Talk about the new foil cards in this thread, at least for a little bit. We don’t want to spoil the surprise while it’s still shipping, and we don’t want to wait to talk about it.

They're shiny!
Dey be purdy!
Thanks Pydro! Hopefully I get to check back in this thread in a day or two…
America's Cleverest Legacy isn't in it.
But I think most people already knew that. :(
I really like how the incap for DW Expat and DW Setback are tied together. I'm not sure how rats really are the downfall for DW Fixer though.
Foil spoilers, or 'foilers'.
...I'll show myself out.
One card that I really liked was the power on completion it's guise. It's incredibly unique and I'll probably end up getting guise so I can try that one out too.
I also really like the art for the extreme prime wardens. And their powers are pretty awesome too.
I was a little disappointed that all the new heroes have a single nemesis icon, being oblivean. There could be a hidden meaning there, but I was still hoping it'd be different. I do like that the void guard heroes are still nemeses with La Capitan.
having the foil hero cards makes me excited for oblivean even though it's still a while away.
I also like like that some of the powers give insight to some of the cards that some heroes will have. There's not much we can infer from that information yet, but it wets my taste for oblivean a bit.
I think the shared nemesis icon is to indicate they are mostly here for one goal and being new heroes into the fray they don't have the history to have established a nemesis. Along with that it also means most of the new heroes deal extra damage against each other which I think is interesting.
I will agree it would have been neat for each of them to have a unique nemesis icon but the options would have been using existing icons, which wouldn't br personal to them either, or have it be related to Scions with OblivAeon.
Who says thats the nemesis Icon for OblivAeon?
anyone have an issue with blue ink bleed from the bottom? Only on a handful of cards.
My Story:
Get E-mail saying beautiful cards will arrive on Friday. The world looks bright and hope swells for the future.
Worry sets in, how will I protect my beautiful cards?
Order great sleeves, Amazon Prime says "don't worry they will arrive with your cards", the world is in harmony and beautiful.
Thursday. . . Get E-Mail from Fed Ex: "Where do you even live bro, this address is crap, what is a Pennsylvania? We're sending this back to St Louis and we hope you die." (actual E-mail text)
The world sinks into despair and weeping. Why would we even try to stop OblivAeon, bring on the void, there's no point to this life anyway.
Friday: Drop kids at school. Lose to OblivAeon. Post on Forums. Put on shoes, walk out door and see two boxes on the porch. One from Amazon, one from GtG.
Walk inside, post this message, and leave late to pick up kids.
The new cards are gorgeous. Love them.
As for some foilers:
We all say it (most of us at least), if you are dealing damage with Argent Adept, Visionary, or Captain Cosmic you are doing something wrong. Looks like GtG said "challenge accepted".
The Harpy looks interesting, but I'm really hoping she brings something to the table that really synergizes with the rest of the Dark Watch team. Maybe some out of turn power uses to make Expat's Aim a little more attractive option. Or maybe ways to feed Nightmist more cards. Something. I love the Dark Watch team as a concept. In play at the moment they just feel like a group of individuals who just happen to be fighting the same villain.
The new Xtreme Prime Wardens: WOW, just WOW.
The Freedom V: I haven't had time to really dig into how their new powers will work together but they all look pretty interesting. Oh, and if you thought Freedom V Legacy's power was broken, wait until you read the incap abilities.
Decks I Must Have Yesterday: The Idealist and Akash'Thriya. I don't know what kind of crazy mechanics GtG has going on for these 2 but I really wanna get into those decks and see what the heck is going on.
Biggest surprise: Stuntman. This is the character I was least looking forward to. After seeing his power though, I'm really interested to see what is in his deck. It's not that his power is game breaking or anything. Its just hints at a different play style.
Biggest disappointment: Benchmark. I was really looking forward to him. His power though doesn't really tell me much about him or draw me in. I still hold out hope his deck will be awesome though.
Saw a smudge on Guise's incap powers but haven't really noticed any others with problems.
I like how he plays currently and he was one I wanted to be sure played well. So I hope you won't be disappointed.
anyone know yet if the foil cards will fit sleeved in the box they come in? just until the big box comes out next year.
I don't think they'll fit in the big box when sleeved either.
