I figured I would start the discussion......

Any thoughts?  Probably involves Wager Master?

It is not playing the game or beating Wager Master on December 25, or on any 25th, since I just tried both.

Looks like at least one (maybe 2) folks have unlocked him over on the Steam boards.  The running theories seem to involve Best Card Ever and drawing.

I just unlocked on drawing through Best Card Ever so that sounds likely. I've drawn a lot of cards (several rounds of Metor Storm,) am drawing out of turn (through Greatest Legacy's power,) and have a number of his ongoings out (Lemme See That, Blatant Reference, Guise the Barbarian, Selling Out.)

I just got mine drawing off of a "Where Did I Leave That?", so almost certainly draw based.  It was from an out-of-turn play due to Argent Adept.  I had played Where Did I Leave That? 4 times that game (shuffled already) and Best Card Ever only once.

I got my unlock during a Where Did I Leave That as well - mine was during an Environment Turn as part of a Selling Out resolution. I think I played a total of 3 Best Card Evers prior to that and a total of 3 or 4 Where Did I Leave That in the game prior to the unlock. I'm thinking it's either just a lot of card draw or lots of out-of-turn card draw (or it's complicated involving other conditions that we just kind of stumble into as we play the character considering there's lots of activity by which to do the stumbling).

I would say a lot of out or turn card draws (and maybe plays).

I didn't unlock by playing Best Card Ever x2 -> Where Did I Leave That on AA's turn. However, soon after on the villain's turn, the Ennead played the top card of every deck and made Guise play Where Did I Leave That again. That managed the unlock.

So fabikw got it off of a villain effect, and a guy on the Steam forums got it from Super Kawaii playing Gritty Reboot.  I think these indicate that it's not draw related, nor do they have to "your effects".  Therefore, my guess is:

Guise must play 25 (for Christmas) cards out of turn in a single game.

Or possibly 12 (for the days of Christmas).

Theory 1

Guise must play "I can do that too" X times, where X is the number of days until Christmas.

Theory 2

Pause the game on Guise's turn during a fight with Wager Master.

Put on Christmas music.

Leave it running on Guise's turn until he cracks and gives you the unlock.

I only played 1 game with Guise and unlocked Santa. Here’s my numbers, lets hope I counted right.

8: Number of turns I skipped to draw cards before taking an actual turn.
29: Total number of cards drawn by Guise
12: Total number of cards drawn out of turn when the unlock occurred
14: Total number of cards played
13: Total number of cards played out of turn (all in one environment turn)
29: Total number of cards in his trash at time of unlock
1: Card in the deck at unlock
8: Total cards in hand at time of unlock

Guise was not in the lead position. The final out of turn draw was off of Gritty Reboot.

The unlock is definitely linked to the draw so I have 2 hypotheses. The second one I did by accident; I wouldn’t have done these both in the same game if I was paying better attention.

  1. Play a game with Guise. Guise must draw 12 cards out of turn.
  2. Play a game with Guise. Guise must draw and/or play a total of 25 cards out of turn.

Can anyone naysay either of these?

Edit: The game was vs Mad Bomber Blade in Omnitron IV. One other number that may or may not matter 17: number of cards Guise discarded before the unlock

There’s got to be more to it than that though. I just played a game with scholar, argent, ww2 legacy, and omnitron giving guide as many out of turn plays powers and draws as possible, no unlock.

I got it when I had kawaii in play, and played a card on another hero’s turn to make him use a power and I made him choose his own where he dealt a damage and played a card.

After that I got it.

I just got it on a card draw from Freedom 6 Tachyon on her turn, so it is definitely card-draw-related.

Also, using I Can Do That Too on Omnitron-U’s base power is fun for Guise’s big turns.

It's not draw related. I just unlocked it on a play on Kawaii. It might be total out of turn actions - I had him interact through having most of his deck in hand, with every hero in one turn

Turn order is DarkVis, Guise, AA, Unity, Haka.

On the turn I got the unlock I set him up with Kawaii, and Blantant Reference.

On AA's turn he played I Can Do That Too to sing a song (healing everyone), on Unity's Turn he played a card to use Visionary's power (scrying AA's deck), and on Haka's he played Say Cheese! - getting the unlock). I hadn't gotten to the Blatant every turn.

