Cosmic Omnitron vs. The Visionary, Redeemer Fanatic, America's Newest Legacy and Ra in the Ruins of Atlantis.

I haven't had time to test this one out yet, but the secret message in the description is:

COSMIC POWER DETECTED

OBJECTIVE: ASSIMILATE

That was a brutally tough game. I flipped Omnitron right away and kept him flipped for the rest of the game, for better or worse. Those early Adaptive Plating Subroutines lasted the entire game, though I might've been able to eventually destroy them had I not lost my Mental Divergences. The Terraformings and Electropulse Explosives were buried deep in the deck, but unfortunately the Terraforming destroyed three environment cards, resulting in a lot of Drones and one EPE. It was at this moment that I started kicking myself for having discarded a Wrest the Mind that would've helped tremendously with the EPE dilemma. Then, of course, once I destroyed that one EPE, Omnitron played the second one.

I had to sit and stare at the board for about ten minutes before I could decide how best to approach this. Ultimately I Chastised the EPE, which only served the purpose of postponing his hero destruction by one round since everyone was at single digits and wasn't going to last for much longer anyway. The Adapative Plating Subroutines really put a cramp in Ra's damage-dealing capabilities, as he really wanted to Flame Spike but couldn't bring it upon himself to do it. With a Hallway Collapse imminent (thanks to Visionary's manipulations), Legacy was hard-pressed as to whether she should damage Omnitron some more or become immune to Energy damage to spare Fanatic some damage. The damage immunity ultimately worked in their favor; after the hallways collapsed, Omnitron played a mere Component and spared all the heroes; Visionary then twisted Ra's Ether while Fanatic became a near Martyr, Legacy back-fist struck, and Ra was finally convinced to spike his flames.

With that came one of my more deserved Mint victories.

Fun one! Mint, everyone was coasting along pretty well, enjoying the buffed healing from double Phosphorescent Chambers, when Omnitron tried to go out in a blaze of glory by playing Terraforming into Sedative Flachettes, dropping everyone to 4. He only had 5 left at that point, though, so we made short work of him.

I was doing so well… and then it all went so so wrong. No mint for me this time hopefully I can still pull of a near mint.

Mint.

HOLY DOWN TO THE WIRE, SENTINELS!

Visionary only one standing with 2HP.

I did a foolish thing when the Atlantean Font of Power played Divine Sacrifice...I let Fanatic hit Cosmic Omnitron. On Cosmic Omnitron's next turn, it played Sedative Flechettes--so all that damage went to Fanatic, and she went down VERY early.

However, I spammed her incap power to heal all heroes, and when the Phosphorecent Chambers came out, that was pretty nice. But the increased damage whittled down the heroes' HP over time, and Legacy and Ra went down.

So, Visionary was at 1HP, and Cosmic Omnitron incapped Legacy and Ra on its turn, after Terraforming the Chambers away. Terraforming played an Electropulse Explosive, a healing droid, and the other Terraforming. Visionary has two cards in her hand--a Cocoon, and a Wrest the Mind. Cosmic Omnitron is at 10HP after a 2HP heal.

My options were to play the Cocoon and wait it out, or to take a huge risk and hope Visionary survives the Environment turn, so that Omnitron is taken out with its own Wrested Explosive.

Maybe against my better judgment,I went for the risky play. Visionary Wrested the Mind of the EPE.

There were 6 cards in the environment deck: Hallway Collapse, Pillars of Hercules, Leaking Room, and 3 Krakens. From an earlier Prophetic Vision, I knew that the bottom 2 cards were the Pillars and a Kraken. If the Collapse or one of the other 2 Krakens comes out, I lose. My only hope is the 1 in 4 chance that it was a Leaking Room.

I use Fanatic's healing incap power to put Visionary at 2HP, then she draws cards with the other Incap powers....and wait for the environment....

Well, guess what? Leaking Room! Made all the more awesome, because Visionary's picture is on the card AND for the coup de grace, the EPE did 2 extra lightning damage to Omnitron because of the Leaking Room!