Yeah, they're stretching that box pretty thin just holding OblivAeon. I mean, have you seen that guy?! He's HUGE!
Spoiler Time:
Sleeving my cards and saying things.
At the meet and greet Adam was asked what was happening on several of the incaps. One that stood out to me was Scholar of the infinite.
Scholar and Guise are fading out, Scholar is pushing the Philosopher stone into Guise to save him. (The next sentence is my understanding, but not expressly stated) Scholar does not survive this, and somehow the Stone merges with Guise.
If anyone is curious, the FV set of incaps do indeed tell the story of the FV fighting OblivAeon, they go together, although not necessarily direct line.
Lifeline's incap is the saddest art in the game, according to Adam. When I stated that Bloogo could pull through, Christopher laughed and said, "Sure, he's fine, Bloogo just went to the farm."
Adept's Dark Dynamics features one of the Virtuoso's instruments. It is a dark instrument and thus the incap. (It's a conductor's baton with a rose wrapped around it)
Xtreme Prime Warden (XPW) Adept's incap may also feature a virtuoso instrument.
Prime Warden Cosmic is fixed! seriously, play that variant now. (no longer prevents the destuction)
I'm listening to "Can I Play with Madness" on you tube right now, because the video fits that incap so very well (XPW Cosmic).
I don't understand Prime Warden Haka's incap, he rules in the arena. Must have been really bad card luck.
When it comes to the XPW cards, I can tell you that there was a battle between Balance and Awesome, and Awesome won.
Redeemer Fanatic's incap is my favorite art in the entire game. So much for playing nice.
Beardy Ra incap: "I'm sorry, that is clearly a mane and not a neckbeard. I take it back."
Naturalist Desperate Prey incap: You know Akash photoshopped that to make it look like she's leaning on the mountain, right?
There are a ton of references and jokes in Adam's art, one of his favorite jokes is Idealist's incap.
Luminary's incap is one of my favorite pieces of storytelling in the game.
Heroic Luminary's incap Legacy has the greatest expression. (Heroic Luminary is officially what Adam and Christopher call her unofficially)
Tachyon's body language in Harpy's incap. . . wow.
Professor Polution, meet Akash'thriya. (I can't imagine that goes well)
Stuntman (Tireur Incroyable) incap I can confirm that Ambuscade has those scars in the RPG, Adam didn't know about Tactics.
Benchmark's suit isn't just made by RevoCorp, it is Revenant's suit. Also there have apparently been more than one pilot of the revenant suit. Revenant is the head of Revo-Corp. That should help explain his incap.
Bonus points to anyone who can figure out the 4 people on the back of Benchmark's supply and demand card.
Hmm. . . I wonder why that wrecking ball on Malpractice's incap is all foil? what could that mean?
Greazer so glad to be able to target a Sentinel.
Super Sentai Idealist is the best card ever. Both sides.
Guise's third incap, the funky dance is not optional.
Completionist Guise gets a bonus if his card is sleeved. I don't know what it is, but that is official.
Last, but definitely not least, they do fit in the box sleeved. Rather perfectly I might add.
To quote one Samuel Vimes: "Well, no, you didn't. That was me jumping to what we call a conclusion"
I decided to crack them open, and my favorite incap is either Setback or Idealist (sentinels idealist, regular) and the "Reel Degree from Collij"
Apparently there is a decent amount of interaction between Idealist and Wager Master as he shows up on the Sentinels Idealist and then Super Sentai Idealist.
I still am curious as to how the Void Guard decks interact with the Sentinels deck.
Oh nooooo.
Is it just me, or is the base Mr. Fixer incap art the same as before?
Comparing the two it's the same thing but the newer one is an improved version of the first.
I have no inside information, but It's my educated guess that the wrecking ball is coming from Idealist. Medico kinda goes off the deep end after being manipulated with tainted energies or whatever hapens to him.
Just sleeved mine (premium sleeves). They fit well.
I too have the basic guise incap smudge, but I still love these cards. Can’t wait to try skyscraper, and bunker will LOVE it if legacy goes down…Playing cards in turret mode Jr recharge mode? Heck yes.
And writhe being able to seemingly keep the same card in play almost indefinitely sounds interesting. Probably the only way to give someone a passive as a power, in the ruleset.
