Official Hint:
A prediction by Foote, a few months ago.
It is not:
Have Apostate kill Fanatic with Armor of Resurrection out. (had this happen twice). Apostate had ALL relics out.
Nor is it just losing to Apostate with Fanatic in the party.
I had Nightmist, Argent Adept and Fanatic in Tomb of Anubis
Just had Apostate land the Killing Blow to Fanatic with the card 'Fallen Angel' and then won, didn't unlock the variant. Debating if it's worth trying the same thing but losing to Apostate afterwards? I'm not sure if there's any specific enviornment to do this on, but I went with Relam of Discord.
I just had Apostate incap Fanatic using Condemnation while Absolution was out. Then went on to win the fight. No unlock. We were fighting in Megaopolis, with Visionary, Nightmist, AA, and Grampa Legacy as backup.
Tried dealing all three types of Absolution damage to Condemnation.
Destroyed Condemnation with Absolution.
Defeated Apostate using Wrathful Retribution.
All in Realm of Discord. No unlocks.
Going to try dealing all three Absolution damage types to Apostate.
Tried letting Apostate ko Fanatic with damage redirected by Divine Sacrifice.
Was in Megalopolis, Absolution and Condemnation both in play. Didn't work.
Does Apostate's deck have equipment destruction?
Yep. Imp Pilferers and Apocalypse.
Perhaps getting an imp pilferer to destroy Absolution? (Apocolypse can't as Absolution is a relic)
Apostate. Dark Visionary, Wraith, Fanatic. Dinosaur Land.
I was thinking along the same lines, tried to have Imps break Absolution. Went on to win the game. Didn't get the variant. About to try the same thing again and lose. Probably gonna try to break Absolution and lose the game in the same round.
On the plus side, setting up these situations is so much quicker with Dark Visionary.
Absolution got broken in the card Critical Multiplier in Parses's deck. In it you see Fanatic trying to hit Citizen Truth when it breaks.
I tried getting both Absoultion and the Aegis out, then getting Apostate to knock Fanatic to 0 health, followed by her defeating him with Wrathful Retribution, after she was reset to 10 health. No unlock. (I was in Megalopolis and had Legacy and Visionary as my other heroes.
Going to try stopping Apocalypse with End of Days, because why not.
After rereading her bio, I suspect you may need Apostate to defeat her, then have a rematch where she defeats him. Thus redeeming herself. Haven't been able to test yet because work and sleep seem to be "requirements" for some reason. If someone hasn't proven me wrong by this evening, I'll let you all know what happens.
Either way, I suspect this will be a multistage thing.
I just tried having Apostate wipe my team, then pressing try again. Had Fanatic play first turn Prayer of Desperation, because why not? Beat Apostate, no dice. Was at Megalopolis.
Tried my theory. Apostate finished of Fanatic, I won that match overall. Then fought again, had Fanatic take him out using her sword. No unlock.
Used Fanatic, old Legacy, ss Tachyon, Tempest, and Argent Adept. Realm of Discord.
New idea: Have Apostate incap Fanatic on his flip side?
Edit to add: Just tried it, no dice. (Maybe with Condemnation or some other variable, though?)
Tried making Apostate discard Condemnation as a result of his flip effect (delivering the hit that flipped him with Absolution. didn't work.
Haven't tried it with the flip effect back to his front side.
I did, and nope. He flipped once and destroyed his periapt of woe, then flipped again and destroyed condemnation, but Ra ended up getting the kill, right before apocalypse would have triggered.
I wondered if having the quit the game with Fanatic would work, since according to the lore, in her first battle with Apostate, she actually left the fight, didn't even finish it until later. I started a game against Apostate with Fanatic in it, didn't use the restart button, I just quit out and went back to the main menu and set it up again, no unlock there either.
Here's a few things I've tried (none of which worked, but all of which were fun):
1) Killing Apostate with Wrathful Retribution from 1 HP.
2) Killing myself with Sacrosanct Martyr, coming back with Aegis, and killing Apostate with the Radiant damage.
and my personal favorite
3) Killing Apostate by Final Diving Condemnation at him.
None of those really go with the story. I'm going to try killing him with Wrathful Retribution on the same turn I come back with Aegis.
