Tried beating Iron Legacy with 4/6 of the Freedom Six, no dice.
Had him eventually draw his entire deck with localized hurricane out since turn one then destroy it before killing the main villian with squall.
Team/Villian/Map: Tempest, Unity, Bunker, Tachyon/Baron Blade/Wagner Mars Base
Unlock status: FAILURE
Another double run, so another double post.
I just did another double unlock run. Based on info I had seen, I became convinced that getting TL Tachyon really just had to do with playing Fleet of Foot lots and lots of times (thus emulating her ability). Also, based on what I'd seen, I was convinced that getting Tempest was mostly about drawing a lot and probably dying with 2 copies of Localized Hurricane (or at least getting both out).
I played against Ambuscade in the Time Cataclysm, the team was Argent Adept, Scholar, Expatriette, Tempest, and Tachyon (in that order).
I basically used Vernal Sonata, Don't Dismiss Anything, and Reclaim from the Deep to cycle Fleet of Foot (and each other) around over and over. I got Localized Hurricane early and thus eventually drew Tempest's entire deck, and got both Hurricanes out. I did a lot of self-inflicted damage with hurricane, using Sub-wave Inducer to make it all lightning damage. In the end, Tachyon killed him with Sucker Punch, so he definitely doesn't need to die from Lightning Damage. I also used Cleansing Downpour a lot, because I thought that given the name "Sacrifice" maybe he needed to take far more than his actual HP total?
Just to be "safe" I did end the game with FoFx3 -> Lightspeed Barrage to win, but I've done that several times already, so I'm not sure it's necessary. Also, Tachyon was at 12 (above 10) and the other 3 were at or near max, so health shouldn't be an issue. Tempest was down, but that's it.
My current theory:
After losing a game against Iron Legacy that included Tempest, win a game in which Tempest draws his whole deck and is incapacitated (possibly with Localized Hurricane in play?), Legacy can't be on the team.
It's not this simple; I've done this – drawn literally the entire deck – and not gotten it.
Several people have been theorizing that it requires playing both Localized Hurricanes and/or Otherworldly Resilience; has anyone gotten the unlock without these?
Got it! Had Tempest's entire deck in hand, a copy of Resistence, Shackles, Hail Storm, two Downpours, and probably the most important in my opinion, both Localized Hurricanes. I incap'd Tempest with a hurricane and won the match.
Incapping self with a Localized Hurricane make sense...sacrifice...I'll try it when I get a chance.
I got it with:
1. Lose vs. Iron Legacy.
2. Win with Tempest incapped after having two localized hurricanes and using them at least 3 times.
Something missing. Did Ambuscade in IP vs TL Tachy, AA, Haka, Scholar, and Tempest.
Tempest had 2 hurricanes in play and used the power at least 5 times, no unlock.
Again, look at my post. I incapped Tempest WITH the Hurricane and got the unlock. Try that.
I don't think I had 2 hurricanes in play; just one.
I tried using both Hurricane's, and using the power at least 3 times... with the final time downing Tempest....
No unlock. But i didn't pop out any of his euqipment cards.
On the Steam forum, people are reporting they unlocked with only one Localized Hurricane out. I think that's a red herring.
For what it's worth, this failed to unlock:
Has anyone unlocked without Otherworldly Resilience in play? Without shuffling the trash into the deck? Without the rest of the team finishing <10hp?
Well, I did have my entire deck in my hand
Failed.
I tried a very very simple run. 4 heroes vs. Apostate in Temple of Anubis. Tempest, Dark Visionary, Argent Adept, Super-Scientific Tachyon.
I only played one Localized Hurricane, Grevious Hailstorm, and a bunch of other random things. I used Localized Hurricane and KOed Tempest with it. I used Localized Hurricane more than 3 times I think.
Dark Visionary got the KO.
I'll try again later with much more detailed notes to try and figure out what matches other unlocks.
failed:
Given that this is Sacrifice Tempest, some folks on the Steam forums are theorizing that at least one of Tempest's equipment or ongoing cards must be destroyed, in addition to other unlock conditions -- this would track with my unlock, at least. I also believe Tempest must be the only incapacitated hero.
So, my guess is:
*Lose to Iron Legacy in previous game
*At least one Tempest ongoing/equipement destroyed
*Tempest gets incapped with all his cards either in hand or in play
*No other heroes get incapped, and they go on to win the game
*No version of Legacy is on the team
That's not quite it, because I just failed with:
Other things that might be of note:
Unlocked.
4 hero game vs. Gloomweaver in The Final Wasteland.
Argent Adept, Tempest, Omnitron-X, Chrono Ranger.