Everybody go lay out the Sentinels on their incapacitated side like right now.
ALADDIN.
Now that I got that excitement out of my system, here are some real observations:
I think the new variants I’m most looking forward to playing are F5 Tachyon, Setting Sun Ra, Extremist Sky-Scraper, and green Captain Cosmic. Also, holy crap, Setting Sun Ra’s incapacitated abilities!
Speaking of incapacitation, how about that art!
I didn’t recognize who that is who’s imprisoned Tachyon. I’m also confused about Greatest Legacy. That’s Baron Blade, not his father.
Benchmark: Supply and Demand looks like it depicts Wraith as the Operative, Fright Train, a Talosian, and an alternate version of Baron Blade. The Talosian-looking person I maybe remember as a mini-nemesis in a Villains deck? Anyway, they seem like some alternate version of the Freedom Four. It’s not clear to me whether they are good or evil.
I think the art that hit me the most was Luminary’s! Baron Blade used his abilities for good, perished in the fight, and now the entire Freedom Five are at his funeral. Sniff! But who is the figure on the hill in the background? I can’t think of anyone who would be watching Ramonav’s funeral that way…except for maybe Ramonav himself. Perhaps he faked his death, to torment the heroes later.
Greatest Legacy killed Baron Blade's dad. Baron Blade killed Legacy's dad.
I'm looking forward to playing with the that version too since it encourages a lot of Construct Destruction
I didn't recognize who that is who's imprisoned Tachyon.
That is Glamour who shows up in Ambuscade's VotM deck, in Tachyon's deck with Nimble Strike, and I believe Uncharmed life in Setback's deck
Supply-Demand Benchmarck comes from a timeline where he is the only hero left in the world. The ones holding him are very much not good guys.
Baron indeed faked his own death and that is him in the shadows. Confirmed in one of the art streams when Adam drew this
Cool! I missed all the art streams, so I’m glad that came through in the finished product.
Ambuscade/Stuntman is another interesting one here. I guess we were too hard on him for thinking that his “disfigurement” was just the band-aid on his cheek. I noticed that his scarred-up face had a bit of flesh stretching over his eye, and that one of Haka’s incapacitations shows him cast into a lava pit, which made me wonder: is that Ambuscade on the Haka of Battle?
In the “random ID” category, we were also thinking that the detective who catches Rook City Wraith is the Quick Draw guy.
A few people mentioned some of their Guise cards getting smudged. Our Completeionist Guise has some smudged text and a little ding on the corner of the card, too. I think Christopher did that on purpose to troll us.
Well his disfigurement was pretty minor until the events of OblivAeon so I will still mock him in his normal and VotM versions.
Evil. That version of Benchmark comes from an alternate universe where he is the only hero, and all other powered individuals are villains.
I loved the base Benchmark's incap, myself.
Isn't Greatest Legacy the grandfather of Finest Legacy?
I believe he is the grandpa of Young Legacy and the father of finest Legacy.
Yep Greatest is 7th and Finest is 8th making them father and son
Trajectory where you talking about Highbrow the parse nemesis from frictions deck ? Only char I can think of who looks talosian
I haven't been able to keep track of the conversation too well, but this was my first thought. What would be worse, vis-a-vis an incapacitation scenario, for a completionist than smudged art on his own card?
So for those of us who didn't get the foil, but got the other all-heroes pack, will that have similar art, or will it depict entirely different scenes for the incaps?
The non-foil all-variants pack will include the same art as on the foil pack. However, the alternate versions of the base forms of the heroes only appears in the foil pack.
I flipped through mine last night after my kids were in bed, but the light wasn't great (only had my bedside lamp on). I think there's going to be lots of speculation work ahead of Foote based off of art that we saw.
Am I the only person who noticed a general theme of the FV variants of the heroes mostly reflecting the base power of their various other alternates?
Things I love:
Lore Questions:
System Questions:
Okay nobody has said it yet. Is parse becoming a scion? And is that scion on skyscrapers huge incap?
my Team Leader Tachyon has a dark section on the begining of her power section. Is this normal or a defect? Can we get a replacement foil if we have defected ones?
My guess is that they are victims of Spite
Defect, I think. I don't see that. Don't know about replacements.
