This week we have Ambuscade in Silver GultchInsula Primalis! Can the Eternal Haka, Unity, ra and Tempest defeat him?

I don't know, I've not played yet!

EDIT: Sorry, saw "Time Portal" used in the description and didn't look hard enough.

We will have to find out.   A shoot out is inevitable!

The one shot I just completed was in Insula Primalis not Silver Gulch.  That start looked a bit rough as Ambuscsde got a Charged Attacks and two Reactive Plating cards out.  The team proved victorious though in mint condition some might say.  Raptor Bot had the last word or bite as it might be.

Unfortunately, because of the position of the powers, I frequently accidentally hit the second power on Localized Hurricane and have to undo to get it back. This happened on my first attempt to use the power. Very frustrating. ![](upload://rz5Q0N0ReCDlc9KAXM0Hfpv6BLm.gif)

I am not against certain powers asking "are you sure you want to do this?"

Insula Primalis for me as well. Two Reactive Platings and a Charged Attacks with no ongoing destruction on the hero's side initially seemed scary, but the environment and Ra paired up well--the first environment play was Volcanic Eruption, and Ra had Flesh of the Sun God in hand, so together the environment took out all of Ambuscade's devices as well as 5+2+3+3 damage dealt to Ambuscade (due to device destruction), at the cost of 0+3+3+3 (or 0+4+4+4 to Haka) to the heroes. The next round another device was played, resulting in 7+3 damage to Ambuscade at the cost of 3 (or 4) damage to heroes. The final round Haka took out Ambuscade with a Haka of Battle. In all, the environment and Ambuscade combined almost did more damage to Ambuscade than the heroes, lol. The only unfortunate thing was Unity didn't get a good chance to play bots, since Flesh of the Sun God only protects hero character cards, but oh well.

I kept widdling down the devices until I was able to pop a Bee Bot with a Flame Spike and then finished them off with a Chain Lightning and Squall from Tempest.

Got my mint cover. Unity was essentially useless. The key was to let the Volcano do the dirty work while Ra protects the team with Flesh of the Sun God. Had to withstand some damage from Charged attacks as the volcano blasted the devices. Tempest kept everyone healthy(ish) with downpour. Dropped Ambuscade with a Haka of battle-boosted Mere strike on round 4.

We danced in the volcanos fire fir a minty victory finally got charged attacks off my back with a ball lightning drawn because of localized hurricane.

Oh, man. Charged attacks ruined my team, but Haka remained the last man standing. Tempest made everyone immune to projectile attacks, Unity healed and Ra dealt as much damage as possible before getting KO'd.

So close, but I managed to get my Mint!

Got the mint, but that setup was quite a bit tougher than the last.

My solo game went pretty smoothly. Used Flash Forge to get a Bee Bot into hand and played COnstruction Pylon thanks to Swift Bot to get both Bee and Raptor Bots into play. Ra then destroyed Bee Bot, thus allowing Charged Attacks to be destroyed. Followed by Tempest using Squall to wipe the field. The rest of the game is prety standard, just beat the tar out of Ambuscade. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=586761079

Unfortunatly, I lost my first game in it Online. A rogue player decided it would be a good idea to destroy a device, after getting everything down to low enough that they will be easily destroyed once Charged Attack was destroyed. This lead to all heroes being incapped, so no Mint online this time around. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=586761532

My solo game used ra's flesh of the sun god to cancel out the damage from volcanic disruption to heroes and then start wailing on ambuscade with my heroes while the volcano cleared the field and did the rest.

By the time I realized I had Flesh, I had already destroyed the Volcanic Eruption. The early game was scary, but I used all of Tempest's card draw to get Ball of Lightning. Once Charged Attacks was gone, I quickly took control. The only regret I had was that I wasn't able to use the epic Haka of Battle I'd been saving up. I didn't play any of the Mere's, and Taiaha was acquired on my last turn. Unity managed to have Two Raptor Bots and a Champion Bot in play and took out over half of Ambuscade's remaining health making it easy for Ra and Tempest to finish him off.

I actually like the difficulty of the One Shot. Games that would normally be a bit lack luster are made more tense and exciting by the knowledge that you can't take back sub obtimal plays if you want that mint cover. I wouldn't be against higher difficulty fights, but right now, I'm okay with where it's at.

I honestly thought I'd previously added that as a requested feature. Apparently I had not – so now I have. :slightly_smiling_face:

I used the Volcano as others have mentioned, but have to admit that I hadn't factored in just how much damage Charged Attacks would be doing to my team, so was sweating it a bit. Everyone was in single digits at the end. I forgot tht Bee Bot could take out Charged Attacks or I would have done that.

