I've made myself a little challenge: one fight against each villain, in each environment twice (minus two...), with heroes randomly selected, while each has to be used once before they can be used again. The first few rounds...
Freedom Six Tachyon, Nightmist, Captain Cosmic and Guise held their own against Progeny at the Block, and I'm not being funny when I say it was mostly thanks to Guise.
Omnitron-U, Dark Watch Mister Fixer and Absolute Zero make a surprisingly good team versus the Matriarch (would've been better if any modules had shown up!), but the Thorathian war took its toll on them in short order.
Try as they might, Engine of War Bunker, Fanatic, Sky-Scraper and Elemental Wrath Absolute Zero could not withstand the flying assault of Iron Legacy, even with the help of Enclave of the Endlings. (AZ and Bunker put on an amazing show though, no lie.)

In the biggest upset ever, Chrono-Ranger, Freedom Six Tempest, Dark Watch Expatriette and Eternal Haka took the Chairman down, and I mean downtown, in the Final Wasteland, no Unforgiving Wasteland needed! That impossible challenge taught me something, it seems!
Try as they might, Argent Adept, Dark Visionary, Youngest Legacy and Bunker could not repel Miss Information's assault on Insula Primalis.
Mr. Fixer, Redeemer Fanatic and Visionary fell to Kaargra Warfang and her Gladiators at Megalopolis, no points necessary.
Grand Warlord Voss crumbled like a house of cards before the mighty onslaught of Legacy, Haka, Tempest and the Wraith. Hilariously, Omnitron-IV's Defense Grid would have taken him out, if not for a just-played Mega Computer.
Ra: Horus of Two Horizons and Dark Watch Nightmist were able to keep the Scholar alive through the game from hell: versus Skinwalker Gloomweaver at Pike Industral Plant, for at least a solid hour.
To add insult to injury, after banishing Gloomweaver from this plane of existence, Ra and the Scholar of the Infinite dragged Unity to the Realm of Discord to kick his butt again and leave him there for keeps.
Freedom Six Unity, Expatriette, America's Greatest Legacy, Rook City Wraith and Super Scientific Tachyon took on seven of the Ennead in the Ruins of Atlantis. Tachyon finished things by bouncing a Sonic Vortex off herself to hit Geb twice. :D
G.I. Bunker, Freedom Six Wraith, Omnitron-X and Tachyon learned it is not a good idea to face the Dreamer in Silver Gulch because she kills everything. :(

The Dreamer conjured up memories of multiple Dark Heroes and Tooth Fairies when trying to rouse her and it meant the end for the heroes who were taking extra damage and had no cards.

The Scholar and Guise were in Megalopolis, getting a hotdog and/or contemplating their places in the universe when Baron Blade attacked. Legacy and Tempest called off their fishing trip (catch and release -- Tempest was there to reassure the fish) to assist, and knocked the mad doctor back on his heels.
The Scholar and Tempest then went to Insula Primalis, intent on a nice camping trip, when Akash'Bhuta rose up. Out of nowhere popped the Chrono Ranger, and the three of them took her down with relative ease (turns out Chrono Ranger really loves Obsidian Fields. All three of them.)

The Ennead were up to trouble at Pike Industrial, but, sensing trouble, the Argent Adept, the Scholar and Haka were on hand, joined by Chrono Ranger, who had Golem Unity tagging along, presumably as a vacation from her bad future. It was a close one, with Unity nearly succumbing to her own powers, but in the end Set's incapacitated flailing was the Ennead's undoing, as he kicked off a Vernal Sonata that let the rest of the team clobber Nephtis while Chrono Ranger collected the bounty on The Whole Gang to bring in Shu.

The Chrono Ranger, Dark Visionary and Omnitron-X found themselves time displaced. They thought perhaps they ended up in the prehistoric era, until Akash'Bhuta arose and they realized they were in Insula Primalis. The chaos bringer nearly brought them down, and Chrono Ranger found himself out-hunted, but a timely volcanic eruption brought Akash down before she could finish off the heroes.
(This also marks perhaps the first time I've ever intentionally destroyed an Obsidian Field. Usually I keep them out there because the buff's worth the extra hurt, but she had a couple rounds where I just couldn't get rid of her limbs fast enough and the +1 would've eventually done me in.)

The Ennead were up to no good, trying to break out of The Block -- even causing a riot in their attempt to escape. Sky Scraper, Nightmist, Absolute Zero and Unity were called in, and while it was a close one -- AZ nearly taking himself out along with Shu -- the heroes were victorious.