Just played a game with Green Cosmic, Extremist Sky-Scraper, Extreme PW Tempest and Extreme PW Fanatic!
Giving Sky-Scraper an Augmented Ally is nuts. And giving THIS version of her one is insane, especially when she starts from Normal size. She can change size four times a turn!
Look at what Fanatic’s new power does to Divine Focus’s start of turn effect…
Ha! Nice one.
I think they're the couple Spite drops on Collateral Damage.
PWatson is 100% right, they are! Mystery solved.
I'm still working my way through the cards (too many distractions!) but they are v. pretty. Makes me excited for the game again. Not that I ever really stopped!
After extensive testing(one game), xtreme haka is captor bots best friend.
Don't have the card in front of me, but I thought Xtreme Haka's power only affected hero character cards?
For Ra and Fanatic it is this scene from the ARG Not authorized, they also worked together during the Baptism by Fire series based on flavor text, and from what from what we've been told in Q&A sessions that while they cared about each other though it may not have been romantic
Unity rebuilds Omnitron-X from this in the ARG Not authorized and it would indicate she considers him a friend. It makes a lot of sense that she would be since he was a sentient robot similar to the bots she is able to generate.
System Questions:Does Lifeline (standard)'s incap trigger only if ALREADY max? Or, since they're separate sentences, does hitting max from the heal allow the conditional to be met?
Healing to max should meet the conditional in the second sentence.
You are correct it only affects other hero character cards.
The new Absolute Zero's power seems absolutely insane to me. Zero's big problem has always been getting set up with how slow his deck tends to move - now 100% solved.
The ability to pull Subzero Atmosphere out of your deck at will seems almost game-breakingly good against some villains.
It helps get him setup for sure but you still need his modules to make the most use out of his cards.
Argh, not knowing what these powers are is killing me.
*furiously waits for someone to update the wiki*
If you check the right places (reddit/r/sentinelsofthemultiverse or BGG's general thread), at least one person has already dropped a complete list of all the hero powers/incaps. I don't know what the policy is on dropping something like that; if it's okay though, I'd totally link it here.
Also, I find it cool at this point that no one has actually taken photos of the cards and shared them; all experiences have been coming word of mouth, allowing people to see the cards when they finally get a hold of them. I really like that.
So, my son and I played a game last night with FV Legacy. Talk about OP! We played in Time Cataclysm against Gloomweaver and managed to get Atlantean Throne Room and Fixed Point on the table with everything else in the discard. Legacy went last and kept putting Fixed Point on the "bottom" of the library. Heroes were Omni, AZ, Fixer, Naturalist and of course Legecy. Except for AZ and Legacy, the other heroes managed to have all kinds of "only one" items in play (platings, tools, styles, forms). Either we played it wrong, or Overwatch can be CRAZY it you manage to get Time Cataclysm discarded correctly! Thoughts from the more seasoned testers?
I think that was the complaint from some playtesters that this could happen but it's not going to easily happen in every environment and against every villain.
Also sometimes the extra card play for a hero is better overall.
Powerhound, that was certainly true for most of the game. I was initially afraid he would be worthless in the early game, then we re-read the ENTIRE power and realized his early game contribution was additional card plays, then transition to environment control as needed. It got kinda sick when Naturalist turned into a Crocerosazelle! I think a different thread mentioned Naturalist's cards trigger against each form he is in, so when he was in all three, he had cards triggering all three abilities! Card draw and healing galor! In the end, I agree, FV Legacy's power seemed OP in the game we were in, but in others, may be more manageable.
I love the cards. But like a few posters above, I have a small batch of cards with a "bleed effect" on the bottom. I know that GTG is probably full on working at getting the rest of the cards out and preping OblivAeon, but will there eventually be a way to get replacement foils for the defected ones?
I would e-mail contact@greaterthangames.com as usual to see about replacement parts. The now have several employees working on different things, and it's no longer Gen Con season, so I wouldn't necessarily expect a delay.
Can someone post a picture of the bleed? I'm nervous about my own cards: I don't think I have it, but I'm not sure I know what to look for.
Yeah,I can post a picture of mY guise bleed. It basically looks like when a marker gets wet.
Fun with new cards during a day of sentinels with friends.
