EoDay's card text.  But, if she destroys Savage Mana with Consecrated Ground, does that cause her to then also destroy the targets stuffed underneath Haka's belly as well?

In those cases the unlocks are only looking for targets that entered the trash and doesn't care who did it.  In this situation Fanatic has to specifically destroy the targets and if they are under Savage Mana she isn't destroying them.

Note, though, that End of Days is attributed to her.  When End of Days triggers, it destroys all cards on the field in the order of your choosing.  The cards below Savage Mana count as targets (as they do for all effects which can target Environment cards).  Thus, provided you choose to destroy the cards under Savage Mana before you destroy Savage Mana, then that destruction will be attributed to Fanatic, as the player of End of Days.

You would have to be careful on your ordering.  If you destroy Savage Mana first and not the cards underneath it won't work.