But I can help maybe. I played, in total, at GenCon:
Wednesday Night I ran a block of the games, where I helped run three tables, these being the results: Ra, Legacy, Captain Cosmic and Tempest vs. Kaargra Warfang at the Celestial Tribunal, barely won. The Hunted Naturalist, Parse, The Adamant Sentinels, SS Tachyon vs Deadline at Insula Primalis, handily won. Bunker, Wraith, Absolute Zero, Unity vs. Miss Information at the Block: lost badly. Kvothe Argent Adept, BoT Chrono, Omnitron-U and Eternal Haka vs. La Capitan in the Time Cataclysm, barely victorious. DW Ex-Patriette, DW Mr. Fixer, DW Nightmist, DW Setback vs. Plague Rat in Rook City: environment and Mr. Fixer made sure they lost and badly. Apostate in the Court of Blood vs. Dark Visionary, PW Fanatic, The Scholar and Guise, lost badly, in which I learned that vampires + relics are terrifying in how they spiral out of control without sufficient environment destruction. Fanatic, though also dead, was MVP. Progeny at Wagners Mars Base vs. KNYFE, Young Legacy, Sky-Scraper. Surprisingly handy victory, lots of damage and boosting made for a brisk game. Total: 7
Mobile release: Weekly One-Shot (last week), and three other Randoms. I forget the specifics. They were just to keep myself busy while the internet sucked at GenCon. Total: 4
Phantaskippy, some rando con-goer and I demo'd (it was a full game though) SotM with the following set up in about five minutes: BB at Insula Primalis vs. Haka, Fanatic and Ra: Total: 1.
I demo'd SotM a surprising seven times in a four hour block of a work shift, with the same set up: Total: 7
I played in an OblivAeon demo, wherein we lost to the Demo Three Hours Clock, with the following crew: Argent Adept (Omnitron X), Legacy (Tachyon), Ex-Patriette (Mr. Fixer), Haka (Unity). You get a backup hero, btw. We played in The Block and Ruins of Atlantis (with Enclave, Insula Primalis and Pike Industrial Complex up on deck). Total: 1?
I also ran the game one night for a friend, wherein I decided to see if I could try Apostate in the Court of Blood and _actually win_. This time we had The Sentinels, Ex-Patriette, Captain Cosmic as the team. We won, thanks only to the Apostate Apocalypseing the environment twice, with our highest - of six heroes - being at 3 HP. Half the Sentinels were dead. It was horrifying. Total: 1.

Oh no! The people of Dok'Thorath were too busy fighting and didn't read the T&Cs they were clicking on when they installed their new weapons software, Omnitron lives again! Fortunately the crack legal team of F.6. Dalton, Long, D.W. Walker and Brooks were on the scene to clean up the mess. The Citizens were so grateful that they offered the heroes shelter in their HQ when their Freedom Fighters were out rioting, something that is so rare it needs commenting on!

The Argent Adept, Fanatic and Captain Cosmic were up on Mars, visiting Unity and Omnitron-X, when the ground erupted in primeval limbs. There was a rough start as the team wondered what Earth's spirit of chaos and nature was doing on Mars, but they were quickly able to rally and beat her back. Akash'Bhuta found little help on Mars, and raiding a cache of high-tech weaponry only served to hurt her more when her limbs were destroyed.

Weee! Eternal Haka and Sky-Scraper were having fun on the ice slides F6 AZ created when Apostate tried to jump the line. The Police of Megalopolis took serious exception to this and shot him dead!

Mars seems to be the go-to destination this week, as Citizen Dawn and her crew headed up there, intent on taking the Super Scientific Tachyon's hard work for their own nefarious needs. Luckily, the Fanatic, Beard Ra, Young Legacy and the Argent Adept were there to help Dr. Stinson send Dawn running, with Ra showing Dawn how it's done in the 'power of the sun' department.

Deadline was redecorating the Realm of Discord when Captian Cosmic, Scholar, Guise, and Bunker threw a wrench into his plans.

And then he fled, pursued by Captain Cosmic, who called in the rest of the Prime Wardens. They caught up with Deadline as he found Omnitron-IV. And while the Prime Wardens probably would agree with destroying Omnitron, they couldn't risk the collateral damage. It was a close one (Deadline's second turn: 8 environment cards removed; his third turn: 5 cards removed), but they managed to finish him off before he destroyed everything.

Santa Guise, Argent Adept, Mr. Fixer, Greatest Legacy, and Freedom Six Tempest beat Advanced Apostate in Time Cataclysm. To our disappointment, there was no Fixed Point for a Fixer Gift-mas to abuse.
Team Leader Tachyon, Ra, Chrono-Ranger, Greatest Legacy, and Guise beat Deadline in Atlantis, shredding his entire health pool over the course of a single round's worth of attacks and Blatant References.
Santa Guise, Team Leader Tachyon, Mr. Fixer, Greatest Legacy, and Unity beat Miss Information in Time Cataclysm, ending with a 10-card Gift-mas that won the game on Guise's first turn after the flip.

Citizen Dawn was raiding The Block, hoping to recruit some of the prisoners there to join the Citizens of the Dawn. Dark Watch Expatriette gathered Darkwatch Mr. Fixer, Absolute Zero and the Dark Visionary to stop here, and while her powers and followers multiplied, and Expatriette fell to Citizen Winter, the rest of the heroes whittled Dawn down until she was taken out during a riot as Char blasted everything he saw.
(Also, I've never beaten Dawn without having any ongoing destruction the whole game -- Expat never got her RPG launcher, AZ only got Fueled Freeze after his last turn and DV only got Mental Divergence then, too. Also discovered some neat synergy with DW Fixer and AZ -- destroy his Cryo Chamber -- or any other equipment -- then have AZ pull it back out of the trash for some quick damage/healing)

Grand Warlord Voss tried to invade The Enclave of the Endlings for some new Gene-Bound specimens, but Haka would have none of it. With the Visionary’s help, he rampaged against the alien hordes and took them down…oddly enough, it sometimes seemed like his fists were bullets instead of fists. Tempest and Tachyon helped Jansa keep the Endlings alive.

Guise just wanted to relax on the beach, building sand castles (ignoring those giant triangular ones right next door) and then that mean bully Plague Rat came along and kicked it over! The Scholar sat by drinking mojitos, Greatest Legacy came over to help out Guise, and ra tried to give Plague Rat a tan.

