[Edit]: Totally was a thread for this already, it just hasn't had a new post for awhile. Still, going to leave this thread up, since it at the very least is a nice compilled list of them all, something the other thread doesn't seem to have. The other thread has better overall speculation and you can find the link for it here: https://greaterthangames.com/forum/topic/the-potential-scions-of-oblivaeon-8608

As a preface, I first want to say that if this is a repeat of another topic, or if this question has been answered before, I apologize and will move my conversation or delete it if it's redundant. But if not, I feel this topic must be discussed!

So with the most recent kickstarter update, I believe we now know all but ONE of the scions from Oblivaeon. While we have not seen all their cards yet, nor gotten complete oficial confirmations on all of these (I think), I believe this is the comprehensive list we have thus far. If you know the official confirmation for any of these, please post it, and I will try to update this list accordingly.

1. Progeny (Kickstarter Update 6)

2. Aeon Master (Kickstarter Update 37)

3. Dark Mind (Kickstarter Update 37)

4. Sanction (Kickstarter Update 37)

5. Borr (Kickstarter Update 39)

6. Empyreon (Kickstarter Update 39)

7. Nixious (Kickstarter Update 39)

8. Faultless (Mentioned in several episodes of the letters page podcast, including Expatriette, Setback, and Mr. Fixer)

9. Voidsoul (Art done on Twitch Stream, also mentioned in the F.I.L.T.E.R. episode of the letters page podcast)

10. ???

So by my count, if we consider Voidspawn a confirmed Scion (please correct me if I'm wrong on that one), we only have 1 scion still unaccounted for. So my question is, who is this mystery Scion? Christopher has said the scions will be about half old characters and half new ones, so he/she could by either one (depending on how you count Voidspawn, since as far as I know he's never been named in the card game).

So who do we think this last Scion is? Let's try to figure this out!

That would be this thread:

https://greaterthangames.com/forum/topic/the-potential-scions-of-oblivaeon-8608

Galactra and Voss seemed to be leading in popularity.  We know it's not Chokepoint and it seems pretty clear it's not Miss Information.  Kaargra, Rahazar, and Ruin are still potentially on the table.

It's a good thing KNYFE didn't run into an army of Unitys on Mars.  She'd be toast in a second.

Anyway, we've also seen a trend of Scions being characters we've seen on previous cards but never named.  It's probably not the dorky spaceman on Blackout, though I'd like it to be.  I thought it could be the green guy on Lightspeed Barrage and Demoralizing Presence, but then I realized that there probably aren't any Scions represented on Tactics cards (there haven't been so far).  That would leave out Voss as well.

The wiki has a really neat page that attempts to list all the art references.  It would be pretty neat if we could get first edition artwork references in there, too, if there are any unique ones.

That green guy actually does bear a passing resemblance to a character that appears in other artwork (e.g. Lightspeed Barrage).  The shirt is a different design, the eyes glow a different color, and the face is different, but they're both green brutes in tanktops with glowing eyes. Might be very early art of the same character–Adam's designs have changed over time.

Just to get it down in writing, Voidsoul was very clearly named as a Scion in the F.I.L.T.E.R. episode of the Letters Page podcast yesterday.  Apparently it was talking to Felix Stone, though, so I'm no longer sure it's the same entity that's bound to Writhe's cloak (unless that's just a "piece" of it).

Questions: Who is the blue figure on Visionary Unleashed's incap? I think it might be our Scion, and the eye maches Vengeance Miss Info's Costume, though the spear is new. I guess it depends on when the Unleashioning of Visionary happens in the timeline, as it's possible for a Visionary to Miss Info Psychic fight to happen, though would Freedom Tower be in the background, or would it be the world improved tower? And, further, Visionary is known to have great power, and can utilise it more as Unleashed, so would it make sense for her to lose to miss info without her being boosted? Such mystery...

So Dark Psuedonym over on the Kickstarter just gave me a truly terrifying thought that I'd like to share with everyone.

What if instead of Voss Tim Cosing is Spite/Jack Donovan?

In terms of "worst person to get cosmic power" Spite trumps that list by miles, and, it is interesting that we haven't had an episode of the Letters page for Spite. Maybe he's too niche to get his own page, because all of his story is told by Gloomweaver and Wraith, but also it is possible that they are saving his episode so that they don't spoil him being a Scion.