Also, never touched Wagermaster, so that's not part of it.

I think it might be "play one of everything" while on someone else's turn? Or some list of cards that must be played?

I finally played Jump The Shark, via Omnitron-X's power use, and that was the last card I had to play left. And I got it there.

Vs. Ambuscade.

Group was:
Old Legacy, SS Tachyon, Captain Cosmic, Guise, Omnitron-X (I was trying to get as many card plays/power uses as I could without just sitting on Argent Adept).

Just unlocked.

I did not play one of everything. Also, I did not get it from card drawing. I had only drawn 8 cards when he unlocked and no cards were drawn to trigger the unlock. My team was, in order, Greatest Legacy, Argent Adept, SS Tachyon, Omni-x, Guise. I chained powers out of turn to let Guise play multiple cards as well. maybe thats part of it?

The cards I played, in this order and on these turns were:

  • Where Did I Leave That? (Played by Legacy)
  • Gimmicky Character (OmniX)
  • Best Card Ever! (OmniX)
  • Look What I Found (OmniX)
  • Lemme See That (Guise)
  • Selling Out (Guise)
  • Gritty Reboot (Using Selling Out)
  • Guise the Barbarian (Using Selling Out)
  • Uh...Yeah...I'm That Guy (Using Selling Out)
  • Gimmicky Character (a second time, on Legacy's turn)
  • Extreme!!! (Legacy)
  • I Can Do That Too! (Argent Adept)
  • I Can Do That Too! (a second time, still Argent Adept's turn)
  • Retcon (unlocked as soon as retcon was played. Both "I Can Do That Toos" and "Retcon" were played in the same chain using powers. Argent let Guise play ICDTT!, Guise used OmniX's power to play the second ICDTT! from the deck, then used Legacy to play Retcon.)

Maybe there are multiple ways to unlock? Either Plays or Draws? Definitely playing specific cards and Retcon is definitely one of them.

Maybe it is a combination of drawing certain cards and playing certain cards.  Or drawing a certain number of out of turn cards and playing specific cards.

I unlocked when I drew "Say Cheese!"

My heroes were Freedom 6 Tachyon, Greatest Legacy, Argent Adept, Tempest and Guise

The cards I had played at that point were:

Gimmicky Character (Argent Adept's turn)

Best Card Ever! (still Argent Adept's turn)

Where Did I Leave That... (still Argent Adept's turn)

Gritty Reboot (Guise's turn)

Retcon (Legacy's turn)

I Can Do That, Too! (Guise's turn)

I unlocked on Argent Adept's next turn when he allowed Legacy to use his base power on Guise.  Guise drew "Say Cheese!"

I believe I had drawn 22 cards by that point, with 15 of them being out of turn card draws.

I hope this helps

Got it. I had F6 Tachy, Guise, Greatest Legacy, Haka, and Omni X vs. Omnitron in Insulation Primalis.

Unlock came on a draw during Tachy's turn.

At the unlock, I had 18 cards in my discard pile, 12 in my hand, 10 in the deck.

I had played:

Look what I found

Guise the barbarian

XTREME

Where did I put that

Gimmicky character

I can do that too

Best card ever

Return

Say cheese

Gritty reboot

I had NOT played let me see that, super kawaii, or total beefcake.

I just unlocked too, a long way into a game when I finally was able to play Where Did I Leave That...  The unlock came between playing the card and its effect, so it was definitely tied to playing.

From the above reports, a very common thread is that all 7 of Guise's One-Shots have been played.

So I'm fairly sure a primary component of this is Guise playing all his one-shots at least once.

Now, others have unlocked on draws, so there is clearly a drawing component too.

Could it be as simple as Guise has drawn X cards and played each of his one-shots at least once?

What possible values do we have for X?  I can probably look up what mine was, as I saved the log, but it'll be a waste of time as the count will be huge as I was very far into a match against Akash'Bhuta.

I got my unlock as a side effect of playing around with Guise. Heavy draw and play team TLT Tachy, AA, Guise, Legacy, and someone else. I was funneling draws and getting AA to gant plays and powers like you do. I think it unlocked on a TLT Tachy draw, but I really wasn't paying attention and have little to add when it comes narrowing down exact conditions. Sorry I'm no hep at all.