I learned that playing Uh, Yeah, I'm that guy! on someone who has an infection is not a smart play, particularly when everyone already has an infection (it just plays a new card and then is destroyed... I did not see if it went to teh villain trash or not, must check this out).

Through some kind of clerical error, Plague Rat ended up in The Block. Things quickly went south as he infected everyone and caused a riot, but Omnitron-X, Ra, Darkwatch Expatriette and Haka responded to the call for help. The Warden managed to keep the inmates in check, and though all four heroes were infected, a timely Defensive Displacement (and a solid Haka of Restoration) kept the Afflicted Frenzy from wiping them out.

Some kind of karmic mishap launched Kismet into the Time Cataclysm. She tried to use the merged timelines to her advantage, but Chrono Ranger, F6 Absolute Zero, Mr. Fixer, The Scholar of the Infinite and the Argent Adept quickly and easily nicked her Talisman and knocked her right back into The Block.

Voss, reeling from his repeated defeats at the hands of the Earthlings, ventured back in time, hoping to find a population less able to defend itself against his armies. Unfortunately for the warlord, he was pursued to Silver Gulch, 1883 by Captain Cosmic, Fanatic and Ra, who teamed up with Sheriff Pratt to put those alien varmints down.

A combination of vats (and an early Gene-Bound Guard) made Voss's troops and their incursion into the Pike Industrial complex a rough start for Greatest Legacy, Fanatic, DW Expatriette and Scholar of the Infinite, and for a while it seemed the heroes would be outnumbered and overwhelmed. Fortunately, GL was able to help Expatriette Aim, Inspired the team with his Presence, and the toxic vats boosted all damage, with no explosions, even. A long, but not difficult, victory (and Flawless, at that).

Voss began his invasion by going after the weapons caches in the Wagner Mars Base. Young Legacy, the Argent Adept and Expatriette were there to stop him, despite extremely pervasive red dust clogging up their equipment.
I rarely use vanilla Expatriette in the video game, and this runthrough reminded me why. With DW Expat, I build my whole strategy around using her base power and try to contrive as many uses of Aim as I can. I have managed turns where she's got a +4 on all her attacks.
This was a long game, and I used Load once.

Citizen Dawn traveled to Silver Gulch 1883, in the hopes of kickstarting her revolution a century early. The best hero ever, of course, was there to stop her, and brought along Visionary, Mr. Fixer, Unity and Omnitron-U to watch. Guise finished her off by nicking Fixer's crowbars and wiring them with volatile jumper cables, letting loose when his Ongoings destroyed themselves for the win.

A rough one for Sky-Scraper, thanks to an ill-timed Thorathian Monolith, which left her in the single digits for most of the game. Lucky for her that Unity was there, as her bots were able to draw the lowest-HP-target fire and her trio of Raptor Bots won the day.

Game 1: Akash'bhuta found her way back to Silver Gulch. SS Tachyon and Unity teamed up with some cowboy named Jim to try and take her down, but after a couple hits against a pair of wagons filled with dynamite, there was no hope.
Game 2: Omnitron-X got a chance to take down his nemesis with the help of the Younger Legacy and some guy who kept handing out gifts but telling them not to open them just yet. After a long fight, a splash of chemicals ruined Omnitron's processors and the mechanical nightmare went down.

Today I discovered/reinforced that Captain Cosmic does not like the Dok Thorath Capital very much, nor does he like sedative flechettes. Also, throwing all the terrible cards at the bottom of Omnitron's deck doesn't work out so well when you don't have a lot of damage and he ends up playing through the whole deck.
Narrow victory, with Sky-Scraper down, Dark Visionary at 3 and Captain Cosmic at 4, thanks to some really tricky deck manipulation, very careful target picking, and an extremely fortuitous Wrest the Mind right to the very end.

A randomized start set Legacy, DW Fixer, Tempest and Sky-Scraper against Iron Legacy in The Block and dang was it a rough one. Compulsion Cannister was the MVP, turning Iron Legacy's own buffs against him, and letting Mr. Fixer and his Dual Crowbars get in a nearly-suicidal pair of really solid shots right before he went down, doing just enough damage for Tempest to finish the job.

Baron Blade tried to get the secrets of Omnitron-IV, only to be stopped by Omnitron-U, Chrono Ranger, F6 Absolute Zero, Rook City Wraith and Haka. This was a little tricky, since BB has a ton of devices and OIV kept playing the environment card that puts Devices back in play; luckily it also puts Equipment from the trash into play, so pretty soon I was able to game the system (turns out when that card's out, Chrono Ranger's "Just Doin' My Job" becomes a fantastic play).
Next, Ambuscade hit Pike Industrial, no doubt intent on supplementing his own ill-gotten powers with the experiments there, Unity, Guise, Tempest and Nightmist put a stop to that.

Though everyone ended at or near full HP (Dynamic Syphon + Cleansing Downpour + Gaussian Coil Blaster = Lots and lots of healing), it was rough thanks to an early Citizen Truth (Sent into the Stratosphere, then Time-shifted into the trash), and Dawn flipping thanks to an environment play while Sweat and Tears were out... and then playing a Blinding Blast. It was smooth sailing once she flipped back, though.

