Engine of war is Fright Train. So what cards currently available does he appear on? Flak Cannon and Maintenance Level (Mars Base). Any others?

I've tried various things countless times with him.

Tried having him go through each mode two times a piece before the game was over.

Tried having him draw all his cards.

Tried having all his equipment out.

Tried having him deal the last hit with 1 hp left.

Tried having him shoot all his teammates ko,ing them then with the last shot ko the villian.

Tried having him do max damage with his omni cannon with his entire deck underneath it, minus that one card.

Tried throwing my iPad across the room.

Unlock status: Failure

Bunker gets incapitated by Iron Legacy in the Block with the card depicting him smashing bunker while Prison Riot (?) is out?

Someone on steam just unlocked Bunker variant by having Bunker incapped in the block vs. Blade–a prison riot happened, and I think the unlock came at the end of the game.

Just got both Golem Unity and Engine of War Bunker in the same game.  Team was:

Argent Adept, (normal) Bunker, Omnitron-X, Unity vs. Baron Blade in the Block

Based on some stuff from the Steam forums, I thought that Bunker dying in the Block (where Fright Train is seen) was a good idea.  I thought that Prison Riot might be a necessary component, but I never saw it, so I guess it isn't.

I basically used AA and O-X to give Unity tons of card plays while Bunker used Grenade Launcher on various targets and stacked up the Omni-Cannon.  Once Unity had a fleet of bots, I had Bunker Omni-Cannon himself and then I let Unity's bots start hitting herself to get her down to 6.  Raptor bot won the game with a hit for 12 against the Baron.

I started using O-X on The Block to try for Prison Riot, but never saw it (or apparently needed it).

Prior to this game (based on advice from both forums) I lost 2 games against Iron Legacy using various Freedom Six team comps.

So, to make my guess......

For Engine of War,

Lose to Iron Legacy with him, and then win a game where Bunker is incapacitated in the Block.

(possibly using Omni-cannon?)

Based on what I've seen my guess is that first Bunker has to be incapacitated in a game against Iron Legacy then be Incapacitated in a game in the Block against Baron Blade and go on to win the game.

That's not quite enough -- I've just beaten Blade in the Block with Bunker incapped, and saw Flak Cannon, Omni-Cannon, Prison Riot and the Warden, with no unlock. (Legacy, Bunker, Argent Adept, Tempest, Rook City Wraith)

Folks on the Steam forums are speculating that there needs to be a Shattered Timelines hero present, so I tried the same setup but with Chrono-Ranger instead of Argent Adept -- still no unlock.

Tried the same setup again, but with Omnitron-X -- still no dice.

Tried again after having Blade incapacitate Young Legacy in the Mars Base, still nothing.

So, the following isn't sufficient (though may be necessary)

*Absolute Zero, Bunker, Tachyon, Tempest, Unity, and Wraith all previously defeated by Iron Legacy

*Young Legacy has previously been incapacitated by Baron Blade in the Wagner Mars Base

*Bunker incapacitated in the Block, against Baron Blade

---With Chrono-Ranger present

---With Omnitron-X present

*Prison Riot was played

*Warden Hoeffle was played

*Baron Blade then defeated

I unlocked him vs Baron Blade in The Block with Tachyon in front (still trying to get TLT) and Omnitron-X and DV behind. I had Turret Mode and most of his equipment in play when he was knocked out, but never even saw an Omni-Cannon. Omni-X killed him with friendly fire. Prison Riot had come out but the Warden was never in play. I lost a game vs Iron Legacy with Bunker earlier, but not the game right before the unlock.

Just did something similar and got the same unlocks.

Team was Ra, Tachyon, Bunker, Visionary, Unity vs. BB in the Block.

I had previously let Iron Legacy lay the smack down on the entire Freedom 6 less Tempest.

On the last turn, I had Tachy KO Bunker with a lightspeed barrage. Unity had all 5 Freedom Bots in play plus Mr. Chomps, and was at 5 HP. Mr. Chomps got the final hit, both Engine of War and Golem Unity unlocked.

Never saw Prison Riot, but did see Lock down.

Shatered timeline hero is definately not necisary I unlocked with AZ, Tachyon, Bunker, Wraith and Unity after having the exact same team beat up by Iron Legacy.

Other things of note:

Prison Riot did not show but Lockdown did

Warden did not show but the boss inmate did.

Flack Cannon was played in my game but I have seen reports where it wasn't

Mr Chomps got the last shot on both Bunker and Blade

I've heard an unsubstatiated report that he was unlocked against Akasha in the Block

I think one more factor in unlocking any of the Freedom Six variants is that Legacy isn't in the team.

I could be wrong though. Anyone have evidence to disprove my theory?

Unlocked both myself using a very similar method.  Lost to Iron Legacy (not advanced) with (in order) Tachyon, Bunker, Unity, Omnitron, Argent in the Block.  Took all of two turns lol.  After that, went straight into a standard Blade in the Block.  Had Bunker in front, followed in order by Unity, Omni and AA.  No Tachyon for this fight.  Put 12 golems in play by the end, including all of the Five, with a raptor getting the last shot in on an empty field (no other targets except heroes and Blade).  Unity was at 9HP, Bunker was incap'd, AA and Omni were at 20+.

Notes:

Blade had 15 cards in the trash at the end of his last turn before flipping.

The environment did cycle itself once.

No Omni-Cannon.  the only cards Bunker played were Flak Cannon, Grenade Launcher, Foam Grenade, his retrieve-equip-from-trash card and Aux Power Source, which were used for Unity's bots and a single instance of flak+grenade.  Didn't play a single mode card.  That might be the key.

For Unity, all of the Five bots did use their special abilities at least once.  All damage dealing bots did at least one instance of damage, some against Bunker.

Unfortunately, the Multiverse section of the app only says "Info coming soon," so we can't mine that for more data.

Here's my working hypothesis:

"Have Bunker incapacitated by Iron Legacy. Then win a game in the Block while Bunker is incapacitated."

With possible addition of "Flak Cannon must have entered play." I don't remember if it did when I got the unlock. It definitely was not in play when Bunker was incapped.

Lost to Iron Legacy then played against Baron Blade in the Block

Incapped by Omni Cannon.

Didn't have Legacy on my team

Omnicannon and Grenade Launcher.  No Flak Cannon.

Saw both Char and the head Warden.

No Lock Down or Prison Riot.

F6 Bunker unlocked.

Hope this helps.

Edit:  My team was Bunker, Argent Adept, Omnitron X, Unity, Dark Visionary.

Unlocked with Bunker, Omnitron X, and DW Expatriette. Bunker was incapped by F.I.L.T.E.R. Officer while Lockdown & Warden Hoffle were in play. Went through the entire environment deck. Bunker had Turret Mode up when he went down, as well as nearly all his equipment -- Auxiliary Power Source had been spent earlier, but I think all the other equipment as well as Ammo Drop were in play. Bunker took lots of damage from the environment, both inmates and agents. Blade flipped from damage dealt by the environment.

The fight was unexpectedly brutal -- Blade got both Living Force Fields out at once, and played Devious Disruption twice.

(prior to this game, Bunker had been incapped by Iron Legacy twice -- once Unity/AZ/Tachyon/Bunker/Wraith & lost, once GI Bunker/Grandpa Legacy/Tachyon/AZ/Wraith & won, plus one win vs Iron Legacy where Bunker was not incapped.)

