Official Hint:
Foote predicted, a couple months ago:
I tried to unlock GloomWeaver by fighting in the Realm of Discord. I beat him after he flipped but got no unlock. I had Wraith, Nightmist and Grandpa Legacy on the team, Wraith made the killing blow.
GloomWeaver was MistBound at the time. All his Relics were in the trash.
Did you use Planar Banishment on Strength of the Grave?
I... don't think so. I did use Planar Banishment but I think I used it on 3 Environment cards
Tried unlocking somebody by killing Spite in Rook City with an Inventory Barrage from the Wraith (Gloom-Spite's bio says Wraith kills him, and I was guessing this might be the key to unlock Skinwalker). Didn't work.
Might try Razor Ordinance with the Micro Targeting Computer. You may also need to have defeated Gloomweaver already.
I had defeated Gloomy once before, so that wasn't the problem.
Just beat Spite: Agent of Gloom on his "Broken Vessel" side in the Realm of Discord. Figured this woud be it since Spite: AoG's backstory says Gloom is basically waiting for a vessel to use to enter the world.
No unlock. Sad panda.
I will be trying to unlock it fighting advanced villians (along with the other 2 mystery unlocks Ra and Fanatic).
It doesn't say that Wraith killed him. Wraith just pointed at him, and the drugs that he was taking eventually killed him. So unlocking Gloom Spite may involve him killing himself when he flips.
or possibly killing him with all his drug cards out before he flips.
Edit: Sorry, I thought this was the Gloom Spite thread. All the comments about Spite confused me.
The commentary about Spite is because some of us think the way to unlock Gloomweaver is to do something special during a fight with Spite.
And Spite dies due to "his system turning against him and a piece of serrated steel passing through his head." Sounds like a piece of Razor Ordnance to me. :)
didnt the darkwatch promos come out at the same time with spite and gloomweaver promos? Just trying to think of other angles. DW NM, DW Expat, DW Mrfixer.
"The mere physical destruction of the Nightmare Walker cannot summon his herald in a perfect world."
-Handelabra tweet.
That actually sounds more like a GloomSpite hint, rather than a Skinwalker hint. Sounds like Gloomy has to be beaten, but in some special way.
Damnit! I thought that was where I posting!
Don't despair young man of matchsticks. There is no villain named Gloomweaver, so I can understand your confusion for posting here.
I think Spite Agent of Gloom has to be unlocked first (and perhaps then defeated) to unlock Skinwalker.
It does say “first things first”.
My theory on Spite is to defeat Advanced Gloomy in Demon God Incarnate (perhaps in a specific way). “Mere PHYSICAL destruction of Nightmare Walker cannot summon his herald in a PERFECT [non-Adv Mode] world.”
Welcome to the forums!
I made the exact same mistake earlier.
I, uh, did a thing. Steam version, so hopefully no bug.
Fight against Agent of Gloom Spite, used Argent, Ra, and Nightmist in Rook City. Unlocked upon Spite's defeat. Ra and Argent incapped, Nightmist at full HP. 3 drugs were faceup, 2 facedown: (Mind, Omicron, and Compound XI faceup) no drugs were flipped facedown via his start of turn condition. He was reduced to 0 HP via redirection from damage he would deal from Potential Sidekick's destruction.
It might be as simple as Agent of Gloom Spite in Rook City, not too sure, figured I'd share to help.
Which side was he on?
He was flipped, my bad.
We are unaware of any bugs relating to the Skinwalker GloomWeaver unlock conditions.
Oh I meant the bug thing mostly as a joke, sorry. I just had no idea what the unlock condition was (nor do I still, honestly), and was rather surprised that I got the variant on my first fight against Agent of Gloom.
You wouldn't happen to remember how many and which victims were out and if there were any left in the safe house would you? It looks like you have two good samaratins and two lost children, is there a bystander or a sidekick behind gloomweaver?
Failed unlock.
Agent of Gloom, Legacy, Dark Visionary, Nightmist, Wraith, Rook City
Gloom flipped, 4 drugs
4 victims under safe house
All but Nightmist incapped.
I believe it was two bystanders, lost child, kid sidekick. May have been a good samaritan or other victim out and about. Not that sure on the victim count other than it was four under the house.
