i visit Serenes Forest (A Fire Emblem site) a bit, and one of the ways FE fans play the game is a draft: As in a group of players take turns picking the characters they are allowed to use during the game, and no other, and then see who can beat the game in the least amount of turns.

Well, today at work, I had an idea: Why not have a Sentinels of the Multiverse draft? I know that noone else has probably done something like this for Sentinels, but every journey starts with a single step.

Rules of the Draft:

 1. This draft is for five players.
 2. There will be four rounds during the draft.
 3. Starting with the player who goes first, each player will choose one of the available heroes, for their team. That hero will be used during the game, and cannot be drafted by another player.
 4. The player who drafts last in the previous round drafts first in the next round.
 5. You may use the digital version

Gameplay and Scoring
5) After each player drafts the heroes for their team, they will play four rounds of Sentinels of the Multiverse, using only those the heroes they drafted for their team. The Villains/Environment will be chosen before the draft starts.
5.A) For now, no promos.
6) The order of which heroes play may be changed between games. The order you face the villains cannot.
7) When the game is over, you will score yourself based on how well you did.

 • Villain: With some exceptions (cough cough Dreamer) A Villain is worth points equal to their Max HP minus the HP they had at the end of the game. For example: Ambuscade has 50 HP. If they heroes defeat him, 50 (max) minus 0 (the Hp he has at the end) will equal a score of 50. If they fail, but manage to get him down to 15 HP left, then they score 35 points (50-15=35).
 • Heroes: For each hero that survives the battle (i.e. Not incapped), you score points equal to half of their HP, rounded down.
 1. At the end of your games, combine each rounds scores together. The winner is the player who has the most points.

Here is an example of how a round is scored

Abigail is in the draft, drafting Legacy, Ra, Visionary, and The Naturalist. The first round is against Baron Blade. Through a tough fight, Abigail and takes Blade down to 0 HP. Legacy falls, but Ra has 14 HP, Visionary 13 HP and Naaturalist 20.

Since the highest amount of HP Blade has is 70 (40 for front side, 30 for back), Abigail scores the full amount. For her heroes, since Legacy was incapped, he scores no points, but the other three score half of their HP rounded down, scoring 7, 6, and 10 points respectfully, resulting in 23 points. For this round, she has scored 93 points.

So, for the first draft, lets make our villain lineup easy: When you play, the villains you will face (in this order) will be:

Round 1) Baron Blade at Megaopolis
Round 2) Citizen Dawn at Insula Primalis
Round 3) Grand Warlord Voss at Wagner Mars Base
Round 4) Omnitron at Silver Gultch

For scroing reasons, Baron Blade’s max HP is 70

Hopefully we will be able to find and work out the kinks of the rulesset. Anyone interested?

Only usually get a chance to play digital, so I don’t think I’ll be joining since a lot of my favorites aren’t in yet, but I wish everyone luck, and would love to try again when season 2 is complete!

I'll give it a go.   Though I'll likely only choose heroes in the video game currently since that is easier to get setup without tiny hands messing things up

Instead of points based on villain HP, how about points scored based on the difficulty rating of the villains defeated? Otherwise you're saying Akash'Bhuta is 6x as tough as Iron Legacy, basically.

For Akash, I was thinking that since she has so much HP, that she’s only worth a max of 100 points instead, which is half of her max. So every 2 Hp = 1 point.

It may take a while to get out the kinks.

If I'm understanding correctly then sure, I'd default to the video game if I can though (makes life so much easier)

Now, if I understand correctly: (shortening names) Myself, Meerkat, Powerhound and King will do a round robin of choosing heroes. I pick Legacy, king picks Ra, Meerkat picks someone ect, until everyone has a team of 5 people, and no one has any duplicates.

Then we each play through the matches presented individually when we have time, scoring points as you listed out, and then present our totals for each match. "Winner" of the round is the person with the most points from the 4 matches.

Am I close to the mark? And, just realizing, I'll be at Gencon for a lot of next week so that would delay my ability to get through matches if this continues past that point.

Edit: Counting the hp for the SW Sentinels? If memory serves me they have about 50-60 hp between all 4 heroes, making them a huge boon to anyone who picks them for their team, since they will be worth so many points compared to other heroes.

Close. We will have five player with four heroes each. Then you play four games with your team of heroes and score each match. The person who get the highest score after combining each round’s result is the winner.

As for the Sentinels, instead of half, lets try a quarter? I kind wanted HP to matter in scoring.

As for time, you can take your time, but try not to delay.

Sounds good, I understand wanting hp to matter, it was just that they are so high as a group, that they become an auto pick to a degree. If your choices in the draft matter more than your play in terms of scoring it gets a bit funky. Personally I was thinking 1/3 of their hp, harder math but still lets their bigger hp shine since they also are more vulnerable to AOE which was part of their design. But it's not like this is a grand tournament or anything, more just goofing around.

When do we start picking heroes?

Sounds great. Chaosmancer, I assume you are in, if not please tell me and we can fix that. Now I’m going ot put our names into a randomizer to determine draft order. Stay tuned!

I also forgot to actually ex[lain what a snake order draft is: Basicaly each round draft order is reversed, so it will go A,B,C,D,E,E,D,C,B,A, etc.

Just to make it clear, Rounds 2 and 4 are reversed, so I pick first during those rounds and BHMerkat picks last in those round. And with that, LET THE DRAFTING COMMENCE

Dang it, this is where limiting myself to the app is hurting a bit. I think I have to go with Fanatic. This was a much harder decision than I thought it would be...