Edit: I tried letting Apostate kill Fanatic on his flipped side. I returned with Aegis then killed him in the same round with Wrathful Retribution but no unlock.
I went poring through the story challenges forum, looking for everything I could find related to Fanatic, here's what I found:
ALL EYES ON ME: Use Divine Sacrifice on 3 Blade Battalions as Fanatic.
DIVINE EXECUTIONER: Destroy the Seer using Final Dive as Fanatic.
THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT: have Fanatic deal Infernal damage to another hero.
JUDGE AND JURY: Reduce Apostate to 0 or fewer HP using Wrathful Retribution without him every flipping as Fanatic.
Sadly, I don't know who the seer is, he probably isn't in the video game yet.
The Seer is Fnatic's mini-Nemsis in Vengeance, so isn't in them game yet.
So there's this from Redeemer Fanatic's bio:
After Fanatic was confronted by the deceiver, Apostate, she had to regroup. She spent three entire days sequestered in the bell tower of a monastery in prayer and meditation, not stopping to eat or sleep. Finally, she emerged from her requiescence, refreshed in the knowledge of her steadfast righteousness.
Fanatic has armed herself against the lies and corruption of Apostate. She stands prepared to fight by faith alone - not allowing herself to be distracted by the clamor and deceit of the world and her enemies!
Maybe she needs to spend a certain number of turns doing nothing after a condition has been met? I'm thinking probably three turns after Apostate has flipped, then she needs to defeat him.
Got Apostate to flip. Killed him with Wrathful with both Absolution and Aegis in play. No unlock.
What hero team in the lore defeated Apostate? Was fanatic even there? I know she fled but did she come back in time?
3 days she prayed/meditated.
Anybody tried playing Prayer of Desperation multiple turns in a row?
I tried four things last night that I thought had some logic, but none of them worked. They were all against Apostate but in three different environments (so hopefully the environment doesn't matter).
1) I used Prayer of Desperation when I was truly desperate (i.e., when it was the only card in my hand so I drew the full six cards).
2) I reduced Apostate to zero HP on his flipped side with the Melee damage of Exorcism. He ate his last Relic, flipped, and I finished him off with the Radiant damage from Exorcism.
3) Basically the same thing as above, but I played Smite the Transgressor (since Apostate is in the art) and flipped him with Exorcism, then finished him with Absolution.
4) I defeated Apostate with a ton of damage from Divine Focus. I don't think that Fanatic even played a card except for Divine Focus. Everything else was discard to do probably 40-50 damage with buffs.
Handelabra made a facebook post, "This is a redemption story. In order to be redeemed, one must have fallen."
The only card with "Fallen" in the title is Apostate's Fallen Angel, which is a one-shot that deals area damage and heals relics. It has a picture of Apostate holding Absolution, while Fanatic looks distraught in the background.
Maybe incap her with Fallen Angel? Or at least hit her with it before incapping her?
Here's what I just tried with no unlock success:
Fanatic has Aegis out. Apostate incapped her with Fallen Angel. On Fanatic's subsequent turn, she played Prayer of Desperation. On the turn after that, she finished off Apostate who was on his flipped side. Maybe I'm making it too complicated?
Final Dive with her being the only valid target to take out?
You can't Final Dive character cards.
I thought that was an Aegis of Resurrection reference, but people have tried that, right? Being res’d then beating Apostate?
Edit: oh yeah, right above me.
Just out of curiosity, has anybody heard of ANYBODY unlocking the Redeemer yet? It's nice that he devs threw us a bone with that hint, but I haven't heard of anybody getting her at all yet, so we don't really have much to start with besides the obvious.
Handelabra has typically posted or announced someone got an unlock. So far only Agent of Gloom Spite, DW Nightmist, and Dark Visionary have been accomplished.
The Hall of Fame only has Visionary, NightMist, and Spite.
I think Fanatic needs to be incapped in a specific way
Welcome to the forums!
I still think that Absolution and Condemnation both need to be out. I tried incapping Fanatic with Fallen Angel while both swords were present, but no luck.