Akash’bhuta tried to expand her influence to Mars, and the Argent Adept wanted her stopped. So, Tachyon volunteered the use of her Mars Base, bringing Fanatic and Bunker along with her. Bunker and the Adept set up quickly, but Akash’bhuta threw her entropic powers down and the rusty ground erupted in…well, all her primeval limbs. Between meteor storms and Tachyon’s desperate hypersonic assaults, the heroes barely held on. Bunker blasted external combustion for two turns straight, incinerating all the limbs and driving the villain back. She fell to a 29-point hit of wrathful retribution!

They proved to be the deciding factor, as, thanks to Vernal Sonatas, they were able to Grappling Hook and Locomotion Deadline's Catastrophes while Nightmist Mistbound him, resulting in not one single Endling being removed from the game.

Baron Blade seeded the Mars base with bombs, but thanks to Team Leader Tachyon, Nightmist, Dark Visionary and Greatest Legacy, he barely managed to do any damage.

In a match that wound up running about 2 hours in the app, Omnitron-X, DW NightMist, Visionary, Sky-scraper, and Horus Ra defeat Advanced La Captain at Rook City. Telokenetic Cacoon was the star it probably prevented around 300 damage over the course of the game. Also fun was pairing DW NightMist’s incap to put the top card of a trash on top of its deck with Time Shift.

In a game of heroes who aren't typically the damagers Legacy, Argent Adept, and Visionary defeated Ambuscade at Temple of Zhu Long. I'm pretty sure it wasn't until the fourth round that I actually destroyed any of his devices. While this team was pretty healthy at the end I'm not sure how confident I'd feel about them taking on many villains without using one or two variants.

The Gloomweaver was stirring up trouble in the Realm of Discord, and Legacy, The Argent Adept and Nightmist went to stop him. It was a slow-build game, and one of the few I refrained from Galvanizing for the first few turns, but once everyone was set up, Nightmist was able to go on a goshdarn full-blown rampage between her Elder Ring, the Nemesis bonus, Galvanize, Inspiring Presence, and Argent Adept stacking her deck. She basically couldn't take any kind of action without sending at least 5 damage at Gloomy.

I decided I wanted a pure damage race, so Chrono Ranger, Fanatic, Ra, Haka and Mr. Fixer took on Plague Rat in Insula Primalis. I think about the only time someone did something besides smacking the rat was decking the Pterosaur so it didn't break our stuff. Ended up being one of the easiest wins against the rat I've ever played, in part because it managed to play nothing but ongoings.

Decided to do a theme game, of Redeemer Fanatic rescuing Ra, Horus of Two Horizons from the Ennead at the Temple of Anubis (and Argent Adept there because the app doesn't let you do two characters). It was a close game, and Ra ended up playing his staff three times just to heal, but they pulled it off thanks to a timely Divine Sacrifice keeping the heat (HA!) off Ra for one last turn.

Skinwalker Gloomweaver tried to get a foothold at Pike Industrial, only for Legacy, The Wraith and Haka to put a crimp in his plans. Probably the first game I've ever played Enduring Intercession on purpose, and between Ta Moto and the Mega Computers, it more or less neutralized the environment entirely. And then Haka ate the cultists and zombies and a few rats, and poured 31 cards into Haka of Battle for an obscene final blow.

Plague Rat was the latest addition to the sideshows at Madam Mittermier's when he went on a rampage only stopped by Setback, Bunker, Prime Warden Captain Cosmic and The Naturalist.
Unfortunately Cosmic Omnitron managed to demolish most of Megaopolis when it took down Xtreme Prime Wardens Haka, Chrono-Ranger, Best of Times, Nightmist and Termi-Nation Absolute Zero.
Citizen Dawn was prevented from taking over Rook City by Completionist Guise, The Naturalist, Setback and Prime Warden Tempest.
And Ambuscade's lastest hunting trip to The Final Wasteland was stopped by Chrono-Ranger, The Hunted Naturalist, Freedom Five Bunker and Termi-Nation Unity.

Plague Rat was hanging out with his decendants in the Final Wasteland, so Freedom Tempest, Mr. Fixer, Absolute Zero, and Scholar worked together to take him down.
Fixer got Driving Mantis and Jack Handle almost immediately, and it took several rounds for an Infection to come out. Piece of cake.

Sky Scraper, Fanatic, Argent Adept and Haka foiled Baron Blade's plans in the Ruins of Atlantis. This despite two Devious Disruptions, only blunted each time by a single Rebounding Debilitator, which saved first Argent Adept and then Sky-Scraper from heavy damage. Thankfully after the first time, Fanatic and Argent Adept were able to do a group heal with Phosphorescent Chamber out, and AA's diligent healing the rest of the game got the team ready for the second one. Finally, a Haka of Battle'd Crush didn't quite take out Blade, but left him with low enough HP that the environment finished the job (a Kraken tentacle and two Ancient Defenses were already out, but Hallway Collapse beat them all to it; I prefer to think it was caused by Haka's massive blow).

Last night, we had Unleashed Visionary, Setting Sun Ra, Rogue Agent KNYFE, and Fugue State Parse defeat Infinitor in the Court of Blood.
Parse got two copies of Exploit Vulnerability in play on her first turn, so pretty much all the manifestations were irrelevant after they appeared. Infinitor never flipped.
Now the only new variants we haven’t played with are Freedom Five Wraith and Completionist Guise.

