The idea of this thread is to have a dedicated place to discuss your many attempts at trying to unlock the variants in the new Rook City expansion.
This thread will contain spoilers so do not read on if you want to find them on your own!

Yeah, I haven't found any yet.
I have tried (using mostly Rook City and Insula Primalis for environment, with some megalopolis):
I am very much stumped. Hats off to Handelabra for making this hard, back to the drawing board.
I also just tried this one (before reading your extensive list), I tried it against Blade in Wagner Mars Base.
I wonder if it might be to do with using all your ammo in a single turn? Or using multiple ammo on Pride & Prejudice?
As a side note I do hope that Handelabra are not using the "must have defeated X previously" condition like they did for e.g. Mad Bomber Blade. The game has been out for a while and most people trying for the unlocks on launch day will have been playing the game for a long while, probably covering most (if not all) of those types of possibilities.
Maybe some shenanigans with the time portal cards in Silver Gultch and Legacy to unlock past-Legacy?
I think we are assuming that they are using the same formula, the initial variants seem like introductions to mechanics rather than a challenge.
Also, saving the potential sidekick as legacy does not work
It's not "Kill Dawn with Expat in the team without her flipping."
Also, it's not "Have Dawn kill herself", Expat would have done it if Dawn hadn't Channeled her Eclipse!
From the app
assault rifle, tactical shotgun with incendiary rounds pride and prejudice both with hollow points
someone on steam said they got greatest legacy on Ambuscade in Silver Gulch. He only had Absolut Zero left standing
Did this work or is this in response to someone else's comment?
Some more exact details -
The team was Unity, Absolute Zero and Expatriette.
Unity and Expatriette were both incapacitated.
Absolute Zero finished off Ambuscade with Cryo Chamber's power and Isothermic Transducer.
Absolute Zero finished on 1HP.
Both Explosives Wagons had been played.
Both Explosives Wagons were destroyed in the same turn.
Trapped in the Past was the only Environment card in play.
Its in the background which i think might help
So it's a guess rather than a statement of how you did it? (not that there's anything wrong with a guess, just trying to be clear)
Note from the Handelabra site: Due to the iOS delay the Steam/Android versions initially did not have the new variant cards unlockable. But now they have been updated so you can have your chance at qualifying for the Hall of Fame! Tweet/FB/G+ a screenshot of your new variant unlock to us and you can get on the board!
So those earlier attempts may need to be re-tried.
Dark Wath Fixer has been unlocked by "some bloke", Handelabra just tweeted it! No details on how, though it does look like Mr Fixer is incapped.
The time they released the 'unlock patch' was during their stream last night, so from 3am UTC on the 15th (adjust for your own timezone).
From what was said on the Handelabra forums, he was incapped by the chairman's retaliatory damage whilst he had bloody knuckles out in Rook City .
Using all 4 ammo in an unload with Expat failed, it was in IP vs. Dawn.
Expat killing something with hairtrigger reflexes (boosted with galvanize, inspiring presence, and imbued fire) also isn't it. That was a fun game versus Voss, though. Pillars of Hercules? Don't mind if I do! Oh no, not more minions!
I just confirmed what people have been submitting for Grandpa Legacy:
Conditions:
One thought on expat is that it may have to do with her flak jacket. The legacy, fixer, and villain variants all have to do with story, so maybe hers' does too.
Fixer just was incapped by The Chairman's retaliation damage with Bloody Knuckles in play. Nothing.
Fixer had hoist chain in play, Operative was still active. This was on advanced.
I then won the game (SST + Expatriette is amazing), and no unlock. Anyone had this work?
Also:
Used all 4 ammo types with just P and P, nothing.
In the comics, Fixer is killed by the Operative before he is brought back to life by Zhu Long.
Get Operative to kill Fixer instead of the Chairman. See if that helps.
Yeah, my guess which i havent attempted yet was to die to the operative in Rook City. Bbut i figured it wouldn't work because they did that already with Young Legacy
Young Legacy died to the Operative in Rook City too?
Not using Pride and Prejudice with two ammo cards on each.
Not using Prejudice twice in one round. (That's one I didn't realize was possible before the video game! Nice!)
Actually yeah, you guys might not know this, but young legacy died whilst fighting the operative in an ice cream eating contest. If you thought your brainfreeze was bad, imagine how bad a super brain freeze is. Killed her on the spot
Refering to you unlock Young Legacy by having Legacy incapped by Baron Blade in Wagner Mars Base.
Someone on Twitter I think has said they got the unlock by being incapped by The Chairman.
Hopefully the story behind the unlock conditions is told once they're figured out.
Maybe they jsut meant the Deck and not the Target? Idk. You all got this though.
So greatest legacy doesn't need any incaps to unlock. As far as I can tell it requires beating ambuscade in silver gulch with unity in your party, and lost in the past is in play. You may have to use the explosive wagon to kill him but that is unconfirmed.
It might be that AZ has to get the last hit.
Was playing Silver Gulch: Legacy, AZ, ExP, MrF. Lost in Time was in Play. Everyone was down except AZ. The Sustain the Portal card came into play and killed Ambuscade netting me the win but no unlock.
I think unity has to be on the team, and AZ has nothing to do with it
just getting Fixer incapped by the Chairman doesn't do it, unless advanced mode blocks it.
I just unlocked Grandpa Legacy with Expatriette being the last one standing. AZ & Ra were incapped, Explosives Wagon & Lost in the Past were in play. Ambuscade had only a Sonic Mine left in play, if that matters.
So, I'm guessing the condition is beating Ambuscade in Silver Gulch with Lost in the Past in play and only one hero left standing.
It's not this (or just this). I just played a 3 player game with Visionary, Unity and Ra. Lost was in play and there was no unlock.
So killing fixer with the chairman (target) in rook city does not work. There's more to it. The Operative was dead
I unlocked it without any heroes going down.
Beat Ambuscade with Unity on the team and Lost In The Past in play, didn't unlock. Definitely something more to it than that. (It was Legacy, Tachyon, Visionary, and Unity.)
My team was unity tempest haka, all three were in their teens. A reactive plating was out, and so was 2 explosive wagons and lost in the past. I killed him by blowing up one of the wagons with platform bot, and the wagon killed him. if any of that helped, great. I had seen pratt and all 3 hayes brothers.
Just unlocked Grandpa Legacy-
Silver Gulch - Lost in Time was in play- Explosive Wagon had come into play earlier but was not in play when I won.
Ex-Pat - Unity - Absolute Zero
Ambuscade (charged attack in play)
Unity and Ex Pat were both up.
AZ got the last hit in with hit power and all his gear in play (Cold, Hot and Gloves)
As Humble-Knight said. It might be as simple as winning with Unity and Lost in Time in play, but that doesn't seem to work for everyone.
So I tried AZ, Expat, and Ra against Ambuscade in Silver Gulch, Lost In The Past (and Explosives Wagons) were in play, villain defeated (by a wrathful gaze) with nobody incapped, Greatest Legacy Unlocked. Here's a screenshot!
http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/535142704793131074/2A3DE02C2288B9EBA75E89C3904026944C6EC6B3/
So, it's sounding like beating Ambuscade in Silver Gulch with Lost in the Past and one or more Explosives Wagons in play is the way to unlock Grandpa.
EDIT - it could also work if Explosives Wagon Is in the trash.
Looks like it's more about AZ than unity then.