I attempted the dual unlock for Bunker and Unity. Got Unity, did not get Bunker.

Had Omni, AA, Bunker, Unity and Dark Vis(in that order) fighting Baron Blade in the Block. Using Omni+AA+Dark Viz shenanigans I got out a mess of Unity's bots and had out all FV Bots(for at least one round so they could each do their thing) along with 3 raptors, a Bee-bot(which died) and a Platform Bot. Bunker played Upgrade Mode(which left play) along with Omni-Cannon and Flac Gun and had it charged up to 9 cards. I tried to perform a self-kill with him but had one point left, so Turret Bot finished him off. With a Raptor bot Biting unity down to 7 hp, Unity's bots won the game.

I had both lose a game against Iron Legacy a few games prior.

Unlock success.  Bunker vs Blade in the Block.  Also had Omni, SS Tach, Tempest, and Golem Unity.  Bunker was incapped by Unity's bots, same turn that they finished off blade.

Fired the Omni-cannon once.  Drew a lot of cards to charge it up, but highest it ever got was 8.  Sounded like he needed to die, so I avoided playing his armor or the Maintenance Unit.

Saw a Prison Riot, but I think someone already ruled that out.  Saw a couple agents, but not the warden.  Think I saw at least one of each of the inmates.

If previous games matter, I had already both won and lost against Iron Legacy, Bunker on the team both times.  I'd also had Blade land the finishing blow to Young Legacy on Wagner Mars Base, the thing that made Iron Legacy exist in the first place.  Don't know if those make a difference, but it made sense according to the story.

Unlocked.

3 hero game in the Block vs. Blade Blade.  Bunker, Fanatic, Visionary.

I do not recall losing to Iron Legacy previously, but it probably happened.

Prison Riot occurred 3 times at least.

Fired the Omni-Cannon once for 26 damage to Blade's flipped side.

Char went off at start of environment and KOed Bunker and then Blade.

My current theory:

After losing a game against Iron Legacy that included Bunker, win a game in which Bunker is incapacitated in the Block, Legacy can't be on the team.

I unlocked him tonight.

Vs. Baron Blade in the Block

Tachyon, Bunker, Fanatic, Haka, Unity.

I placed Embolden on Bunker early to whittle down his hitpoints.  I did play Omni Cannon and fired it twice.  I did not play any Mode cards (fed them to the Omni cannon).

Prison Break did come out three times.

Bunker was incapacitated in the round that I won.

I have played Bunker previously in a multiplayer game against Iron Legacy... and lost soundly.

Failed unlock, trying to replicate stephenwoman's results.

Bunker, Unity, Omnitron-X, and AA vs Baron Blade in the Block.

Bunker played only Flak Cannon, Grenade Launcher, Foam Grenade, Decomissioned Hardware, and Aux Power Source. Played no mode cards. Cycled through the environment once and saw all of its cards. Bunker was incapped by a Raptor Bot and then Unity dealt the final blow to Blade. Still no unlock, so there's still some component missing.

Got the unlock. BB in Block vs TL Tachy, AA, Bunker, Scholar, and Fixer

Omni cannon in play, never fired. No modes played. Incaped bunker by Fixer (dual crowbars) in the same turn BB was taken out. Bunker layed Adhesive Grenade, Omni-cannon, armor, Flak, and repair.

Environment only played 3 cards: Char and 2 lockdowns.

Looks like it's:

Lose to Iron Legacy with Bunker on team, then:

Fight Baron Blade at The Block.  (Regular?) Bunker must be incapacitated with Omni-Cannon in play (and Grenade Launcher/Flak Cannon?) and no Modes, then win the game.  [EDIT]And no Legacy on team[/EDIT]

Have not had a chance to test this yet, though.

I just tested it and it worked. Bunker dead with Omni-Cannon, Grenade Launcher, Flak Cannon out, no modes. Omnitron-X, Dark Visionary and TL Tachyon lived. Bunker got killed by Tachyon rebounding Baron Blade's attack into him.

I don't think Omni-Cannon is required, as at least one person above reported unlocking the variant without it. And I've done the remaining conditions without getting the unlock.

EDIT: Okay, I just unlocked the variant and I'm pretty sure I've figured out the condition. In addition to getting incapped during the battle, Bunker has to discard a certain number of mode cards, or maybe have them in his trash at the end of the game. This ties in with Engine of War's power, which involves discarding mode cards.

I think this is why people are having success with Omni-Cannon even though it's not strictly required: it's one of the easiest ways to discard Bunker's cards, and since there was a theory that you couldn't play any mode cards (not sure if that part is true or not) most people were probably using mode cards as cannon fuel.

I had six mode cards in my trash at the end of the game, so here's my guess for the unlock condition:

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. At least (3? 4? 5?) mode cards must be discarded, and Bunker must be incapacitated at the end of the battle.

I'm not positive about the number of mode cards, and there may be other conditions too (like playing Flak Cannon/Grenade Launcher, or not playing certain cards) but the other F6 unlocks have been pretty straightforward so I feel like this is pretty close.

You may be right about the discarding Mode cards.  I just unlocked FT Bunker using a team of Scholar, Classic Visionary, AA, Classic Tachyon, and Bunker fighting Baron Blade at The Block.  Bunker had Recharge Mode in play since turn 1, skipped a few turns to draw cards.  Visionary always pointed her power at Bunker who discarded a Mode card each time.  All told, he discarded ~ modes thanks to AA's Vernal Sonatas.  On the second to last turn, I had him switch from Recharge to Upgrade, played Omni-Cannon, then on the final turn I loaded up the Cannon with 2 Modes, played a Grenade Launcher, and switched to Turret Mode, then fired the Cannon and Launcher.  Char finished off Bunker and Blade at the same time and I got the unlock.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think it's something more like:

Lose to Iron Legacy, then without a Legacy on your team, win a game in the Block where Bunker is incapacitated and has mode cards in the trash.  Specifically either 1 of each, or 4 or more mode cards in the trash at the time he is knocked out.

i just unlocked him.  it was regular Bunker, TLTachyon (god she's awesome), regular Fixer, and regular Scholar vs. Baron from the Block.  i had Flak Cannon, Grenade Launcher, that healing thingy, Omni-Cannon, Gatling Gun, that Plating - which i think is all of his equipments - and Ammo Drop out at the time of Bunker's incapacitation.  i went through each Bunker mode one time each, although i don't think i was in any at the time of Bunker's incapacitation.  i do not believe i used any of his one-shots.  i did use his innate power once or twice at the beginning of the game.  i beat Baron Blade with a card played by someone as a result of Bunk's dead power.

i previously lost a game to Iron Legacy with Bunker on the team, of course.

Definitely not that.  And that seems even more convoluted than Horus Ra or Dark Watch Fixer or Nightmist.  When I unlocked FT Bunker, I only loaded 3 cards into the Cannon:  1 Recharge, 1 Turret, and 1 non-Mode card (Foam Grenade?  I can't remember).  I did have all three modes in the trash.

Just unlocked him at the same time as TLT.