On the other board, speculation right now is -
Apostate flipped
Fanatic killed and revived with Aegis, possibly with Apostate's Fallen Angel attack, possibly with Divine Sacrifice active
Prayer of Desperation for 3 turns (if this is right, you need some help from some combination of Visionary, Argent, and Tempest)
Kill Apostate with Absolution
Killing Apostate w/out Absolution appears to fail, as does an unflipped Apostate. Some speculation you need to requip Aegis, but it seems unlikely, and it's possible that the Prayer duration is either wrong or that just passing turns suffices.
Combinations of the above have unlocked Fanatic.
Sequence that got it unlocked for me, but I'm convinced there's false steps:
Apostate, Legacy, Argent Adept, Visionary, Fanatic, Tempest, Megalopolis (no alts)
Location not relevant. Heroes other than Fanatic not relevant.
Play Undaunted, Absolution, Aegis. Order does not matter.
Accumulate Divine Sacrifice and both Prayers
Flip Apostate, dealing the last blow to flip him with Absolution
Manipulate the deck to get Fallen Angel on top and Fanatic sufficiently weak
Play Divine Sacrifice, taking the damage with Fanatic until she runs out of hp and triggers her Aegis
Pass three turns playing Prayer. You'll need to put one back on top of her deck and force a draw off her turn.
Keep Apostate beat up during this process.
When she's done praying, play Aegis and take Apostate down with Absolution
Things I believe to be critical:
Apostate must be flipped
The final blow in the fight must happen with Absolution
Undaunted must be in play.
Be curious what the final conditions turn out to be, and how much of this was just dancing :)
Thanks to the folks on the Handelabra boards for getting me this far...
No Unlock, but here's how it went
Legacy, Agrent, D. Visonary, Tempest, Fanatic
In Megalopolis
Flipped Apostate then incapped Fanatic with his card damage, resurrected with Aegis.
Did nothing for 3 rounds with Fanatic (the rest of the team fought off the mounds of relics that were showing up)
Killed Apostate with Absolution
if you got the unlock did you post a picture to Handelabra over Twitter,Facebook, or Google+?
Wasn't the first or even the second. I know the first didn't want to post, but that makes it not mine.
Fair enough. You could still try to be the first to nail down the unlock steps.
I haven't found the energy to try to play Prayer of Desperation three times in a row, so I've been trying something a little more simple:
Apostate has to incapacitate Fanatic. She resurrects with Aegis. She doesn't deal damage for 3 turns. She destroys him on the 4th turn.
I had tried before with no unlock, but then realized that she had been incapacitated by environment damage. It's possible that Undaunted must be in play or that the source of the damage you destroy Apostate with matters.
I didn't play Prayer of Desperation three times and unlocked her. I did play it twice, but I don't even think the second time was necessary (though that's just a guess).
I did something very similar to your theory, but I did have Undaunted in play. The source of my final damage was Absolution dealing radiant damage.
Others have said they unlocked her even though the environment took her down originally, so the key difference between what you tried and success may indeed be Undaunted.
EDIT: to add photo in case that helps people.
Glad to see some of the steps dropping away :) Three failed unlock attempts meant that I was rubbing a lot of magic rocks along the way, just in case they were the difference.
Since I'm in no rush, I've been starting with a minimalist approach and I'm adding in more variables as I go in an attempt to find the actual conditions. I tried killing Apostate with Undaunted in play with Absolution in a game in which Aegis has triggered. That didn't work. Next I'll try the same thing with taking a turn to do Prayer of Desperation in between.
My current theory is something like "Fanatic defeats Apostate with Undaunted in play in a game in which she has been brought back by Aegis of Resurrection. Prayer of Desperation must be played after she has come back to life."
For those that got the unlocks: Was Apostate flipped or not? HAD he flipped during the game? Not sure if it matters, just checking for patterns.
In one of my failures, Apostate had not flipped, but I also didn't have Undaunted up. Pretty sure one or the other of those is required.
I just did it--Apostate never flipped.
I believe Undaunted is required.
That was exactly the thoery I operated under during my unlock. If this isn't confirmed soon, there must be some other small variable that's missing…but I'd think it's a small thing.
The small thing may be that Absolution needs to be used on the killing blow.
Just got the unlock
Apostate (of course) vs Legacy, Dark Visionary, Haka, Fanatic; in Megalopolis
Had aegis, undaunted, absoultion in play
Apostate incapped Fanatic with a redirect from divine sacrifice
Fanatic came back to life
Prayer of desperation on next turn
Next turn Absolution for the kill with radiant damage (apostate did NOT flip ever)
Screenshot attached
Unlocked!