If I recall correctly, there were 0 victims under the safe house when Spite was defeated. There was a Potential Sidekick on the field, but that was destroyed, and the two psychic damage from that cards destruction is what was used as redirection to defeat Spite. So yeah, if I recall correctly, the top right (where Gloomweaver's chest is blocking the field) was where the Sidekick was before his destruction, and I don't think there were any other cards on Gloomweaver's field.
Was he flipped in everyone's unlock?
I just unlocked him (woot all unlocked) Spite Agent of Gloom, Rook city, Spit has flipped, 0 victims in safe house, all drugs face up, 5 victims in play. Tachyon, Wrath, visionary, legacy, DW expatriot. The first 4 are an awesom crew for this, super redirect and lock down once they get rolling (nothing wrong with Expat she just didnt feel OP). tachyon is a great choice to bounce her push the limit and HUD.
pretty much everyone's everything was in play except spite who didnt have any ongoings.
I was afraid to try to beat him unflipped as it is a very slow game making sure the pieces are all out.
The only major similarity here I'm noticing with mine is the 0 victims in safe house… Interesting. So Nightmist isn't part of the unlock.
I had 0 victims in the safe house a couple of times when I defeated Spite Agent of Gloom (only once was it in Rook City though), so it's not just that.
I had a wild theory that I don't know if I actually believe is true, but it's based on the clue. "There is dark work to be done. First things first." Maybe at least one of the heroes have to have "Dark" in their title, be it DW Nightmight, DW Mr. Fixer, DW Expat or Dark Visionary. I haven't looked through all the unlock posts too thoroughly, but I believe all the ones I've seen had at least one of those.
If this were true, this could be why I didn't get the unlock. I did not have any of those heroes when I faced Spite Agent of Gloom in Rook City. I was missing the darkness!
I also don't believe I had him flipped, though, so that could also be the condition that I missed.
EDIT: Looks like I was probably wrong with my wild theory. I didn't notice an above post that didn't have any of these heroes on their team but had a successful unlock.
Agent of Gloom, Argent, Visionary, Nightmist, Wraith, Rook City. No variant heroes. Flipped, 5 drugs, 8 victims, 0 under safe house, unlocked.
Unlocked: A of Gloom, in RC, with Legacy, Visionary, Wraith, Ra, and Tempest. AG fliped, 4 of 5 drugs flipped, looks like 4 civies on the board, none in safehouse.
Long drawn out win, everyone was incapped but Tempest, He was healing 1 more hp than Spite was counterstriking on every power chance oppertunity (his turn, Ra's, and Legacy's) Wraith was healing him 2 every round. Lightning wasn't doing any damage, but was sapping Spite's first damage a turn armor. It was Tempest's damaging one shots that won me the game.
Unlocked. Defeated Spite Agent of Gloom in Rook City after he flipped. No victims in the safe house. Three of his drugs were face up.
My team was Dark Visionary, Super Scientific Tachyon, Young Legacy and Haka. Quite a few victims on the board.
Unlocked.
Defeated Agent of Gloom Spite in Rook City. He'd flipped. No one under safe house at that time, all victims out out, no victims died. Two drugs, PL602 Compound Omicron and PL626 Compound Xi flipped,
Beat him with Wraith, Dark Visionary and Super-Scientific Tachyon, a team pretty much tailor made for beating Spite.
I figure the "First things first." means you need to beat Gloom Spite, meaning he has to be unlocked first.
Unlocked:
After having beating Gloomweaver and unlocking Spite: AoG, beat Spite: AoG in Rook City after he flips and with an empty Safe House.
My team was SS Tachyon, Grandpa Legacy, RC Wraith, Visionary, & DW Expat.
Spite flipped, then played Forced Entry to clear out the Safe House. This brought out 5 victims, plus one that who was already out making 6 on the board (leaving 5 after FE killed the extra). Then the KO was administered by Tachy's Lightpeed Barrage.
This was by far the longest fight I've ever played in the digital game. On two separate occassions, I had gotten 5 victims into the safe house and was about to trigger the flip only to have an environment card play Forced Entry off Spite's deck, emptying the Safe House and forcing me to start over. Luckily, I had the full defensive array in place so Spite couldn't do any damage, it just took a ridiculously long time to get him to finally flip. Very glad I got the unlock at the end or I would've been pretty pissed.
Yes, it's a long haul to set everything up. Especially agonizing when the app crashes during a multi-minute Argent Adept turn, and you have to do it all over. The only thing I've done that compared in length of time was one-shotting an uninjured Voss with Haka.
So, what are the similarities between everyone who unlocked SW Gloom?