I was actually only trying for TLT, so I fought Baron Blade in Insular Pimalis with Bunker, Tachyon, Ra, Wraith, and Visionary.  I wanted to use Bunker's incap ability to cycle "Fleet of Foot" cards through Tachyon's trash, so he went down fairly quickly.  I might have had mode cards in the trash as we ran into two "Lava Flow" cards and had to discard a number of cards right befor Bunker was knocked out.  I did not play any mode cards. Beat Baron Blade and got both unlocks at victory screen.

Also, lost to Iron Legacy, with both on the team, prior to this fight.  So my guess:

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team.  Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without Legacy on the team.  Bunker must be incapacitated by the environment.

EDIT:  Oops just read the first page and it looks like Chrismith85 had pretty much the same as I have above - only two days ago.  I think my experience supports his unlock condition.

EDIT 2: Checked the log file and only had "External Combustion" and "Auxiliary Power Source" in Bunker's trash. He was taken out by the Lava Flow.  Amending my guess.

That does not appear to be correct.  riff.freelance got the Unlock by using Mr. Fixer to incap Bunker via Friendly Fire.

There has to be something else that triggers. NO UNLOCK.

Ambuscade vs TL Tachy, F6 SubZ, Chrono, Tempest and Bunker

Discarded 2 modes to get rid of an obsidian field and the last mode for Chrono's discard card. Trash had all 3 modes (plus a few more from River of Lava discards).

I played a bit silly and Tachy, Tempest and Bunker were down before Chrono took out Ambuscade on the villain turn (thanks to the bounty).

So either Bunker needs to be the ONLY one down or there is some other condition.  Will try again now.

It's definitely not Bunker dies with all three modes in the trash - though in my case, I suicided Bunker off of Baron Blade's lightning shield so he didn't die to the environment.

One question, though, regarding getting whacked by Iron Legacy beforehand.  (Which is fortunately really easy to do :( ) - does the game you die on with Iron Legacy HAVE to be immediately before the one where you try for the unlock?

Agreed that it's neither how many mode cards you have in the trash or getting incapped by the environment. I had only two modes in the trash, and Bunker was taken out by chain lightning, and I got the unlock.

No, Iron Legacy defeat doesn't have to come immediately before. I had quite a few games between the defeat and the unlock.

I skipped each of his turns, but ended up with flak cannon, adhesive grenade, and ammo drop in the trash from attacks, and only those 3. I incapped him with the first hit from a chain lightning, and defeated Baron Blade with the second hit. Lost to IL a while ago with Bunker.

I suspect it has something to do with the amount of damage being done to Bunker in a turn or round. How quickly did you incap him?

I just unlocked him. Was against Blade. I used the omnicannon to incap himself. Did 24 damage. One of each of the mode cards was under the cannon. I did fire all of his guns. Including Gatling. Hope this helps with the data.

This is pretty true of all the variant unlocks: I've played against / defeated Spite once, like two months ago, but that didn't prevent me from unlocking Spite: Agent of Doom when I got around to achievement-whoring over the past few days. I didn't have to play against Spite another time; I just continued "where I left off", so to speak.

When I unlocked him, the damage done to Bunker was in small amounts. He didn't get hit for more than 5-10 hp in a single round. However, when I used omni-cannon on Baron Blade, it hit for 22hp. Maybe it has to do with the amount of damage Bunker does in a single turn or round?

That could be a a piece of it. Perhaps it is:

Be defeated by iron legacy with regular bunker on the team. Then defeat any Villian with all 3 mode cards in the trash. Bunker must have done at least 10 points of damage in one round and have been incapacitated during the battle.

It should be noted that I had 3 modes cards in the trash (1 of each) so no more that that should be needed.

I incapacitated him little by little. It took probably about 8 rounds, more or less. He didn't deal any damage when I unlocked him, so I don't think that's part of it. Maybe it has to do with having a certain amount of modes in your hand when getting incapacitated?

No that can't be it. I had no mode cards in my hand and only the 3 in my trash. I had bunker fire each of his weapons, but it sounds like you didn't. It doesn't make sense for the unlock, but I will note I used auxiliary power source to draw cards. Maybe that's important. Because of TLT I drew a total of 5 cards in one round (TLT, APS, normal draw). I did also use his base power to draw a card at one point.

Hmm. Yeah, I have no idea, then. But come to think of it, I think I did use a lightspeed barrage for 11 damage on Bunker at one point. Maybe it is that he has to take a hit of a certain amount of damage at some point during the fight. I wish I could be more accurate to help. To go along with what PeterCHayward said earlier.

In my unlock Bunker incapped himself with a shot from an Omnicannon that had 9 cards under it.

I thought I had just played Turret Mode, but I could be wrong.

I had don't remember playing either recharge or upgrade mode, but I might have loaded them into the Omnicannon.

I honestly can't remember.

I was fighting Baron Blade in the Block.

Hope this helps

I only had two modes in the trash when Bunker was incapped, so I don't think that's it. He was also incapped little by little and didn't get dealt much damage in the final round. I never had Omni Cannon out (neither had my wife, who unlocked him previously on her device), so Bunker never dealt that much damage in a single turn. He was using either flak cannon or grenade launcher (but never both, as I never got turret mode out) to deal damage.

A card that my wife and I both played that we thought might be needed was external combustion. Other cards we both played were the weapons I mentioned above, ammo drop and adhesive foam grenade. I know I never played auxiliary power source. But between TLT and ammo drop, I was drawing a decent amount of cards, so that may be it.

Here's a theory:

Suffer a defeat from Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must be incapacitated. External Combustion must have been played at least once.

EDIT: Edited theory to add "without a Legacy" bit.

unlocked

in the block, against baron blade. He incapped himself. I discarded all the mode cards to gattling gun

I used Omni, flak cannon, grenade launcher during the game. Omni did 18 damage to blades elemental redistributor

He incapped himself

I also used auxilary power supply to gain additional power uses (two of them on the last turn he was played)

i played each equipment except heavy plating.

many of those equipment were beneath Omni when it fired.

he was incapped on the last turn

most of his equipment was discarded at one point (I think this is important, Fright Train hollowed out the bunker suit to use it, so discard/destroying equipment seems important)

Unlocked against Voss in the Block with Dark Visionary, Haka, Expatty and Bunker in that order

I had all of Bunker's equipment out (even taking an extra turn to play auxiliary power source) and used all the modes at some point but when I got the unlock none of the modes were active - I never dealt more than 8 with the omni cannon but I used it several times so I probably did at least 20 total over the course of the game.  With as many cards as I was drawing and ditching to the omni cannon I'm pretty sure all of his limiteds were in my trash.  I got the unlock by Visionary hitting 3 targets with psychic damage - 1st Bunker, then something random and then Grand Warlord for the win.  FWIW only one shots I used were Adhesive Foam Grenade

Unlocked against Gloomweaver in Wagner Mars Base.

F6 Tachyon, Haka, Tempest, Visionary, and Bunker.

I had enough card draw to cycle through Bunker's deck once, I played External Combustion twice, and I made sure to fire all 3 mode cards through the Omni-Cannon. I fired the Omni-Cannon several times (3 or 4), with 3 cards each time.

Bunker was incapped immediately before I finished Gloomweaver.

My current hypothesis:

First, lose a game to Iron Legacy with Bunker on the team. Then, without having Legacy on your team, Bunker must fire all 3 mode cards through the Omni-Cannon and be incapacitated before the villain is defeated.