Undaunted was in play
Apostate Flipped
Triggered Aegis (Did not use Fallen Angel to do so, although it has been played earlier in the game.)
Waited 3 turns - prayer of desparation on the first turn, skipped the other two
Killed Apostate with Absolution
Likely irrelevant, but I had Apostate play Apocalypse in 3 of the last 4 turns. Mostly because I had enough ongoing destruction to make it the most harmless card in his deck.
Just tried this without Undaunted in play, no unlock. Don't have the time tonight to test with Undaunted in play, but it's looking like that may be it.
I was on the right track way back in post #31 of this thread. If I ever played Undaunted I could've made the Hall of Fame :-)
As an aside, as frustrating as it can be to try and try and keep failing to get these unlocks, I do like that it makes me learn new ways of playing and new respect for cards I usually discard.
Just unlocked. I did lots of things wrong but I also had RL distractions. Apostate was flipped but Fanatic did not deal the blow that caused it. I used 2 meditations (first and 3rd skipped turns). I did use divine sacrifice which coincidentally apostate used fallen angel on his turn, I just survived it due to mixing up redirects.
Absolution, undaunted, and agis were in play. Fanatic did the killing blow with absolution, radiant.
Got it! Here's what I did and why I think it worked.
Fanatic had Absolution, Undaunted, and the Aegis. Used Divine sacrifice to redirect Apostate's damage to her.
Apostate have Condemnation and a relic spirit. Played Remorseless Provocation, all his damage that turn killed Fanatic, Aegis saved her.
The rest of the team weakened Apostate and Condemnation, Tempest healed and Legacy redirected all damage to himself, immune to melee and infernal.
Fanatic played Prayer of Desperation.
Environment and villian did nothing of note.
Heroes did basically the same thing with Fanatic last. Smite the Transgressor killed Condemnation and used reading damage with Absolution to finish off Apostate. Boom, Redeemer unlocked.
Apostate never flipped.
My theory; Apostate drops Fanatic to 0 with Aegis in play, used Prayer once, finish Apostate next turn with Absolution doing radiant damage. Edit: forgot to include Undaunted.
Possible variables; Divine Sacrifice and killing both Apostate and his sword in the same turn.
So if I want to make my guess official, is there anywhere special I need to post it?
MigrantP checks these forums amongst others. If someone gets it, he will make an announcement.
Just unlocked Redeemer. Legacy, Fanatic, Tempest, Wraith, Visionary in Insula Primalis vs Apostate (of course). Undaunted, Absolution and Aegis in play. Apostate used his end of turn to take her to 0 with his normal attack, using Divine Sacrafice to redirect damage. Only used one Prayer on the next turn, finishing him off on the last with Absolution. I think unlocking must involve Undaunted and Absolution out, Aegis being activated by Apostate, Prayer played on the next turn.
When I unlocked her Apostates sword was not in play, and had not been for a while.
After checking the Handelabra forums, I'm revising my theory.
Undaunted in play.
Apostate reduces Fanatic to 0 while Aegis is in play.
Pray once.
Finish Apostate with Fanatic next turn.
Sources of damage (specific cards) are not required.
I believe (but am not 100% sure) that it took me a few turns after praying to do it. Or maybe it was because Argent Adept gave Fanatic some extra plays and powers but it was still the next round?
Okay, then lets just say "finishes him." Not necessarily next turn.
I've just unlocked her and I'm pretty sure that is correct. I was all setup for the killing blow in two turns when Apocalypse came out. Had already prayed. So I then had to get Undaunted back out prior to having Fanatic deliver the final blow. To recap:
Fanatic bought down (by Bunker - I know, right? et tu Bunker?) and then back up by Aegis
Undaunted in play
Prayer after coming back (ready for the finale then Apocalypse hits)
Then, some time later (after recovering from Apocalypse), playing Undaunted again
Finishing blow with Absolution.
He also flipped back and forth during this match...really don't think this matters.
Hope this helps.
Here's the simplest theory that I could come up with:
I just did this and it worked. My theory is an attempt to weed out the steps that are unnecessary
Undaunted is in play.