AA discards a card to use a power thanks to Augmented Ally… uses Xu’s Bell to reduce damage to Tempest and Fanatic and allow Tempest to get Vicious Cyclone into play. Aa plays instrumental conjuration to get his Lyra. Then AA uses Lyra to allow Fanatic to trigger Dynamic Syphon on Tempest. Tempest uses squall and Localized Hurricane. Spite damages Tempest and Fanatic triggering 2 wounding buffers. Then AA uses his accompany to let Fanatic play Smite the transgressor to use Cosmic Weapon.
In the end Prime Wardens defeat Advanced Spite at Omnitron IV after about 2.5 hours!

Every environment card ended up out by the end of the game, then Setback destroyed the maze of mirrors and everything went downhill. Progeny took an absurd amout of damage with four unstable midway damage, a hit from You Won't Believe Your Eyes, and he was done

The Matriarch was causing havoc in Magmaria. Fortunatly Super Science Tachyon, Haka, and Completionist Guise were there to stop her.
In the end Freedom Five Tachyon, Eternal Haka, and Completionist Guise managed to emerge from battle victorious.

A trio of games, progressing from "easy and manageable," to "Good lord, that was close."
First, Voss ended up in the Final Wasteland, with F6 Wraith, Guise, Visionary, Tempest and Ra there to whip his tail.
Voss then headed to the Temple of Anubis and found Argent Adept, Fanatic, Visionary and Chrono Ranger in tow. A couple of nasty Forced Deployments made this one interesting, and Chrono Ranger ended up with only 6 HP left, thanks to having Hunter and Hunted out for a couple rounds.
Finally, Apostate descended on Megalopolis and traded blows with Omnitron-U, Chrono Ranger and Captain Cosmic. A really badly timed visit from the paparazzi kept the team from preventing an Apocalypse and they had to struggle back to win, forcing him to flip in order to get the Runes of Malediction off the board. Most tragically, Chrono Ranger spent nearly the whole game without his hat.

AZ, Young Legacy, F6 Bunker, Eternal Haka, and Freedom Wraith dove underwater to deal with an Advanced Matriarch in the Ruins of Atlantis.
It started out pretty easy. Legacy had Fortitude and Lead from the Front quickly, and spent a great deal of time tanking damage. Huginn came out quickly, but Munnin did not, and she had opened with one of her Horrid Cacophonies before we'd played anything, so we got set up for beat downs without problem. And then a Ground Pound - Internal Combustion boardwipe combo was interupted by a Leaking Room (Bunker was before Haka, you see), and things started going to hell. The Leaking Room was followed by a Horrid Cacophony which wiped our defenses, and then a Phosphorescent Chamber on the next round, which dropped our health from the 20s to single digits across the board. We almost won that round, but Haka of Battle isn't much use without a damaging power, which Eternal Haka lacked. So I held on a Rampage and prayed Haka could survive until the next round. And then the environment played Mystical Defenses. Which wiped the birdies, and started dishing out damage to us. And we didn't have Lead from the Front anymore to protect us. Fortunately, we did have Smoke Bombs, and enough equipment hanging around to avoid the Matriarch's damage. So everyone was brought down to 6 hp, where we stayed as everyone was simultaneously the lowest hp. (Which, incidentally, takes a ridiculously long time to resolve. For every bird destroyed, for each Carrion Field, I had to first pick the highest hp. Then I had to "choose for me" the order the rest would be damaged. Then I had to, for four heroes, agree that that hero was the lowest hp, and then pick the "highest hp" hero. That's 10 choices per carrion field, or 20 choices per dying bird, or about 200 choices overall.)
Finally I survived the environment turn. Matriarch's turn was mercifully boring, and I passed along to Haka, who rampaged over her face to victory.

The Ennead showed up in Silver Gulch, 1883 and confronted DW Mr. Fixer, Chrono Ranger and Team Leader Tachyon. Once again, Set's incapacitated flailing was their undoing, as it revealed a 16-point Hyperspeed Barrage that clobbered the last Ennead member standing.

Argent Adept, Greatest Legacy and Dark Visionary took on Akash'Bhuta in Insula Primalis (this was mainly me seeing how well AA would do if he had to be the main damage dealer -- and, ironically, Legacy and DV both started with three of their damaging cards. Turns out a game where AA has to do all the leg-work is a long game, so I also found a neat use for Brain Burn -- restoring all the less-harmful cards to Akash's deck so she doesn't have to rapid-fire all her equipment and ongoing destruction that I sent to the bottom).
Then the Ennead attacked Ra, Tempest, DV Expatriette and Chrono Ranger on Insula Primalis, and the heroes sat back and laughed while a volcano did most of the work for them.

680: I ran SotM weekly meetup last night. While waiting for people to arrive, played on the app Ambuscade on Advanced in Time Cata with SS Tach, Eternal Haka, Chrono-Ranger and Sky-Scraper. We beat the bricks off of him.
681: That was a warmup. I played the game in person, then: Adv. Amuscade in Insula Primalis with Haka, Visionary, Scholar of the Infinite and DW Mr. Fixer. It was the closest game I’ve ever seen versus Ambuscade, and we almost lost. Scholar and Haka were the lone survivors, although prior to his death, Mr. Fixer (who was at 1HP for like three rounds in a row) was arguably MVP.
682: Then we faced off vs. Akash’Bhuta in a mixed environment (from the Story Challenges, which all of these are from), which was a combination of the absolute worst cards of Insula Primalis, Tomb of Anubis, Time Cataclysm, Pike Industries and Rook City. Our team was Young Legacy, PW Argent Adept, PW Fanatic and PW Tempest. This was touch and go a few times, and Akash at one point had every limb in her deck in play (whaaaaat) thanks to three chained Primeval Eruptions - the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life - but it worked itself out and we were victorious, by a wide and triumphant margin. PW Tempest and PW AA’s engines were insane-- Tempest’s Start of Turn looked like a late-game Omnitron X and AA had every instrument and most of his ongoings in play (including duplicates). That said, the game would not have been so well-off had it not been for YL endlessly taking missiles to the chest, which freed Fanatic and Tempest to use their innate powers to help everyone setup rapidly. Good game.
Team Leader Tachyon, F6 Bunker and Beard Ra took on Gloomweaver at Wagner Mars Base, and the single-digit-HP finishes reminded me that Gloomweaver can occasionally prove a challenge. In the end, an Imbued Fire and Flesh of the Sun God made the difference as the heroes let the biosphere burn before Bunker Omni-Cannoned Gloomweaver back to the Realm of Discord.

