Haven't had a chance to watch all of this, but previews of the Void Guard cards! (Livestreamed earlier today and already up on YouTube). Can't wait to play with this group (or any of the new heroes really).

They do look like a lot of fun.  Mainstay looks like straight up crunchy goodness, but vastly more powerful if someone can slap some damage mitigation on him.  Doctor Medico's vanilla version is indeed primarily a healer, though he doesn't heal himself all that well, so damage mitigation is extra-nice on him as well.  Malpractice Medico looks as nuts as advertised; him plus Argent Adept looks like an amazing duo.  Idealist looks fun but vulnerable to ongoing destruction; not sure how her dark id thing is going to work out in practice, it looks very swingy depending on how quickly you can get rid of it; her Super Sentai variant looks the more tempting of the two in large part because of that.  I don't understand how Cosmic Inventor Writhe works at all; Christopher said he works just fine, but to me he looks like a variant of the Naturalist that has only one form, has no way of pulling it out of his deck, and benefits from destroying it.

On looking through writhe's cards, it looks like there are 4 one shots (2 cards, 2 copies of each) that can pull his projector directly from his deck, 3 cards (1 card, 3 copies of it) that can pull equipment from his trash, and an equipment that lets you mill the top 3 cards of your deck as a power. He also has lots of other card draw, and most of the things that destroy your shadow cloak give you a choice. Either you destroy it and do more, or you don't destroy and do a little less damage, but you're still doing things. I'm trying to puzzle through these decks myself, and see if I can figure out the best way to nuke with each of them. Not sure if I'll manage it without cards in front of me though.

I don't know to what degree I should talk, but I love Cosmic Inventor Writhe much more than regular. His ability to mitigate damage on anybody is astounding and his card draw more than makes up for his inability to directly pull the shadow cloak.

Writhe is so cool you guys.

Specific card question: according to the transcript, Headlock says, "Damage dealt by that target is irreducible and redirected to Mainstay. If it cannot be redirected, destroy this card."  If the target would damage Mainstay directly, is Headlock destroyed?  Damage targeting Mainstay cannot be redirected to Mainstay, after all (unless it's redirected to a different target instead).

Headlock doesn’t have any clause on it that would have it destroy itself. Only a clause for what happens when it is destroyed.

That came from here: https://pastebin.com/5CcUDRrU.  But you're right, I remember Christopher saying it didn't have a destroy clause.  Trying to read the card in the video (at about 46:40), the words don't seem to match the transcript.  I think Nyx got it wrong.

Also I noticed that Idealist's Bright Idea finally gives the heroes a way to get rid of Shinobi Assassin deliberately.

Mindwanderer, you're right! I didn't realize bright idea could do that. And because of it, there's a potential 6 damage I missed in my calculation of how much of a nuke Idealist can do.

So this was cool. Doctor Medico looks like a ton of fun, especially On the Brink. I was a little confused by it, though: from what I gather, it's a compulsory trigger? What happens if, say, Fanatic's got the Aegis out and would go to 0? Does On the Brink trigger first, preventing the damage, or does the Aegis restore her up to 10?

Probably a matter of what came in to play first.

Or like some things in the app, you chose which one to resolve first nameless one. But yes so cool and exciting. Very excited to see what the redacted art is maybe it's actually *redacted* :O

"Nameless One"? What am I, an elder god now? Do I get royalties from the Cult of Gloom?

I was being lazy. Talk to the cult about the royalties. And from your skill with writing, I wouldn't be surprised if you had a pact or 2 going for you with old gloomy.

So psyched to have these physically in hand. One question for the group: Strained Superego is confusing. It says "At the end of your turn, either move a card from under a concept in play to under another concept in play or destroy 1 concept in play with no cards under it. Then, you may draw a card or use a power.". So what if you have only one concept and it does have cards under it? Does neither clause trigger? Then, can you still draw a card or use a power?

I was wondering that myself.  Surprised no one watching it live asked that.  As written, yeah, you'd do neither.  Otherwise it would be "destroy the concept in play with the fewest cards under it."

Benchmark (previewed today) and Mainstay have a really fun counter to "Leo's Trap."  Give Benchmark the card that lets him preemptively destroy any enemy with 2 HP or less that attacks him and the card that lets you redirect any enemy damage from the hero with the lowest HP to him.  Then make sure Mainstay has the lowest HP and have him use the card that makes every enemy attack him. Boom.

I'm in the middle of watching this on youtube, and I'm at the part where the stream hiccup happened. Does the visual and audio ever re-synch? The visual is now up to Writhe, but the audio is still talking on random/Idealist questions...

Okay, thanks.

I moved onto the Twitch video, which does not have the synching problem, so I can watch without my OCD/brain going crazy. Here's the link incase that bothers anyone else:

Agreed! When I told my spouse about the preview she was shocked. "Other people haven't seen the awesomeness of Idealist, yet?!"

As usual, you do as much as you can.  Since you can't move a card or destroy a concept, that sentence doesn't do anything. But then you do get to draw or use a power.

I'm really eager to take a look at all these cards myself. Here's my first impressions:

Medico looks really cool, and it's nice to have a designated healer deck. His own health is gonna yo-yo I'm sure, even more-so than all the other VG. Malpractice is gonna make him a freaking monster...

Mainstay seems cool, lots of DR and such, but he's the one I remember the least about. Yeah, any kind of damage increase on him is gonna make him a melee BEAST. I don't remember what his promo does, unfortunatly.

Idealist looks fun, though that one bad ongoing she has is gonna make things bothersome. Gonna have to find ways to tip-toe around that when I don't want the damage boost. Sentai Idealist is gonna be crazy if she gets a good number of cards under her.

Writhe looks like he's gonna be the most interesting out of the four VG to me, but he's gonna have a bad time againt anyone who can take away his cloak. Still, he's the one I'm most eager to test out. I'm interested to see how this promo balances things out, especially since it looks like alot of his better effects require the destruction of the Shadow Cloak but his cosmic inventor variant will lose the power to grab it...