Just unlocked Santa Guise.... unlock was on an out of turn card draw (from Grandpa Legacy letting Guise use his base power.) I had played every one-shot at least once over the course of the game.

So, I haven't double-checked, but I appear to have had 27 draws total and 10 draws out-of-turn.

So I think the unlock is either:

Guise has drawn at least 25 cards and played each of his one-shots at least once?

or

Guise has drawn at least 10 cards outside his turn and played each of his one-shots at least once?

If anybody else has their logs, it'd be great to get some more numbers to figure out if the numbers are right.

Got it. Set up was Ambuscade in Omnitron IV with Guise, Omnitron X, and Grandpa Legacy.

Basically I used both OX to give him out of turn card plays and Legacy for out of turn power uses. Got it on an out of turn use of Guises power, but it was on the card draw portion.  I am pretty sure I did not play all of his one shots or all of his ongoings.

Ah yes.  With only 8 cards drawn, it would seem to focus on out-of-turn draws.

Does anybody that hasn't unlocked yet want to do some experimentation for us?  The process is:

1: Set up a matches with Guise, Visionary and Team Leader Tachyon on the team against a Villain and Environment that won't force you to draw cards (Ambuscade and Silver Gulch perhaps).

2: Start at 1 out-of turn draw

3: Ensure TLT and Visionary use their powers to give Guise exactly that many out-of-turn draws.

4: The only things that Guise should do on his turns is play each one-shot at least once, drawing cards to get more one-shots otherwise.

5: If, on playing his seventh unique one-shot you don't get the unlock, restart the match, increase the number of out-of-turn card draws by 1 and repeat steps 3-5.

If you get to 10 card draws, just stop, as it's clear that's too many and it means there's another condition needed, perhaps certain ongoings.

I think it is one of 2 things:
1. Drawing cards out of turn through other people's abilities / cards (gifts)
2. Drawing a certain number of cards with in one turn or round

All I played of Guises before I got the unlock was:
Where did I leave that...
Best Card Ever!
I can do that, Too!
Look what I found!
Retcon

Party was made up of Greatest Legacy, Guise, Team Leader Tach, Argent Adept, and Omni X - Legacy was always hitting Tach with his ability to use her ability to make everyone draw cards, everyone else was making Guise play cards.

I thought it had something to do with Cards played of his as well but this was posted over on the Steam forums:
"His cards being played is not a requirement. I unlocked it without playing a single card of Guise's. I used his power, but I only used it to draw, and only on other characters' turns."

Hmm...  I'm beginning to wonder, perhaps mine was based on drawing after all.

It unlocked for me between playing Where Did I Leave That... and drawing the two cards.  Perhaps the unlock happens before the final card is drawn?  If so, then that was my 28th draw too!

So is it just?:

Guise draws 28 cards (not counting starting cards).

Another example here of an unlock that wasn't keyed to a card draw, so I don't think that's it.  On Argent Adept's turn, I believe the sequence was---Arcane Cadence, put Inspiring Supertonic into play with it, Vocalize Supertonic to use Guise's power, used Guise's power to put in Kawaii, immediate unlock before the damage.  I had been planning to play Best Card Ever off of Kawaii that turn, thinking that the requirement might have been to get one draw, one play, and one power all on another player's turn---basically, have an entire turn within someone else's---but didn't even need to get that far.  I had already drawn off of Team Leader Tachyon, though, so the play of Kawaii did complete Guise's full-turn trifecta for the round, rather than the turn.  If something like that's the explanation, it'd explain why folks are seeing the unlock off of both out-of-play plays and draws---which one would just depend on the order that you use Guise.  But I'm certainly not convinced that's the right track yet.  An unlock where Guise never played a card is curious, not sure how to factor that.

Was against Baron in Insula, for reference.  Team was Guise, Legacy, Team Leader Tachyon, Argent, Unity.

It definately is not tied to Playing a card at all. The game log I posted the info for above never played a single card or uses a single power from Guise.