I've been thinking about this. Has anyone noticed that if you look at "Decomissioned Hardware", there's a green Bunker suit front and center on the card? I feel like there should be a connection to the unlock there somewhere.

What if the unlock condition is closer to "All copies of Decomissioned Hardware must be in the trash" and, by coincidence, those who have used full-power Omni-cannons are fulfilling that condition when the Omni-cannon burns the cards underneath it. All copies of DH are hitting the trash, and yet OC wasn't necessary.

I'm going to test it in a bit, but I'm starting to believe it might be:

"Lose to Iron Legacy, then win a game with Bunker (and without Legacy) where Bunker is incapcitated, but not before all copies of Decomissioned Hardware enter the trash."

Edit: I forgot I had a half-completed game saved, so I finished it out. VS Baron Blade at the Pike Industrial Complex, got my unlock. I had Omni-Cannon on the field but never used it; I had all three Decomissioned Hardware cards in my hand so I stalled long enough to play them out, then had Omnitron-X self-destruct on Bunker before defeating BB. I did use and subsequently burn each of Bunker's modes, so that might have something to do with it as well.

But I'm starting to think I'm on to somethin'

I did notice that about Decomissioned Hardware, and the flavor text even says something about there can be only one Bunker, so I thought it might be related to that card too, but I'm pretty sure I never played it either, so then I wondered if the key might be NOT playing that card, but then I saw at least one person (I think it was on Steam) saying they played it. So I ruled it out, but it could be about it being in the trash... Not sure, but I may have discarded it at some point. Not sure I would've had 3 copies in the trash, though. That seems doubtful but not certain.

Also, I noticed (again on the Steam forums) one person saying all they ever did with Bunker is skip play and power phases. And someone else said they only played one piece of equipment and had Unity destroy it. So it doesn't sound like it's specific cards played or even Bunker dealing damage. Maybe it's about the number of cards drawn? (I had a Team Leader Tachyon, so I would've drawn lots of cards; the person who just skipped Bunker's phases would be drawing quite a bit too). Or, going back to the specific card you mentioned, maybe it could be something like "all copies of Decommissioned Hardware must either be in hand or in the trash"?

LI
linkblade91

I drew a butt-ton of cards, starting with a turn-1 Recharge Mode, followed later by a repeatedly-cycled Auxiliary Power Source. I used one to get the Decomissioned Hardware cards into my hand, then played those to get it back, using it three more times. I also skipped through Bunker's turn once or twice.

If you didn't put them all in your trash, perhaps in your hand was all you needed then. *shrugs*

That seems...kind of weak for an unlock-condition, though. If they only need to be in our hands at the very least, then we wouldn't have to do anything but skip our turns (like that Steam person you mentioned). I hope it's not as mind-numbingly-simple as that :/

Edit: I mean, that's like saying the unlock condition is "make sure the game last eight turns, so do whatever then kill off Bunker. Boom, you're done. Congrats" lol

Well, my theory around the environment administering the coup de grace has been debunked.  :)  I think it might have something to do with amount of damage and/or "External Combustion" as I used that and caused 14 points of damage during my game.  I'm including the bits from my log showing the damage incurred by Bunker during the game.  Interesting in that he was hit by everyone (including himself) over the course of the fight - has anyone else had that experience?

*** Round 1 *** (Devious Disruption) Baron Blade initiates 3 Lightning damage to Bunker. Baron Blade deals Bunker 3 Lightning damage. Bunker is now at 25 HP.

*** Round 2 *** (Blade Battalion) Blade Battalion initiates 5 Melee damage to Bunker. Blade Battalion deals Bunker 5 Melee damage. Bunker is now at 20 HP.

(Mind Spike) The Visionary initiates 3 Psychic damage to Bunker. The Visionary deals Bunker 3 Psychic damage. Bunker is now at 17 HP.

*** Round 3 *** (External Combustion) Bunker initiates 2 Fire damage to Bunker. Bunker deals Bunker 2 Fire damage. Bunker is now at 15 HP.

(Lightspeed Barrage) Tachyon initiates 5 Melee damage to Bunker. Tachyon deals Bunker 5 Melee damage. Bunker is now at 10 HP.

(Inferno) Ra initiates 1 Fire damage to Bunker. The Staff of Ra increases the damage dealt by Ra by 1. Ra deals Bunker 2 Fire damage. Bunker is now at 8 HP.

(Living Conflagration) Ra initiates 1 Fire damage to Bunker. The Staff of Ra increases the damage dealt by Ra by 1. Ra deals Bunker 2 Fire damage. Bunker is now at 6 HP.

(Throwing Knives) The Wraith initiates 1 Projectile damage to Bunker. Micro Targeting Computer increases the damage dealt by The Wraith by 2. The Wraith deals Bunker 3 Projectile damage. Bunker is now at 3 HP.

(River of Lava) River of Lava initiates 5 Fire damage to Bunker. River of Lava deals Bunker 5 Fire damage. Bunker is now at -2 HP.

I unlocked him.

Had the prereq of losing to iron legacy, and not having legacy on the team.

Aux power source was played twice.  Once used the power, once used the start of turn effect.

He was the only one incapped at the end (actually incapped in the same blow that won the game, thanks to The Wraith going for a triple-kill on bunker, chairman, and operative).

Was fighting the chairman at the block.

I unlocked Bunker without ever using External Combustion, and I don't think he ever inflicted any damage whatsoever; I just played cards, drew cards, and played yet more cards that drew me yet more cards until I killed him, followed by BB later in the round. So damage shouldn't be a requirement.

With that, as well, means I did not have Bunker hit by everyone: he didn't hurt himself, and I don't think Dark Visionary damaged him during my game.

Could it be related simply the number of cards drawn?

"Lose to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team, then defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must draw at least 20 cards before becoming the only hero to be incapacitated."

Number may be different, obviously, but it's an idea.

OCMike, what were your only two cards in Bunker's trash? (External Combustion and something else?) If it's related to cards in the trash, it might be helpful to know the only two you had.

It may not actually have to do with dealing damage, but just with playing the cards. In other words maybe you have to have played x-equipment cards or certain guns.

I had External Combustion and Auxiliary Power Supply in the trash.  Because he was around for roughly three rounds, it's pretty easy to analyze what he did in game.  Here is a listing of his plays and powers for each round:

*** Round 1 ***

Play Ammo Drop, Use Base Power - Load

*** Round 2 ***

Play Auxiliary Power Supply, Use Power - Auxilliary Power Supply

*** Round 3 ***

Play External Combustion (causing 14 damage - 2 to himself and 3 each to 4 other targets), Use Base Power - Load

He drew a total of 12 cards before he was incapped - Could be he only needs to draw 10 for the unlock?

This is all assuming, of course, that it isn't dependent on another hero's actions.

Well, it seems a lot of folks have used the Auxiliary Power Supply during their games. Has anyone tried that as a guess?  Something like this:

I just unlocked him:

the standard stuff, lose to Iron Legacy, no Legacy in team. Team was TL Tach, Argent Adept, Bunker, Omni-x, not sure it really matters though.

I basically did nothing with Bunker, skipped twice every turn except for the two turns I played and used the auxillary battery.

Bunker had 8 cards in his deck (2 in the trash) when he was incapped (by 4 toxic damage from Primordial Plant Life).

I used his incapped ability to allow Tachyon to play a card to defeat Blade.

