So I've played been playing the video game for a few months now, averaging 2-4 games a week, and gotten to know all decks in it pretty well. And suddenly it doesn't feel as tedious to pull out the cards and play a solo game with 3-4 heroes because I want to try out a variant, hero, or environment that isn't released yet/fanmade.

I think it's because since I know the cards so much better, I'm not reading through them all every turn to make sure I haven't missed an effect that would trigger, or something I forgot about, which is honestly what made the base game so tedious for me to begin with. Counting HP has never been that big of an annoyance for me, it's knowing the cards and what they do without having to constantly reread them to remind myself of what's supposed to happen next. I'm now confident enough to just pull them out and play.

Last night I pulled out the cards and played a solo 3 hero advanced game against Miss Information in the Final Wasteland with Infinite Scholar, Redeemer Fanatic, and Team Leader Tachyon, and had a great time! Tachyon Incapped, because Miss Information targets those with the lowest hp, and so do many of the cards in the Final Wasteland. Miss Information with 2 damage reduction is freaking tough to work with, since she also does 2-damage to anyone who hits her, it makes it not worth plinking her for 1 damage at a time. I was milling Fanatic's deck for Wrathful Retribution (Which was in the last 3 cards, so it took a while) I used a couple Turn Loose's from Scholar and doubled that damage for most of her HP, then finally got the Wrathful Retribution which finished her. End of Days was actually a really useful card and played twice, because Miss Information destroys all our ongoing/equipment anyway, and I could use it to abuse the ancient library in the environment.

I guess it stems from the fact that my enjoyment of this game entirely comes from figuring out the puzzle inherent in each deck and team combination. Once I've figured out those puzzles, and how to play difficult cards, I get bored and look for the next puzzle. So the Variants and fan-made decks really enhance the playability, and get me excited.

Does anyone else feel like the Card Version is suddenly more acccessible now they've played the video game for a while?

Having built up my knowledge of the decks one game/expansion at a time, it's been a long, long time since I felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of knowledge one needs in order to play fluidly w/out having to learn a lot from most of the cards. So, no, the video game didn't make the card game more accessible for me, but I could certainly see how it might for someone newer to the game.

It helped me to play the original set of heroes a lot more then I had been.   Also, it allowed me to develop strategies with heroes that don't see the table often giving me a much better appreciation for AZ.

I would say it helped me a bit. I started right before the rook city infernal relics expansion came out and probably got everything in the game at once. Allows me to go through a bit slower to learn the decks. So for the most villains I had only played them once or twice. Now with the app I have probably played each villian and hero at least 30 times. I got a couple other people who want the app but not till multiplayer is here.

I've definitely been a lot more open to playing random or with heroes that I didn't think would work well together than I was with the phsyical version; this is largely due to the reduced setup and take down time. I can usually play the digital version in about twenty minutes- a long game once took about forty. With the physical version? I usually take an hour in all, with some games taking twice that long. When a game is much shorter but still has the same content? I'm much more willing to try a match that has the odds stacked against me.

I've had the card game since the first edition and have all the expansions, but I unfortunately don't get a chance to play it all that much (something that is hopefully changing soon).

So, the video game has absolutely helped me understand how some characters play a lot better. The videos they do every week have helped a ton as well.