AA plays Silver Shadow to let Fanatic play Consecrated Ground to destroy Paparazzi. Haka draws a card from diminion. Consecrated Ground triggers a dynamic Syphon on AA. AA uses bell to boost Tempest and Fanatic damage. Then grants Tempest a play. Then with Lyra grants Tempest a power, and Fanatic a play.

Argent Adept, Dark Visionary and Nightmist had a heap of trouble with Citizen Dawn in Insula Primalis, but eked out a victory with AA the only survivor at 2 HP. I was about to restart when I figured I'd play it through, and a few lucky draws and a last-minute barage of Frost and Flame barely managed to finish her off.
... and I just realized if I hadn't gotten rid of one of the Obsidian Fields, I would've gotten "That was Close!" Darn.

Absolute Zero, Chrono Ranger, Young Legacy and Mr. Fixer took on Apostate in the Final Wasteland, and it was looking rough since he opened with a Profane Summons that brought out the Orb of Delirium, Runes of Malediction and Tome of the Unknowable. And then the Library came out. Luckily, I did manage to get a Takedown in hand before things went totally nuts, and that let the heroes get ahead of the game and bounce Apostate down to 0 to get rid of the Tome, while Mr. Fixer's irreducible crowbars made short work of the other relics until an Abominable Snowman finished Apostate.

A random game - Deadline traced the ley-lines to Egypt and traveled there to take possession of an ancient weapon against evil. Fortunately, Tempest had hidden some powerful elemental stones within his body and brought them to the tomb. Nightmist’s arcane knowledge and Wraith’s technology came to bear on the existential threat, with G.I. Bunker acting as bodyguard. America’s Newest Legacy finally seized the weapon and vaporized Deadline with energy beams streaming from her eyes. Super green!

The Citizens of the Sun have decided to colonize the Time Cataclysm. Fortunately for us, Capitan Cosmic, Mr. Fixer, Guise, Freedom Tempest, and Haka were there to stop crush them.
It turns out that Guise the Barbarian + Blatant Reference + Dual Crowbars + 2 Autonomous Blades does a great deal of damage in a very short period of time. Who would have thought?

While writing this post, "citizen" stopped looking like a word to me. It's mostly back now, but it was a very wierd feeling.
Kind of an interesting game when The Wraith, Captain Cosmic, Mr. Fixer, Tempest and Unity took on the Ennead in the Enclave of the Endlings. Because of an early equipment wipe, Wraith didn't do a single point of damage all game; Captain Cosmic only managed to get four constructs out; and the only Bot Unity got out was played by Slamara, then subsequently wiped out the next turn by The Grave Beckons.
Cosmic Weapon + Riveting Crane + Cleansing Downpour + Dynamic Syphons on Mr. Fixer and Tempest (plus an Hasty Augmentation or two) made Nuit and most global damage a non-issue and routed the Ennead in short order.

Haka was the last hero standing and was down to 1 HP there were 5 members of the Ennead still standing all near full Health. I decided to play it ou. It was a nail biter the whole way. I managed to use the Wagner Mars Base’s tendency to have ways of destroying environment cards to trigger triple dominion for massive draw… even Villainous Weaponry worked in my favor since the Ennead destroy the non-character target with the lowest HP each round. 6 Haka of Battle’s (and about 90 minutes of playtime) later and victory was mine.

The Freedom Five were busy tonight.
First game was against Advanced Mad Bomber Blade at Pike Industrial. The F5 were able to dodge nearly all of the front side's damage ramp, and the back fell like a chump.
Second game was Advanced Challenge Omnitron in Megalopolis. Had a couple untimely One-Shots, but kept him mostly under control. The "Challenge" component was never actually relevant because Omni didn't draw enough Components. *shrug*
Finally, Omnitron-II at Freedom Tower. By far the closest match of my F5 tour-of-duty so far, with only AZ above 10 HP. Won almost entirely due to two Hypersonics, a Throat Jab, and an Interception shutting off the Dropship's lasers for four (non-consecutive) rounds, followed by an eleventh-hour Inspiring Presence that helped Tachyon blow away the last third of O2's HP.

I just had the most straightforward game I’ve ever played against the Matriarch, in Megalopolis. Expatriette, Mister Fixer, Tempest, Haka, and Elemental Wrath Absolute Zero defeated her easily. Her opening move was Huginn + Muginn, and I was immediately able to destroy the mask and knock one of the Cohorts Into the Stratosphere, so her first few rounds against the heroes were almost ineffectual.

Chrono-Ranger led a team with Nightmist, Santa Guise, and Haka to capture Citizen Dawn in her lair on Insula Primalis. They brought her to justice.