Looks like it. Maybe AZ is well-equipped to wake an iconic WWII hero from cryosleep.
Could it have anything to do with only using 3 heroes? Most of the other unsuccessful attempts have had 4+ heroes on the team. Matchstickman had an unsuccessful attempt with only 3, but he didn't mention the Wagon at all.
A (singular) wagon was in play, Mr Chomps (or his twin) got inthe final hit.
The Wagon wasn't out when I unlocked him.
Maybe Charged Attacks is a factor as well?
What about previous win conditions? Have people beaten new villains before trying this unlock?
I only beat the Matriarch (Legacy, Expat, Tachyon, Tempest) before unlocking Gung-Ho Legacy.
I had beaten The Matriarch and Plague Rat before unlocking Grandpa Legacy.
Won with fanatic, ra, az, lost in time out, EW in play, charged attacks in play, tyler in trash.
No gramps. Have beaten everyon but matty, she got so lucky in megalopolis.
Edit:
Went and beat Matty (SST + Expat is now my go to team for a win.) went back did Amby in SG, won with everyone standing and lost in time in play.
Looks like beat Matty, then Ambuscade in SG with lost in time in play.
That's not quite what the answer must be
for I've defeated the Matriarchy
and then fought against 'scade
in the desert without shade
But no Greatest Legs did I see.
I've beaten Spite, Plague Rat, and the Matriarch, and then fought Ambuscade w/ Expat, Fixer, and Legs in Silver Gultch. Lost in the Past came out early, as did Sustain the Portal. Killed him with no incaps.
was lost out when you won?
Also I used AZ, that might be involved.
Just unlocked Gramps with the AZ, ExPat, Unity combo.
Lost in the past was out
All 3 were single digit HPs
I have not beat any of the rook city villians yet, too busy playing with the new (to me) heroes.
ExPat got the kill.
Yeah, I'm starting to suspect that all the heroes need to be in battle-damaged (less than ten hit points) mode? It was def the case for my unlock as my screenshot shows.
I just tried...
Ambuscade in Silver Gulch
3 heroes, Legacy, Expat, Unity
Explosives Wagon has been and gone, Lost In The Past was in play when Ambuscade was beaten.
Heroes finished the match at 10, 7 and 5 respectively.
No unlock. Darn it!
Yup I think that's it. I was there with my people. My other thought was that the gunmen need to have been beaten, because if you look at his story, he's supposed to be a marksman. Just a thought, but battledamaged seems to be the solution.
My heroes were at pretty high HP, mid to upper teens. There was no difference of note that I can think of in my 2 attempts other than the second had Mr. Fixer instead of Fanatic and I went and beat Matty.
Sheriff Pratt had been and gone when I unlocked him.
I had only beat the Sniper Hayes and the Dual-Pistol Hayes. They were both in the trash along with an explosive wagon, a barrel and some portals. Lost in Time was in play. And my heroes were all at less than 10 hp.
Having all heroes on low-health at the time you win is being floated as another key part.
If low health counts as 14-19, because my heroes were at 14, 17 and 19 if , I remember right.
I think mine were in the low teens
And that's why you should always take a screenshot when you unlock a variant!
At what HP level do the heroes start showing battle damage in the video game's art? Maybe they'd base it off that, since they already built it in.
9 or lower health.
FYI, there is a bug in the Dark Watch Mr. Fixer unlock condition that makes it a little easier to get than it should be. It will be fixed in the next update ;)
Beat Ambuscade in Silver Gulch with Legacy at 7, Unity at 5, and Expatriette at 8 HP. Explosives Wagon and Lost in Time were both in play, with Matthew and Tyler Hayes both destroyed, no unlock.
Maybe it has to do with the three Hayes brothers after all? Never did get to Cyrus.
I never saw Matthew in my unlock.
Got Old Legs. Ambuscade vs Expat, Fixer, and AZ in Silver Gulch. Everyone was at 5hp except Expat who was at 3. I never even saw Lost in Time, though I had a single Sustaining the Portal come out as a result of a Temporal Event card.
I had an Explosives Wagon up the whole time, more or less. I got Matthew Hayes and Tyler Hayes, and the Sheriff was out when I won, though Expat did the final damage with her Tactical Shotgun with Incendiary Rounds. The Wagon never exploded. I had one Sonic Mine that went off, a Barrel, a Trough... and I think that's it.
So I know we don't need Unity, we don't need Lost in Time. Maybe it's just about having 3 heroes beat Ambuscade in Silver Gulch? Has anyone tried beating any other villain in Silver Gulch with the new heroes?
EDIT: For completion's sake, I have beaten Plague Rat and Spite once each, but I haven't even come close to the Chairman, and the Matriarch is a mocking silhouette on the horizon.
So i had mr fixer killed by the chairman in Rook city, and nothing happened, so it's more than just that for Dark Watch Fixer
You didnt use AZ
Might it have to do with the type of damage that defeats Ambuscade? I'm seeing lots of fire damage being the final blow. Maybe projectile and/or cold works?
Or maybe not.
I thought they were going to list how to unlock these folks on the webpage once someone had so we didn't scramble like this? :P Hopefully they do soon, I want to get these guys active!
I was under the impression that they were going to post them once someone had figured out the exact steps?
After the method for unlocking a given variant is discovered by the community, we will add that info to a page on our website, and this page will be linked to from within the game.
Sounds like the exact condition has to be discovered as well.
Ah, that is sort of sad, but does seem to be the way of things. Guess I'll just tune out for a while and stop getting my hopes up that it'll be posted soon. Thanks!
I had a sucessful unlock after hearing about the low health condition.
Expat, AZ, and Unity vs Ambuscade at Silver Gulch. Endgame was Expat at 7 hp with Pride, Assault Rifle and Prejudice. Unity at 5 hp had Stealth, Swift, Turret, 2 Platforms and a Bee Bot out. AZ at 8 hp with Isothermic and Apertures out. Ambuscade had nothing in play.
Environment had Lost in the Past and 1 Wagon. I never saw any of the gunman or sheriff in play, but one gunman (the 2 lowest for 3 guy) was milled by Sustain the Portal. The final move was Sustain the portal hitting Ambuscade, then Bee Bot, who finished off Ambuscade.
The only major difference I can tell between this and other attempts I've made is the hero's HP. Normally AZ is full at the end of my games, but I kept him low on purpose this attempt. It ?worked?
Good luck everyone, gonna go ram Fixer's face into the Chairman before MigrantP patches out the 'easier' method.
Filling in what happen for me.
beat spite and matriarch earlier.
team was unity, absolute zero, and visionary in silver gulch and lost in time was out.
unity was at 1, visionary was at 2, and absolute zero was at 7 ---- this throws out idea that absolute zero has to be final card.
Absolute zero had basically 3 equipments and all of his ongoing that do damage.
unity had a chomps platform and champion out.
visionary nothing important since not everyone who unlocked had her out.
Due to lost in time everything in environment deck had hit field at some point.
couple things that need to be checked still from reading:
Does 3 players have to be there? - someone use my team with an extra hero and check.
does ambuscade need to flip? - probably will happen but doesn't hurt to check
what other environment need to have been played? - I went threw whole environment deck so not sure.
does absolute zero or unity have to be there - someone take my team and sub for unity and another sub for absolute zero and let's check. Edit: looks like it has been checked unity is not needed.
does lost in time have to be out - has anyone checked this?