So far the key point I see is that the Safe House was empty at the time of victory.
Has anyone unlocked him while NOT fighting in Rook City? I really don't want to have to fight S:AoG there...
Don't you mean Skinwalker Gloomweaver not Spite Agent of Gloom?
Edited it, thank you.
For me, I had at least 1 of each victim in play (lost child, good samaritan, innocent bystander, sidekick), and had 5 total. I tried once with 4 (and probably not one of each) and it failed.
I had 2 victims inside the safe house. 5 victims (1 of each plus one extra lost child). Had one victim destroyed by that ongoing when it comes into play. Legacy, Tachyon, Dark Visionary, Haka, Wraith. In rook city.
No unlock.
Spite:AoG in Rook City with Legacy, Fanatic, Fixer, Wraith & Ra. Spite not flipped, empty safe house, all drugs face up. No unlock.
Who here has got the unlock while not in Rook city?
So. . . .Common themes for the unlocks appear to be:
No victims in the Safe House
At least 2 drugs active.
AoG Spite flipped.
Got the unlock. Legacy, Fixer, Wraith vs Spite:AoG in Rook City. Defeated flipped Spite with empty safe house. Two drugs face up, 5 victims in play, one in trash.
Just got it. Wraith, Haka, and Greatest Legacy in Rook city vs. Agent of Gloom. Spite was flipped, no victims in safe House. At least 4 victims in play, including Potential Sidekick. at least 2 victims in the trash. Only 2 drugs face up.
None of my team were significantly injured.
No unlock
Wraith, Haka, Gramps Legacy in rook city
I had 4 drugs flipped (all except the use a power deal damage and discard off the top), AoG spite was flipped, 1 victim in discard, 1 victim in play (not potential sidekick, I think it was innocent bystander)
haka hit him for 27 damage crush to kill him. No dice.
Just a note....someone else, not me, discovered that the log file that the app keeps lets you know when an unlock is possible as a game starts. I've started a few games with AoG: Spite, various parties, and Rook City, and not gotten that message. Thus, I'm assuming that something else besides just beating AoG: Spite in Rook City is needed, and I don't just mean victims or no victims, I mean I think you have to do something before you beat him to make the unlock possible.
Thoughts?
Because I have AoG: Spite, I've obviously beat Gloomweaver. I know someone mentioned beating Gloomweaver via damage (not relics) prior to trying for it. I THINK I've done that, but probably not since I freed up AoG.
Unlocked:
Villain: AoG Spite
Team: Grandpa Legacy, Dark Visionary, Wraith
Environment: Rook City
Two drugs flipped
Safe house empty
Only 1 card in trash (Lab Raid)
No "Forced Entry" played
No victims destroyed. 7(?) victims in play, at leats one of each.
My theory to unlock: Rook city, 2 drugs flipped, no one in safe house
Anyone unlock him not like this, or anyone not unlock him with this? I think it makes sense because the bio on Gloom states that if Spite fails his job to wreak havoc, then Gloomweaver takes new body.
Unlocked
AoG Spite, Rook City, Dark Visionary, SS Tachyon, and Wraith
He was flipped with 3 drugs face up, no folks under the Safe House, several Victims in play.
My guess for the unlock:
After defeating Gloomweaver in the Realm of Discord, defeat Agent of Gloom: Spite on his flipped side, with no victims in the Safe House.
I don't think it's that, since I did that yesterday and didn't unlock it. From what I've seen in this thread though, I'd go with:
After defeating Gloomweaver, defeat Agent of Gloom: Spite on his flipped side, with no vivtims in the Safe House and at least one drug face down.
We're drawing close to the deadline. Will they just tell us what the requirements are by the 8th, or will we have to put in the code?
I can verify that is not it. I did that with Dark Visionary, SS Tachyon and Wraith in Megopolis with no unlock.
He only had three drugs flipped and no victims in the safehouse, close to 10 victims on the firld if I'm not mistaken. pinged him down with sun bolts and damaging one-shots, nothing.
As much as I hate to say it, he may have to be taken down in Rook City. Has ANYONE unlocked Skinwalker gloom while NOT in Rook City? Cause if not, I'm saying the conditions for unlock are this:
While in Rook City defeat Agent of Gloom: Spite on his flipped side, with no victims in the Safe House and at least one drug face down.
When I got the unlock, Spite had all his drugs face up.