Powerhound: Guise, Tachyon, Nightmist, and Haka

KingofSouls: Tempest, Sky-scraper, Captain Cosmic and The Argent Adept

LordFlashFire: Ra, Unity, Omnitron-X,

BlueHairedMeerkat: Legacy, Chrono-Ranger, The Sentinels

Am I good to go ahead and begin the matches, or should I wait until everyone has finished their selections?

Well, Powerhound fared much better than I. My score-99 or 100, based on whether or not we add up the hero total before dividing. 14-15-15-16. As for Powerhound, your score is 122 or 123.

I did not do so hot. I was good for the baron. Dawn was rough, but she always is. Then I had some of the worst draws for Voss and Omnitron. Voss opened with a bunch of hounds and worms, with Forced Deployment... followed next turn by another Forced Deployment. Omnitron was actually going amazing, until I took a small risk self damaging heroes for extra powers, and he tech singularitied the wraith from nearly full to almost dead.

Anyways, full breakdown of my games with totals (Sorry for throwing all this in before BlueHairedMeerkat has picked their final hero, but games on the app are quick)

Baron Blade @ Megalopolis -> Final hp -8, for 70 pts

The Wraith: 18 hp for 9 pts

Fanatic: 17 hp for 8 pts

The Scholar: 28 hp for 14 pts

Mr. Fixer: 20 hp for 10 pts

Round Total is 111 points

Citizen Dawn @ Insula Primalis -> Final hp -1 for 80 pts

The Wraith: 13 hp for 6 pts

Mr. Fixer: 15 hp for 7 pts

Fanatic: 17 hp for 8 pts

The Scholar: 25 hp for 12 pts

Round Total is 113 points

Grand Warlord Voss @ Wagner Mars Base -> Final hp 0 for 90 pts

The Wraith: 13 hp for 6 pts

Mr. Fixer: 3 hp for 1 pts

Fanatic: 11 hp for 5 pts

The Scholar: 20 hp for 10 pts

Round Total is 112 points

Omnitron @ Silver Gulch -> -1 for 100 pts

The Wraith: 4 hp for 2 pts

Mr. Fixer: 14 hp for 7 pts

Fanatic: 24 hp for 12 pts

The Scholar: 27 hp for 13 pts

Round Total is 134 points

Final Total for all rounds: 470 points

Captian Cosmic was an all star during Baron Blade. TRempest's constant healing was pretty boss as well.

Scoring:

Baron Blade; KOed! Full score of 70.
Captian Cosmic: 18 HP > 9 points.
Tempest: 19 > 9
Sky-Scrapper: 19 > 9
Argent Adept: 19 > 9

106 points for Round one.

Against Citizen Dawn...not so well. We were doing good until Aurua nuked the field and well...

Citizen Dawn: 13 HP left. Score of 67
Captian Cosmic: 0 > 0 points.
Tempest: 0 > 0 points.
Sky-Scrapper: 0 > 0 points.
Argent Adept: 0 > 0 points.

Total: 173

Final pick: Absolute Zero. Let's do this.

Solo Sentinels is fiddly, but man oh man is it worth it for the Sentinels.

Baron Blade: DECEASED - 70pts
Legacy: 32HP - 16pts
Chrono-Ranger: 28HP - 14pts
Sentinels: 13/14/13/11 - 12pts (assuming 1/4 for Sentinels but summing before quartering)
Absolute Zero: 28HP - 14pts

TOTAL: 126pts

Citizen Dawn: DECEASED - 80pts
Legacy: 24HP - 12pts
Chrono-Ranger: 26HP - 13pts
Sentinels: 13/11/13/11 - 12pts
Absolute Zero: 29HP - 14pts

TOTAL: 131pts

Well Voss took the Idealist to 3HP on his first turn, but we turned it around. The Sentinels are the best.

Grand Warlord Voss: DECEASED - 90pts
Legacy: 32HP - 16pts
Chrono-Ranger: 28HP - 14pts
Sentinels: 13/14/14/11 - 13pts
Absolute Zero: 29HP - 14pts

TOTAL: 147pts

So 122 points for the first game. In a victory against Dawn these were my health totals:

Guise - 17 > 8

Haka - 16 > 8

Tachyon - 15 > 7

Nightmist - 27 > 13

So my total for this game was 116

And lastly Omnitron - nothing too frightful.

Omnitron: 0HP - 100pts
Legacy: 32HP - 16pts
Chrono-Ranger: 28HP - 14pts
Sentinels: 10/10/10/11 - 10pts
Absolute Zero: 28HP - 14pts

TOTAL: 154pts

GRAND TOTAL: 558pts

Healers, guys. Healers are the best.

Played in the wrong environment and has to redo my Voss battle.   Didn't fare as well seeing both ships early and AOE damage.

Guise - 17 > 8

Tachyon - incap

Haka - 16 > 8

Nightmist 19 > 9

So my total against Voss was 115

Tachyon fell again against Omnitron due to being targeted by the environment a lot and an exploding wagon didn't help but still victorious:

Guise - 12 > 6

Tachuon - incap

Haka - 22 > 11

Nightmist - 18 > 9

Total points were 126 from this matchup.

Scoring seemed okay for something that is just for fun. So much of this depends on luck.

As for next draft... why not just move down the expansions. Do Plague Rat, Spite, Chairman and Matriarch next, followed by Apostate, Gloomweaver, Ennead (ooh, that's a weird scoring situation) and the Dreamer, ect?

Edit: in recognition of the use of the app, we should probably do Wrath of the Cosmos before we get to the Villains style, and we can also throw in the expansions somewhere

Finally get to finish base game.

Well, I didnt have any of the right cards, and when the SDS came out in turn 5, i went kamikaze. Voss at 14. 66 points.

Omntron went much better. 100+7+3+12+4=126

I think the scoring was fine. Its sort of biased in favor of heavy-healers like Haka of Restoration or The Scholar.
