For La Comandora, can anyone explain to me the use for the SoT effect on the card Shipshape? I must be missing something because I’m not sure how that would ever be helpful or have any point. Any ongoings you put back into play would then require an additional discard for no other gain. Or you get rid of Shipshape mid effect and it clogs your deck. The first effect is great, but is there an obvious internal deck synergy I’m missing?

On Medico, I’m curious about how the interactions work between his base Clinical Consult power and the card Second Opinion. Let’s say one other target has the Consult buff while Second Opinion is in play and Medico heals that target for 1 HP. Consult increases this to 3 HP which triggers Second Opinions option. Let’s now say that the other hero chooses to use the power and not regain the health. Does that target continue to have the Consult buff since no HP was regained? Does the Consult buff get swallowed to trigger Second Opinion? Would Second Opinion trigger at all due to me misplaying Consult be a possibility?

Thanks for your help guys.

Maybe this answers your first question: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2036842/la-comodora-shipshap

Second Opinion would trigger. (W)Rest your mind on the possibility of you getting that wrong first.

While testing I played it as if the buff went away, much like how DW Setback's base power damage reduction would go away if Mr Fixer was hit for 4 damage but redirected it away with Driving Mantis because the damage was reduced to 2 (by DW Setback)- it had been used, even if not for it's original purpose (and the video game backs this up).

The only real answer to shipshape is that it lets you discard an additional card just to recall figurehead to your play area? And maybe it lets you reorder your SoT effects but it still costs you an additional discard for the hassle and Little upside? There’s gotta be more, because none of those sentences make any sense to me.

If only there was some way you could have had some input into the creation of this card!  :stuck_out_tongue:

Hahaha so true! Most of my contributions were early-mid development and even then Comandora wasn’t a deck I played much.

It’s just so odd to me that there is a LOT of text on that card that seems so meaningless and inconsequential. We always battle in play testing about text length and what will/won’t fit. There has got to be a particular and specific use for that wall of text or it wouldn’t be there, and honestly I just want to know what it is I’m missing. The other possibility listed in this thread cannot be the purpose for that text wall. It would have never made it out of PT. When I have time later I’ll go back through the PT forum if it’s still accessible.

I wasn’t part of the discussion but I know it was an item requested in playtesting to allow reordering of her cards.  This is what came out of it.  If I find the thread I’ll PM you.

Thanks PHound. Any opinion on the Medico Second Opinion question as well? The whole interaction I’m so unsure of how to play it correctly.

I’ve played that the affect was used up and I’m pretty sure in video game testing that has been the case too.

Even though Medicos base power doesn’t use the “would be” wording?

Yes, because you wouldn’t have regained a total of 3 HP to trigger Second Opinion without it.  I can see your point and I can bring it up but I’ve certainly have played with it being expended by choosing to use a power

I was the one pushing for the Shipshape effect in playtesting.

The primary benefit I see is it let’s you set-up La Comodora using Weigh Anchor and Harnessed Anomaly without worrying that you won’t have a way to get your end of turn effects in the order you want.

In practice I tend to use the effect in 3 primary ways:

  1. To recall Paradoja Figurehead to my play area so I can get the damage boost and also give it to another.
  2. To swap the order of Timeless Treasure and Chronological Sweetspot so that you can use your base power on another hero and give them a draw before your end of turn phase.
  3. To move Brig Teleporter after Cannon Portal so you can get a target down to 6 or less HP before you hit it with Brig Teleporter.

for the record, this is the way I table ruled it in game when the question arose. It felt like the correct way to do it, but I wanted to be sure I wasn’t intentionally gimping medicos strength.

im looking forward to playing her again with this in mind. I personally haven’t seen her with a full setup rolling, but these small combos are helpful tips. I knew there had to be something I was missing.

Yeah, since the option of using a power is calculated based on the total amount healed, I agree it would be used up.  Something like Proverbs and Axioms wouldn't, though.