I believe the conditions are:
1) Defeat AoG Spite after he flips
2) in Rook City
3) with the Safe House empty
4) and with at least one victim in play.
There's no "deadline" (They're not for several expansion's yet!), there's just a date when they tell us the code. The unlock conditions don't go away if we don't find them, they're still in the game, you just have the option to use the code instead when it's released.
Will they tell us the answer? I would doubt it because finding the exact conditions is still possible. We might get more hints though…
Got it!

Dark Vision, SSTachy, Wraith in Rook City. All his drugs were flipped, and with some lucky draws early game I managed to get his damage down to a managable level early game.
Doubt this will be of any help, but he killed at least one victim.
Edit: Added in victim and deleted useless bit of link
Hope you had fun while you were there! :)
Does gloomweaver need to be defeated by relic victory, or damage. Or does it even matter. I bet him to get agent of gloom, and I bet spite a few months ago. But when I defeat spike agent of gloom with five victims out non on safe house I do not unlock gloom alternate card? I am wondering what I am missing? Thanks for any help.
Defeat standard Spite and GloomWeaver. Then, do one of the following: Defeat Spite: Agent of Gloom in Rook City on his “Broken Vessel” side with zero cards under the Safe House and five Victims in play; OR ???
[/quote]Not sure from your quote if you had the two underlined conditions.
The specific method of defeating GloomWeaver previously does not matter.
You need to have beaten Spite and GloomWeaver since the update with Infernal Relics was released.
Thanks, that is it. I have not betten spite after infernal relics.
So no one has tried looking for Unlock Method #2?
It probably has something to do with defeating Spite on the Agent of Gloom side??
The problem is that most of us can’t. If you’ve unlocked him once then there is no way to learn if we’ve met the second condition.
I'd also add that it took about a month for the first unlock condition to be found so I think people were burned out on it.
I'm thinking of looking for the second unlock condition. Anybody have any suggestions on things I could try?
I figure it has something to do with this.
Through Spite, GloomWeaver works to enter this realm in a new way: this time through a vessel of flesh. If Spite succeeds, he will build for GloomWeaver a new body from the corpses of his victims. However, if Spite fails, the dread lord of despair will overtake the shell of Jack Donovan and enter the mortal plane through undead possession!
The first condition had to do with defeating AoG Spite while lots of victims were still alive, which would probably be Spite failing and being possesed by Gloomweaver. So the second would probably have AoG Spite killing a lot of victims and/or the heroes, representing Spite making a body pile big enough for Gloomweaver to enter the physical realm.
Well, I got every Victim killed at least once. I went through them so fast that the entire deck reshuffled, and I killed a few more a second time.
The game ended on Spite's front side with no Victims in play. I'm not sure how many were in the trash, since it reshuffled, though. No unlock. Rook City, Dark Visionary, AA, SST, and O-X.
Did the heroes die too?
Yes.
I think that my next step is to try this again with the same result only first flipping to him on his Broken Vessel side. Then maybe go back and try again making sure that I have 5 victims in the trash this time.
Hmm. Maybe you need to win?
Edit: Or flip him. That also makes sense.
Welp, tried it again
Wraith, D Visionary, AA, SST. Rook City
Everyone died on his Broken Vessel side. 6 or 7 victims in the trash (all destroyed by Spite), 1 in play, 0 in safe house. 2 drugs flipped.
The alternate unlock condition will be revealed by a Squish Goal on the Kickstarter campaign, if it isn't discovered here first!
On the alternate condition: I think it involves Apostate somehow. This is largely because the front side of Skinwalker Gloomweaver’s card has the Runes of Malediction on it.
Perhaps it’s something like losing to Apostate while the Runes of Malediction are in play. But there has to be more than that.
Question: If you already have the Skinwalker unlocked, how will you know if you discover the second condition?
When the Kickstarter hits 70k and they post the second condition. :B
Yeah, it's the whole fact we don't have many left that didn't unlock it the first way that means we can't even attempt to find the second way.
My guess is that it has to do with Agent of Gloom Spite successfully completing his mission. So being defeated by AoG Spite after he has destroyed some number of Victims, or something.
Unlock condition now posted!
Yeah, no wonder we didn't find this one out, considering how difficult and luck-based it is to keep Spite from flipping more than one drug.
I can confirm that this works. I can also confirm that it's bloody near impossible.
I'm not surprised that nobody ever got it that way (or at least nobody reported getting it that way).