Fanatic is incapacitated by any means and comes back with Aegis of Resurrection. (I was incapacitated by an exploding wagon after a lot of hard work, but I saw it through.)
Fanatic plays Prayer of Desperation on her subsequent turn.
Fanatic deals the killing blow. It doesn't have to be the turn after the PoD because some people were skipping multiple turns and still getting the unlock. I played PoD in the round that Fanatic returned and finished Apostate the next round.
The only thing I'm uncertain of is if the source of damage used for the final blow matters. On the turn that I won, I did about 8 damage with Exorcism and finished him with Radiant damage from Absolution.
Someone on the Handelabra forums said he got the unlock without using Absolution to finish Apostate. Radiant damage might be the key though, since just about all her stuff does that. Otherwise, I 100% agree with you.
So let's say Undaunted is required, the Aegis gets used (doesn't matter how), Prayer after Aegis, then Fanatic finishes Apostate. Are we missing any details?
We must be - I just did that and no unlock. I used final dive (and therefore projectile damage) to finish off Apostate.
Wish I could save and play Fanatic’s last turn again to try out a different damage type.
Undaunted was in play.
Fanatic had been resurrected by the Aegis (I had to have Haka deliver the hit to flip her
),
I had used Prayer after the flip (didn’t draw any cards, because I already had about 12 in Fanatic’s hand – I had to draw a lot to find Undaunted and the Aegis.
Fanatic then ko’d Apostate.
Silver Gulch, Apostate, Fanatic, Mr. Fixer, Dark Visionary, Argent Adept, Super-Scientist Tachyon
Got Undaunted, Aegis, and Absolution on fanatic used sacroscant martyr to flip her, had Argent use his abilities to use Prayer. Her next turn I used on of her cards to deal radiant damage (not absolution). All of Apostate's relics were in the trash. No unlock.
Unlocked.
Prime Wardens vs Apostate in Primalis.
Undaunted in play. Apostate killed Fanatic but the Argis brought her back. Played Prayer immediately after dying. Fanatic finished Apostate several turns later with radiant damage from Absolution.
Based on these recent updates, it sounds like radiant damage is required. When I did it, I used Exorcism and the second hit, the one that does radiant, is the one that killed him.
I guess that means you must trigger Aegis, then use Prayer. Then have Fanatic finish Apostate with radiant damage.
I'm still wondering if Prayer is required to be the next turn after Aegis, or if it just has to be sequential.
If I have time today, I'll even see if you need PoD at all. Maybe that's just an assumption we're all making. Can anybody else already confirm that?
I have to say, I'm a little surprised that we haven't received an official "Unlocked" update on this one yet. It seems like most people that have bothered to try have successfully unlocked Redeemer using:
Fanatic defeated by Apostate and resurrected by Aegis
Fanatic uses Prayer of Desperation
Fanatic defeats Apostate with Absolution
The only part that seems to be unclear is whether Undaunted needs to be out before she "dies" or only when she wins.
I'm curious what part of that is unnecessary and thus preventing us from "officially" unlocking the variant.
For one thing, I can confirm that Apostate does not have to be the one to damage Fanatic and trigger Aegis.
Many people, including you broccoli have described the unlock conditions nearly correctly. But I have not seen anyone say them exactly correctly =)
I thought you also had to bring the Aegis back.
My unlock went:
With Undaunted in play, Fanatic was dropped to <1 hp but saved by Aegis
Fanatic played Prayer of Deperation
Fanatic played Aegis, then hit Apostate for the killing blow.
I don't know why you have to trigger the the prayer I didn't draw any cards as my hand was full of cards so I am not entirely sure if it's part of the thing.
I unlocked it:
Haka killing fanatic, triggered aegis. Had undaunted and absolution out
next fanatic turn - prayer, drew nothing ended my turn.
next fanatic turn killed him with absolution power radiant type while he was at 2hp.
Apostate never flipped and He had no relics out when I killed him.
My guess is:
Fanatic killed (by any means) and resurrected
Prayer of Desperation played
Fanatic deals final blow to Apostate while Undaunted is in play
I got it on Steam with basically these exact conditions. I can confirm that:
Apostate never flipped. Undaunted wasn't out until AFTER she rezzed (so it doesn't need to be out before). I also drew no cards from Prayer and used Radiant damage to kill Apostate.
my guess is this with the added condition that the final damage that brings down Apostate must be radiant.