I played every single copy of Tempest's cards. One-shots, equipments, ongoings. I played Localized Hurricane twice. I destroyed Localized Hurricane once. I Destroyed most of his equipments and ongoings.
Tempest was KOed by Omnitron-X. Omnitron-X then used a Singularity to KO every non-hero target in the game.
All heroes were above 15 HP except for Tempest (obviously).
Tempest hit himself several times with Localized Hurricane. I also hit Tempest with Chrono Ranger and Omnitron-X. Argent Adept did not deal damage to Tempest that I can recall.
How do I access the play log? I'll post it here so all can view it.
Failed Attempt.
Tempus, Team-Lead Tachyon, Argent Adept, Omnitron-X, and Scholar vs. Ambuscade in the Block.
I got out localized hurricane, went through most of his deck. Incapped Tempus in the last round using his own localized hurricane. Finished Ambuscade off with Omnitron-X.
Things I didn't do
unlocked!
What I did this time that was different from (some of) my previous attempts which might be of note:
What was the same as previous attempts:
Things that have been mentioned that I don't think are useful, but in case I'm wrong, the following was also true: final hp of the rest of the team is probably irrelevant. I had a mix of >10hp and <10hp. Also probably irrelevant: In addition to Tempest, the team had had F6 Tachyon, Wraith, Haka, and DW Expatriette, vs. Spite in Atlantis. Used Cleaning Downpour multiple times. One ongoing was destroyed (Otherworldly Resilience, I believe, and it stayed gone for awhile before another copy was played)
Got the unlock.
Team was F6 Tachyon, F6 Wraith, Tempest, Ra, Visionary vs. Ambuscade in the Final Wasteland.
Won the game with Tempest incapacitated. No other hero was below 10 hp -- Wraith was at 11, all other heroes were above 20.
When Tempest was knocked out, I had Localized Hurricane, Otherworldly Resilience, Elemental Sub-Wave inducer, and Cleansing Downpour in play. He also had more than 20 cards in his hand.
I had used the powers on both Localized Hurricane and Cleansing Downpour, including damaging himself with the Hurricane.
I had played both Aquatic Correspondence and Return to the Deep. And Chain Lightning, FWIW.
Ra knocked him out with friendly fire.
Got the win on Tempest's turn by using his incap ability to allow Ra to use a power, and the unlock appearred.
Any of the other unlocks come on Tempest's incap turn?
Provided it was one of your two previous games, check the following directory:
C:\Users<Your username>\AppData\LocalLow\Handelabra Games Inc_\Sentinels
log.txt is your most recent game, log-copy.txt will be the one before that.
Sev reported it too. He said: Used an incapacitated power exactly once (Another hero may use a power, with which Expatriette dealt the final blow)
I got it by way of brute force.
Ambuscade in IP vs TL Tachy, Haka, Scholar, AA, and Tempest.
Ongoing played 2 hurricanes, other worldly resistance, his armor card, cleansing downpour shielding winds, and cyclone.
One Shots played everything but ball lightning.
Incapped with an empty deck, by huricane.
Didn't kill ambuscade until haka was ready to take him out in one shot. Activated the power (savage mana, fuled by 2 haka of battle) during Tempest's incapped turn. Got the unlock after the effect resolved.
Only theory right now is Temest's incap power leading to victory.
Ah, sorry, I misread mightyshoop's post. I thought he was saying that the unlock screen popped up as soon as he used Tempest's power, before the game was over. I somehow missed the part where he said he won the game on Tempest's turn.
I wonder if using Tempest's incap power to allow others to do damage is relevant? Specifically, I've seen multiple people say they got the unlock when Tempest granted a power use to someone who then dealt the final blow. I just unlocked it myself in that scenario as well. It makes sense for the variant's 'sacrifice' power thematically, if not mechanically.
It's interesting that the unlock popped for you on Tempest's incap turn. I haven't seen anyone else reporting that, so I wonder if it's a bug, similar to the Wraith's unlock coming up early for a few people. In any case it seems like a pretty strong hint that his incap power is relevant to one of the conditions.
Finally got it.
I'm suspicious that the combination might be close to:
Blah blah lose to Legacy Legacy not on team
Localized Hurricane and Unearthly Resilience in Play
Play Aquatic Communication, Gene-Bound Shackles, Return to the Deep, and Into the Stratosphere
Tempest must be incapacitated
Team must win
It seemed like either Chrono-Ranger on team or Gene-Bound Shackles destroyed might be important, but I see successes without them. It took a lot of failed tries to hit the magic combination. Got it by playing every card at least once except for Elemental Subwave Inducer, Lightning Slash, and Vicious Cyclone. Did have two of his cards destroyed (Electrical Storm and Gene-Bound Shackles)
I did *not* use Tempest's incap powers. I *did* use Cleansing Downpour, Localized Hurricane (including to drop Tempst), and his base power, I believe that's it.