It might have something to do with the things Guise says and does. Those dont seem tied to anything he does so it might just be to get him to do / say them all

I got it from a setup with TL Tachyon, Guise, America's Greatest Legacy, Argent Adept, and Unity to just keep giving Guise out-of-turn plays and draws. If I remember right, he actually got it while playing an instance of Blatant Reference. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the log files for the game, or I'd post them up here. Also, had the sound muted, so I couldn't confirm audio queues.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something weird like. In a game with Guise, make Guise play audio cues 12 times from card draws or plays outside of his turn. 12 for the Christmas theme, and sounds because...well, Guise is gonna do something weird and convoluted, being a Gimmicky Character.

Another option would be something like Make Guise draw and/or play X number of cards outside of his turn, which seems pretty consistent with what others have found.

I haven't unlocked Santa yet, but I haven't really been hunting for an unlock either, so haven't agressively tryied to trigger things.  I've played a bunch of games with Guise, both regular and one-shot; no multi-player games though.

One thought:

Given that some people are clearly unlocking him on draws and others are clearly unlocking him on plays, and given the nature of Guise, I wonder if there are different unlock triggers, tied to what position Guise is playing in.  E.G. If Guise is in first position it's based on drawing, if he's in the 2nd position it's based on plays, 3rd, 4th and 5th could be something else too.  It'd be crazy and annoying and something we've never seen before, but all of that would be in keeping with Guise.

It might be the combination of cards. I had mine unlock while I had both Super Kawaii and Blatant Reference out.

Or it might be something like, "Play or draw X cards out of turn"

Have there been unlocks during Guise's turn?

Hm. It might have something to do with how conceited Guise is -- he thinks he's the best, and wants the player to make him look good, so what more fitting unlock condition than him hogging the spotlight via taking actions (plays, powers or draws) on other peoples' turns?

Has anyone unlocked him during Guise's own turn?

Unlocked him in a 3 player match against Ambuscade earlier today.

Guise was in the first position; on a play with Kawaii during the 3rd player's turn, he played "Where did I leave that." As soon as he drew the 2 cards, Santa Guise unlocked.

I'd mention more, but I don't know how to get the log off of an android tablet. FWIW, the other two players were TLT and normal Visionary, who gave all of her power-draws to Guise. I also thought it might possibly involve discards, so I tried to have Guise discard one of each card.

Is it possible it has to do with cards in hand rather than draws?

I unlocked him today, wasn't even trying so I can't be much help.

I did not high five anyone though, I did use all three of my heroes powers in a single turn with two plays of "I can do that too"

I unlocked him after playing a card outisde my turn with Kawaai. Is it possibly to do with playing x number of cards outside your turn or in a round?

In addition, I was playing against the Earth avatar enemy whose name eludes me. Guise was in slot three, fighting alongside TL Tachyon and Sky-Scrapper. I have previously beaten Wager Master without Guise on the team (Might be important given his origin)

I unlocked him Sunday in a game against Progeny with Tachyon, Fanatic, Guise and Scholar in that order. My buddy, for whatever reason, wasn't playing the Fleet of Foot he had in hand when Guise was still up so he never drew a card out of turn. Guise went down on turn 3 so didn't have a chance to do much of anything at all so I don't think it has anything to do with how many cards Guise himself draws or plays in turn or out of turn. I got the unlock near the end of the game with Scholar the last man standing and the other 3 feeding him card draws(Guise and Tachyon) and plays (Fanatic). I got it after Guise allowed Scholar to discard an Ongoing(One-shot?) to draw 2 cards.

I just unlocked him on a Dominion Draw for Haka.  Guise hardly did anything yet.  I was going for Omni-U unlock and decided to bring Guise along just in case. Voss basic vs Unity, Guise, Visionary, Argent Adept and Haka in Final waistland.

How do I print a log? I'd like to see how many card draws/plays, but I'm going with:

Guys must be on the team.  25 cards must be played or drawn through card effects or powers.

Guise must be on the team.  Play or draw 25 cards for any hero, outside of that hero's turn.

Just unlocked Santa Guise on my phone. Team was America's Greatest Legacy, Team Leader Tachyon, Guise, Visionary, Omnitron-X.

Pretty sure the unlock condition is related to how many cards Guise has played outside of his turn. I'll provide a better analysis of the game shortly.

Anyone know how to get game logs off of Android devices? I've still got the game in progress on my phone and can parse through it for some information.