I wonder if it has to be characters that don't show up in the Silver Gulch cards.
I unlocked it with mr. Fixer in my group.
I had Expatriette & Ra when I unlocked him, and they both show up in the Silver Gulch cards.
Also, Ambuscade had had Charged Attacks out during the battle, so that might have some bearing on it.
Just throwing this out -- what if there is some sort of global damage threshold?
Here's what I'm thinking...Ambuscade and Silver Gulch both have lots of projectile (and fire) damage. Lots of people have unlocked using expat (projectile) and AZ (fire...sort of).
What if the grizzled WWII hero shows up in response to lots of gunfire and things blowing up? (projectile damage and fire damage).
What if the unlock is something like 150 or 200 total projectile/fire damage has to be dealt (in total over heroes, villians, and environment) by the end of the game? Maybe the heroes also have to win. That would explain some of the low HP totals of heroes at the end, too.
If Handelabra is working on some sort of stat tracking, this might be a way to "test it out."
Crazy?
The previous poster used Expat and Ra to unlock...
Yes, lost in the past has been ruled out, but not all time portals.
I haven't beat spite yet, but I've beat everyone else. I had expat, rook city wraith, and AZ, one Explosive Wagon in play, never blown up. Expat was at 10hp, everyone else was below. So, that may have been what I was missing, unless I need to beat Spite beforehand.
I had not yet defeated Spite when I unlocked it.
I'd only beaten Plague Rat and Matriarch
I'd only beaten Plague Rat and Spite.
Just unlocked gpa legacy. Used expat,az,unity. az waz only one standing. Seen all portals but not all brothers. Charged attacks was in play. Az was at 6 hp. Had only beaten plague rat. Can upload unlock pic if needed.
A couple of notes:
Grandpapa Legacy - I tried with Legacy, Exp, Fixer, and AZ. Lost in the Past and Wagon were out, all relatively healthy, no unlock.
Darkwatch Exp - It is NOT using RPG Launcher on a Pterodactyl. Nor is it using Unload to fire every single weapon at Dawn (and kill her in the process).
I'm wondering if unlocking Old Legs has to do with just playing with three heroes. That's a common string throughout all the posts I've seen that have unlocked him, and in my 4-hero attempts and others here on the forum, it's never seemed to work.
Another run at Grandpapa Legacy
Using tarsonas as a template, I used Exp, Unity, and AZ. They ended at 11/9/11, respectively. Explosives Wagon was out, and 1 temporal event and sustain the portal were in the trash. AZ ended it by responding to the Explosives Launcher and using the damage to kill Amb.
Fire Dancer says here http://handelabra.com/forum/ that he had 4. Also no AZ.
did this unlock though? If not then this kills the idea that 3 heroes are needed and no more
Someone on the Handelabra forum recently did the unlock with 4 heroes. All were under 10 HP at end.
Anyone think there's credence to the theory that it is the amount of bullets flying and things blowing up that has to do with the unlock? (total # of projectile/fire damage?)
Lots of people seem to be using Expat, Ra and AZ…
Do we know that Ambuscade needs to be the villain? Maybe it just has to do with Silver Gultch and the portal?
No, it did not.
Yeah, the fact that MOST of the unlocks occur with low health, but Phanta (I think it was Phanta?) did it with folks in the teens makes me thing that maybe total damage dealt is the key. In Phanta's case, there could have been a lot of healing or a lot of damage dealt to things other than the heroes (like Env targets).
Another fail. Exp, Ra, AZ - 14/12/9 at the end. AZ killed him with "after" damage from Thermal Shockwave.
On the steam forum, someone confirmed they used more than 3 heroes.
I think the massive fire and or projectile damage is a good idea. Ambuscade does do plenty of fire and projectile damage to everyone, and explosive wagons do 6 of that to every target too.
Has anyone considered that it might have to do with the number of cards left in the discard pile? The Time Cataclysm goes off when the discard pile is empty. I just unlocked Grandpa Legacy with 1 card left in the discard pile.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=425866847
I unlocked Old Legs and never saw Lost in Time play. I had a Temporal Event that played a Sustain the Portal, but no Lost in Time countdown.
Er… your picture shows 3 cards in the discard pile.
You're right. There are three. I must have killed two environment targets during my last couple turns or something.
I used Unity, A/Z and Expat. Chomps was final bite. Single digit heroes all (on purpose), a ton of bots in play and Lost with a damage booster.
no I had 9 in there so that is probably out
Just got it.
Exp, Bunker, Ra, and AZ. Figured if we were trying for heavy projectile/fire, then Bunker was a good add. Mine were are 7/5/8/7, respectively. Starting to wonder if Phanta's was a bug.... :)
Have people defeated Plague Rat before unlocking? In my fightvAZ dropped below 10 but finished at 14, so maybe you have to get down but not finish there.
I don't think it is hp, maybe something AZ brings, like total damage dealt to heroes, healing, or self damage?
Other things that could be involved:
1. Explosives Wagon being in play.
2. Maybe both events have to have hit the field.
3. Hayes brothers having shot heroes.
Ugh, now it's really bugging me.
*sacrifices duck*
I cast summon mod!
Can one of you edit the subject of this thread so there isn't a capital i in City
i only beat spite and matriarch before unlocking.
Done.
Just got Gramps. AZ, Unity, Fixer, Expat. Silver Gulch vs Ambuscade. 'scade taken out via Explosives Wagon x2 snowball. All heroes below 10, none incapped. Lost in Time was out.
-Brian
edit: what about Dawn taking out Expat? anyone tried that?
Don't make me sacrifice a horse and call down an Administrator.
This is your thread, change it.
(At least, I thought you can change it, if not, my mistake, and I will do it.)
Huh, I didn't think you could but you can. (Yes, I retyped every I/l looking letter incase you snuck a capitalised i in as an l or vice verse).
I faced Ambuscade in Silver Gulch with AZ, Expat, Ra, and Unity. Got Lost in Time in play, one of the Hayes brothers killed, no explosive wagons. All heroes were in the teens or worse when Ambuscade went down to a Tactical Shotgun with Incendiary rounds. Greatest Legacy unlocked!
I think the key is killing Ambuscade with fire in Silver Gulch.
i killed him with cold final damage.
also had fixer die to retaliation with bloody knocks out against chairman in rook city and won, no unlock.
Just played vs. Ambuscade in Silver Gulch with AZ, Mr. Fixer, Expatriette, and Haka.
Made sure all of them were at 9 health or less. Haka defeated Ambuscade with Taiha.
This unlocked Grandpa Legacy.
I would be very interested to see an unlock screenshot from phantaskippy.
Unlocked Jerk Legacy with Expat, Bunker and Ra against Ambuscade in Silver Gulch.
Lost in the Past was in play, as well as an Explosive Wagon. All heroes were sub-10 HP. Expat should have gotten the kill with a full-gun Unload, but I forgot that order is important to get to use Predjudice (or is it Pride? I can never remember) twice so I didn't use the SMG. Bunker was happy to mop up Ambuscade's one remaining health with his Gatling Gun straight after though.
I suspect the unlock condition is just "do X damage during the game" (possibly limited to a certain type of damage).
I could be wrong, maybe it was 9 hp instead of 19 for Fixer, I really thought it was 19, but I could be wrong, hp wasn't what I was paying attention to. I know AZ was at 14 and Expat 17 because I healed up with AZ because I was trying to pull off an unload with Expat, and she had used Flak Jacket like 4 times that game.