My unlock, I never played the Shackles, and no ongoings or equipment cards of Tempest’s were ever destroyed.
Has anyone unlocked without tempest being incappacitated by friendly fire? It matches all the posts I see so far.
Just a thought, can't test right now.
Has anybody unlocked without Gene-Bound Shackles having been played at some point during the game?
Me.
I had the subwave transducer, resilience, hurricane, and downpour.
Shackles never entered play, nor did any other ongoing.
Common themes appear to be:
I'm amusing myself with the idea that one criteria is "must draw at least 25 cards," since that's the hp of the variant, but I've not ever kept track of exactly how many cards I've drawn. Wish I'd kept the logfile of the unlock.
I definitely did. Tempest received plenty of friendly fire to drain his HP, but the final blow was dealt by the villain – specifically, Tempest hit Ambuscade while his Reactive Plating was out and was killed by the damage.
Yeah, I had Resilience out, but destroyed it with Omnitron-X's Flechettes to speed up the process of incapping Tempest once I'd played a bunch of his cards.
Just tried the aquatic correspondence and localized hurricane combo to draw a bunch of cards in one turn. No unlock so that does not appear to be the solution. Any ideas and I will test them out.
I think it’s just as simple as:
Given that a common theme is Aquatic Correspondence, Reclaim from the Deep, and Localized Hurricane, I'm thinking it may be use all of Tempest's cards that allow him to draw, have him incapactied, then win. That was the plan I used when I unlocked him, also had Otherworldly Resilience out (didn't play any other equipment/ongoing other than Hurricane) and did some friendly fire.
Not quite that simple – I played many games that fit that criteria before I got the unlock, & several other people on this thread have said the same.
I think djwewasson may be on to something with using all the card-drawing cards at least once – my unlock was absolutely the first time I'd played all three of Localized Hurricane, Reclaim from the Deep, and Aquatic Correspondence. EDIT: though it looks like there's one post on the Steam forums that suggests that Aquatic Correspondence is not necessary. Maybe it's Reclaim from the Deep + Localized Hurricane, or "play three cards that let you draw cards" or "draw at least n(10?) cards outside the card-drawing phase? (there are a lot of unlocks that have Tachyon involved, I've noticed – not all of them, but she does have Fleet of Foot & TLT's Team Leader power that make others draw cards)
waedens, did you use Reclaim from the Deep at all in the game you posted about yesterday?
No I did not. I will test the use all card drawing cards and see if that does the trick.
Unlocked.
I think you're onto something with playing the cards that let you draw. Previously, I was trying to get through Temptest's deck because the general thinking was about having certain ongoings out, so I ignored Reclaim from the Deep most of the time. I just played a match making sure I played Reclaim, Acquatic Correspondance, and Localized Hurricane (and using its power) at least once each, then knocked him out and finished the game. Got the unlock. Pretty much everybody had about their entire decks in hand (thx TLT), not all survivors were over 20 hp, but at least close.
Team was TL Tachyon, AA, Omni, Tempest, and Fixer, against Ambuscade in dino land.
Just tried winning with Tempest as the only incapped hero, having drawn exactly 10 cards outside of his turn (Legacy, TLT, and Visionary). No unlock.
Just got the unlock. I am now thinking it is something like this:
Lose to Legacy with Tempest on team. Win against any villian with Tempest incapacitiated. Tempest must have played localized hurricane, Other worldly resilience, reclaime from the deep and aquatic correspondence.
I have to note that I did have gene bound shackles in play.
It has been a while, but I don't think I had Otherworldly Resilience in play.
I unlocked it today without Otherworldly Resilience. I did play Aquatic Correspondence, the Hurricane, Reclaim from the Deep and I had Shackles in play. Tempest got knocked out by a Block Guard. I drew his entire deck and had all cards in hand or in play when he was knocked out.
Got it. It definitely has something to do with Tempest getting his own card draw. I tried a bunch of permutations listed above and didn't get it. I got it with a "feed me moar" team of SS Tachyon, Omni, and AA against Gloomweaver. I made sure Tempest played the Aquatic card at least 4 times and also used Localized Hurricane at least 5-6 times. Got the knockout on Tempest with a Lightspeed barrage, then used his incap power to Rocket Punch the boss to death. He didn't get a lot of card draw from anyone else.
Tempest with Localized Hurricane out, fished Aquatic Correspondance out a few times and self-drew 15+ cards before being the only incapped hero in a victory against Ambuscade.
