Weekly One-Shot #45: Multiverse Heroes and Endlings: How do they fight? Do they fight each other?? Lets find out!

Wager Master wants to find out how Setback, Unity, Expat, Scholar, and Absolute Zero match up against the Endlings.   Good Luck!

Randomized start had me worried. Who Are You Really Fighting was the big problem, and it took four flips to get him to keep it face-down. At that point, though, it was easy to beat him down. It wasn't that close, though Unity had like, 1 HP at the end. D:

I dealt with two early What Do You Really Know cards out which wiped out two heroes quickly.   Setback never got hit somehow by it and he did most of the damage to Wager Master.  

Well uh.  Easiest mint ever, thanks to the randomized start.  I did actual nothing.  Let me just give you the log.

For me this turned into probably the most intense Wager Master battle I've ever played... I wound up winning via losing to the odds with everyone but Scholar in single digits. "What Do You Really Know?" first round is nasty!

Got pretty lucky with the randomized start--Wager Master didn't play any of his nasty cards. First two (besides pretty benign opening conditions) cards played were Breaking the Rules, and then it was A Burning Sense of Failure. So no big threat, really.

Breaking the Rules was out the whole game, which always makes things interesting. Like having Impale and Turret Bot go off on the turn you play them. Frustrating for most of Unity's bots, though. You have to be patient for them to start to work.

Setback ended up doing the most through random Risk-y card plays in an already highly random game...High Risk Behavior had him dishing out big damage.

Saw Frazzat, Phrentat and Szreem. Bloogo came out at the end, but didn't do anything. Setback finished Wager Master off with a Karmic Retribution.

Setback 4 HP, Absolute Zero 6 HP, Unity and Expatriette both at 12HP and Scholar at 22HP.

Mint, sort of.  I'm pretty much guarenteed to win the game as soon as it stops getting stuck in an infinite loop every time Not All He Seems tries to prevent damage.  And there's no good workaround, because his conditions are indestructible on both sides, so I can't get rid of it with a RPG Launcher.

Other than that frustrating bit, it was a close game.  Every hero is at 1 hp except AZ, who is at 4.

How did Not All He Seems get stuck in a loop exactly?

Odd.  I don't see anything that sticks out as to why that happened.  

I HATE Wager Master. I can never seem to flip "Who are you fighting?" when he's already flipped. he has 6 cards flipped face down and I will have at least one hero incapped soon. how do people get out of this scenario?

Yeah, once Who Are You Fighting? comes out, my new plan becomes: Find an alternate win condition and win it. Empty his deck. Tie even for HP. Panic. Anything you can do!

I never got those, and then he just killed ONE of ym team. Ugh…

I wish there was a way to flip that card, like skip your turn and discard your hand. Something like that, instead of hopeing a new win condition comes out. 

I started with Who Are You Fighting?. My MO was to keep him on his front side until he was close enough to be defeated in one round after flipping. This meant keeping three Wagelings in play for 3 damage to all hero targets per round, and Venox was played early as well for 2 more damage per round, so it was a little dangerous to the heroes, but we managed to get setup for a fast victory upon flipping.

I didn't want to flip him right away because I didn't want him to have multiple opportunities at flipping WAYF? back. With my game, he had only a 1-in-5 chance of flipping WAYF?, and instead he flipped a Wagelings.

Just lost my first try due to Playing Dice with the Cosmos due almost entirely to a first turn What Do You Really Know?  That card easily did 75% of the total damage the heroes took.

Edit: Well, Near Mint, but not a particularly satisfying one.  First turn Who Are You Really Fighting AND What Do You Really Know? AND Playing Dice with the Cosmos.  The turn before I would have lost from Dice, I "accidentally" won by Losing to the Odds.  I hate Wager Master.

Mint, but one of the most brutal Wager Master fights I've ever had.

WM got out both copies of What Do You Really Know early. I've seen this card before and it never bugged me much, but two at one is really nasty, especially since they don't flip, but are still indestructible. With both out, WM was acting as a super-Ambuscade, filling his deck with 8 bombs a turn, each of which does 4hp damage and then reveals the next card.  Luckily, he never got any other particularly nasty cards out so it just turned into a damage race, which I was just barely able to beat him at.

I had a similar game to seesome, with both copies of What do you really Know hitting the table. Losing to the odds came out on the first turn , along with the one that makes heroes whack themselves if they have even hp. Smacked down two wagelings to make WM flip, then won when he flipped Losing to the odds. 3 round mint.

Mint - fairly lucky - no What Do You Really Know.  I did get Who Are You Fighting? but once Wager Master flipped, WAYF? never flipped back.  Scholar got a 14 damage Know When to Turn Loose thanks to Breaking the Rules and Know When to Hold Fast - that was 9 cards he got to draw that turn before playing KWTTL.

Full mint.  Last time I posted, I was stymied by a loop while I was within reach of victory.  It turned out to be an interaction between "Not All He Seems" and "A Burning Sense of Failure".  "Not All He Seems" is indestructible, but "A Burning Sense of Failure" is not.  Unfortunately, Unity didn't have a Bee Bot, Expatriette couldn't find her RPG Launcher, and Scholar has no Ongoing destruction at all.  Setback had Whoops, Sorry, but his turn had already passed.  Fortunately, AZ was able to save me with Fueled Freeze, and then Setback used Wrong Time and Place to redirect Venox's damage from the heroes to Wager Master, finishing him off with unlucky tokens to spare.

Awesome.  Glad you were able to workaround it. 

Mint. Got Playing Dice, Wageling, Losing to the Odds, Wageling. Then Who are you Fighting, but I won the next round by putting everyone at odd health, throat jabbing WM himself, and getting lucky with an environment play. He played Breaking the Rules, the Wageling made our healths even, and we won.

It seemed a lot longer to me than it was, because I agonized over whether to set our health to even and hope the environment hit us for an odd amount, or Immutus came out, or hope for the best and go odd. Then I got tired (Narcolepsy FTL), took a nap, and came back to it the next day.

We ended up with the fish (can’t remember his name) who hit a Wageling. We were safe.

I got Who Are You Fighting and a handful of Wagelings to start.
That was too many villain targets for comfort so I took out 2 Wagelings to flip the Master right away. Unfortunately he flipped Who Are You Fighting first off so I had to wade through 5 rounds whittling him down in HP while hoping another Wageling doesn’t get played. It worked out though, I flipped him, flipped him back (Wageling up this time,) and took him down for the Mint.

The Endlings didn’t really do much so except for using Whoops to take out the Refuge I let them be.

Expat starting with Speed Loading and Hollowpoints was pretty helpful I must say, especially when Scholar played a Shotgun off the top of her deck.

I got the ultra lucky start.  aka I won before my first turn.  Got meself the win with no powers and the win without playing cards.

Then my luck turned and i lost to basic baron blade.

Btw, I only just realized this was a Bojack Horseman reference. At the time, I hadn’t caught up with the show, and when I had, I didn’t connect it with this.

It took someone mentioning it to me for it to click, but it was pretty genius.