And the message from the Scion of "Trust me, I'm a much better choice than Oblivaeon to have all that power" takes a much darker tone if it is coming from a psycho serial killer instead of from a warlord. Spite wouldn't want to destroy reality, he'd want to play with it. And isn't that just enought to make you shudder.

The only reason I could think of that ol' Smiling Jack couldn't be a Scion is because Gloomweaver "ate" him to make Skinwalker, and there might not be enough of him left to be turned into a Scion.

Still, it was a fascinating idea that was scary enough I wanted to share it.

You're overlooking I feel that this warlord wants to enslave everyone to his will. "You can either let OblivAeon destroy the galaxy or let me enslave it" is an extremely twisted offer.

I thought about Felix, but the problem is nobody is going to know who that is if they only bought the game and don't do deep lore dives.

GTG has a lot of showmanship, and it'd be wasted if it was an obscure figure. It has to be someone from the card game.

Edit: And the Time-crazed prisoner is not Felix, it is just one of many people driven mad by the Block.

I didn't say prisoner. The prisoner is also time-crazed, but Felix has been in Null Space even longer than him.

You're basing your "showmanship" argument on the assumption that "Redacted" is covering up something they don't want us to see yet. If this is the unedited Scions list, then the scion that calls himself Redacted is really no more obscure than Sanction. The fact that they mentioned Voidsoul whispering in Felix's ear makes me think there's more going on there than we've been told.

I'm utterly terrified by the Spite idea too, don't get me wrong. It just looks like the black box is printed on the page, not MS Painted on after the fact.

I think the final scion is obvious. OblivAeon wants someone that is already great at working in large groups and can weild power beyond what his body should be able to hold. That man is Ronway the Cursed Scion.

While he may be working for OblivAeon, it’s clear his true loyalties would be with the amazing GloomWeaver. So Ronway the Cursed Scion is after the power of OblivAeon to give to GloomWeaver. Surely with that much power GloomWeaver would have no issues coming to our world. Soon out world will be engulfed into darkness and our overlord will rule with a bone fist!

Honestly that's been one of the most difficult parts of the ARG for me to keep straight: I keep thinking that everything that happened in the ARG is precursor to OblivAeon, then I remember that Ra died to OblivAeon, and End of Days even states that "the cosmic entity responsible for everything" showed up…which means Ra died before the Scion's Aid.

Is "Dark Psuedonym" my fleshchild duplicate?   (I'm Darth Pseudonym over on Kickstarter, and also on Steam, btw.)

I'm with you on the 'very worst person to become a scion' thing, but I don't know where you're getting the idea that Gloomy ate Jack's soul.  According to the Gloomweaver episode of Letters Page, they "switched places" when Gloomy inhabited the body to become the Skinwalker, and they never mentioned Spite again in that episode – which means Jack's soul got shoved off into the Realm of Discord somewhere, along with the majority of Gloomweaver's power (at least until Gloomypants was able to go into Rotting God form).

However, all that said, when I go back and read the Scion's Aid ARG fragment (which I haven't in six months), it sends me back to thinking it's gotta be Voss.  I know each of these points has counterarguments, but:

  1. The spoken lines sound more like something Voss would say than Spite. (In particular, "little heroes of Earth" sounds like an alien warlord.)

  2. The silhouette could certainly fit Voss (in a 'take a knee' pose), but would only fit Spite if he's in a particularly buff but not mutated state.

  3. Spite's soul was dumped into the Realm of Discord, which is weird and trippy but hardly 'beyond space and time', which is where the Scion says it was found.  But at 1:09 in the Gloomweaver Letters Page, that's precisely the phrase used to describe where Nightmist banishes her foes: "She's sending them nowhere.  She's sending them beyond space and time.  They are nowhere and nowhen." (Props to Chogb001, who noted this back in April, which helped me find the exact quote.)

I'd love to see Scion Spite, but the evidence for Voss is stronger.

ES
Escher

Yeah, I mean, even if Spite got grabbed right in the middle of the Skinwalker event, that's a really short timeline, and it doesn't really fit what the Scion said.  The Scion made it sound like it was lost outside time and space for a long, er… time, and then had a decently long time to learn about Oblivaeon.  And that doesn't fit with Jack's necessarily short time of partnership.