Found the game log and attached it. Here's what I'm pretty sure on related to the achievement

- Players, villain, and environment do not matter, as long as Guise is in the party.

- Santa Guise is unlocked as soon as the condition is triggered; the game does not need to be won.

- My first assumption was that it might relate to number of card draws outside of a character's draw phase. In two rounds, I'd drawn 25 (Team Leader Tachyon's power four times, and through a use of Fleet of Foot. No unlock). Visionary and Omni-X did nothing during the first round. I did not restart the game after this condition not triggering, so it could still be related.

- My unlock was during the end of the fourth environment turn, when Retcon was played as part of the trigger of Selling Out. This was the thirteenth card Guise played the entire game.

- Cards played by Guise during the game: Guise the Barbarian, Lemme See That... (x2), Gritty Reboot, Blatant Reference, I Can Do That Too (x2), Best Card Ever, Super Ultra Kawaii!!, Selling Out, "Uh Yeah, I'm that Guy", X-treeeeeeeeme!!!, Retcon; 6 of those cards were played during the last round.

Here's a couple of ideas based on this game to try.

- Play a game with Guise. Guise must play 12 cards during the game. [Potentially required: At least 25 cards must be drawn during the game]

- Play a game with Guise. Guise must play five cards in a single round, outside of his turn.

- Play a game with Guise. Guise must draw a card, play a card, or use a power 12 times in a single round.

- Play a game with Guise. Guise must draw a card, play a card, or use a power during every turn other than the villain turn.

Guise dose not need to play or draw the card for the win condition.

Haka unlocked it in my game with Dominion.  Guise was on the team.

Do we have a comfirmation that Santa Guis was unlocked through a power play?

  1. Went from Grand Warlord Voss's PlayCard phase to End phase.
  2. Grand Warlord Voss initiates 4 Energy damage to Haka.
  3. Tā Moko reduces the damage dealt to Haka by Grand Warlord Voss by 1.
  4. Grand Warlord Voss deals Haka 3 Energy damage.
  5. Haka is now at 16 HP.
  6. Grand Warlord Voss initiates 3 Fire damage to Swift Bot.
  7. Grand Warlord Voss deals Swift Bot 3 Fire damage.
  8. Swift Bot is now at -1 HP.
  9. Grand Warlord Voss destroys Swift Bot!
  10. Unity initiates 2 Fire damage to Horrid Skunk Ape.
  11. Champion Bot increases the damage dealt by Unity by 1.
  12. Unity deals Horrid Skunk Ape 3 Fire damage.
  13. Horrid Skunk Ape is now at -2 HP.
  14. Unity's Bot-Hack destroys Horrid Skunk Ape!
  15. Haka draws Mere.
  16. Haka draws Rampage.
  17. You just unlocked the promo card: Santa Guise!

This is the 72nd instance of draw in the file.

So...

Guise must be on the team.  Draw 25 cards ouitside of a hero's turn.

Guise must be on the team.  Draw 50 cards outside of a hero's turn.

Guise must be on the team.  Draw 70 cards.

Guise must be on the team.  Draw 72 cards.

My eyes go buggy trying to find the turns, especially since some heroes drew cards outside of thier turns in other players turns.

I know 72 cards were drawn.

I know 51 cards were played, but that includes villain and environment.

I know for a fact that during my game that I drew less than 50 cards and unlocked during a card play.

Another idea: "Play a game with Guise. Characters must play cards, draw cards, or use powers X times outside of their turn in a single round"

I'm thinking X = 12 or 25.

It didn't feel like 85, but I'll trust you on that one.

Also, my unlock was on a card play, so if nothing else, it is a combination of play/draw, maybe throw power in there as well.

Edit: I'm a dummy and missed that you did say play. But yeah, also maybe throw power in there. If America's Greatest Legacy, AA, and Guise can do it together, it seems appropriate.

This get's more confusing when you consider Visionary's power or Argent Adept's Instrumental Conjuration.  Visionary technically says draw two cards. Even though you end up with one, you technically drew 2.

Instrumental Conjurations puts a card into play, is that the same as playing a card?  Is it out of turn if played during Argent's Adept Play Phase or Power Phase?  Would it be 2 out of turn plays if he played it out of turn.

*sigh* My head hurts.

