After a few games on the digital I am in love with the new variant. Never have I been more excited to blow up my own cards than I have with this variant. Kudos to everyone involved on making a fresh variant that upends what used to be Omnitron's biggest drawback in an interesting and fun way.

Me too. Dark Watch Fixer certainly enjoyed being around Omni-U.

That's obvious synergy I missed because I hardly ever use Dark Watch Fixer.

And destroy cards cards (i.e. Dawn's card that shall not be named, as well as EoD) are fun to do as well

Waiit. Maybe.

Works really well with Slip Through Time as well, which I hadn't anticipated.

Also gives gives a boost and purpuse to using disruptive flechettes on yourself as against a villain with no ongoings and no damage reduction can turn in a 10 damage on it if well timed.

Was omni-u supposed to be only with you backed the digital Kickstarter? Because I pushed unlock now and it unlocked for me....

No, it was global to everyone who owns the game and has Shattered Timelines or Season Pass One.

I think the other thing about it is that it is not necessarily better than his base power. It provides solid retribution power and a way to get cards back or play another card. But base Omnitron still has his perks with people like Unity, the Sentinels, Tachyon, Scholar etc. Just great design all around on it.

He also really needs help drawing -- I keep running out of cards for him to play.

By the way, Something I havent seen pointed out yet here: Omni-U's base power plus hasty augmentation effects the damage for every single card that's destroyed... Every. Single. Instance. So if you use that and then play singularity to destroy everything, you get a glorious nuke to end all nukes

That's for an out of turn power, not play phase. Unless some chain with the Argent is legal.

Waiit. Never mind, got it.

I don't know that that works. It's not the power itself that is dealing damage, it's the card destruction.

EDIT: Nope, I'm wrong. I tested it in the video game and provided you play a destruction card during the power it does give the extra +2 damage. it does not do so if the destruction happens after that point.

DOUBLE EDIT: Which seems wonky to me. Either it should deal the extra damage or it should not, it should not matter when the destruction occurs.

TRIPLE EDIT: The uses of the power stacks as well, so using your base power on your turn, Grandpa Legacy's turn and then on Unity with Hasty Augmentation results in 3 lots of 4 damage for each Equipment card destroyed. Which has got to be a bug.

So what would be the max damage you could get out of Omnitron-U with a team of Omnitron-U, Argent Adept, Grandpa Legacy, Unity, and Dark Watch Mister Fixer on round 1?

At first pass I can see Omnitron starting with 4 components.

Omnitron-U: Plays component, Power Volatile wiring to play a second component, Draws another component.

Argent Adept: Plays Inspiring Supertonic, Uses power to give Omnitron-U a power use who uses Volatile Wiring and plays another component, Draws whatever

Grandpa Legacy: Plays Inspiring Presence, Uses power to give Omnitron-U a power use who uses Volatile Wiring and plays another component. Draws whatever

Unity: Plays Hasty Augmentation to have Omnitron-U use Volatile Wiring and he plays his final component. Power: Skip. Draws whatever

Darkwatch Mister Fixer: Plays Dual Crowbars, Power: Bitter Strike hitting Omnitron-U first for 5 damage which then triggers...

Component 1 destroyed -

20 damage to a target (4 instances of 2 damage +1 for inspiring presence +2 for Hasty augmentation)

Component 2 destroyed -

20 damage to a target (see above)

Component 3 destroyed -

20 damage to a target (see above)

Component 4 destroyed -

20 damage to a target (see above)

Component 5 destroyed -

20 damage to a target (see above)

For a total of 100 damage from Omnitron-U and 5 additional damage from Darkwatch Mister Fixer. So 105 damage total before the environment even got a chance to go. That number is based on Hasty Augmentation applying to all instances of Volatile Wiring and not just the instance it triggered.

Is there a team which could have Omnitron-U deal more damage in round 1?

Why would Hasty Augmentation apply to all instances?

It does in the video game but that is due to a bug.