This Outside of time and space is one of the reasons I really think that the scion is Voss. Nightmist banishes him to who knows where outside reality and on top of that he is banished off of Timm Blvd in the art. Between Tim on that card, Mistbound being another 9 letter word that the ARG cared so much about and Rainek fitting alphabetically, I'd be really shocked if it wasn't Voss.

Yes, Iron Legacy is one of the front-running candidates for the Tenth Scion.  The biggest argument against him is the Scion's Aid page from the ARG, which makes it clear that the Scion wants Oblivaeon's power for himself, which isn't really the Iron Legacy style.  Voss wants to rule the universe; Iron Legs wants justice at the cost of freedom.

I have a hard time imagining Iron Legacy using phrases like "little heroes of Earth" and "sweet child", not to mention accepting a "collar" from Oblivaeon – would Iron Legacy allow himself to become the pawn of a universe-destroying force on the off chance that he could snatch its power away?  I don't think so.

Also, the Scion indicates that he was lost outside time & space before Oblivaeon found him, which doesn't fit well with being snatched out of an imploding timeline.

Wager Master shows up in a Mission Card 99% guarenteed (there was a mission card in the demo a few years back mentioned a Wager, it was amusingly useless in the end so I feel really confident it is Wager Master getting involved)

So, I doubt he ends up as a Scion as well.

What about one of the Endlings ? There are some who are depicted as bad in their flavour text. Slamara has the right name ,and her flavour text seems to show knowledge of the future, What if she joined Oblivaeon to avoid that future for her and chard her mind. The enclave was kind of outside time so that fits too

A thought I had after listening to the La Capitan podcast and learning La Comodora's fate...

It sounds an awful lot like she's trapped beyond time and space. And time and space being what they are in the Multiverse, couldn't that mean OblivAeon could have recruited her before her normal self got trapped there?

What if she took the deal because she saw herself as a traitorous Scion who's key to defeating OblivAeon?

Could she be aiding the heroes as La Privateer?

(I know, the alphabetical order doesn't quite work, but it's the closest piratey term I could find; that and Skull and Bones)

Though it's an interesting theory, I don't think this is the case.

From what the Letters Page has told us by the RPG timeline that LC is still... wherever she is outside of time and space. I know time shenanigans are her M.O., but from the sounds of it crashing her ship into OblivAeon was her last act.

Though I suppose it's still possible, what with how powerful OblivAeon seemingly is...

CH
Chaosmancer

I don't think so, mainly because time shenangins aren't exactly what Oblivaeon is known for.

We won't see any of the major forces from the RPG as Scions (as in if the team introduces a new immensley powerful villain, they won't have that villain have later become a scion for Oblivaeon) because the RPG timeline didn't exist until Oblivaeon was defeated and Oblivaeon can't act in times after he has been defeated.

Essentially, I don't think Oblivaeon is paradox proof like La Commodora, so since she was lost mid-fight with him, he didn't have the "time" to go and recruit her in his weakened state, and if he was going to do something like that, he would have gotten her ealier so she couldn't hit him that hard and add to his defeat.

It just causes too many time shenangins

I'm not saying that OblivAeon himself timetraveled to get her.

I'm saying she's outside of time, like Chrono Ranger was. Just because she entered during the OblivAeon fight doesn't mean she's only there "after" the OblivAeon fight, because she's in a place where terms like "after" just don't apply.

We already know that Tim Cosing was trapped somewhere outside of time and space, so we know that it's something OblivAeon can do.

So what I'm saying is, by knocking herself outside of time, she put herself in a place where OblivAeon could have, in theory, come across her much earlier in OblivAeon's personal timeline.

Now, the dialogue with the traitor Scion just plain doesn't sound like Maria Helena, so I'm honestly not inclined to think she actually is Tim Cosing. I just think it's a possibility and that Voss is perhaps too obvious a candidate, so I wanted it on the record just in case.

I feel like Maria Helena Is an out-there guess, so I’m going to provide a few more just for fun. FYI, they all start with R because Q  and something before SA is hard to find, and I’m not original enough to come up with a name after PR

Red Note: If Dark Visionary’s spirit can be a Scion, why can’t the Dark Conductor? (However, Argent still has problems with him in Tactics I think, so...)