I ended up with Near Mint, since I blundered my way into a Volcanic Eruption/Charged Attacks disaster for my poor heroes. The second try went much better, since I used Flash Forge to pull a Bee Bot to destroy Charged Attacks, which made the rest of the challenge a breeze.

Mint again here.  Ambuscade's start was rough, but the volcano helped.  Unlike others, I got good use out of Unity with her Bee Bots and a Raptor near the end.  Frenchie went down in four turns and the team was barely scratched.

BTW, while I'm here, I will also mention I got a mint cover on the first one-shot.  Nothing very notable, but I also found it easy.

Looking forward to week 3 and beyond!

Near mint.

If there any lesson to learn from this week, it's to look before you leap. I went in blind thinking this was going to be almost as easy as the first one, only to get pasted. The second time, the Volcano did most of the work for me.

Well played, Handelabra. Well played.

Is there a place on the forum where we can meet up with non-rogue players to get MINT online? I'd rather work in tandem then with non-communicative people.

Mint:  Grabbed Bee Bot as soon as I drew Flash forge, then the Volcano and Flesh showed up and made everything nice and easy.

If you are going online I'd suggest taking unity or learning some of the forumite names and play when they are Unity, because Bee-Bot is the key to winning this one.

I use the same name online.

I normally play on my iPad and my name shows up as Sonvar through that.   If I do online multiplayer tonight it would be between 7 and 8PM EST since I'll watch the Handelabra stream

Got mint, too.

Used the volcano Flesh of the Sun God trick--forgot that it only protects Character cards, so was sad to see swift bot go on the first (second, maybe?) eruption.

Tempest went down, but he had used cleansing downpour a couple of times, so that helped me not sweat as much.

I left the charged attacks in play the whole time.

A big Haka of battle took Ambuscade from 21 down to 6, then Raptor bot took him to 2 (Imbued fire and obsidian field), then flame spike for the win.

I really like these weekly one-shots.  It's scratching the itch I have for a story/campaign mode. (I know there are fan-made campaigns, and they're great, but this feels more "official." I don't know why that matters to me....)

Got Mint on both local and online again.

First match was local and charged attacks nearly ruined me, Unity dropped before the end, but I pulled it off with some single digits.

Second match was just me and one other person and I made sure to destroy Cloaking device sooner so Ambuscade took more damage earlier on the match and didn't hit Unity that second turn. Still a close match, but pulled it out.

Volcano was essential to victory I think, since charged attacks is so devasting.

Got mint again. Like others I rode Flesh of the Son God and Volcanic Eruption to victory.

Were the decks seeded the same again?

Got Mint.

Aside from getting Bee Bot out, Unity felt kind of useless -- I spent the last couple turns with her just drawing cards because anything she put out would've just got whacked by the environment anyway.

You could choose to destroy the volcano and have the bots stay out with no harm to them alternatively.

Enduring Intercession plus Flesh of the Sun God protects the bots from the volcano. That's how I got mint.

True, but I'm generally loathe to skip turns if I don't have to. Plus, 7 damage to Ambuscade a turn is still pretty sweet.

I tried that, and, true to form, the darn game played the Carnivorous Plantlife card, which clobbered Haka down to like 5 HP anyway.

There's something about that card that seems to downright attract hugely-damaging environment cards.

The Primordial Plant Life comes out after the Volcano deals it damage so you could choose to destroy Enduring Intercession at that point which would allow Unity at least get another turn of use out of the bots.

I have to agree with this statement. Even though I destroyed the volcano the cards that Unity gets in this scenario do not really allow her to do much. Unlike the decks last week that really did showcase how important the Adhesive Foam Grenade can be on Bunker, Unity doesn't really get to show off anything. The game is pretty much over before she can safely play anything. Unity is in my top 5 characters and was hoping to see some Stealth Bot tanking strats or something?

I got Mint and only got hit by one volcano hit before I destroyed it.

You get an early flash forge with a Swift Bot in hand.  That setup is more than capable of getting Unity rolling.  If you don't want to get rid of the volcano then have Haka play Enduring Intercession.  I'm not the biggest Unity fan myself but she has great potential in this setup if you choose to do so.

Unity was pretty awesome in my local game, ending the game with 2 Raptor Bots and Swift Bot in play. If should would have gotten another turn then Platform Bot would have joined the party. 2 of the three games I have played online did have a lackluster Unity, which of course were ones where the other players wanted to leave Volcanic Eruption in play.

Personally, I had no reason to leave Volcanic Eruption in play. I don't need to rely on the environment to do my work for me against an actor.