I'm going to continue to parse my log.  I'm calling anything that the engine calls a draw, a draw. I'm only calling what the engine calls plays a play.  So Visionary counts as two draws and Instrumental Conjuration only counts as the one play of itself and the putting the instrument into play is not a play.  Once I get that done I'll look at some of these trickier cards again.

I started analyzing game logs last night. Tonight after work, I’ll do a few more and compare the results, but so far this seems reasonable:

  1. Play a game with Guise on the team.
  2. One player must play, draw, or use powers 12 times out of turn.
  3. One player must play, draw, and/or use powers 25 times out if turn.

The #2 might have to be Guise, but I need to look at more data. I’m not even positive it’s a condition yet.

If you want me to use your log in my research please post a link to it here so it is easy for me to find. The more the merrier!

After going through many logs, the only conclusion I can come to is I am apparently not very good at this. Maybe I am not looking at the right data.

I still think I was onto something with the 12/25. All the logs I’ve seen definitely have 1 player doing most of the out of turn things. In each log there was one character that had 12+ of a singal action (Draw usually,) but the closest to 12 I can narrow it down to is 16. It definitely doesn’t have to be Guise, as I have seen a log where he only had a total of 9 out of turn actions.

He doesn’t even have to be up when the unlock happens, he can be incapped or not.

Which Villains and Environments don’t seem to matter. Likewise, Guise doesn’t seem to care which character is making the triggering action.

If there is a play Guise cards component, as the Weekly One-shot from August would suggest, I don’t know what the requirement is. At the end, I admit to being a little worn down. I wasn’t even paying attention to which cards were showing up in the logs, only counting the actions.

I think it might just be, across games containing Guise, perform one action out of turn 12 times, and another action 25 times.

Possibly in that order, possibly not. Possibly all in one game, possibly not. Probably not, in fact.
Or maybe it’s 12 in one game, but the type doesn’t matter, and 25 of one type across multiple games.

As for whether it’s related to specifically playing/drawing/powers, I don’t think it is. It may just be playing and drawing.

Also consider: this is Guise we’re talking about, the master of choices and multiple actions. You might have to meet multiple conditions, which might or might not have to be in the same game, and there might even be different ways to unlock.

I got mine in a game in which I was chaining actions like crazy with him. The unlocking move was stealing Dual Crowbars on Tempest’s turn using Kawaii.

He definitely triggered it on a draw, caused by Bulwark. Really really in the game, too; also, lots of people were drawing and playing cards out of turn, so it was hard to tell what was going on. Could it involve cards played and drawn by other heroes’ effects?

Good Lord… Not counting undos, Guise drew 77 cards in that match. It’s hard to keep track of the undos and the turn order, but it looks to 12 out-of-turn draws and 25 total draws at the unlock.

I think what we might be missing here is that most people are counting out of turn plays, powers, and draws to the condition. However, another thing that's in this match that's being given around is heals (through Argent Adept). Migrant P noted something peculiar about this one,

Maybe the thing we're missing is not the actual unlock condition (which could be 12 total instances of out-of-turn events and 25 total instances of that event), but the events that can trigger the unlock.

Can someone that hasn't unlocked him yet try a game that gets a total of 25 HP regained out of turn with Guise on the team and see if it triggers the unlock?

Also, feature request: Could there be a way to reset the unlock condition/progress on a character in the game so that, even though I've gained the achievement, I can try going through the events again to unlock the character?

I'm pretty sure my unlock game did not involve 25 HP of healing.  There would have been some, with Guise copying Inspiring Presence a time or two and playing a couple of Best Card Ever!s, so maybe 12, but not 25.  Although perhaps both might have included an attempt to heal Guise above his max HP?

My point is that people have unlocked Santa Guise without the unlock condition being a card draw. I'm wondering if we found the rule already, but missed one of the conditions that can trigger the unlock.

For example, "In a game with Guise, one hero must play a card, draw a card, use a power, or recover HP 12 times outside of their turn."

According to my log (attached above), I unlocked Santa Guise during the end of the environment turn after Selling Out let me play two one-shots (out of a max of three). It doesn't say cards are NOT part of the requirement, but it does say that it is not the only requirement and does not have to be the last thing you do.