So, maybe less than ten cards in his deck, incapped, and beat the boss?

Ok unlocked!

Team Leader Tachyon, Argent Adept, Visionary, Bunker vs Baron Blade in the Block.

The theory I was trying was: draw at least one copy of each of Bunker's Equipment (there's seven of them)

So, Bunker played External Combustion, then Adhesive Foam Grenade twice (used Initialize during those turns).  Then I skipped turns until I had all seven equipment.  I think I had two copies of Heavy Plating but single copies of everything else.  Then I played Turret Mode, so no more card draw or card play.  No equipment was in play, ever, so the only Power he ever used was Initialize (skipped after Turret mode was played).  When I incapped him he still had 20 cards left in his deck, 5 in trash.

So my guess:

Bunker loses to Iron Legacy.

Defeat a villain without Legacy on the team.

Bunker must be incapped.

Bunker must draw at least one copy of each of his Equipment.

Lost to IL, no Legacy in team, etc.

Vs. Ambuscade in the Block with Tempest, Wraith, Scholar, Fanatic. Bunker was in first position.

I basically just drew cards until he died (from a self-incap with External Combustion), but I definitely didn't draw every equipment (I never saw Grenade Launcher).

I only played Aux Power Source, Ammo Drop, and the Omni-Cannon (plus External Combustion) and used his power every turn but the first (Aux Power Source).

I hadn't shuffled his deck nor drawn over 40 cards when I unlocked him.

edit: okay, unlocked him on the steam version, this is what I did:

Nothing. just double skipped his turn every time, no card draws from other characters. I did have all of his modes in hand at the end.

He had to discard two cards because of "consider the price of victory", and had less than 20 cards in his deck when he was incapped.

He was the only incapped character when the villain was defeated.

Team was Ra, Omni-X, Bunker, Visionary vs Blade in the Block. Pretty sure team make up and villain/environment don't matter, apart from not having Legacy in your team.

so anyway, that seems to show that Bunker doesn't need to have played anything, at least.

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must have drawn all Mode cards at least once. Bunker must be the only incapacitated hero.

It was against ash'kash'buta in insula primalus.

Maybe Bunker needs a mode in hand and there have to be a minimum number of Ongoing/villain Ongoing cards in play? Or no villain Ongoing cards in play.

To take the draw-2 strategy a little further, has anyone tried skipping the end-of-turn draws as well (you have to change your options to do this) and basically doing nothing the entire game?

I'll give this a whirl sunday night: at the very least we can establish that it's based on cards drawn or in hand when incapped if it doesn't work.

Has anyone had a "double-draw every turn" game that DIDN'T unlock bunker? Was there anything unusual about it (killed before you drew every mode, or something like that)?

It's also quite possible it's just a game where you CAN'T do a certain thing (play every mode card? Destroy an environment target?) and not playing anything just happens to trivially met the requirement.

One more data point:

  • Already lost to Iron Legacy with Bunker
  • Pretty sure this was the first game I played with Bunker after losing to Iron Legacy.
  • Bunker, Wraith, Ra, Haka, Mr. Fixer vs. Akash’bhuta in The Block
  • Skipped most of Bunker’s turns (played 2 Auxiliary Power Sources, 1 Recharge Mode, 1 Ammo Drop, 1 Adhesive Foam Grenade, 1 Omni-Cannon)
  • Blew Bunker up with his own Omni-Cannon.
  • Defeated Akash’bhuta the same round Bunker was incapacitated.
  • Bunker had drawn most, but not all, of his deck. (Definitely had more cards in hand than left in deck.)

Result: Unlocked Bunker: Engine of War.

Yeah, I can verify that playing cards or using powers is not necessary for this for Bunker, as from reading the threads a lot of people mention my playthrough. I skipped every one of his turns and only ended up with 3 cards in his trash that were the results of discards from fighting Baron Blade at the Mars Base. I believe the 3 cards were an adhesive grenade, a flak cannon, and either an ammo drop or auxilary power source. Other than that, he did nothing. I even had him skip a few turns to get rid of meteor showers and put cards under the countdown. He did take damage little by little, except for a hit of I believe 11 from Tachyon using a barrage. He was the only one incapped. Wish I remembered how many cards he had left in his deck, but I know I didn't draw all of them. Hope that helps, and it sounds like some people have verified you can get the unlock by skipping his turns.

99% certain these are the unlock conditions:

1) Lose to Iron Legacy

2) Face any villain in any environment with Regular bunker, and no Legacy in the party.

3) Win, but Bunker must be incapped with one of each Mode cards in hand when he incaps.

Just tried for those conditions vs baron blade with Bunker, Chrono, Omni, and Unity vs Baron Blade in the Block.

Unlocked.

I just followed the conditions given by ericmo32 and unlocked F6 Bunker.

I lost to Iron Legacy. Then I faced Iron Legacy again in The Block with Omnitron-X and The Scholar. All Bunker did was draw cards before he was incapacitated. Here is what Bunker did.

Round 1 - Played and Used Auxilary Power Source (APS). Had 1 Mode Card in hand

Round 2 - Played Decommisioned Hardware (DH) to get back and Use APS again. 1 Mode Card in hand

Round 3 - Played 2nd copy of APS and Use. 2 Mode cards in hand.

Round 4 - Played 2nd copy of DH to get back and Use APS. 3 Mode cards in hand.

Round 5 - Incapped.

I know that I did not have each type of equipment in hand because I never saw Heavy Plating. I did have other equipment in the trash due to Iron Legacy. I may have had 1 mode card in the trash. The team also defeated Iron Legacy on Omnitron-X's turn.

Here is my modified guess from my game.

Lose to Iron Legacy. Then, win a game with Bunker on the team and no Legacy. Bunker must be the only hero incapped. He must also have 1 of each Mode card in hand and have Auxilary Power Source and Decommisioned Hardware in the trash.

I just attempted a run where pretty much all Bunker did was use his powers to draw cards.  I got the unlock.  I had virtually nothing in the trash when Bunker was unlocked, due to the Environment shuffling trash into the deck, but a lot of cards in hand.

I'll analyse the log later to determine which cards I played and which cards were in my hand at the time of incap, but if you ask me, it really is something along the lines of:

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must draw X cards, and he must be incapacitated.

OR possibly

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must draw X cards more than the number of rounds, and he must be incapacitated.

OK, so here's the list of actions that affected Bunker's hand/play area in my successful unlock:

Starting Hand: Auxiliary Power Source, Flak Cannon, ???, ??? (I forget the last two cards).

Round 1:

GameController plays Auxiliary Power Source.
Went from Bunker's PlayCard phase to UsePower phase.
Bunker uses the power on Auxiliary Power Source.
Bunker draws Turret Mode.
Bunker draws Grenade Launcher.
Bunker draws Upgrade Mode.
Bunker draws Adhesive Foam Grenade.

Round 2:

GameController plays Flak Cannon.
Bunker uses the power on Bunker.
Bunker draws Omni-Cannon.
Bunker draws Ammo Drop.

Round 3:

GameController plays Ammo Drop.
Bunker uses the power on Bunker.
Bunker draws Upgrade Mode.
Bunker draws External Combustion.