I like the projectile/ fire damage thing. It would explain why I got the unlock, I used Turret bot aggressively, tempest used a lot of squalls, and between the gunmen and the explosive wagon there was plenty of flak flying around.
I just unlocked Old Legacy, defeated Ambuscade in Silver Gulch with Ex-Pat, Absolute Zero, and Fanatic. The exploding barrel's fire damage triggered Absolute Zero's Flame inducement, and he did his cold damage to Ambuscade to finish him off. No Time Portal was in place, Lost in Space and Time never showed up. I think it is Cold damage in Silver Gultch, defeating Ambuscade.
Umm, I did it without AZ. And lot's of people have finished him without AZ striking the final blow.
from the comment above I think at least one hero below 10 hp is key, and I misremembered Fixers hp.
A lot of talk about grandpa legacy, has anyone had any luck with the other two?
I've had Fixer incap from damage from Chairman and Operative, in Rook City, and even went on to win both, no unlock.
I've tried Expat using all ammo types in one turn bothwith and without unload, blown up stuff with RPG, nothing.
I did try at dark watch fixer i tried the following, to no avail (all of these were in Rook City):
-Have mr Fixer Die to the chairman (target) while the Operative was incapacitated
-Have mr Fixer die to the chairman (target) before he flips
-Have m fixer die to the chairman (target) and then win the game
-Have Mr. Fixer have a style, tool and Harmony (this one was not against the chairman, but it was in Rook City)
It's not "have at least 100 Projectile damage dealt by all parties in Silver Gultch 1883", Expat, Bunker and The Wraith had no trouble beating Ambuscade but Greatest Legacy did not come out to play.
I just unlocked Grandpa Legacy with Ra, Unity, Visionary at 2 HP and Expat at 1. Explosives Wagon, Tyler Hayes, and Sustain the Portal chained to a huge explosion which finished off the game without Lost in the Past appearing. So three heroes, Lost in the Past, and AZ seconded as not necessary, but health seemed to fit. This one unlocked at defeating Ambuscade, so I'm not sure if the source of the damage matters.
Yeah, I got DW Fixer in a game of Fixer, vanilla Legacy and Expat vs Chairman in Rook.
I was trying trying out the Bloody Knuckles incap by Chairman's retalliation damage method. Fixer was the last hero alive, with Monkey Fist and BK in play. Operative was alive, the Enforcer and the underboss who brings out Enforcers were the only other villian targets. I saw the detective and doctor, doubt that matters though. Fairly certain I saw all the underbosses.
Got nothing for Expat.
Yay I'm not the only one who unlocked Ambuscade without AZ. I'm no longer going crazy, thinking I got a bug.
Also MigrantP, are you reading all of these and chuckling at what we think is important vs not and filling out a checklist for each one why we did or didn't unlock it?
One more thing, has anyone unlocked him without either AZ or Unity in the team? Most of the unlocks have one or the other so we should compare and contrast them
I know I am!
a few more things I've tried:
Recreating Savage Mana's card (I had 16 cards underneath Savage Mana) by fighting Matriarch
Reasoning: The padlock on Expatriate is dark brownish color like Haka's color, Fixer's is purple (Chairman's color) and we know that it somehow unlocks on the chairman, thought there maybe was something there. Also, Matriach Joins Dark Watch at some point and its supernatural, Haka just seemed like a good mechanic. However, It was fun seeing the Matriach taking 33 damage to the face with her own birds
Having Expat win a shoot out with the Hayes Brothers
Reasoning: Expat dealt the killing damage too all three (using Assault Rifle) is sort of like winning a wild west shootout
Having Expat kill Citizen Assault and Battery with Pride and Prejudice
Reasoning:Thought there may have been something there.
me too.
did you win or lose?
I had Exp use Unload to fire every single gun at Dawn (also killed her with the last shot of that volley), no luck.
Fixer died to Operative's retribution damage, no luck.
Edit: Oh, and when I got grandpa, I had defeated 0 RC villains, so that shouldn't be a factor.
Lost. Fixer was the last hero alive and Chairman's retaliation damage killed him. Game gave me the unlock and sent me to the defeat screen.
actually this makes me wonder if the condition is as simple as have mr fixer and see all underbosses
No, I had seen all of them when I had the chairman kill fixer after the operative died,
I suspect that, with story from the recent pre-order, that unlocking dw fixer requires the undivided attention card likely incapping him, most likely the opperative specificaly, as he was brought back form the dead after most likely being killed by the situation on the card.
I stalled the Chairman (using two next evolutions and legacy) ring a few times. I set it up so that all of the heroes were 5 or less and then played bloody knuckles to punch the Chairman. The retaliation damage killed fixer and it passed to Tempest's turn with no unlock. Tried with Harmony and no harmony
Not really chuckling, I'm impressed at all of your dedication, and your detective work! Just remember that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
Ok, so chairman finishing Fixer to end the game via undivided attention failed.
So 3 heroes, Silver Gulch, Ambuscade, HP less than 10 seems like the way to go.
Just tried for the 6 underboss but no luck for mr fixer. For this we at least know the following to get mister fixer variant:
must have mr fixer on team
must be against chairman.
- do we know for sure it must be in rook city? Any confirmation of anyone getting it outside rook city?
- do we know that grandpa legacy must be unlocked by using silver gulch?
I (and several others) have done it with 4 heroes. Not sure if there are any confirmations of 5. Thus, my vote is:
Ambuscade, Silver Gulch, all heroes < 10.
I just got Mister Fixer to die in Rook City vs. Chairman. Died to retribution damage with Bloody Knuckles out....no unlock. I had seen all 5 Underbosses, and 2 were on the table.
That and ambuscade seem to be the only consistent thing, other than relatively low health
I don't think the number of heroes matters, just the HP.
Another failed attempt for DW Fixer. He died to Chairman, from retribution damage, in Rook City, and the Operative was downed (last time I tried, she was still up). No Bloody Knuckles this time, so dunno if that's a factor. I'd seen all 5 Underbosses and both Prison Breaks (in fact, he'd just shuffled and begun his deck again).
Well that was quite a hard fight
That took me far into the night
There were wagons galore
plus a mine and some more
But I won! So everything is alright
Nothing like having two Explosive Wagons and a Sonic Mine out at the same time, and realizing that there's nothing you can do to prevent everyone from taking 20 damage.
That's not actually what happened, because a Pipe Wrench and a well placed Liquid Nitrogen Round meant that Fixer only took 11 damage. But Unity and Expat were incapped, and I took enough damage to unlock GL.
People seem to have a lot more luck with Grandpa Legacy on 3-hero teams than 5-hero... maybe it's based on total hitpoints of surviving characters?
Also, anyone want to test and see if it's definitely ambuscade? Like, trying a 3-hero team, Lost In Time, in Silver Gulch that survives all battle-damaged? Because if it DID require Ambuscade to be defeated and lost in time, that raises... interesting questions about Legacy's dad's ancestry on the non-Paul-Revere side.
Lost in time is most definately out
that is not what the trigger's about
The rest might be good
it's not well understood
If you try this, then please give a shout!
I tried with ambuscade, silver gulch, 4p party with unity (2 hp), young legacy (3 hp), visionary (2 hp), mr fixer (1hp). Lost in time was out. Both barrels and Hayes brothers destroyed.