I can confirm that I unlocked Santa Guise off a card play, specifically, playing Lemme See That on Dual Crowbars at the end of Tempest's turn via Super Ultra Kawaii.  Many plays, draws, and some healing took place before that, but this was the final action that triggered the unlock.

Hmm...back to the drawing board...

Question, has anyone unlocked the on anyone other than Guise drawing / playing a card outside of their turn? Not who uses the effect, but who receives it? It could be as simple as instead of being generic, it has to be focused on a Grinch being selfish before he gives out his presents.

In a game with Guise, have Guise draw a card, play a card, or use a power 25 times outside of his turn.

(That or could be mutually exclusive; either he can do any combination of those things, or he has to do specificially 25 of one of them)

I would test, but I don't have a copy of the game that doesn't already have it unlocked.

From MigrantP's posts, we know the important number is 25.  We also know we have all the information we need.

My log is incredibly weird, but I think I can rule out the Villain or Environment out-of-turn plays at least.  That's about all I can get from it as some weird things I did, like getting Guise to draw one of Sky-Scraper's Compulsion Cannisters into his own hand and then play it on his turn occurred (is this out of turn or not).  I'm also not sure if Sky-Scraper changing form is included as a 'play'.

However, there is a breakdown on the front page from a simpler log that has a combination I don't think we ever tried:

Play a game with regular Guise on the team.  Heroes must draw and/or put into play hero cards outside of their turn 25 times total.

Edit: Hm, seems that one was posited earlier and I missed it.  I'm going back to check some simpler logs, I guess.

Wait a sec... this could be a tweak of the wording.  Is it:

Play a game with regular Guise on the team.  Heroes must draw and/or put into play hero cards on other hero's turns 25 times total.

There seem to be too many card plays/draws in a few logs otherwise.  Could plays/draws in the Environment and Villain turns not count?

heya, just going to crosspost the post I made on the steam discussion board

"hey folks, been doing some digging on this.

above pastebin is log of a current attempt (and successful unlock) at the weekly one-shot from back in august, ghost of giftmas past. trigger happened precisely on AA’s 25th power/draw/play action out of turn. guise played zero cards and only drew two out of turn.
so, we have at least:

  • must have guise on the team, position irrelevant. a post above says guise was incap’ed on an unlock, so that also doesn’t matter
  • one hero must take 25 actions out of turn
  • what guise plays doesn’t matter
  • guise ~may~ need to take at least an action out of turn, i’ll check this later on my other comp
  • 25 is the only number in the unlock, as confirmed before. it was never specified that it only showed up once
  • so given the above, my crackpot theory is that guise’s deck must have less than 25 cards in it at the time of checking (guise in my game had 24 remaining, http://i.imgur.com/9eXVome.jpg )

and while typing this i think i figured out the common thread in everything.

  • you must take an action that allows everyone to draw a card. (bolster allies, F6 Tach). which answers the question of the above poster (what corresponds to santa guises first ability). i played bolster in my game, so this checks out
not 100% sure, but seems reasonable to me"

thoughts and stuff appreciated

I just wish the pieces were easier to find in the logs so we could get some counts a lot easier.

If anyone is willing to do sometests on this one, I think it would be beneficial to have some simpler logs that make it really easy for us to count things.  For example, we could do some tests against Ambuscade in Wagner Mars Base.  Meteor Storm will ensure you can test abilities with no risk of the Villain winning and the only things the heroes need to care about is skipping turns to destroy Self-Destruct Sequence.  Of course, don't forgetto bring Guise too.

Then we can try the following things:

  • Use regular The Visionary and do nothing except use her power to draw cards.  Focus on one hero, but maybe give a few cards to other heroes too, just to check what adds up to 25 exactly.
  • Use regular The Argent Adept and do nothing except play his cards in turn to get many uses out of Inspiring Supertonic to get another hero to use Powers.  Unty's Hasty Augmentation might also be useful in this test.
  • Do nothing except use Guise's cards like Super Ultra Kawaiii and Selling Out to play lots of cards out of turn.

I suppose we should also test combinations of the above.   Perhaps we should also test whether it's not cards drawn out of turn, but cards drawn outside the Draw Phase as well.  That would be easy enough to test with The Visionary using her power on herself and so on.