Round 4:

GameController plays Omni-Cannon.
Bunker uses the power on Flak Cannon.
Bunker draws Decommissioned Hardware.
Dark Watch Mr. Fixer's Bitter Strike destroys Flak Cannon!
Pervasive Red Dust destroys Omni-Cannon!
Omnitron-X's Timeshift destroys Personal Cloaking Device!
Bunker draws Recharge Mode.

Round 5:

GameController plays Recharge Mode.
Bunker draws Heavy Plating.
Bunker draws Auxiliary Power Source.
Pervasive Red Dust puts Auxiliary Power Source into play.
Maintenance Level moves 2 cards to the top of Bunker's Deck.
Bunker shuffles their Deck.

Round 6:

Recharge Mode destroys itself!
GameController moved Recharge Mode to Bunker's trash.
GameController plays External Combustion.
Bunker uses the power on Auxiliary Power Source.
Bunker draws Turret Mode.
Bunker draws Gatling Gun.
Bunker draws Decommissioned Hardware.
Bunker draws Gatling Gun.
Chrono-Ranger's Quick Shot destroys Reactive Plating!
Bunker draws Ammo Drop.

Round 7:

GameController plays Grenade Launcher.
Bunker uses the power on Grenade Launcher.
Bunker draws Flak Cannon.
Maintenance Level moves 4 cards to the top of Bunker's Deck.
Bunker shuffles their Deck.

Round 8:

Meteor Storm destroys itself!
Dark Watch Mr. Fixer's Bitter Strike destroys Personal Cloaking Device!
Bunker draws Maintenance Unit.
Bunker is no longer a target.
All of Bunker's cards are removed from the game.

Round 9:
Bunker uses the incapacitated ability "One player may play a card now."
Ambuscade is now at 0 HP.
Bunker, Chrono-Ranger, Dark Watch Mr. Fixer and Omnitron-X all defeated Ambuscade! Congratulations!
You just unlocked the promo card: Freedom Six Bunker!

I don't think I had Recharge Mode in hand at the end (I would have had to have had it as a starting card, and I don't think I did).  There was nothing in his trash at all when he was incapacitated.

Maybe there's something that will help figure out what is the key.

Maybe this is too obvious, but It seems as though the key is drawing a lot of cards.  So we just need to figure out what "a lot" is relative to.  If it's the trash, then something like this:

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must  have drawn more cards (or 2x, 3x) than are in his trash when he is incapacitated. Bunker must be the only incapacitated hero.

Finally unlocked Bunker, here's my guess

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without any Legacy on the team. Bunker must be the only incapacitated hero.  At the time he is incapacitated, Bunker must have no modes in play and at least one copy of all three modes in his hand and in his trash.

As an additional data point, I just played a game where Bunker skipped his first turn, drawing two cards, and was incapped before his second turn came up. I did not get the unlock, so based on the other reports of unlocking the variant by just skipping turns, the relevant factor must be one of:

  • Number of cards drawn
  • Number of rounds alive
  • (Edit: ruled out, see below)
  • Specific cards in hand
  • Some other out of turn action like discards or draws?

I’m going to play a few more rounds, letting Bunker draw various amounts of cards without taking any other actions to see if I can narrow it down. I’m also considering turning off the “automatically draw cards” option and have Bunker do literally nothing the entire game, just to see if drawing cards is necessary.

Edit: I tried the “have Bunker do nothing, including drawing zero cards” approach and didn’t get the unlock. The game went on for quite a while and Bunker was alive for most of it; I knocked him out in the final round just before defeating the villain. I think that rules out the “alive for X rounds” option above; the unlock condition almost certainly has to do with number of cards drawn or specific cards being present in his hand/trash.

JO

It doesn't have anything to do with the Trash. In my unlock, Bunker's Trash was empty due to Maintenance Level shuffling his Trash into his deck the turn before he was incapacitated, which he skipped to destry a Meteor Storm and got incapped later that round.

SE

Specific cards drawn (but no longer in hand) could also be a factor.

People have been comparing number of cards drawn to rounds, but what if it's in comparison to damage done?  For people who've been double-skipping, that would be 0 so they would have always gotten that factor.  If a second factor involves having drawn certain cards or having certain cards in hand when Bunker is incapped then the odds would still favor double-skippers meeting that condition as long as they drew a lot of cards.

So here's a pair of guesses…

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must have drawn more cards than the total damage he dealt in the game and have all three modes in hand when he is incapacitated.  Bunker must be the only incapacitated hero.

or

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must have drawn more cards than the total damage he dealt in the game and have drawn all three modes at least once before being incapacitated.  Bunker must be the only incapacitated hero.

On the run I got it, once I got all three mode cards in my hand, I swapped out from Recharge Mode, dropped a flak cannon, and started firing. Can't say for sure I did more damage than I drew cards but it definitely wasn't a do-nothing game for Bunker. and I don't think I took THAT long getting the three modes. (Although to be fair, I was triple-drawing most turns and had Visionary and Argent Adept helping, sooooo....)

Good thought!   So is it something like:

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must be the only incapacitated hero.  Bunker must have at least 10 cards in hand when incapacitated.

And if that is close enough, but it's 15 instead of 10 or something, please give us a hint :).

Yeah, I should have said Bunker's Player should have 10 cards in hand to be consistent with game terms too.

It's the players which have hands, not the heroes, and most cards seem consistent about it.  The distinction will be much more important when we get The Sentinels, given you then have one player with multiple heroes.

Yeah, it's confusing due to the game being played solo, but in game terms, the player of the video game is controlling multiple 'players' in the game.  Cards always refer to the player or 'you' when manipulating card draws and discards.

Just unlocked EoW.  Played a little bit, not much, and drew lots of cards, including all the modes.  Incapped Bunker by letting Chrono-Ranger shoot him.  We were fighting Gloomy in Silver Gultch so that I could unlock GloomSpite at the same time.

Team was (in order) Bunker, TLT, Dark Visionary, AA, and Chrono-Ranger.

Maybe Tachyon (or Team Leader Tachyon) needs to be on the team?

Something like:

Lose to Iron Legacy, then win a game against another villain with a team including Bunker and Tachyon, but not Legacy.  Bunker must be incapped after drawing 10 cards (or all 3 modes, or all his Equipment)

I'll repost here what I posted on Steam.

All right, just had my cousin unlock him against Omnitron on Mars. Team, in order, was F6 Tachyon, Haka, Bunker, and Ra. I took somewhat specific notes. Went under the assumption that Bunker had to lose to Iron Legacy, and no Legacy could be on the team, since the rest of the Freedom 6 had those requirements, and I can't imagine them being any different for him. Bunker skipped all of his turns.

-Round 1
Bunker took 1 damage, then 1 damage, then 1 damage from Omni with interpolation beam and card draws given from Tachyon with 2 fleet of foot and then her power, drawing 3 cards on her turn. On his turn, he took 1 damage, then 1 damage from drawing 2 cards.

-Round 2
Bunker took 1 damage from drawing a card on Tachyon's turn. Then drew another card on her turn with no damage due to hypersonic assault. Then drew 2 cards his turn.

-Round 3
He drew one card on Tachyon's turn, then 2 cards on his turn.

-Round 4
Same as round 3.

-Round 5
1 draw from Tachyon on her turn, 2 draws on his turn, took 3 damage from Ra on Ra's turn, then discarded upgrade mode and turret mode to get rid of environment cards.

-Round 6
1 draw from Tachyon, 2 draws on his turn, then discarded another turret mode and a recharge mode for environment.