No unlock.
ok. Here are all the cards I used:
A correspondance x1
Reclaim Ftd x1
L hurricane x1
O resistance x1
gb shackles x1
l slash x1
chain L x1
Flash flood x1
powers used = base + LH (both multiple)
perhaps there is some electrical damage requirement
I finally got the unlock.
F6 Tachyon, Tempest, Omnitron-X, Argent Adept, and Visionary vs. Gloomweaver in Wagner Mars Base.
I brute force spammed card draw on Tempest so that he had to play or discard a card so that he could reshuffle his trash into the deck & draw the card he had just used. I used Aquatic Correspondence several times, used Localized Hurricane practically every turn, and had Gene-Bound Shackles & Otherworldly Resilience in play. Tempest was incapped just before I defeated Gloomweaver, but I did not use any of his incap abilities.
Unfortunately, I didn't narrow things down any closer to the actual unlock conditions. I just took everything that seemed to work and turned them up to 11.
I'll try these conditions tonight. I had a failed unlock with the same conditions, but I did not play Reclaim from the Deep. I'm thinking maybe this has the same importance as aquatic correspondence, and based on others' unlocks Unworldly Resiliance is not necessary.
I just unlocked him. I played Baron Blade vs Omnitron X, Tempest, TL Tachyon, and Wraith. My goal was to play Tempest's three cards that draw (Aquatic Correspondence, Reclaim from the Deep, Localized Hurricane) and win the game with Tempest incapacitated. I ended up drawing a lot of cards in the process, but my plan worked. I didn't win using Tempest's incap power. At the end of the game, Tempest had two Localized Hurricanes in play as well as Shielding Winds and Genebound Shackles. I never played any other ongoing cards with him.
To narrow yours down, my unlock had only one Localized Hurricane and no Shielding Winds in play, and Haka instead of Wraith, and Vs Gloomweaver instead of Baron Blade in the Final Wasteland. I did use Tempest's Incap Power twice before finally winning.
Oh god damn it - I totally forgot about the "No Legacy on the team" requirement. Ignore my results! I've been playing with all kinds of Legacys.
LOL - That might explain a few things. MigrantP has not chimed in to say we nailed it so I wouldn't sweat it too much, but I think we were on the right track.
I clearly rock at puzzles. :P
Has anyone tried using Tempest to destroy an Akash limb...you know...because symmetry?
I unlocked him, but it won't be useful because I covered multiple options.
My main focus was on making him draw a shitton of cards, so i played with Team Leader Tachyon, Argent Adept, Tempest (of course), Omnitron and Nightmist
Incapped through self damage and friendly fire (kill shot went to omnitron-X).
Had entire deck in hand or in play by the end, and played all three draw cards at least once. One Localized Hurricane in play, as well as a bunc h of other things including electrical storm (though i destroyed it later), genebound shackles and otheworldly resistance (also destroyed), and vicious cyclone.
Incap powers were never used, though. So there is that down.
Current theory is either:
Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Tempest on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Tempest and without a legacy on the team. Tempest must be the only hero incapacitated, and he must have shuffled his deck at least once.
OR
Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Tempest on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Tempest and without a legacy on the team. Tempest must be the only hero incapacitated, and he must have drawn at least 10* cards other than normal draw.
OR BOTH:
Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Tempest on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Tempest and without a legacy on the team. Tempest must be the only hero incapacitated; he must have drawn at least 10* cards other than normal draw and have shuffled his deck at least once.
*I'm not sure what number this is. 10 was suggested before and not disproved, as far as I know
EDIT: posts on steam indicate shuffling the trash is not required. So final hyothesis is the second one.
I just unlocked him. Was playing Tachyon, AA, Tempest, Omnitron-X, Mr. Fixer. I played Tempest's draw 3 cards card at least 4 times and won using Tempest's incap power to make Mr. Fixer deal lightning damage.
Tempest drew at least 20 extra cards from localized hurricane, Team Leader Tachyon, AA's extra draw cards and ongoings.
If this is on the right track, here's some data from my unlock to help nail down how many cards might be required and where they need to come from. When I unlocked F6 Tempest:
Just chiming in - there might be a restriction that the card draw has to come from Tempest. Just tried it out with the following:
) Haka, Visionary, Scholar, Tempest, Chrono Ranger vs Plague Rat in Insula Primalis
) Tempest drew 11 cards outside of his turn, but only five were from his own deck; the rest were Visionary-granted.
) Tempest was the only hero incapacitated.
) Tempest used his incap power once to protect Chrono-Ranger from toxic damage.
*) I didn't have Localized Hurricane out.
No unlock off that combination.
And that's what I missed. Did not play Reclaim in any of the attempts I did last night.