Parse is crazy strong. Although you have to be careful, like don't put parse right before the environment turn and then blindly play the bottom card of Fanatic's deck. That can go bad. . . really bad. Seriously, we played End of Days when we were all set up and Infinitor had no manifestations out. Fugue State Parse + FV Legacy dominate any match without destruction. Infinitor became a joke after 3 rounds, you know, aside from when we destroyed everything.
Kill the Spirit and Plague Rat is fun. Everyone else wan't happy about the Afflicted attacks, but Fanatic loved it.
Completionist Guise loves Fanatic, Redeem and Resolute are great powers for him, as is Barbarian - Exorcism. Sadly we haven't incapped Completionist Guise yet, so his amazing incaps haven't gotten used.
Freedom V match was ridiculous. Legacy was set up increadibly fast thanks to overwatch and Tactical Uplink. Wraith shut down Dawn and fed Tachyon cards. Poor Citizens, they were no match.
But the best yet involved a card without a deck, when Dark Watch and Kaargra Warfang were put on trial before the Celestial Tribunal.
Mr. Fixer with Jackhandle and Bloody Knuckles using Representative of Earth Blood Mage Lifeline's innate power was pretty impressive, and ended that fight really fast.
…That is sick. I applaud you.
Wow
I usually find Zero has the opposite problem - with 4 of each module, 4 onboard module installations, and 4 modular realignments, nearly half of his deck is centered around getting his modules out. The problem then frequently becomes that you've got nothing BUT modules and equipment and are having trouble getting his other toys. This version can dig straight to that Thermal Shockwave or Coolant Blast - and it really makes him a blast to play. This guy is basically the most fun version of AZ to me. A+ design.
Agreed - you have effectively 8 copies of the fire module in AZ's deck so it's quite likely you can zap something for 2 and also drop a Coolant Blast or something on turn 1. That's fantastic. You can get AZ up and running 2-3 turns faster than you normally fight - and Pilot Light is also fantastic for playing the board state. Going up against Voss and his minions? Play Focused Apertures and Pilot Light out Cold Snap. Going against Progeny? Load up on Impales. For my money, this is overall the best version of AZ ever made.
I have a bit more to flesh out here, though Powerhound is 100% right. From talking with Adam at conventions, I know that there is a strange sexual tension between Fanatic and Ra (thought you wouldn't see that in the card art). These are both fierce and fiery personalities that are very much wrapped around a self identification as divine in one form or another. This is obviously a massive character conflict since polytheism and monothesim are fundamentally different. There is a lot of emotion that can and does run high between them wich forms a bond, but ideology is something that keeps them at arms length and never something more. But when Ra dies, we get the story of just how strong that bond actually is. I've kept that to myself for a few years, but it seems appropriate to share that at this time.
So they're basically two very intense people who enjoy being really intense around each other? Like, not even in a romantic way, just a really strong bond forged in killing dudes with faith.
Faith and Fire: Linked since forever.
Um, maybe? I mean, they are not my characters, and we don't have much in-game text or art to go off of. I just have vauge memories of a conversation with Adam about Fanatic (who is probably my favorite character next to Scholar). My impression is that there was a lot of almost secret admiration between them, to the point of love, but their ideological differences stemming from two radically different points of the theistic scale squash any chance of a real romantic entanglment. It seems to me that there was strong sexual tension between them that could never be acted upon.
Never said he wasn't any good but that to still get the most effectiveness out of AZ you still need the modules. This is a great bonus for those hands without any modules or Onboard Module Installation as you can at least pile on Impales, Cold Snap, or Sub Zero Atmosphere in the mean time and if you do have the modules get out Coolant Blast or Thermal Shockwave. Normal AZ still has the advantage over his variants of being able to heal with just Null Point out and none of the others can do that without getting more in play or specific cards in hand. I will say that those who are down on AZ I would introduce them to this variant or F6 version as a way to get them to understand how he works.
I look at Xtreme Captain Cosmic's power and remember all those games I've played with tons of constructs in play. With just a slight damage boost, or even without, this version of Captain Cosmic can be a powerhouse. I can't wait to try out the new Xtreme Prime Wardens on the tabletop.
My biggest question though is when is Handelabra gonna find the time between today and tomorrow to get them all into the video game?