No unlock.
Just got Legacy. Bunker, Ra, and Expat vs Ambuscade in Silver Gulch. The only Environment cards I saw were Sherriff, Matthew, and a wagon (all destroyed). All heroes were under 10 hp (thanks to grenade launcher and Imbued fire). Hope this helps. I tried to finish quick to nail down if there were specific environment cards.
Another failure for DW Fixer. I had out a style, a tool, Harmony, and Bloody Knuckles. Died to Chairman from retribution, no unlock.
Yeah. I got America's Finest Legacy but failed on Chairman DW Fixer. I did the bloody knuckle, suicide attempt on the chairman the operative was up. Someone posted a pic on twitter but I don't think he shared any info.
So far the conditions seem to be

America’s Greatest Legacy
[]Beat Ambuscade in Silver Gulch
[]Legacy cannot be on the team

unknown although low health seems to be a factor.

Dark Watch Mister Fixer
[]Have Mister Fixer incapped by retaliatory damage from the Chairman.
[]Bloody Knuckles must be in play
[]A style must be in play
[]No Tools or Harmony can be in play

Battle may have to be in Rook City

Just did that, I got the unlock
Just did it, no unlock. Probably a "defeat plague rat first" or "defeat spite first" clause as well.
I just got it that way. All other heroes up, mantis and knuckles in play, op and chairman high health.
If there is a required win I would guess Spite, since Dark Watch is connected to his revival.
Just unlocked DW Fixer using your strategy.
I had Greased Monkey Fist and Bloody Knuckles in play, with no tools, then hit the Chairman so that he would retaliate. Legacy, Unity, and the Operative were still up.
Before this game, I had beaten all the RC villains except for the Chairman. Still haven't beaten the Chairman.
Did the same thing after beating plague rat, unlocked Dark Watch Mr Fixer! No idea if it was Plague Rat that switched things or some other subtle difference in the situation (no underbosses in the deck?)
http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/535142803669022216/830BE666CD635A32605072E7349CCBE0EFC48477/ for posterity.
(very shortly thereafter a Prison Break got back the Contract and his beefed-by-H5-Advanced-Chairman Hired Gun, so of course everybody died. But, unlock!)
From the Handelabra forum, it looks like the official AG Legacy unlock is:
Defeat Ambuscade in Sliver Gulch
All heroes at less than 10 HP
Legacy/Young Legacy can't be on the team
MigrantP says that will be posted on the Handelabra site later today.
I still like the idea of him being attraced to all the gunfire…
I guess I got my DW Fixer unlock in just before the patch...
Pretty sure it's supposed to be the Operative and not that Chairman. That could be the bug fix. Makes more sense story wise
Just got my Old Legacy unlock.
Fixer, Ra and GI Bunker in Silver Gulch Vs Ambuscade.
I was using Ra and Grease Monkey Fist the whole fight to make as much damage as possible fire damage.
Heroes were all at less than 10 on the final round and Lost In The Past was in play.
One of the Hayes boys got the killshot (the sniper one).
The method has been discovered by the community and will be posted on the webpage soon.
The Operative herself deals damage that incapacitates Mr. Fixer in Rook City. Bloody Knuckles, any one Style, and no Tool must be in play.
The bug was that sometimes it would work with The Chairman dealing the damage, too.
Now everyone can put their efforts to figuring out Expatriette!
That bug for DW Fixer really helped people figure it out.
My hunch was correct!
For DW Expat, story wise, remember it was the Dark Watch that finally took down the Organization. Possibly having Expat take down the Chairman herself with the last shot or something along those lines would be where I would start.
So, has anyone gotten Expatriette yet, even by accident? I'm more interested in trying to figure that one out than I am in the others.
We have no evidence that Dark Watch Expatriette has been unlocked by anyone yet. The Hall of Fame spot is still available!
Thinking of the planning that would go into intentionally seeking out the DWFixer unlock makes my head hurt. You have to know that Operative is going to damage Fixer (she usually goes after the highest HP hero, right? So you have to be ready for a particular villain card draw) and will destroy him, and you have to wait until that turn to put out Bloody Knuckles (since it's only out for one turn), and you have to either never have used a tool or find a way to get rid of one (Fixer can't purposefully discard tools... I guess the Thief could take it?), AND you have to make sure that the Chairman doesn't kill Fixer first.
I'm not complaining; I know these things are supposed to be challenging! I am starting to think, though, that the "official" method for unlocking DWFixer is to wait until May 14 and put in the code. ;)
Operative does reactionary damage when thugs or Underbosses are out into the trash. So before Fixer's turn make sure to have a thug or underboss he can kill using his Strike, make sure he has the highest health, and lastly make sure that the retaliation damage from the Operative is enough to incap him. It still takes work but it's not that confusing.
I used The Wraith, Tachyon, Unity, and The Visionary to team up with Mister Fixer. The Wraith and The Visionary had the combined efforts of Mega Computer and Mass Levitation to ensure the Environment would not be able to take out Mister Fixer and their deck manipulation to make sure Undivided Attention would be on top. Unity was there to destroy a tool if I ever needed to play one and to protect Mister Fixer from a Falling Statuary. The Tachyon was there to be the highest and redirect the damage to Mister Fixer with Synpatic Interruption.
Well, finally got DW Fixer. I had 3 failed attempts even after knowing what to do AND still being able to benefit from the Chairman bug. Two had inconveniently timed Prison Breaks resulting in Mister Fixer's untimely demise, and another game he did nothing but skip both phases every turn (for something like 12 turns) and never could draw a Bloody Knuckles
DW Fixer-
I can confirm that any damage from the Operative works to unlock DW Fixer - so Undivided Attention or her retalitory attack works. The hardest part is getting all your heroes down enough to have Fixer take the hit!
I wonder if redirecting with Tachyon's shield works?
On to ExPat! My gut tells me it has to do with Spite, but I'm swayed by the Chairman argument. Maybe killing both the operative and the chairman on the same turn with an unload?
Redirecting with Tachyon should work, that was how I tested it initially.
Weird that G-Legs requires all heroes under 10, I know AZ was over 10 when I unlocked it, wish I had taken a screen shot.
Have you… played against the Chairman?
Just bring Legacy and Expat, you can play all day and you will likely have to beat your own heroes down to set up the incap.
My team was Expat, SST, Legacy, Visionary, Fixer. It was a cake walk, and I ran it 4 times to check different variables.
Hahahahaha! Okay. I stand corrected. Second hardest. Once Legacy became invulerable against melee with Next Evolution/Lead from the Front, I had to wait for Fixer to draw Bloody Knuckles. With the set up in place, I found getting that damage to Fixer was tougher than I thought. I had to shoot Legacy with some incendiary rounds to get him long enough to have Fixer be targetted.
I recommend SSTachyon/Legacy for the run. SSTachyon helps to dump the Chairman's cards into the trash sooner or to get Legacy's invulnerable combo of Next Evolution/Next Evolution/Lead From the Front.
Having Expat kill the chairmain before the operative didn't work to get DW ExPat (at least not with an Assault Rifle!).
Because there's multiple streams of info on this, (FB, Twitter, Handelabra Forum, here), restatement of info from elsewhere:
DW Expat has been found(twice), Rook City, Baron Blade, Expat has multiple guns(five and three), and at least in my unlock, unload was used as the final kill(with all three guns being used)
First Unlock, congrats to Brandon Duncan!