This combination has my vote as well.
I can add that Undaunted need not be out before Fanatic is killed. Also that Prayer does not have to immediately follow her Aegis resurrection. In my game, I had to go into a sort of stasis mode because I couldn't find a Prayer. Apostate sat at about 5 HP for a long time while I mostly healed and did nothing. I did skip Fanatic's turn completely more than a few times in order to get the extra draw. In the end she had about 30 cards in her hand before I saw a Prayer. There were many turns between her death and when I finally got Undaunted out and Prayer played.
I suppose I can also add that Prayer need not even be played on her turn, as I used Argent's power to let her play a card to play it. She was last in my order, and the round following her draw I had Argent let her play Prayer (no cards were drawn, obviously) and then she killed Apostate on her turn using radiant damage from Absolution.
So, it would seem that:
1. Fanatic is killed but brought back by Aegis.
2. After being brought back, Fanatic plays Prayer.
3. Fanatic defeats Apostate using radiant damage and has Undaunted out at that time.
Had Fanatic die, resurrected via aegis. Used undaunted, then killed apostate next turn with radiant damage from absolution. No unlock.
So now we're stuck throwing things at the wall to see what sticks, huh? I'll reword my theory one last time, because I know it works, but I think I stopped caring about the official answer. I'm tired and sick, so I need a break anyway. Here's what I got.
Fanatic gets reduced to zero or fewer hp with Aegis of Resurrection in play.
Then she plays Prayer of Desperation.
Fanatic defeats Apostate using radiant damage while Undaunted is in play.
All that really matters is the sequence, not the timing. You don't need to use Absolution, just radiant damage. It doesn't matter who knocks out Fanatic to trigger the Aegis.
Just fought Apostate in Megapolis, the team consisting of [old] Legacy(for an extra power use and heal), Visionary(deck searching), AA(for extra power or extra draw, whatever I get first), Tempest(for heals and such), and Fanatic(the star of the show).
Lucky enough to pull 'Undaunted' in opening hand, played first turn.(Is 'Undaunted' needed for the unlock, or have we still not figured that out yet?) 'Prayer of Desperation' either in opening hand or pulled early, can't remember.
Absolution played one or two turns later.
After alot of deck searching with the help of Viz and Legacy, finally pulled Aegis with Fanatic rather low on health.
Using 'Divine Sacrifice', Fanatic goes down from Apostate's relic fuled onslaught, but then comes back. 'Prayer' played next turn.
At some point in the fight, attach 'Twist the Aether' on Fanatic, guaranteeing boosted radiant damage.
Proceed to clean out relics and chip Apostate down, until AA is able to make Fanatic play ' Wrathful Retribution' on his turn, resulting in an over-kill from Fanatic.
No unlock...
I want to know, does the final strike from Fanatic have to be from Absolution? Or does the kill HAVE to be made on her actual turn?
I think if you put together all the reports of unlocks and not-unlocks reported here, our forum, and Steam forums, you could determine with reasonable certainty what the conditions are. Keeping in mind that without screenshots/log you cannot 100% believe any particular report (including your own).
Fanatic deals killing blow to Apostate while Undaunted is in play and both Aegis and Prayer have been used.
Ya know....thinking about things that people might have done without thinking about it....and going off card art....
Fanatic defeats Apostate with Absolution while Undaunted is out.
Aegis of Resurrection, Prayer of Desperation, and Smite the Transgressor must have been used.
If not just that, then adding "must have used Exocism against Apostate" or possibly "must have used Exorcism and Absolution in the same round."
Don't think I used Smite. Definitely didn't in the last round so I think that's a red herring.
We know that it doesn't matter who brings Fanatic down to zero, as long as she uses Aegis, correct? She could even do the dammage to herself?
Correct, I actually got her to 0 with Sacrosanct Martyr when I unlocked her (because Apostate only hits the highest consistently)
Apostate never flipped. He popped her aegis with fallen angel. Played prayer out of turn from argent adept. Skipped everyone else’s turn the last round since Fanatic was last. She had undaunted the whole time. Finished with radiant from absolution.