Well by sounds of what they've said on the live streams the variants won't be specifically tied to expansion releases so hopefully sooner than later. I would guess they might implement some while they get Vengeance setup to calm the masses while they get that working.
Calm the masses? Hah! Have you met us? ![]()
I didn't say it would work but they can try.
Adam and Christopher talked about this at the last Gen Con panel. In particular, Ra's last words ("I always believed in you", to Fanatic) are quite significant in this regard.
Finally got my cards. Had a heartattack because the mailman brought a trashed cardboard box to the front door, luckily the foil box was much smaller than the carboard box and the bubble wrap protected it. At least mostly, a lot of the cards seemed scratched, like the wraith's cards in particular. I'm not sure if they were artistically done or if there was a problem with the printer or if it was the mail.
Looking throught everything, I was really impressed. There are a few pieces I prefer the original artwork for (young legacy unfortuanetly since I don't have the original, and F6 Bunker for the incap) but overall these are amazing.
Things I noticed or had questions about:
Who are the people on Wraith's new flip side? Victims of Spite definetly, but were they people Maia knew, or simply people she couldn't stop him from killing? Also like how there is Graffiti on the Front side saying "Spite Lives"
Visionary's Dark side is shown interfering more than ever before. Get her on Visionaries flip, Dark Visionary's flip (looking like when I saw her as a scion in Gencon) and Prime Warden Argent Adept's flip.
Who is the blue spectral lady on Unleashed Visionary's incap. She doesn't look like any other figure I remember seeing.
Parse's flip side now clearly shows she was influenced by Oblivaeon. I don't see her as a scion anywhere, but what if he touched her mind directly and downloaded information. You know... let's assume Oblivaeon the mulitverse spanning threat who is shepherding reality into a single point can multi-task at a high level. We know he brought Cosmic Omnitron to life, we know that Parse was given powers at the same time. We assumed it was accidental, maybe it was maye it wasn't. What if Oblivaeon is craftier than we gave him credit for and created Parse on purpose. Used her as a data gathering tool, then downloaded everything she had observed about the heroes and the reality, using that data to craft an unbreakable shield and formulate an unbeatable method of attack. Then used Progeny as a test run, refining his measurements.
Dark Watch Expat's incap make me sad. And I don't want to be sad because all the new expat art is beautiful.
I wonder where Setback's incap is taking place. Tachyon's lab?
Oh, and if there was any doubt that we should hate Victor, Tempest incap cleared that up
Prime Wardens Cosmic flip side, there is Empyron as a Scion.
Cosmic brothers incap, "I never leave the game, what are you talking about" I love it.
Xtreme Haka incap ability to become a 0 hp indestrutible target is awesome. Can think of many situations that is useful
Prime Wardens Fanatic flip side. The Blood Countess' eyes are glowing gold. Does this mean that the vampires suck out the power with the blood (tachyon becoming spawn might indicate that, but it would seem she would have kept the power not the "sire" vampire. Which leads me to the conclusion that Fanatic's blood is closely tied to her power, if not the direct source of it somehow. I wonder if th RPG will layout some sort of connection between Apostate, Fanatic and the Origins of Vampires in the Sentinels world.
Ra Setting Sun is wonderful... but ow, so much ow. I don't think we have ever seen a character so dedicated to removing himself from the game.
Best of times Chrono, flip side, love his face as I assume he is in Pompei.
Sky-scrapers normal side flip, the conversation that had to happen eventually. I'm guessing he is showing her a recreation of the destruction of his homeworld by her people.
Writhe flip, pirate crew? Was one of La Capitan's plans to convert Writhe to her side?
Adamant Medico flip, Blade is playing Bejeweled, your argument is invalid.
Hero Luminary Flip, we finally get to see Legacy of Destruction... and it is good.
Harpy Flip side, is this right before the ARG comic? The text of the comic implies Nightmist discovered her on her own, but if we assume her escape from incarceration happened soon after the time she killed those people. Perhaps Tachyon showed up, determined to stop her cousin once and for all, but saw the state she was in, or noticed Nightmist approaching and backed down. Very powerful moment. Honestly, I hope Harpy's deck is awesome, because the is shaping up to have a wonderful story arc.