Now to refine just precicely how this triggers(pun completely intended)
EDIT: oop, not the first to bring that info here! =]
DW Expatriette has been unlocked. She took out Baron Blade in Rook city, unloading with Pride, Prejudice, and Shotgun In play. It was proposed that Baron Blade came to Rook City looking for Setback and she decided to stop him. :)
Well, keep in mind, Dark Watch is formed primarily as a response to Mr Fixer's disappearance. It's entirely possible that you might have to unlock DW Mr Fixer and THEN do (whatever) in order to get DW Expatriette.
Just unlocked grandpa with Expat, SST, and Fixer with a big 12 damage hit from Tachyon. Lost in time was in the trash. Destroyed exposives wagon. Fixer was at 7, expat at 9 and tachyon at 3.
This could be just a guess but, maybe to unlock grandpa you have to defeat Ambuscade in Silver gulch by dealing more damage than the one dealing damage has HP? Could explain why some people get him with some heroes in their teens, but most get it with super low HP.
Unlock condition for Grandpa Legacy is already listed here:
http://sentinelsdigital.com/variants.html
Defeat Ambuscade in Silver Gulch with no hero character cards over 9 HP and Legacy not on your team.
I just played through this exact setup and got DW Fixer first try! Thanks!
Of course, I lost terribly, but them's the breaks. It's what I get for winning my first Chairman/Rook City pairing ever last night!
I just unlocked DW Expatriette.
I had Expat, Legacy, and Visionary against Baron Blade in Rook City. I finished the Baron off with a 5-gun Unload, with Shock Rounds and Hollow Points on Pride and Shock Rounds and Incendiary Rounds on Prejudice. Oh, and Galvanize, Inspiring Presence, and two Twist the Ethers on Expat
As a side note, the Baron hadn't flipped before Expat's last activation. That was a lot of damage in a single activation.
I tried the rook city blade match, used Unload to win with a second gun, had all 5 in play, so maybe use at least 3 guns?
Just unlocked DW ExPat:
Legacy, Haka, ExPat, Ra, Unity
Rook City
Used Unity's Upgrade card to let Expat use her power to play Unload to defeat Baron Blade. Fired "Pride", Assault Rifle and Tactical Shotgun (no ammo). So 3 guns for 3+3+5 damage (Legacy's Galvanize boost was in effect).
Mr. Fixer and the deck manipulation ladies is a very efficient way to unlock Dark Watcher Fixer, but man is it depressing. I think I unlocked him on turn 3 and was completely defeated on the start of turn 4. It was just a brutal beatdown, with Gunmen shooting everyone for 5+ damage thanks to the Contract and multiple Twisted Streets.
"Mr. Fixer and the Deck Manipulation Ladies" is the name of my NOFX cover band.
Just did that with Fanatic, Ra and Ex-P. No unlock. Fanatic at 9. Ra at 3. Ex-P at 7.
Is this a good time to bring up the fact that all hero decks that specialize in manipulation are female?
…
I'll show myself out
That is straight from the Handelabra site. So if it didn't work you missed something.
I hate to ask, but
Was it advanced?\
Did you do anything before like beat another villain? a la Cosmic Omnitron?
Unlocked DW Expat: Baron Blade in Rook City, Expat killed him with an Unload using pride, prejudice, and a tac shotgun (also had an assault rifle, didn't need to use it).
And I'm done unlocking things again! COMPLETIONISM TEMPORARILY SATISFIED.
So, are we certain that Expat needs to use Unload? Or will having Expatriette shoot Blade down in Rook City in any fashion do?
For the sake of those playing at home, could folks who've unlocked Expat please mention which, if any, other Rook City villains they'd defeated, or whether or not they had already unlocked WD Fixer? We're not clear on whether or not that's a requirement for unlocking Expat.
I just Got DW Expatriette too. I killed Baron using an unload and used a tactical shotgun, assult rifle, predjudice, and pride (which lead into another predjudice shot).
Argent Adept does some deck manipulation, doesn't he? Or what about Guise? … No, I see what you mean. It makes sense for me though.
Men tend to have this have this pride thing going on, where they want to be the one to hit hard and do the damage. They need to see themselves hitting something and feel they are contributing. Women apparently don't have that hangup. ![]()
I think I can say that's the case
My attempt just blew up in my face
I used an unload
purely meant as a goad
but I failed in such total disgrace
To make a long story short, I unloaded against Baron Blade when he was at 2 health. Killed him with a shotgun to the face, and didn't unlock the promo. So either you need to use some mimimum number of powers in the turn you kill him, or you need to use a specfic gun or guns (probably pride and prejudice) which I didn't use. But killing him isn't enough, and neither is simply playing Unload.
But I also haven't unlocked DW Fixer. So that could be it too.
I've beaten all Rook City villains and unlocked DW Fixer.
I wouldn't say that to Fanatic's face when she's sitting in single-digit hp. Or Tachyon with her light-speed barrages. Or Wraith with a utility belt double-packing microtargeted throwing knives and razor ordinance. Heck, while we're at it, Argent Adept, Legacy, and Captain Cosmic are all superb "support" heroes who are more about making the rest of the team look awesome than they are grabbing personal glory.
I just played Finest Legacy, Haka, Expat, Ra, and Unity vs. Blade in Rook City. I beat Blade by Unloading on him. I had a Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Pride & Prejudice out, but it only took the AR and Prejudice to do it. And no Expat unlock.
I wonder if it has to do with damage done to Blade when he goes down? It seems that some people did it with three guns, others with five. I had 4 guns but only managed to shoot 2 before the game ended without unlock.
I had also defeated all Rook City villains and unlocked DW Fixer before unlocking DW Expatriette.
There's not a whole lot there.
I had beaten all RC villains and unlocked DW Fixer, and failed. I used unload, had 5 guns out, but the second gun finished him.
I think using three guns is key.
I just got DW Expatriette. I killed him using Prejudice, Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Pride, and then Prejudice again. I highly recommend pairing with Visionary for this one. The card draw helps you get the guns, and Twist the Ether lets you manipulate the damage so that you don't kill him too fast.
Note: The only RC villain I've defeated so far is Chairman and I HAVE gotten DW Fixer. Thus, Chairman and/or DW Fixer might be pre-reqs, but no other RC villains should be.
Try clicking on that link again. You might get a better sense of context for Greywind's response. ![]()
I just got DW Expat, I hadn't unlocked DW Fixer or OldLegs(Love that handle for him, btw). Expat and Fixer had been incapped in a previous game, but that earlier game was still won.
Team was Expat, Fixer, Visionary, Fanatic, and Wraith.
I unloaded with an SMG with Hollow Points, Prejudice, Pride, Then Prejudice again, and a Tac Shotgun, and he went down before I got to use my Assault Rifle. (that would have been a bad idea anyway with incendiary rounds and his elemental redistributor in play). My screenshot is among the most recent in the Screenshots portion of the Steam Forums, but I don't feel like trying to figure out how to import that here. If previous villain defeats matter, I've defeated them all except Spite,
But, from what others have been posting, it looks like to me that win conditions are:
Expat against Blade in Rook City,
Unload with at least 3 weapons
At least 3 weapons have to hit Blade before he goes down
Pride and Prejudice must be included.