-Round 7
2 draws on his turn

-Round 8
2 draws on his turn, and discarded 2 recharge modes for environment.

-Round 9
2 draws on his turn, then discard of external combustion for environment.

-Round 10
3 damage from Tachyon, then 1 draw on her turn, 2 draws on his turn, and discards of 2 external combustions and 1 decommissioned hardware for environment.

-Round 11
3 damage from Tachyon, then 1 draw on her turn, 2 draws on his turn, then 2 damage, then another 2 damage from the environment.

-Round 12
1 draw on Tachyon's turn, then 3 damage on Haka's turn, then another 3 damage on Haka's turn. 2 drarws on Bunker's turn, then discarded 2 upgrade modes and a recharge mode for the environment.

-Round 13
1 draw on Tachyon's turn, then 3 damage on Haka's turn for the incap. Had 1 adhesive foam grenade left in his deck, did not reshuffle ever, and had the following in his hand when he went down:
2 adhesive foam grenades
3 ammo drops
3 auxilary power sources
2 decommissioned hardwares
3 flak cannons
2 gatling guns
3 grenade launchers
3 heavy platings
3 maintenance units
2 omni-cannons
and 13 total cards in his discard pile, which were all of his mode cards (9), a decommissioned hardware, and all 3 external combustions. He used his incap power 3 times, but I don't think that matters, and Omnitron went down on Round 15. Bunker was the only one incapped. Hopefully this helps. My guess is it has to do something with drawing as well, maybe

Lose to Iron Legacy with Bunker
Win a game with Bunker as the only incapped hero, and no Legacy on the team
Draw each equipment and mode card at least once

I don't know. But hopefully someone can get something out of this so we can at least narrow it down.

Edit: And just realized how long this was. Sorry about that!

I just tried reproducing mkettley's result but did not get the unlock. Omnitron on Wagner Mars Base vs TL Tachyon, Haka, Bunker, Ra. Skipped every turn with Bunker, drew his entire deck, reshuffled once and ended up with all 40 cards in his hand. Incapped bunker on the same turn that Omnitron was defeated, but did not use Bunker's incap power. No unlock.

Then I tried Ambuscade in The Final Wasteland against TL Tachyon, Ra, Tempest, Bunker, and Visionary.  This time I drew Bunker's entire deck but made sure not to re-shuffle. I ended with all of his cards in hand with the following exceptions, which were in the trash thanks to Visionary using Enlighten:

External combustion (3)

Adhesive Foam Grenade (3)

Decommissioned Hardware (1)

So all of his ongoing, equipment, and mode cards were in hand when he was incapacitated. He went down, and on the same turn I used his incap power to let Visionary play Mind Spike to defeat Ambuscade. Still no unlock.

Anybody have any ideas what I missed? Is there something I did that's been ruled out already?

Edit:

Well thinking back it's possible that Bunker is the F6 member that I left out of my initial "lose to Iron Legacy" game and that I'm dumb for missing the initial step. Will report back once I check that condition...

Edit 2:

Yep, that was it. Went and lost to IL, then tried my second attempt over again and it worked no problem.

My proposal:

With Bunker on your team, lose to Iron Legacy. Then, defeat any villain in a game with Bunker on the team and no Legacy on the team. During that game, Bunker must draw all of his Mode and Equipment cards. Then Bunker must be incapacitated. Bunker may not shuffle his deck.

Can confirm that asmith5831's strat worked. Only card I played the whole game was Ammo Drop to get card draw faster.

Lost to IL as normal. Then immediately played BBlade in The Block. TLT, Ra, Tempest, Bunker, Visionary. Went through environment deck once, saw lock down, and prison riot, etc, but the crux of it felt like drawing all of his equipment and / or modes.

Thanks!

I just unlocked, not sure if I have anything to add but I’ll try.

  1. Did the usual loss to Iron Legacy, won with no Legacy on the team. Team was Bunker, Tachyon(also unlocked F6 Tachyon this battle), Omnitron-X, and Tempest vs Baron Blade in The Block.

  2. Unlike others, I did NOT skip ANY Bunker turns.

  3. When Bunker was incapped I had 15 cards left in my deck, and the only cards in the trash were 2 copies of External Combustion. I had never reshuffled.

  4. I had played and used Auxiliary Power Source twice, and the only cards still in play were Grenade Launcher, Ammo Drop, and Omni-cannon(no cards underneath and never used.)
Edit: I don’t know if this matters but both Auxiliary Power Source were back in my hand due to Tempest using Reclaim From the Deep.

  5. Because Tachyon and Ommi-X were around there was a little ongoing and environment destruction. 2 Living Force Field, Backlash Field, Defensive Displacement, and a Lockdown are what I remember.

  6. Here’s some numbers: 7 turns to incap, 21 cards drawn, 7 cards played, 14 additional turns to take down Blade(I stretched it out for the Tachyon unlock), Bunker took damage from 6 separate attacks (Blade Battalion, himself, Tempest, himself again, Block Guard, and finished off by Tachyon.)

Hope that’s helpful.

ASmith's worked as predicted.

Vs. Ambuscade in Insula Primalis.

I did not skip Bunker turns.

Bunker was taken out by friendly.

Bunker had no cards in his deck (specifically to get all his equipment/ongoings drawn) but he never reshuffled.

At Bunker's death, Ambuscade had no cards out. At Ambuscade's death, he still had no cards out.

Took way too many turns.

Train puns can really derail a conversation.

So it's something to do with number of cards drawn, mode cards not being played/discarded, and/or copies of all equipment cards being drawn.

It's not incapping self, because others have unlocked him without doing that. It's not normal play, because others have unlocked him by skipping turns.

I initially thought it was draw all equipment cards (which is what I did for my unlock) but someone else disproved that.  I'm going to guess that it is draw X cards where someone needs to figure out the exact value of X by playing a game with X=5, if Bunker does not unlock, X = X + 1, repeat until unlocked to determine the value of X.

I GOT IT!  Just unlocked him and counted the cards I drew.

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with Bunker on your team.  Then win a game against any villain with Bunker on your team, but without Legacy.  Bunker must draw at least 25 cards and be incapacitated by the end of the game.

I suppose someone can try this without having Bunker KO'd first.  If that works, then the only requirement would be the 25 card draw.  I think Bunker would have to be incapped though, as in the Sentinels storyline the original Bunker dies, right?

You know, I wonder...  How about we try the number of cards being drawn to be either at least 21 or more than 21?

Either of these would tie into the "Buster" clue of the op... it would be referencing Blackjack of course!

And of course, add all the extra stuff about Iron Legacy/Legacy etc. that is present for all the F6 variants.

Just used asmith5831's method below verbatim (vs. Ambuscade in the Final Wasteland) and it worked.  Bunker did nothing the whole game but draw cards, and take extra draws from TL Tachyon.  I had his entire deck in his hand (except maybe 1-2 one-shots), didn't reshuffle, then had Tach incap him with a Lightspeed Barrage before finishing off Ambuscade.  No other heroes incapacitated.  So  I think asmith5831 has it just about right:

With Bunker on your team, lose to Iron Legacy. Then, defeat any villain in a game with Bunker on the team and no Legacy on the team. During that game, Bunker must draw all of his Mode and Equipment cards. Then Bunker must be incapacitated. Bunker may not shuffle his deck.