Setback, Nightmist, DW Expatriette, Mr. Fixer and Dark Visionary took on Voss in Megalopolis and sent the alien warlord packing. Fixer tanked with Driving Mantis and his Wrench, while Visionary twisted Nightmist's and Voss's ethers and, once the ships were knocked to the bottom of Voss's deck, she kept any hostage situations from breaking out. Setback accidentally got two High Risk Behaviors out, which ended up with him clubbing Voss for 16 HP in his last turn (one Exceeded Expectations with 6 unlucky tokens, then using the power on Looking Up) before his girlfriend finished him off.

Team Leader Tachyon was probably wondering how she ended up having to babysit -- er, partner with both Setback and Guise, but in the end, they easily handed Ambuscade his rear in the Final Wasteland. It's neat how Guise can take temporary advantage of unlucky tokens -- and not have to worry about a big amount of them sitting in his pool most of the time.

Old college friend got Sentinels digitally (base game, another friend gifted him mini-pack 1), so we got on Skype and played a couple games to teach him how to play.
Baron Blade is trying to bring down the moon in Insula Primalis! Luckily, Grandpa Legacy, Tachyon, and Absolute Zero were there to teach the volcano how to chill. (First game I've played with Zero that he started with Isothermic Transducer, Focused Apertures, Cold Snap, and drew into Null-Point Calibration Unit and Thermal Shockwave within the first few turns. That game was insane.)
Then, Ambuscade wanted a shootout in Silver Gulch. Unity, Bunker: Engine of War, and The Wraith were happy to oblige him.
Finally, Fanatic, Wraith, and Ra failed to stop Grand Warlord Voss from Invading from the Ruins of Atlantis after he discovered the Pillars of Hercules and got out the majority of his deck. However, with an End of Days, Fanatic went down with a bang...taking out all of Voss's ground troops, both starships, his Quark translocators, and the Pillars in one final Blast...
Ra was really impressed.

Setback, Young Legacy and Dark Visionary took on the Ennead at Wagner Mars Base. Nobody had or drew any equipment cards, so the red dust was harmless, and it was a fairly simple win, and fun to unload a Looking Up with High Risk Behavior buffing it by +6 (and then Silver Lining Setback to 20 HP when the Ennead returned the favor).

Setback was just minding his own business in Megalopolis when Apostate showed up, brawling with the Scholar, Sky-Scraper, Captain Cosmic and Dark Visionary. I am learning to love doubling-up on High Risk Behavior; if you can keep Setback out of the highest and lowest HP spots (and avoid global villain damage), he's nuts. Chrono Ranger's the only one who can keep up with buffs like that, and even he has an upper limit.

Did I mention I got my mom way hooked on Sentinels? Because she keeps asking to play every night. :V Tempest, Haka and the Naturalist took on Akash'Bhuta in the Realm of Discord. It was a perfect example of a fun, easy Akash fight. By the end, thanks to Preadtor's Eye and Vicious Cyclone, Tempest dealt ludicrous amounts of damage and finished Mother Nature off. That's what you get for turning me into a crocodile, you witch!

Thanks to some good luck and lots of planning I managed to defeat Advanced Gloom Spite with the Prime Wardens at Pike Industrial Complex after only 1 failed attempt.
This is another increadabily difficult set up! I think if I played this setup 100 times i’d probably win under 20% of the time (I’d also hate myself).

What made that matchup so rough?
Victory against advanced Omnitron with the help of the freedom five in silver gulch, Tachyon ended with two lightspeed barrages for 30 damage.

That team uses multiple powers per turn often, has few ways of playing more than 1 Ongoing or equipment card in 1 turn to get ahead of the return to hand effect, has only 1 card that can prevent damage for a round and has trouble with the damage reduction.
Nevermind I had read Gloomweaver initally not Spite. I could see the issues with that version especially with that drug that deals damage on power use.

Setback, Ra, Omnitron-X and Sky-Scraper found themselves in the Final Wasteland (Setback's fault) facing Gloomweaver's cult (also Setback's fault). After a rough start, an ill-timed Plating switch that ended up wiping OX's Components and a Vast Following bringing a relic back, Setback saw his Silver Lining and Ra finally had enough of all the monsters crowding about. It's not often I get to see a 10-HP Scorched Earth, but it is always glorious. It was a total board wipe and put Gloomweaver in range for OX to finish him off.
(Also, Defensive Blast is annoying to use on a large field when Friendly Fire is out -- I must've hit "no" 20 times).

Team Leader Tachyon wasn't sure how exactly she got roped into chaperoning DW Expatriette and Setback on their date. You'd think the quickest woman on Earth could get out of anything, but some things even she can't escape. Fortunately, before things could get even more awkward, she caught a break when Voss invaded and they were called to The Block to keep him from abducting the inmates. She was able to vent her frustrations over being saddled with the love birds by unloading three Hyperspeed Barrages into Voss's face, and she felt much better afterward.

Apostate attacked the Temple of Zhu Long, intent on finding out its secrets. Sky-Scraper, Scholar of the Infinite and Chrono Ranger -- with the help of the temple's Mysterious Ceremonies -- put a stop to his plans, and two Shinobi Assassins perched on Scholar's Deck delivered the finishing blows.

