What are some combinations of villain and environment people have had fun with?

I don't really have a lot of favorites, and I mostly remember the environments that messed me up - like Realm of Discord and La Capitan, and not having any environment destruction. Things were great until La Capitan got some targets out and the environment played Claustrophobic Delusion. It went through like four distortions in a row but once it got that one, other distortions stopped coming out.

Thematically, I enjoyed Grand Warlord Voss in Megalopolis, mainly because it reminded me of the Battle of New York.

So really, I am asking thematically (although there are threads about that already) and especially mechanically.

I like that a fight vs Akash on Mars doesn't go well for the earth spirit. Not many targets.

Oddly, the Earth Spirit can do great in The Block.  And probably the Enclave of Endings.

I just had a pretty great one against Omnitron in Magmaria.  There's a lot of harmless, high-HP targets, so it's east to get complacent... and then Terraforming Beam turns them all into evil robots.  Fun!  Freedom Tower could probably be similar.

Akash at the enclave and either omnitron at omnitron IV are great fights that turn medium power Villains into absolute nightmares. Matriarch at Freedom tower is pretty interesting as well.

The Chairman in Rook City. He’ll make you cry.

I really want to fight Omnitron inside Omnitron-IV. I haven't done it yet because reasons.

Anything in Rook City makes me cry.

Heh, try Omni-10 (and others) versus Omnitron in Omnitron IV. And umm...don't expect it to go amazingly well for your heroes ;).

Ra in Insula Primalis is fun once the volcano comes out, as long as you have Flesh of the Sun God >:).

Akash'Bhuta in the Freedom Tower is relatively easy as there are no environment targets at all. Contrast with somewhere like the Final Wasteland where nearly every card is a target.

Rook City in general is a nasty, nasty place nd tends to bump up the difficulty level no matter who you're fighting. Megalopolis can be a different kind of difficult because of all the "You can't do X" cards it has that can turn what looked like a relatively straightforward win into a horrible wipe (yes, I've been there, aaaages ago...we were against Dawn, I believe) :P.

Yeah, I can't tell you how many games have turned disastrous because of two Hostage Situations popping up in a row.

The Matriarch in Atlantis is horrible but thematic as the birds can't fly well in cramped tunnels.

Apostate in the Final Wasteland is really interesting. It's like he got to destroy the world, but the monsters are still opposing him to the bitter end.

No one wants to mention Voss in either MDP or Dok'Thrath with all those extra "minions"?

Not sure if I played it correctly, but I believe I did.  I had Dark Watch Nightmist, Infinite Scholar, and the Hunted Naturalist against Bugbear, Biomancer, and Greezer in the Court of Blood environment.  Scholar got taken out early as was Biomancer, Greezer went down just before the Naturalist and Nightmist was hanging by a thread.  I forget the name of the card, but Nightmist turned into her mist form and Bugbear only could try and hit her.  The vampires eventually took him down enough that Nightmist came out of her form and landed the finishing blow.  I never thought I would be grateful for the help of vampires.

Thematically for me its Spite in Rook City.

Oh, wait, you said had fun with.

Iron Legacy in Wagner Mars Base. Gotta love a perfectly timed meteor storm giving K.N.Y.F.E. several rounds to build up for a one-shot kill against one of the, if not the, hardest villains in the game.

I totally intend to play Omnitron-X vs. Omnitron in Omnitron-IV but I'd rather do that with other players because it seems like a lot to keep track of.

Megalopolis can be annoying, but I do enjoy playing in it.

Matriarch in Final Wasteland is hilarious and fun.

Is that because of the target-rich environment?

That plus Unforgiving Wasteland eating her birds before she can get effects from them.  And the flavor text on Skunkape.  I about died laughing the first time we played that fight.

Ahh yes, I've done that game - not long after Shattered Timelines cameout I deliberately fought Lilian in the Final Wasteland and we got so lucky with the cards it put out - if I remember rightly the first one was a Horrid Skunk Ape, then Unforgiving Wasteland, then the Bunker and the Library (can't remember which way round). I think the card after that was an Abominable Snowman or something but by that point the game was practically over >:). The only target remaining in Lilian's deck by the time we finished kicking her arse was a single Carrion Field we'd destroyed ourselves earlier in the game. Everything else was sitting in a nice little pile off to the edge of the table :D.
