It's designed to fit all the cards when sleeved. Therefore, there should be enough room for a few extra decks if you don't sleeve. How many? I don't know, but the math shouldn't be too hard now that we know all the dimensions.
...except that we don't know how many more (!) decks we'll be getting yet. In any case, the four foam blocks give some rough guide. Weight will become more of a concern, however.

Does anyone know if the case will be sold separately post-Kickstarter? I think I may want one eventually, but at the moment, I can really only afford to back a lower reward tier.

We hope to get it into distribution after the Kickstarter, but there's no way to guarantee that any gaming stores will want to pick up an empty box, so this Kickstarter is the surest way to get the Ultimate Collector's Case.
That Ultimate Box looks pretty frikin' fantastic. The maths seem to uphold the idea that the big spaces in the top are big enough to handle my oversized accessories, although whether it'll be deep enough for everything is still a question. Still, that update got an additional $55 bucks out of my pocket. Well done, GtG!
Also, I'd previously thought that Completionist Guise alt was something everyone gets, but it sure looks like only Ultimate Box people will get him. That's kind of a shame, but also makes some sense, I guess.
In the Comments GTG said that Guise will be in the promo and foil packs
Thats not true. He comes with the variant pack and a few other places. Chrisopher had a comment on the KS stating the different places out side the BOX where you get Comp Guise.

The only reason I'm not getting the box is that I wouldn't be able to lift it.
Doing arithmetic on whether or not my sleeved cards will fit.
I have been using Fantasy Flight Clear Sleeves for Standard Card Games. These are listed as being 63.5x88 MM, but in fact vary. Still, measurements show that they will have no problem fitting into the 70x100MM space.
The remaining question is whether the four drawers will be long enough to accommodate them. For me, a hero deck takes up 27 MM, a villain deck takes up 18 MM, a V-style deck takes up 13 MM, and an environment deck takes up 10 MM.
Before OblivAeon, there were 26 hero decks. We are so far set to get 11 more, for a total of 37 hero decks. Each drawer is 435 MM long, so can hold 16 hero decks. If I'm willing to compress them to 25 MM, I could squeeze 17 hero decks in one drawer. There are two hero deck drawers, so I could get 34 hero decks into them. So, three short, but maybe there's room in the other drawers.
There are 23 villain decks and 15 V-style decks. I could fit 24 villain decks into a villain drawer, so the 23 villain decks would fit with 21 MM left over. The V-style decks would go in the 4th drawer with 240 MM to spare. There are 22 environment decks before OblivAeon and two more announced. Those 24 environment decks would take up ... 240 MM.
SO ... As of right now it looks like the box would hold everything but three heroes.
That also doesn't count the two spare copies of the Legacy deck I like to keep around just in case.
I'm wondering if my car can fit in it!

I wondered when someone would check that out. Not a good sign to me if it can't fit three hero decks already when sleeved since I have to imagine any more stretch goals will include more decks.
I would actually like to know how many UNsleeved cards can fit in the box. Has anyone done that math anywhere? Would be amazing if, without sleeving them, I was able to fit all the SotM cards AND fan expansions as well. (The one we all know and love ideally :D)
We are going to get a white samples of the box (hopefully in a month or so!) and play around with it. We'll make any necessary tweaks to the dimensions at that time; we will be getting a few common kinds of sleeves and sleeving up enough cards for the whole game and putting them in the box to make sure that the game fits in most sleeves with a little bit of extra wiggle room.
The top trays were specifically made with things like Spiff's accessories in mind, so I am glad that you like it and think that they will fit!
As for fan made decks, I have no idea how many will fit; it will largely depend on if you sleeve, etc. It isn't something we are going to consider when fine-tuning the box.
Stupid question but, I'm only counting seven new hero decks. Five in ObliVAeon and two mini-expansions. What are the other four decks?