First time playing the physical game, and it turned into a lengthy and exciting battle.
Setback, Bunker and the Sentinels took on Gloomweaver and his cult in the Realm of Discord. An early Pouch of Bones and a Vast Following the turn after we destroyed it made it hard for anything to stick (the Profane Zealots didn't help, either) and we spent most of our time just keeping the zombies and cultists at bay thanks to Time Flies -- unfortunately, also thanks to Time Flies, the other two Relics quickly made it out and Gloomweaver flipped. Fortunately by this point, everyone was pretty well set up -- all four Signatures were out, as well as Looking Up, High-Risk Behavior and Silver Lining and Bunker had been reaping obscene amounts of cards thanks to Ammo Drops the whole game.
Writhe's signature got a lot of use. It turns out if Setback is one of the heroes in a 3-H game, Writhe and Mainstay end up as highest HP PDQ (and thanks to their signatures and Dr. Medico, they can stay there a long time). It let Setback keep being High Risky (at one point he had a +4) and kept Gloomweaver punching himself via pins. Things finally broke out for us when -- after the last Vast Following was in the trash -- we killed the Pouch of Bones and we combined for about 50 damage in one round (Yay, Omni-Cannon), Silver-Lining'd Setback to highest HP (he had so many tokens that even with Gloomy's damage reduced to 0, it killed Setback), and finally put Gloomweaver down.
It took us close to two hours, but it was a great time.

Setback, Haka and Bunker got stomped by Citizen Dawn in the Temple of Zhu Long, so they set up for a rematch... and almost got stomped. Setback had to be revived twice (once from Silver Lining, once by the environment), and the last couple rounds were Haka furiously Ground Pounding and reaping Dominion draws until he had enough to finish Dawn off with a Haka of Battle.

The Dark Watch team is full of redirection synergy. Crowbar to 1 target, then to Nightmist with an amulet. Jack Handle Setback with multiple Friendly Fires. RPG Launcher a target and Nightmist. Oblivion of 2 or less with Driving Mantis and Wrong Time and Place in play. Your team takes nothing and someone gets targeted for huge damage. Expatriette may seem like the least synergistic, but she has the easiest time feeding Setback's "Whoops! Sorry!", although Mr. Fixer can, too, with Tool Box and Bloody Knuckles.
Their Dark Watch promos are a bit harder to deal with. The best here is DW Expatriette, followed by DW Fixer. DW Setback is great with no tokens (but leaves you token starved) or with lots of tokens and no other ongoings. Plays slower but a bit more predictable and safe. Otherwise his other ongoings eclipse things. DW Nightmist is great for setting up her spells for the next turn, but otherwise is better off using Tome of Magic (or whatever it's called) for the extra card each round if using either of her amulets.

Anyway, Chokepoint took on Chrono Ranger, The Wraith, Sky-Scraper, Ra and Haka in The Block and got her butt kicked.
Then the Ennead faced Ra, GI Bunker, Scholar and Setback in the Temple of Anubis. With Ra leading the charge, it was a fast and easy win.

(I blame Ambuscade pulling all four damaging Nemeses on the first turn, combined with Miss Information opening with A World Improved > Naturalist has to skip his turn > Deja Vu > A World Improved > Tempest has to skip his turn.)

966: (all Base) Ra, The Naturalist, Parse and Fanatic versus Apostate in Megalopolis. He got decimated very, very capably. Environment far more trouble than Apostate.
967: Legacy, SS Tachyon, Captain Cosmic, vs Kaargra Warfang in Freedom Tower. SS Tachyon got Chaos Lord on her first turn, and then got Reckless while on Kaargra's turn, then got The Seeker and The Indiscriminate on her next turn. Tachyon became a true force to behold, it was awe-inspiring. She also had on her a CC Energy Bracer that had Stonejaw, giving her play area five titles. She played twelve cards in one round, at one point. She cleared the entire field, and then, with us at 17 points in the Coliseum, she nuked Kaargra with a Lightspeed Barrage with 18 Bursts. That got us two points, putting us at 19! ...and flipped Kaargra over, with no gladiators, so Kaargra came back out at 40 HP again. We ended up losing with 31 victory points, and Tachyon was undoubtedly the Albatross of our game.

(Answer: It was Tachyon playing a 13-point Lightspeed Barrage off Don't Dismiss Anything.)

This was the most exquisite Blade loss I have ever suffered.
His first play is Consider the Price of Victory. We end the first round with 9 cards in his trash. The F5 flail miserably for a round. Blade does more stuff: 12 cards.
We had one more round, and our strategy was literally "Pillars of Hercules is out, let's see if we can get him to shuffle his trash into his deck". The Terralunar Impulsion Beam activated with 1 card left in his deck. So close. D: It was greuling and amazing and terrible.

Well my attempt of the baron blade fight endend with a loss, he started with 2 mobile defense platforms and none of my heroes had any starting damage output so it was a pretty short match.
My victory lap ended better than expected. He got two Mobile Defense Platforms out and a Leaking Room came out between us and the flip; he was at 18 discards when I flipped him, only because I took the 13 damage hit from Devious Disruption so that it could be (in Tachyon's case) redirected to him via Synaptic Interruption. Worth it.
Flipped him, then spanked him.
Did a victory lap with the F5 vs. Advanced Blade in Atlantis. Environment was benign, and none of Baron's really bad cards ever came out, so it was a fairly easy win. Helps that Legacy started with Inspiring Presence in hand, so everyone was doing obscene damage every turn. Bunker only got one of his damaging powers out last turn, spending the rest of the time gluing down the environment and setting things on fire. Didn't even need Infrared Eyepiece.