(Possible) - Previous Fixer Incap
I already corrected the link on my original post hours ago. Can't help it if he's still using one that's messed up in a quote.
Edit: I will add one thought. Make sure you are playing the most current release if you are on anything but iOS. Handelabra released the game without the variants to all other platforms until Apple approved the iOS version. Once the iOS version was approved they sent an update out to the other platforms that allowed the new variants to be unlockable.
The Expatriette method seems to work; I did it and unlocked it by finishing Blade with Unload. Not sure if you actually have to finish him with it or not though.
Just got Expat; I finished Baron Blade in Rook City with Finest Legs, Haka, Expat, Tempest, and Visionary.
I had Pride, Predjudice, AR, SMG, and Tactical Shotgun out, with Inspiring Presence but no Galvanize. Blade was at 17hp. I unloaded in this order: Predjudice, Pride, Predjudice, AR, and Shotgun, which took him to 0 and unlocked the variant.
I've defeated all Rook City villains except Matriarch, and I've unlocked both Old Legs and DW Fixer.
There have been a few winning games
Though I refuse to name any names
That lacked any Pride
in the guns on our side
Shooting down a condition in flames
Unlocked DW Expatriette, same as my failed attempt but used 4 guns in taking him out, so I think at least 3 guns is required.
it was not advanced.
I had beaten Matriarch and the Chairman before.
i think you need to unlock dW fixer before.
To expand on this: Consider any claim without confirming screenshots to be potentially faulty, until/unless confirmed by others. Few (probably none) of us have perfect memories. One (inadvertently) false data point can waste a lot of time…
I don't think so. I've just gotten my DW Expatriette unlock, and I still haven't unlocked DW Mr Fixer. Not sure if Expat or Fixer needs to have been incapped in previous games though.
I do all my playing on the Kindle Fire. Is there a way to upload screenshots from the Kindle app?
you press and hold the power and volume down button at the same time on mine, I just keep forgetting to do it.
We are not aware of any bugs related to the unlock conditions for America's Greatest Legacy or Dark Watch Expatriette. The Dark Watch Mr. Fixer bug is fixed on Steam/Android now and will be on iOS in the next update.
If you think you've found a bug, you can send screenshots and details to feedback@handelabra.com.
I screenshot the end screen of every game. It provides me with a record of my games so I can transcribe them into a spreadsheet later, for reference until we get in-game stats.
So far I have mostly failed to do this, but it pleases me that I can do it if I want to.
Finally managed to get my DW Fixer but man that was tough to engineer! Talk about having to think on your feet!
Good fun!!
It's sad, when I was trying to actually unlock DW fixer, I had a really good run going and probably would have won if I wasnt trying to get a hero killed...
Now this really is quite a mess
I'm frustrated now, I confess
I did very well
hitting Fixer's death knell
but I did not quite reach a success
I forgot that Fixer needed to not have a tool in play, so even after engineering everything so perfectly that after Fixer died, I actually managed to win the battle, I still don't have DW Fixer.
I was using Fixer, Tachyon, Visionary, and Haka. Haka went on a rampage through the underbosses. Tachyon had double synaptic interuption - the first one sent the Operative's hit at Fixer, and the second sent her hit at the Chairman, who returned the favor by killing her. After that, it was a simple matter to destroy the Chairman with a lightspeed barrage.
Unity can help destroy the tool.
I feel so stupid for not thinking of that… I was just legacy stalling until a theif got played to get rid of my crowbars
I just never put a tool in Fixer's hands the whole time. The trick for me was making sure Tachy was highest, and lining up a turn in which I could get Synaptic Interruption and Bloody Knuckles out in the same turn that someone could kill an enemy target and trigger Operative's counterattack. In my case, though, I got them both out, then another hero played a card, triggering the Informant, who brought out Focused Attention, attacking Tachy who sent the damage to Fixer, killing him and winning me the unlock.
I lost that game SO HARD, but it was a fun puzzle to figure out, and DW Fixer's art is so awesome that it's totally worth it even if I never get around to playing with the variant.
Devs are saying that the conditions for DW Expatriette are not fully fleshed out yet. I'm pretty sure we've confirmed that the unload with 3 guns, pride and prejudice included, and getting the kill are completely confirmed, but I'm not sure if we've unequivocally ruled out other environments or villains, or whether previous incaps of expat or fixer are required beforehand.
So Tachyon ran and she ran
DW Fixer was released from his can
and I won the game too
without the need to undo
and the last blow belonged to the Chairman
Visionary, Unity, Fixer, Tachyon, Haka.
Visionary sacrificed herself to brain burn the trash. Then I let Fixer get killed to unlock him (and it worked this time!). Then Unity was incapped, and I was left with Haka and Tachyon against the Chairman and the Operative. Fortunately, both of them are good at nuking. Haka took out the Operative with a Haka of Battle for +24, and then Tachyon used Lightspeed Barrage for 18 to put the Chairman at 1. At which point, the Chairman tried to punch Tachyon, but Synaptic Interpution redirected it right back at him. So the final blow was landed by the Chairman, punching himself in the face.
Got all 3 unlocked now.
Pride and Predjudice are not confirmed as quite a few people (including myself) have gotten the unlock without one or the other.
I just unlocked Dark Watch Expat. Vanilla Blade in Rook City with an Unload. I used Prejudice twice, Pride once, and Tactical Shotgun in that turn, but I have a strong feeling using the combo of 3 Pride/Prejudice attacks in the same turn to finish Blade is the answer. If anyone is curious, I was using Legacy, Expat, Mr. Fixer, and Visionary.
I had Pride, but not Prejudice. Some people have had Prejudice without Pride. It's still possible that one of them is required, but both of them are definately not necessary.
Failed to get Expat. She got the kill with an Unload, but I only used Prejudice since Pride had Liquid Nitrogen Rounds and Blade was protected from it by Elemental Redistributer.
I also had to hit Tachyon with one of the Hollow Points Assault Rifle shots to redirect it to Blade with Synaptic Interruption.
And I used Load to play Unload. Pretty sure I fired off the Assault Rifle, Prejudice, and Tactical Shotgun. Not enough guns, maybe?
As to DW Expat, I just did a full Unload with all guns into Blade for a victory in Megalopolis without unlocking her.
She took him from approximately 15 to 0.
Rooftop Combat was out for part of the Unload.
Twist The Ether was in play, but I kept all the damage at Projectile.
The only ammo used were Hollow Points in Pride.
The team was Expat, Visionary, Wraith, and Tempest.
Hairtrigger was also in play.
The Assault Rifle also downed a turret.
As to beating other RC Villains, I'd taken down the Chairman twice, and the game right before Blade I'd unlocked DW Fixer by Operative Incap, so prior Fixer incap is out.
I haven't touched Spite, Matty, or Plague Rat.
Okay, got Expat now. Finished with Unload, firing Prejudice, Tactical Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Pride, and Prejudice again. No redirect shenanigans.
I think that using the Prejudice-Pride-Prejudice exploit is the key here.
There's something else to it. I've done multiple Unload victories with a series of guns, most recently Prejudice-Pride-Prejudice-SMG-Shotgun to finish him off. Still no unlock.
That can't be it, because I got it without Prejudice in play.
Are you fighting in Rook City?
Maybe it is the amount of hp.
Also you don't need to use pride and prejudice, it is either 3+ guns or hp lost that turn.