Two thoughts though:

(1) Like the other unlocks, it doesn't seem to matter who incaps Bunker;

(2) I didn't reshuffle, just in case, but I'm not sure if that's a requirement – do any of the other unlocks have a "no reshuffle" condition?

I've heard of reports that he's been unlocked without being incapped.  That being the case, I'm guessing that it's either

With Bunker on your team, lose to Iron Legacy. Then, defeat any villain in a game with Bunker on the team and no Legacy on the team. During that game, Bunker must draw all of his Mode and Equipment cards.

or

With Bunker on your team, lose to Iron Legacy. Then, defeat any villain in a game with Bunker on the team and no Legacy on the team. During that game, Bunker must draw at least 20 cards.

Or possibly your second one there with "over 21" instead of "at least 20".  I still have to wonder if this is Bunker busting out...

One more potential one:

With Bunker on your team, lose to Iron Legacy. Then, defeat any villain in a game with Bunker on the team and no Legacy on the team. During that game, Bunker must have over 21 cards in hand.

And if we have close to it, but we just don't have the correct number for the number of cards, I would hope we are given a hint that we are close...

None of those are correct, but also keep in mind that throwing out random guesses without evidence does not count as figuring it out.

Do we have anyone left that has not unlocked it and is willing to do several tests to remove some of our misconceptions, then?

What we seem to know so far, if we trust everyone, is that:

  • Bunker apparently doesn't need to be incapped, but he may be.
  • Bunker doesn't need to play any cards.
  • There is no reliance on cards in Bunker's trash.
  • The Iron Legacy/Legacy rules are probably in play, as they are with everyone else on the Freedom Six (and if not, then that's just evil).
  • The variant is unlocked when the villain is defeated.
  • Position of Bunker does not matter.

Thus, I can only see two other potential conditions for the unlock:

  • It's somehow related to drawing cards, but we haven't determined the correct method yet.
  • It's something we never thought of, such as Bunker must have fewer remaining hit points than all other hero targets, or something.  This would explain why our strats where he is the only incapacitated hero would work.

We need more info from those that have achieved the unlock without incapping Bunker.  Can anyone provide some insight into the players that unlocked him this way?  The log files would be invaluable in this case.   Failing that, we need some volunteers to do some tests, making note of exactly what cards are drawn and slowly increasing that number.  Having both failed and successful lists of drawn cards is the only way I think we can solve this one.

Game 1: Bunker loses to Iron Legacy.

Game 2: 10 cards drawn, 13 in hand at game end (way too few, but the game was going to end either way, so I took out the villain)

Game 3: 16 cards drawn, 20 in hand at game end (not all Equipment, not all Modes), Bunker lowest health (4HP), no unlock.

Game 4: 17 cards drawn, 21 in hand at game end (not all Equipment, not all Modes), Bunker second-lowest health (21HP), no unlock.

I'll edit as I go.

EDIT: What the heck? All my edits have vanished! (Got to 21 drawn, 25 in hand)

Bunker has been unlocked in multiple different positions on the team, and with non-overlapping teams.

I don't have him unlocked yet but I don't really have time to futz around with it, sadly.

I would recommend you take any reports that do not have screenshots or logs with a grain of salt.

I'll admit I haven't kept track of all reports recently but at the time I was trying to unlock Bunker, I never saw anyone unlock Bunker with him not incapped.

Someone on Steam just unlocked with only 12 cards drawn, mostly equipment (8).  Others did report having drawn more than 12 cards with no unlock.  Therefore it is a bit more than simply drawing X cards.  Either drawing X Equipment cards, drawing specific cards or having X cards in hand (or X Equipment cards in hand).

Edit: Just occurred to me, if Bunker is incapped he will not have cards in hand.  Should be draw X Equipment cards or draw certain specific cards.  Again, a systematic (if tedious) way to determine X is to start with X =1. If no unlock, X=X+1 and repeat until unlocked.  You can control X by either unchecking Game Option Automatically Draw Cards or use Turret Mode after drawing X Equipment cards.

OK, I think we should add Bunker being incapped back to the list for now.  I have not seen any of those reports myself, whereas we know that Bunker being incapped works.

So perhaps the first procedure we need to figure this out is:

  1. Ensure you've lost to Iron Legacy with Bunker on the team.
  2. Set up a series of fights that include Bunker and don't include Legacy in whatever other situation you prefer.
  3. In each fight, have Bunker just skip his play and power phases until he has drawn X cards and then incap him, taking note if you have drawn 1 of each Equipment and/or 1 of each Mode.
  4. Go on to defeat the villain, continuing to skip Bunker's turns.

If this works, we can then use the information discovered to test whether the same conditions will work with Bunker not incapacitated.

If anyone hasn't unlocked but does not have the patience to sit through several battles trying to unlock him, we could use your help to just try the above and at least get Bunker's deck to shuffle before incapping him.  This will show if the strategy works at all, but of course, your job is then done as you've unlocked him and can't help any more.

It's not draw one of each Equipment. That was my guess but others including the latest report on Steam unlocked without that.

That Steam game also did not draw all Modes.

I don't think I posted about it here yet, so here is my video where I unlock Engine of War Bunker vs Gloomweaver at The Block.  Bunker had 6 cards in play, including Omni Cannon and Turret Mode, 11 cards in discard after firing a 3-card Omni Cannon salvo, 18 cards in hand, and 5 cards left in deck before being incapped by a Block Guard.  Just over a full round then passed, and I got the unlock via defeating Gloomweaver through damage by Omnitron X's components during his Start of Turn.  Maybe someone can use it to figure out some detail I might have glossed over.

I unlocked him. I played Ambuscade vs. Team Leader Tachyon, Omnitron-X, The Argent Adept, and Bunker in Pike Industrial Complex. Bunker skipped all of his play and power phases and drew a total of 18 cards. In order, they were:

Heavy Plating
Flak Cannon
Adhesive Foam Grenade
Turret Mode
Ammo Drop
Ammo Drop
Omni-Cannon
Adhesive Foam Grenade
External Combustion
Recharge Mode
Adhesive Foam Grenade
Auxiliary Power Source
Auxiliary Power Source
External Combustion
Ammo Drop
Recharge Mode
Auxiliary Power Source
Grenade Launcher

Unfortunately, the log omits what his starting hand was. Bunker discarded 0 cards and had 0 cards in his trash. Ambuscade incapped him. The game was won the next round (not the same round as he was incapped).

If you want to wade through my game log, read here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mwojnkgf8xr7h0t/output_log.txt?dl=0

My guesses on unlock condition:

Lose a game to Iron Legacy with regular Bunker on the team. Then, defeat any villain with regular Bunker and without a Legacy on the team. Bunker must be incapacitated and must have at least 20 cards in his hand upon incapacitation.

After reading the F6 bio info, I feel what makes sense from a story point of view is to either draw X Equipment cards or have X Equipment cards in hand before Bunker is incapped (in order for Tachyon to salvage a new suit for F6 Bunker).

Looks like LewdDolphin21 drew 7 Equipment cards.  If this theory is correct, the proper, if tedious, method to determine X is to start with X=1, if no unlock, X=X+1 and repeat until unlocked.  You can control X exactly by either playing Turret Mode or unchecking Game Option Automatic Card Draw after drawing X Equipment cards.