Reincarnate: Apostate has taken a new body and accepted Oblivaeon’s call. Fits well with his power of taking control of corpses after he kills them (Idk, again, he shows up afterwards, but...)

(I was about to say how cool would it be if the Celestial Tribunal was a Scion, because I was looking for potential scions in evil heroes, villains, AND environments.)

Reflection: Glamour seems like an awesome scion, but I can’t tell how Oblivaeon could’ve found her outside time and space.

Renegade sounds like an awesome name for the traitor Scion, but I think Chrono-Ranger dons that name in Tactics. I really want that to be it though.

Again, completely random ideas, just for fun and covering my bases so I may win once Oblivaeon ships.

I think Voss seems like a good guess.  It would explain why we have not gotten a Letter Page about him yet.  Considering the other three initial villians were covered within the first 10 episodes just seems odd that we have went this long without dedicating an episode about him.  Tempest is also the only non-core hero we have not talked about yet.  We have had episodes on characters that are not even out yet, it seems like they are intentionally holding these two back for some reason.

As of the Urban Settings episode, it sounded like there will be a Captain Cosmic/Infinitor episode set coming up soonish before Tempest/Voss, right? Did I hear that correctly? Then Tempest would close out the Prime Wardens block after that, I would think. But scheduling in all these Not Closing Out the Prime Wardens Block Block does indeed seem to point towards pushing off the Hypothetical Voss Reveal to closer to release.

Aside: I mistyped it as Time Wardens and that's now the name of the Prog Rock group La Comodora and Chrono-ranger will co-front.

I think Iron Legacy is unlikely. It doesn't fit really, and Oblivaeon had other uses for the Iron Legacy Timeline and therefore Iron Legacy. La Commodora stopped that during the fight, erasing that timeline, and Oblivaeon couldn't have grabbed Iron Legacy from outside time and space until after that. Oblivaeon's own timeline seems inviolable, so the logic doesn't pan out for me. He would have known the timeline was erased before La Commodora ruined his plans by erasing that timeline and that doesn't work.

FrivYeti

It also doesn't fit his goals and motives. Iron Legacy is evil, but his basic goal remains to protect and save the world - his thing is being absolutely ruthless and cruel in doing so. Oblivaeon wants to destroy everything; I don't think Iron Legacy's unyielding certainty would bend to serve that, even as a ploy.

Well, there's a chance he could be. Apocalypse, with all his pwoer, corrupts mutants to be his Horsemen. Thier power amps up, and their personality changes. They start to lose that empathy, and depending on which Horseman, certain restrictions. So, though Iron Legacy was Lawful Evil, he can be changed so that his ruthless oprder transists to something more relentless and destructive.

Or, the last Scion can be me.

But there is no card for UXM266, and we know it isn't Ambuscade.

The idea of it being Parse could potentially work. As we see on her foil incap art, her connection with Oblivaeon is fairly direct, and her ability to see the flaws and weaknesses and exploit them could be something that Oblivaeon wants to exploit himself.

We see her analyzing Oblivaeon early on in her Fugue State Incap art, but we haven't seen or heard of them fighting.

So, here's an interesting tidbit:

On the recently-released OblivAeon rulebook, there's a passage describing a strange interaction in regards to the [REDACTED] scion:

If a hero would be resurrected by the Rites of Revival from the Temple of Zhu Long, that hero character card is instead returned to the box, making it available to be played later in the game.  Any reward cards under that hero card are immediately put into the hand of the player who controlled that hero.  However... (Begin REDACTED block)

This seems to imply [REDACTED] either interferes with the players' ability to resurrect heroes OR it interferes with reward cards in some manner.  I'm not sure either Voss or Parse would fit either of those...

There is one more hint no one's pointed out yet: the text box.  You can just barely see the box that contains the name under the top of the *REDACTED* black box.  It's all the way over on the left, but those boxes are centered.  This means that the 10th scion's full name is long, like Nixious the Chosen and Borr the Unstable.

Of course, there could be any old apellation on there.  "Rutabaga the Relentless" or whatever.  But it's not going to be a simple name.

I'd suggest that being imbued directly with OblivAeon's power also comes with a bit of mind control and thus are okay with being destroyed, but the Last Scion seems to be able to act against him.