It took a few minutes for my heart rate to settle down after this one.

Whew!

Wow Reverend Pete, sounds like an awesome match. That may be the first time anyone was happy to see leaking room get played.

I know, right?

Leaking Room usually makes me mumble profanities, but this time I actually cheered out loud when it came up!

Mint with everyone sitting comfortably in their teens, but I won't pretend It didn't get more than a little hairy more than once. Divine Sacrifice becomes much less risky to play when Young Legacy is standing by with a Heroic Interception, while Visionary and Ra earned a dual MVP by combining Twist the Aether (on Cosmitron) and Flesh of the Sun God.

I also religiously patrolled the environment deck with Visionary every chance I got, to make sure nothing that would let Cosmitron get card plays in the environment phase ever saw the light of day!

Near Mint.

First time through tried to control Cosmitron which went pear shaped as it went on a rampage. Second time through, I lost Redeemer Fanatic early but never felt in too much danger. I used Visionary and a Take Down to slow Cosmitron. Putting Technological Singularity at the top of the deck when you have no equipment in play is nice.

Cosmitron ended up getting squished when a hallway collapsed on him, while the three remaining heroes were at around a dozen HP each.

Well, "Mint" I suppose.

Played it last night on Steam, failed dramatically; things got really, really out of hand fast. Then played it on iOS, and focused on nothing except for card draw, to get Legacy a Take Down! to prepare for The Pillars of Hercules (which killed me last game) and then hunt for Flesh of the Sun God from Ra, knowing I'd soon draw into a Twist the Ether.

Worked "well" in that I got a mint; poorly in that I had Legacy at 1, Fanatic 8, and Ra and Visionary at 3.

Still-- got TtE on Omni, FotSG going, basically pretending we were fighting Spite, then had Visionary Wrest the Mind on the Kraken for most of the game and Suggestion-ing the villain deck into not playing anything other than the lamest of his Components to try to forestall Sedative Flechettes destroying my TtE/FotSG combo.

Visionary was easily the MVP of the game, no questions asked, though Ra and Legacy did most of the heavy lifting and Fanatic tanked. Just writing that sentence felt strange. It was a weird game, man.

Got my board wiped multipe times. After the second Sedatives wiped everything, my tablet nearly became a projectile.

Going to see if it's salvagable later.

Third time was the charm, I just wish I knew what strategy I used that worked differently from my last try. :/ Everyone was at low-digit HP, like most folks.

I've found that the difficulty on this one depends largely on how you choose to employ Visionary.

SPOILERS below for the fight...

OK!

so, Visionary starts with two prophetic visions. And Atlantis is exactly the sort of place that likes to screw with you. I've found that using one of those visions ASAP saves you from a world of hurt by letting you get the pillars of Hercules out of the way and giving you something you can work with... like a kraken. Sure, it will go after you that first time, but once the drones start appearing, it's nothing but helpful. Even more so once you wrest the mind.

Heres the thing though. You are GOING to get sedative flechetted at some point. Probably twice. You've got a brief window between them, and that's when the Kraken can really be used to your advantage. After both flechettes, there are probably enough drones that you can just let the Kraken do it's own thing.

In terms of powers, you want to get yourself a twist the Ether ASAP. Save it for after both flechettes, because it is going to be the key to a LOT of damage. See... it's tempting to put it on Omnitron, but it can do a LOT more damage if you put it on Ra. Since he does nothing but fire, twisting him allows for him to play a lot more damage dealing one shots and still use his powers. Focus fire (or whatever you twist it to) on Omnitron, and he'll start to melt fast. After that, I like to use my base power on Ra or legacy, depending on what they have at hand.

Once that's done, you can start using Visionary to screw with Omnitron's deck.  You start out with a suggestion, and once Ra is twisted, feel free to use it to keep Omnitron from playing anything useful, at least for a turn. I like giving Omnitron back the disintegration beams, since you are likely doing more than 7 damage a round (honestly, once twisted, staffed, and inspired, Ra tends to do that much in a single turn).

