So, one of the things I really like about the game is the ability to really experiment with characters in somewhat controlled circumstances, so I'm curious which villains and environments you guys go with when you want a safe-ish place to try out some combination or set-up for a character (working out the Argent Adept's labyrinthian combos, seeing what all of Unity's bots out at once can get done, etc.).
For me, this basically means villains and environments with no -- or easily avoidable -- ongoing and equipment destruction and minimal mass damage. Only playing one card a round normally helps, too.
For me this usually means someone like Apostate, whose continuous cards tend to target the person with the highest HP, and whose ongoing/equipment destruction is either one at a time or the result of an ongoing card you can nuke before it's a problem. Ambuscade is also good, since I don't think he has any ongoing/equipment destruction at all.
Akash'Bhuta is also a good one for this, mainly because she has so much HP that you'll definitely have time to do the set ups, even if you have a bunch of mandatory-damage stuff out.
For Environments, Megalopolis tends to be good, Paparazzi and Hostage Situations aside, for its lack of equipment/ongoing destruction. Realm of Discord is also pretty neutral in that regard and easy enough to navigate.
What about you guys? When you want to try something out with little pressure, where do you go to?

I would use Grand Warlord Voss in either Wagner Mars Base or The Block.

Ambuscade in Wagner Mars Base. In one game, I left out Meteor Storm long enough for Parse to build up a 100 damage hit. Because, why not?

I'd say Megaopolis would not work well as it has cards that limit player choices by forcing them to skip power, play, or draw phase.
For a villain Ambuscade can be a fairly safe bet. He doesn't destroy any Ongoing or Equipment and for the most part only targets the highest health hero. For an environment, I would say the Block as often it just results in agents and prisoners attacking each other mostly.

Of the environments currently in the video game, I would suggest Realm of Discord.

Only problem with Wagner Mars base is the occasional Pervasive Red Dust destroying equipment.

My default when I'm trying for max damage Absolute Zero runs is Voss in Insula Primalis. The only destruction on the island is Thieving Pterodactyl (easy to kill before it destroys anything), Primordial Plant Life (optional), and River of Lava (optional). Voss's only destruction is one of his ships. The ship is a bit harder to kill, but it only destroys one thing a turn and there's only one copy of it in the deck.
Mass damage is a bit more plentiful, but Insula Primalis' mass damage (other than Volcanic Eruption and Thieving Pterodactyl, both of which are easy to get rid of) is all per hero, not per hero target, keeping Unity's bots safe. And while Voss's ships are painful, the mass damage minions are easy to kill.

Yeah, when we did the SotM Video Game "name game" where we had to play 3x matches with different sets of three heroes only, I basically stuck myself with Ambuscade in Silver Gulch until the next expansion, when I stuck with Ambuscade in Pike Industries-- although I ceded the floor to Powerhound before Realm of Discord came out, but I'm sure I would've taken him there, too. I tried a bunch of different villains, constantly, and found Amby in those environments to be the easiest way for me to churn through hundreds of successful games with new team arrangements.
He's predictable, safe, and those environments are, in reverse order (RoD < PI < SG, from easiest to hardest), pretty benign.

I was going to suggest Silver Gulch before, but the exploding wagon is a dangerous wildcard.

Limiting Explosive Wagon from triggering can be tricky at times and if more then one goes off in the same turn that game is likely over.

I tend to do Realm of Discord for practice runs. The cards are fairly neutral, and offers interesting situations needing exploration of a new team’s individual abilities to deal with e.g adapting to Time Crawls, compensating for Positive Energy Field etc.
A good villain to wail on would be poor ol’ Ambuscade (he can’t seem to catch a break).
Next up from that is Baron Blade, and then Omnitron I. And then review lessons learnt with the Ennead.

If Wraith is part of your practice group, she can make Tomb of Anubis trivial with one Mega Computer and almost completely nullify it with two Mega Computers.