This really puts the scale of the Kickstarter into perspective for me.
Presumably we'll get some villains or villain-like decks with OblivAeon, and you're not counting those, correct?
I am fairly certain the Cauldron fits unsleeved with about 350 mm to spare. This calculation includes all the revealed Oblivaeon decks. For those that sleeve, there is quite a bit of potential room in the upper section for more decks if you were to fabricate some inexpensive dividers. By my math each large upper bin can hold 3 decks by 3 decks, for a total of 540 mm extra card storage. Using this space of course necessitates moving the rule books elsewhere, but it may be worth it for some.
I'm having a hard time choosing what I want. I can either afford the $84 pledge with both promos and foil character cards or the $109 promos + ultimate collector's case. I know they want it to be available in retail so I could probably justify getting the foil cards and buy the box later. But I'm having a hard time justifying the foil cards to myself and I want to make absolutely certain I get the box.
What I want is another $30 so this is no longer a dilemma. :D

No word yet, but They are not sure if Retailers are willing to carry an empty box, so they urge people to get it now.
I would expect 60 is the retail price, given that GTG sells things on KS at retail. It's possible you might get it through a online retailer at a discount but with such a relatively niche item I don't know that it would be carried widely outside the GtG store
In this case, though, they've said it might end up needing to be more at retail.
I wish the box was bigger. I love this game, and because I want it to last, I double sleeve my cards with KMC perfect fits inner and KMC Hyper Matte Clear outer. This way I can get maximum protection, and I can enjoy the awesome artwork on both sides of the cards.
Unfortunately, the box would have to be 5-7" longer, or tall enough for one more row of drawers to accomodate the thickness of double sleeves. I realize that I'm on the extreme end of sleeving, and people who don't sleeve would have a box with waaaayyy too much empty space. My solution will probably end up being the Ultimate Collectors Cases for everything except the Vengence Villains, and maybe a few less played environments and villains in one of the core boxes.
Still crossing my fingers that it will be slightly larger though.... 1.5 million stretch goal anyone :)
Paul as a request since you guys are going to be testing several different sleeves to make sure they will work with the box, can you please keep track and maybe make a post somewhere, maybe even with the collectors case listing the sleeves you have tested and that do work? This way those of us who havent brought sleeves but plan to know what we can buy that will work. Dont want to spend 50-100 dollars on sleeves to find out that they wont all fit.
Perhaps you can workout something to get 2 of the ultimate boxes.
Wow, the cost for all of these sleeves would cost way more than the games themselves. I am not judging (I did the same for my Mage Knight cards), I wish I could do that as well.
I didn't account for dividers, and I didn't count anything for villain-like decks.
With dividers, I think 16 hero decks can fit in a drawer, so there's two more hero decks with nowhere to go (5 total). One of the villain drawers had some extra space, but the other may not be able to fit all the V+ style villains and all the environments with the dividers. That's about 118 MM
I've little idea what the new villain or villain-like decks might be or how many of them there will be. The price point for the game is similar to the core game, which has 578 cards. So far, all we have announced as part of OblivAeon are five heroes and two environments. If there are as many more cards as there are the remaining decks in core (5 heroes, 2 environments, 4 villains), we talking another 335 cards, or about 200MM more.
So, a total of 318 more MM. Spread across four drawers, that's 80MM each, which would extend the box back to over 515 MM.
Even before those extensions this is going to be one serious chunk of box. With that extension, it would be roughly the volume of six of the core box: 1.5 wide by two long and two tall.
That doesn't surprise me. I currently have all the heroes and villains in a briefcase that's about the size of two of the core boxes, the V-style villains are in Vengeance and the environments are in Villains. The tokens are in the briefcase. That's roughly the volume of four of the core box and we're getting 11 more heroes, two more environments, plus who knows how many more villain, villain-like, and environment decks.
The key is to buy in bulk and spread it out over the course of several months. I like to bring SoTM to my weekly boardgame club and some of the younger folks were a little too careless with the cards for my taste. I love the game and I want it to last, so I use my monthly boardgame budget toward sleeves when I can get a good deal.