Black Spot Commodora and Void Akash'thriya, anyone lse wondering if those purple energy forms are connected somehow? Is that how the Capitan removed the Black Spot and ended up a villain again, she merged with Akash'thriya and the two of them were one for a short time?
Benchmark Supply and Demand flip. Agree on Alt Baron Blade with scars, High Mind, and an Alt Fright Train, but I'm not sure who the lady is. She is where an outfit reminiscent of Beacon with a design that makes me think operative, but her face is different enough I can't place her, also glowing teartrack marks.
The next three can count as Oblivaeon Spoilers from my time at Gencon
Void Medico flip, the cloaked figure is Nixus the Chosen who was a Scion I saw who I guessing was the previous owner of the MAtriarch's mask (his first side is Master of the Flock) and who I think got massively corrupted by the Realm of Discord.
Void Mainstay flip, that looks to be Bor the Unstable, another scion who explodes into massive damage when defeated.
Void Idealist flip, that is Faultless, the scion that becomes a hero when you break Oblivaeon's control. His color scheme might indicate that the Idealist's shard is the one that he himself broke off of Oblivaeon when they battled.
I actually didn't interpret that as influence. The way I saw it was that Parse could see the "shatterpoints" of how to break things, but OblivAeon doesn't have any shatterpoints and it was making her despair.
Re: parse, the scion on huge extremist skyscraper has the same markings a s parse’s incap.
Writhe's incap as a pirate thoughts!
La Capitan, the favorite time-traveling pirate captain, is the nemesis for the Sentinels. Writhe was a criminal before he joined the Sentinels. That incap art is probably him having joined her-- probably in defeat for the Sentinels, or maybe even outright betraying them to her.
Hopefully that’s alternate universe!
Y'know, that XPW Haka incap power is odd. We've got a similar one on standard Huge Sky-Scraper, but she's got 1 HP and he's got 0. Why the difference?
I can only think that, even in death, Haka wants to make sure he can protect everyone. Or her in particular. Because, y'know, she's the only person who's bigger than he is, of course he'd be impressed. Well, I guess I ship that now. Curse you, foil pack.
Does that explain Tachyon hitting Writhe on Supersonic Response?
Probably not since he isn't in the pirate outfit
Also keep in mind that Writhe initally started out as a criminal so it isn't too far fetched that Tachyon initially subdued him.
The Sentinels’ incap art is totally a reference to Disney’s Aladdin. I’m not sure why, but it’s hilarious.
Can someone post a picture? I'm super curious
I can!

Look it is a picture!
Now what is this you are curious about?
Not sure if that was what he meant. He said he was super curious. I think it is missing a cape.
So, did anybody else notice the shadow in the background of Luminary's incap art? Do we know who that is?
We know from the art stream Adam did and it's none other than the Baron himself.
I have a theory on that blue lady! Not enough to make a footenotes post out of it, but whens the last time I got to post a story theory? I'll enjoy this.
At the moment, there are quite a few instances of art where we see characters depicted in this "spectral" form. Visionary and Dark Visionary are in the majority of them as early as base Visionary's original incap art. But there have been other's as well. Remember the incap art for Citizen Hammer in VotM? There is even a point where we see Argent Adept depicted in this spectral form (though I forget wich card it's on off the top of my head). So I found myself asking…myself…is there anything that could possibly tie Visionary, Dark Visionary, and Argent Adept of all characters, together? And you know what? There is.
THE VOID
The Void isn't just based around an upcoming environment (Nexus of the Void), it's been around in game lore for years now, but no ones really known to ask. Argent Adept, as you all know, is the Virtuoso of the Void. He harnesses Void energy as his power source (as per the art Q&As). Whats interesting to me is that, also from the art Q&As, we learned that Dark Visionary also partially resides in the Void as well. Whether it's a natural domain or just someplace where her mind dwells after being ejected from our Vanasas mind is unclear, but we know there is a strong connection between Dark Visionary and the Void. If the Q&A doesn't convince you, maybe the fact that both Argent and DVis both project green energy will?
Either way, I think the basis of this theory boils down into something fairly simple. When we see characters portrayed in this spectral style, we are seeing them inside of the Void, or at least seeing a sort of astral projection into the Void. There is a lot of basis for this from standard comics where mental battles between psychics sometimes take place in other planes of existence (this happens frequently in X-Men titles for instance), and I see a similar thing happening here. The blue lady is likely a being of the Void. Unfortunatly, not much else is known about who or what it is aside from that.