Current behavior in the video game is that Hasty Augmentation boosts all instances of Volatile Wiring damage, but only while Hasty Augmentation is in play.  I shot a message to Handelabra, but no word yet on whether this is a bug or deliberate behavior.

Anyhow, NinjaMonkey, you mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger.  Also, any 1-round damage puzzle that doesn't include Scholar is probably not the maximum you could reach.

[note:  I'm optimizing for O-X's damage here, and ignoring any potential damage other heroes could deal]

Team:  O-X, Scholar, AA, GL, Unity

O-X's turn:
Play Technological Advancement for an equipment.
Use Volitile Wiring, play Technological Advancement for an equipment (2 equipment in play).
Draw a card (5 cards in hand)

Scholar:
O-X plays Technological Advancement for an equipment (3 equip, 6 cards)
AA plays Alacritous Subdominant

Unity plays Hasty Augmentation on AA.  AA uses the Harp to play Inspiring Supertonic, and heal.
Unity puts Hasty Augmentation back on top of her library
GL plays Bolster Allies.  Unity redraws Hasty Aug (AA 4 cards, O-X 8 cards)  [note:  O-X has 14 equipment total.  Currently, 6 are in play, and 7 are in your hand, and 1 is in the deck where you can't get to it.  O-X's last card in hand is Singularity]
Skip Power Use
Draw a card

AA:
Play Silver Shadow into Instrumental Conjuration for Xu's Bell.  Inventive Preparation on O-X (AA 3 cards, O-X 7 equip)
Use Harp for Subdominant to play Syncopated Onslaught, then Subdominant to use Bell to activate Onslaught, then use Subdominant to use Lyra, play Silver Shadow into Subdominant, use original Subdominant to use Vocalize to use Supertonic on O-X, then Preparation on O-X (9 equip)
Draw a card (1 card in hand)

Legacy:
Play Inspiring Presence
Use Gung-Ho on AA.  AA uses Harp for Supertonic, O-X using Wiring (10 equip), Subdominant to use Bell, Onslaught then Subdominant to use Lyra to use Subdominant on O-X (11 equip) and Preparation on Unity (Scrap Metal)
Draw a card

Unity:
Start of Turn play Hasty Augmentation on AA.  AA uses Lyra to use Supertonic to use Bell to use Onslaught, then Preparation twice on O-X (13 equip in play)
Play Hasty Augmentation.  O-X uses Volatile Wiring, and plays Singularity, destroying 13 equipment (and AA's 3 instruments).  There are 5 Wiring triggers per equipment, and each trigger is 2 damage + 2 (Hasty Augmentation) + 3 (Syncopated Onslaught) + 1 Inspiring Presence = 8 damage.  That's 1358 damage, or a total of 520 damage.  Then Singularity deals 16+4 = 20 damage, for a grand total of 540 fire damage.

If in fact the current behavior in the video game is a bug, then this isn't quite as high, only 1 trigger will get the Hastey Augmentation boost, and you'll only deal 1346 + 13*8 + 20 = 436 damage.  Still pretty good.

It's possible that this could be tweaked to optimize it further, but I'm done now.  If you want to take it further, I forgot about Scholar's second Proverbs and Axioms, with which you could almost certainly get O-X's last equipment out, and possibly do even more schenanigans.

My hats off to you sir. That is just mind boggling. With the requirement that a villain must be a target on round 1, I'm thinking the only villain who could survive that onslaught would be Omnitron with an Adaptive Plating Subroutine.

I think we could probably alter AA's plays to get some ongoing destruction out without losing more than 336 damage :P

Of course, if you're hitting Omnitron with that, O-U would get a nemesis bonus to each hit.....

It might not be a bug.

If that power deals damage, increase that damage by 2.

That's a conditional static effect.

If "that damage" refers to damage dealt by the power you select, then it is working properly.  While Hasty Augmentation is in play, damage dealt by the selected power will be increased by 2.

That's how I think it should work, because "that damage" refers to damage dealt by "that power".

It's also thematically cool that Unity can be amazing with Omnitron-U in a way that seems broken, because she built him.

Need to get a second OX deck and play out his incap.