Got the unlock
I don’t remember playing smite the transgressor or zealous offense.
Got it. Fanatic had aegis and absolution in play. Legacy reduced her hp to 0, revived by aegis. Played prayer. 2 turns later incapped Legacy lets Fanatic use a power out of turn. Killed Apostate with radiant damage from absolution. Apostate never flipped.
Fanatic deals killing blow to Apostate using Radiant damage while Undaunted is in play and both Aegis and Prayer have been used?
I used 'Twist the Aether' on fanatic to get guaranteed radiant damage, but does that not count in some way?
For thhose who unlocked Redeemer, when you landed the finishing blow, was your damage boosted in any way?
I think mine was, but that seems unlikely to matter, in my opinion (especially as all damage that Fanatic deals to Apostate is boosted, due to the nemesis bonus). And radiant damage is radiant damage - if that's one of the requirements, Twist the Ether shouldn't matter. Can you give a full log of what you did? Maybe we can figure out what you missed.
I did, it's a few posts up.
I've tried several more times, though I took Tempest out of the team to cut down on all the extra 'H' damage.
Whoops. Once again, I fail at reading.
Hm...
Did Fallen Angel ever get played? There was some speculation earlier that Fantic needed to be killed by it, and while that doesn't seem to be the case, perhaps she needs to be hit by it.
In which case, my revised (again) guess is that:
Fanatic deals killing blow to Apostate using radiant damage while Undaunted is in play and Aegis and Prayer, and Fallen Angel have all been used?
(Possibly without the radiant damage requirement.)
Arr!!! still no unlock.
Aegis had been popped (had Bunker deliver the hit that did it.)
Used Prayer immediately after, and actually drew cards.
Undaunted had been in play for some time, as had Absolution.
Fanatic delivered the knockout hit with Radiant damage from wrathful retribution.
Apostate had used fallen angel.
no unlock!
Now I got her!
Ra, Adept, Visionary, Fanatic vs. Apostate in Megalopolis
Fallen angel had been played, twice.
Undaunted was in play before the Aegis knockout/resurrection
Ra delivered the hit causing Fanatic to resurrect.
Adept let Fanatic play the Prayer out of turn (no cards were drawn, Fanatic already had >6,
Fanatic used radiant damage from Absolution for the win.
Apostate had no other cards in play. Fanatic’s only other card in play was a “Chastise” on Targeting Innocents.
Apostate was still on his initial side.
I should note from my previous attempt that the triggered Aegis was no longer in Fanatic’s discard pile (came back from the Red Dust effect.)
I can hammer down the fact the Undaunted needs to be in play at the time of Apostate's defeat.
This is seriously getting stupid. I've tried at least 4 times a day, still no unlock. Aegis and Undaunted in play, Fallen Angel played, Fanatic comes back and plays Prayer and a few turns later she wipes out Apostate with Radiant damage. Still no unlock.
Does Aegis have to be put back in play since she gets new armor in the story? When does Fallen angel need to be played, before or after Fanatic comes back? And does the killing blow on Apostate have to occur when he has nothing on the field?
Did you have Absolution in play as well?
Aegis does not need to return to the field (It was still gone when I achieved victory). The killing blow needs to occur when there are no villain relics in play (because otherwise he flips instead), but I don't remember if I had any demons in play when I killed him.
I wish I could help you more.
Have you seen Apocalypse come out? It definately doesn't need to go off, but maybe it needs to make an appearance? I'm grasping at straws.
Yes I had Absolution out, and I think Apocalypse at least made an appearance.
Fanatic doesen't have to kill Apostate the turn after she uses Prayer, does she?
No. I used Prayer and then passed two turns with Fanatic before killing Apostate.
Just got it. Here is what I had.
Team : Grampa Legacy, Ra, Haka, Visionary, Fanatic (in that order)
Location : Megalopolis
1) Divine Sacrifice was used - helped get her HP down
2) Sacrosanct Martyr was in play - also used to get her HP down
3) Aegis of resurrection was used - Ra fire blasted her to get her down
4) Prayer of Desperation was used - after Aegis
5) Undaunted was in play - but never used
6) Absolution was used with radiant damage for the kill (note Apostate never flipped)
I think that the missing ingredient is Sacrosanct Martyr. I had used divine sacrifice previously and got nothing it is possible that both are needed, but now that I have the unlock I can't go back and check.
