I hope this is the right place to post a story about a game I just played.

Citizen Dawn against Expat, Setback, Parse and Ra (all base). I was Parse. Everyone's set up and ready to go when Devastating Aurora shows up. No biggie, I say to the group. Parse has a Buffer Overflow in play, so I can say "see ya!" to the Aurora! Aurora gets discarded, Buffer blows up, Parse draws, and the next card is played.

It's the other Devastating Aurora.

Personally, I blame Setback. I don't know what he did, but I'm sure he's responsible in some way.

I fought a Citizen Dawn game recently where I did a little deck manipulation and got the same thing.

I guess you at least got rid of both of them, then? :B That's a good thing...

Yeah, Parse is mostly OP but she still has her limits. It's particularly annoying when Extrasensory Awareness turns up all three cards that are all terrible, because unlike most deck control it doesn't dump one of the cards to the bottom. The best you can do is shuffle and pray the other two don't show up after all.

In non-Dawn shenangians, I'm reminded of a recent F5 variants vs Ultimate Voss game where he played Forced Deployment three turns in a row... while Sub-Zero Atmosphere was out (meaning it would always get destroyed right after it was played). I managed to always survive the onslaught and throw everyone back into the trash again (and did win in the end), but, ouch.

That's a damned painful scenario; I had something similar happen with La Capitan–got beaten up at the Start of Turn from the crew that was already out, she pulled out A Motley Crew, followed by Plunder, which destroyed the SubZero Atmosophere.  At End of Turn, the crew got another round of attacks off, and I was pretty well finished…

Yeah, against Dawn and other villains (like Omitron) that have one card that's just way more awful than anything else they have, I work really hard to get out two "counterspells" (as we call them).  The double play happens way more often that chance would seem to suggest.

Wait, why would that happen?  Forced Deployment goes off at the start of the turn.  Sub-Zero Atmosphere doesn't do anything to cards that go off at the start, only ones that go off at the end.  That should only happen if there's an environment that plays villain cards (like Slamara).

Advanced/Ultimate Voss plays an extra card at the end of his turn and with Sub Zero Atmosphere out that card play occurs at the Start of the Turn which means Forced Deployment is instantly destroyed.

Yeah, Powerhound got it in one.

I still stand by SZA being a good play about 90% of the time, but occasionally it does weird and annoying things.