My first attempt was 3 guns, but no unlock.
Uh, no. No I was not. Because it seems I need to learn to read. I thought the unlock happened in Megalopolis. So, turns out that I was able to pull it off in Rook City. Thanks for pointing that out to me!
I wonder if I can unlock Grandpa Legacy without having Rook City.
Might as well try.
Definitely. I mean as far as I can tell it doesn't require anything from Rook City, and I can see the second variant for Legacy when I click on him, so yeah.
I know somebody who just has the base set and he has grandpa legacy there, even if he can't unlock it
You mean the locked symbol on Legacy? Yeah, I have that too and don't have Rook City.
Have to try to see if I can unlock it.
What are people doing with Ammo? Could it be something to do with multiple different types of damage to kill Blade?
I didn't use ammo in one unlock and hollow points on pride in the second.
No Ammo for my unlock. Killed Blade with a 3 gun unload in Rook City. Pride, Assault Rifle and Shotgun (so 8 damage). Had Mr Fixer in the team this time, if that makes a difference.
First time I beat baron blade with expatriette, legacy, tachyon, visionary, wraith in rook city. I had all 5 guns out, did unload and killed him. No unlock.
then I went back and killed the rook city villains I had not beaten yet: matriarch, plague rat, spite ( in that order if it matters).
Then I attempted to kill baron blade with the same team as above. I only had 4 guns ( no prejudice), unloaded, shot only three of them for the kill. Unlocked DW Expatriette
Between here, the Handelabra forum, and the Steam forum, the conditions have been discovered:
Defeat Baron Blade in Rook City with Expatriette using the card “Unload” to fire guns at least 3 times at Baron Blade to destroy him.
Did you use all three guns on the final blow? I tried it with three out, but only two used on the last turn, and there was no unlock, but when I used all three powers with unload, and dealt the final damage with the third gun, it unlocked.
I think all three shots have to not only hit, but also deal the finishing blow.
To make things easier, I would suggest that you have Visionary help out Expat for this particular unlock. Her 'Twist the Eather' on Expat not only changes the damage type of each shot, but can also lower or raise the damage, letting you boost(or shrink) the damage to what you need.
Did not work under those conditions.
Maybe there is a hero combination in particular. I've beaten Ambuscade multiple times, he's a particularly easy hero to unlock things.
Are you fighting Baron Blade? You must be fighting Baron Blade in Rook City, and deal the finishing blow having unloaded and used the powers of 3+ guns in a turn to unlock DW Expat. As far as I know, those are the only restrictions.
EDIT: Unless you are talking about Grampa Legacy, in which case it needs to be Ambuscade in Silver Gultch, and all heros need to be below 10 hp, and Legacy can't be part of the team. There shouldn't be any other requirements.
I'm just about ready to cuss. Still can't manipulate it to the proper game state to unlock DW Fixer. I know how, I just can't seem to make it happen. Any tips? I've given up on Wraith or SST being on the team.
-Brian
Save up your Bloodied Knuckles. Visionary can help you get them quickly.
Use normal Tachyon because SST is unpredictable.
Haka helps as he can nom all the people you don't want coming back out. Just make sure to leave someone like the Broker around for the Operative to pull out for retaliation damage.
Wraith is still good because she can help avoid Prison Breaks and also kill small guys. Concentrate more on getting Infrared Eyepiece than Razor Ordinance. Remember that using Infrared Eyepiece also gets you more cards, which will lead to being able to play Razor Ordinance later.
It is better to depend on retaliation damage than on Undevided Attention.
If you put Wrest the Mind on the Operative you can increase how much damage she deals to Mr. Fixer while reducing her retaliation damage.
Never play a tool for Mr. Fixer. This will avoid the issue of having one in play when you don't want it anymore.
If you want the scenarios to go faster, play on Advanced. It flips The Chairman and increases how much damage everyone takes, getting to that key low health point very quickly. However, it can get out of control and wipe you before you can get Bloody Knuckles in play.
The Operative deals H-2 retaliation damage. That means you'll want more heroes, not less, on your team to help get the Fixer kill. With Bloody Knuckles, the Nemesis Symbol, 5 heroes, and Wrest the Mind, she can do 6 damage to Mr. Fixer in one hit, so you want to get him to that or less before trying to kill him. 5 or less if you don't have Wrest the Mind.
Make sure you're fighting in Rook City. And don't destroy Blighted Streets. It will increase the Operative's counterstrike damage.
It may help to have Legacy on the team if you can get Lead from the Front and Next Evolution. That can help you get the time you need to get the cards you need. And it'll help Haka use Savage Mana on the pesky thugs.
Aha, I was playing tools, but not styles. Now I know!
Can't put WTM on character cards, unfortunately. The rest I'm pretty much doing, except for haka. Will try using him in my next mix. Thanks!
-Brian
Tachyon's Synaptic Interuption is a great way to get the Operative's damage at Fixer when he's at low health without driving everyone else down too. If you want to play tools as well, just add Unity to your group, (probably at the beginning of the turn order)
From what he said, I'm guessing that Donner meant Twist the Ether, not Wrest the Mind.
Yeah, re-reading that it makes more sense as TtE. Also, I saw somewhere else that Fixer must have a tool, but no style in play. Donner mentioned no tools, so now I'm not sure what the best path is.
-Brian
You cannot have any tools, but you need a style and Bloody Knuckles.
Most of this was said earlier, but:
5 heroes, put Fixer First, then Tachyon, then 3 reliable damage dealers. You want a target ready to destroy, a style in play, and knuckles and synaptic in hand. Then you knuckles, punch yourself (if you are higher health) play synaptic, then the next two have to make sure Tachyon is highest and Fixer is low enough to incap from 6 damage, then destroy a target, retaliation goes to tachyon, redirect to Fixer, unlock.
Got him, but only due to the Chairman bug. No real tactics other than 'don't play tools'. Glad to finally unlock that one. I'm pretty sick of seeing both the Chairman and the Rook City decks. Maybe I'll go play a nice relaxing match against Spite.
Now that I have DW Fixer, though, I'm realizing that his base power sucks so bad! I think I'd use vanilla Expat's ability before Bitter Strike.
-Brian
Bitter Strike is actually pretty crazy with any hero who accelerates card play or when you treat Fixer's own cards like one shots (especially cool when you get Salvage Yard). It's also completely crazy with some heroes who aren't yet on the App - Sky Scraper, for example, typically has a ton of link cards that are left without targets or have used up their charge and she has a bunch ways to get them from her trash. Also, with the Dual Crowbars clarification Bitter Strike becomes even more powerful with Bloody Knuckles - with just those two cards and no buffs, Fixer does 6 damage to 1 targeta nd 9 to a second and then doesn't have to deal with the downside of Bloody Knuckles
I really thought that I'd like DW Fixer more than regular because of the times I lamented regular Fixer's low raw damage output. I've since found that I tend to prefer being able to keep things in play for more than one turn, so preference of character version becomes very situationally dependent on the villain and teammates.
DW Fixer pales now because of the crowbar change, it was better when strike couldn't do the damage it can now.
Oops! Definitely meant Twist the Ether. :D
Edit: Thematically, having no weapon is probably what leads Mr. Fixer to having bloodied knuckles in the first place. Also, DW Fixer does well with other heroes who had no options but to play an ongoing they didn't want. Or Sky Scraper. :D