PS - I did use smite the transgressors early in the game) and there was a relic spirt in play when I got him down. Obviously no relics as he did not flip.
Maybe. But I don't think that I used Sacrosanct Martyr. It's possible, I suppose, but I tend to avoid it as a rule.
I also don't think I used Sacrosanct Martyr. I also tend to avoid it but can't remember for certain about that game.
Likewise, my wife and I played together on her iPad to unlock Reedemer Fanatic there, and I'm pretty sure we didn't use it then either.
I probably did not use Sacrosanct, as I almost never play it.
What platform are you playing on? I've had trouble getting unlocks on Android, but I seem to be the only one. If you're on Android like me, then try taking screenshots before and after the unlock conditions occur and opening a task with Handelabra. They're currently trying to see if they can figure out why my unlocks aren't working. As near as I can tell, they work fine on all the other platforms. I've know that I've had no difficulty on my Steam version.
No, I'm on Steam. And I'm fairly certain it isn't a bug since I've been able to unlock the variants for the three other heroes. I haven't worked on AoG Spite or SW Gloom yet.
There's gotta be something that we haven't hammered down yet in particular about the conditions for this.
Blast it!!! No unlock!
Legacy, Haka, Fanatic, Visonary, Wraith in Atlantis.
Absolution, Undaunted, easy to get out. Ageis the last 2 cards in her deck. Eventually Ageis, flips to Martyr. Font of Power plays Prayer off turn, next turn Ageis back out Martyr kills it for Fanatic to finish off Apostate.
Apocalypse, Fallen Angel, heck all Apostate's deck came out at some point.
Any clue why it didn't unlock this time?
Two possibilities
1) Divine Sacrifice is needed.
2) The kill must come from absolution.
This one is definitely tricky. If you want a break do spite agent of gloom. He is pretty easy.
I think all of the successful reported unlocks have been with Absolution dealing the damage. Is there anyone who has unlocked without Absolution dealing the final blow?
I tried projectile (final dive) and radiant (wrathful ret.) and neither worked. Got it by using radiant from Absolution.
There was one report from another forum that said that they got it without using Absolution. I'm wondering if they were mistaken, though, as nobody here has replicated that feat.
New guess:
Fanatic deals killing blow to Apostate using Absolution while Undaunted is in play and Aegis, Prayer, and Fallen Angel have all been used?
Partially correct!
You could say that about pretty much any guess that included at least one accurate requirement. Is it more correct than the other guesses?
What if I said that
Indeed! It's more correct in some ways and less correct in other ways! ![]()
Fanatic deals killing blow to Apostate using radiant damage from Absolution while Undaunted is in play and Aegis, Prayer, and Fallen Angel have all been used?
How many hints do you guys want? I could give you lots of hints, or you could solve it on your own.
How about now?
I GOT HER! I FINALLY UNLOCKED REDEEMER FANATIC!

I AM NEVER FIGHTING APOSTATE AGAIN!
I'm almost positive that Reverend Pete has it right, 'Fanatic deals killing blow to Apostate using radiant damage from Absolution while Undaunted is in play and Aegis and Prayer have been used'.
Finally got it!!!!
Legacy, Visionary, Haka, Fanatic, and Wraith in Atlantis
Ageis, Undaunted, Absolution
Ageis destroyed (by sucicide), replayed Ageis and Prayed. Next turn took out Apostate with Absoultion (radiant damage)
Unsure direct requirements, but toughts:
Ageis must activate, Prayer after, Undaunted in play and final strike with Absolution. (Unsure if damage type matters, but source does.)
riff.freelance is correct. And thus the exact unlock condition has been discovered by the community. Some incorrect reports led people astray for quite some time, but the body of evidence became clear eventually!
Defeat Apostate with damage dealt by Fanatic using the power on “Absolution.” Undaunted must be in play. Prayer of Desperation must have been played at some time after Fanatic was restored by Aegis of Resurrection.
YAY!!! I was helpful! This makes me feel cool.
Gah, were we really that close? The radiant damage threw us all off the trail.
Yeah damage type has nothing to do with it =)