On to the Black Spot. I believe I asked this question during the art Q&As if the black circle spot energies between these two characters were the same. I also believe the answer I got was "no". There is a ton of great story we don't know about each of the variants, so it's worth keeping an ear open for and maybe Christopher will dive into these stories in the future.
I think the biggest Foil Spoiler around here is Donner.
He spoiled my chances of getting a Mr Chomps sketch :(
I agree that is the case for Fugue State Parse's Incap, but there is good reason to believe Standard Parse's incap happens before that, and maybe even before Oblivaeon was a known threat.
Also possible that Standard Parse's incap is the moment she is getting her powers.
I agree with most of your assertions, and I'm also remembering something from the Mission Deck that is interesting.
However, she may not be a natural denizen of the Void. She's using a spear and looks human, much like Visionary typically looks human. I find it more likely she is another astral projection into the void, or someone who got trapped there.
Or, from her blank expression maybe she a guardian entity, like an AI or spell that was left to guard something… Atlantean?
Dang it, I'm being called to dinner.
I'm totally on board with you. IT's hard to know exactly who/what she is. But I think the important thing to note is that she is connected and in the Void somehow and someway. Maybe the Nexus of the Void environment will shed more light into this matter?
I believe, prove me wrong, that Cosmitron was revived by Jansa di vero. I believe Christopher said that in the death-metal adept/merry friggin christmas thread
I was wrong.
Can we get a source link on this? This would be news to me and I'd be interested to know if its true or not.
I had assumed it was OblivAeon who we know by name now that revived Omnitron and then became disinterested.
I was going to try to post something, but then I wasn't sure what to post. The previous note was about The Sentinels incap art, but which ones? There are the four base ones, the four alt ones, the four void guard ones, and then the four alt individual ones. I looked through all of those and it wasn't obvious to me which had anything to do with Aladdin, though I admittedly don't know much about Aladdin.
Pirate Writhe is the one they are talking about. Note quite sure how pirates = Aladdin, but I think there is enough connecting the other incaps in that set to make it a thing (like with Medico in the hourglass, Aladin was my first thought as well)
Sounds to me like a "Caught in Time" theme, which would suspect something featuring La Capitan
The normal Southwest Sentinels, in order:
Dr. Medico is trapped in an hourglass by a giant snake. (Perhaps you’d like to see how s-s-s-s-snakelike I can be!)
Then Mainstay is falling down into the ocean, weighed down by chains and cannon balls (never fails…you’re taking a bath and there’s a rub at the lamp! Hello?)
The Idealist is being tormented by a whimsical blue creature - who, if I squint, appears to be doing an impression of Robin Williams from Good Will Hunting.
Finally, Writhe is in a costume that could potentially be pirate OR maybe medieval Arabian, tempted by a pile of treasure (Abu - nooooo!)
Anyway, that’s what I thought when I went through them the first time. I couldn’t stop laughing for a few minutes straight.
I don't know, I thought the snake in the background was supposed to be Geb of the Ennead.
Dammit, I read it wrong. Sorry! Never mind.
Back of medico is Quetalcoatl, Nemesis form Bugbear deck.
Close. It's a reference to Sigmund Freud.
Little known fact, Freud based his entire life on a Robin Williams impression.
The sum of Sigmund Freud’s career can be summarized by repeating the phrase “It’s not your fault.”
Random Thoughts:
For the most part the art is awesome on these new cards, with only a few disappointments where the original art was superior. There are some characters where the background art really suffers.
Speaking of background I noticed that Dark Watch Expatriette (original) is standing near a neon sign that looks like an RE (Revcorp)
Also while looking at Expatriette's cards I noticed that the nemesis symbols have all been redone, all very similar to the originals but cleaned up a bit.
Some Highlights: Fanatic, Visionary, Setback, Unity, Guise (all of which I think are much improved)
Some Lowlights: ChronoRanger, Termination Unity, KNYFE (where I feel the originals are is preferred)
Blue spectral void lady has a white eye symbol on her chest, reminding me of Miss Information.