By now, someone has likely lost their hand to rid the party of Toxic Seaweed, so help them stay on the offensive with your power while continuing to screw with Omnitron by wresting the Kraken (if you haven't already), or joining the damage train.

heres a few tips for the others:

Fanatic is solid.  If you can finagle it so that Zealous offense is out, go you. It's tricky, what with the singularities, but useful. Mostly she just does a marvelous job tanking...and once the phosphorescent chambers come out, her healing gets much nicer.  Holy novas are great with damage and healing boosts!  Be really careful with divine sacrifices. If you know Legacy is going to do an intervention, go for it... but it can still backfire.

Legacy is amazing, as always. Get that inspiring presence out ASAP... and don't worry about being hit with flechettes and losing it. You've got a Visionary to help look for another one. Since your one shots do melee, and your base power energy, feel free to go on the offense and pummel the big robot without worrying that you are going to be stymied by the adaptive subroutine.

Ra is your heavy damage dealer. Get a staff, burn things. If your staff gets busted, get a new one (or hope the environment is kind enough to play one for you when the font of power comes out).  Once twisted, I found that the Living Conflagrations could be used like one shots due to the fact that they do damage on being played.   Then, of course you can use them to scout for even nastier one shots like flame spikes and fire blasts.

Go all out out on Omnitron. The drones are a nuisance, but only take them out if you have an AoE attack, or if you absolutely need to.  Just keep hitting that big robot, and you'll be fine.

Hope this helps!

Mint, despite a few bonehead mistakes.

I went straight for the damage sandwich.  Inspiring Presense, Staff of Ra, Absolution, you know the drill.  Visionary opened with Prophetic Visions, which was good for dodging the Pillars of Hercules.  Then Font of Power helped Technological Singularity and Sedative Fletchettes go off consecutively, which sucked.  But we got right back on the ball, with a Twist the Aether and Embolden going on Ra to let him churn out the damage.  I accidentally killed the first Phosphorescent Chamber, which was sad, but we did okay.  Visionary used her power to help Fanatic dig for Wrathful Retribution.  Of course, we found Divine Focus first, which was also nice, but was almost our undoing.  Visionary hands Fanatic a Wrathful Retribution, but before I can play it I let Divine Focus damage Omnitron, and make him immune to radiant damage!  Well, I did my best, but Ra and Legacy couldn't kill him, and they were killed by the second Sedative Fletchettes.  But they left Omnitron wide open to a 28 point Wrathful Retribution on the next turn.

Brutal game. Lost my first 2 tries in spectacular fashion. Read a bit here and let Visionary concentrate on the environment and then getting Twist the Ether on Ra.  Still was a close game. All 4 heroes were standing, but they had a combined 9 hp among them all.

Fun fact:  It's actually possible to win this without seeing the Sedative Fletchettes even once!

Doing so (at least the path I used, there might be others) pretty much requires exact knowledge of the villain and environment decks and several non-intuitive tactics, but it can be done.

Details below in white

Round 1:  Visionary plays Prophetic Visions and puts Pillars of Hercules (yes, really) on top.  Visonary passes her power draw to Legacy.  Legacy plays Inspiring Presence.  Do not deal enough damage to destroy the components.  You really don't want Cosmitron chaining drones with Pillars of Hercules out.

Round 2:  Leave Pillars out.  They'll play a few drones, but it won't be too bad.  Don't play the second Prophetic Visions.  Pass your power draw to Legacy again.  Legacy will play Bolster Allies and draw Take Down, which she will then play.  You can destroy all of Cosmitron's components now - there won't be any drone chaining ever again.  Wail on the evil robot as much as you can.

Round 3: Play Prophetic Visions to dodge the Seaweed and the Leaking Room.  Use Suggestion to put a component on top of Cosmitron's deck.  Start blowing up the Adaptive Platings.  Legacy should skip her turn to destroy Pillars of Hercules.  This will preserve Take Down for another round.  Continue wailing on Cosmitron.

Round 4: More wailing.

Round 5: Kill Cosmitron.