Or have a pledge level (or whatever the kickstarter term is) to add on an additional ultimate box. This way those of us that are crazy and have seperate decks for the promos would have plenty of room :)
I just noticed something which could make the Ult. Box problematic for holding all of my oversized accessories. The drawer for oversized villain cards is partitioned into four spaces, two of which are 115mm deep and two are 103mm deep. I had originally thought that drawer would be the place to hold the oversized hero cards which are about 4x6 (same size as a GtG-official oversized villain card). But because mine have a hp dial inside them, they're much thicker than the flat GtG oversized villain cards. This wouldn't be a problem if the entire space could be used to fan them out so that they're not stacking vertically on top of each other but can splay out for the entire length of the tray. But if they have to stack directly on top of each other in four constrained spaces, much fewer of them will fit in that drawer.
@GtG - are those pieces which partition the drawer into four spaces removable, or are they a permanent part of the drawer construction?
Spiff - I don't think they were intending the drawer for the oversize accessories. I think that is what the top storage areas indicated for story mode printouts, rulebooks, etc, would be for. Those should be wide enough to fan out the cards with HP dials (based on my experience of keeping mine in an old Shattered Timelines box
Unfortunately, the news that the ultimate collector's case will hold all the cards sleeved came a little too late for anyone who, like myself, already pledged the kickstarter. Is there a way to upgrade a kickstarter pledge once it's made, or should I just give up on that case?
Click on manage pledge and change the level.
Find your pledge level on the kickstarter page. If you mouse over it, you will see the words "Manage your pledge." Click on it. You will be taken to a login page and then to a page that lists all of the pledges. Click the button for the new pledge level you want, and then click the "continue" button that appears on the selected pledge.
That may be what I need to do, however those top storage areas will need to house the big villain and environment mats as well, which is why I liked the fact that there was a drawer that was just the right size for the oversized hero cards.
It would be silly for GtG to go through too many contortions to accomodate my accessories, I'm just gathering info.
I just noticed that the rear compartment of the oversized drawer are just about the right size to hold more cards. That would give another 320mm of space, although in a rather awkward place (and you'd have to put the tokens elsewhere).
idn't they say the Void Gaurd will be a box set. This means we will have the big black box and a small one for teh Void gaurd? I mean that is 164 card that probably was not accounted for when they made that box. I am happy just putting what ever doesn't fit into another box.
Whether or not it was planned for is irrelevant since the dimensions aren't finalized anyways. They confirmed earlier in the topic they'll be tweaking things in the near future to be safe.
I would imagine it will be a boxed set for retail, either a large blister pack like hte other mini expansions or a smaller box than Wrath of the Cosmos size. Either way, I am sure they are accounted for to fit into the big box
Oh! That's really interesting. It's not just the rear compartments, either. All four of the compartments are wide enough, it's just that the front two, designed for the oversized cards, are wider than needed. If all of the oversize cards fit in the first compartment, that could be 3x160 MM available.
We won't know how useful that is until we know how many cards are actually in OblivAeon, but it's promising.
NOW, the next thing I'm seriously worried about: How are we going to carry this behemoth?! I think it's going to need some super sturdy handles.
Well, I'm going to be sewing myself a padded and extremly sturdy bag for it, because that's how I roll, but you could probably fashion a kind of harness for the box out of bag strap or even seat belt material with a lot less sewing.
First of all, I am going to need to see that box in person, though, because my brain can't even imagine it right now- it just blows my mind!

In case anyone's curious, Sentinels currently weighs about 22lbs/10kg. So, yeah, the box is going to have to be pretty sturdy.
I keep swaying back and forth between thinking I won't use the box (it doesn't seem very practical to carry, will take a lot of room on the shelves, if it even fits on one) and thinking I should get two (I use doubles of a few decks for promos and have quite a bit of home-brewed stuff that probably won't fit comfortably in one case)

I guess I'll be the odd man out and say I wish it didn't fit sleeved cards, just the actual SotM items. It would be big enough already, and now I'm going to have a giant box that's half empty. I have to do some measurements based on the dimensions they released, but if it doesn't fit in the place I'd store it, I might need to downgrade my pledge and just keep items spread out over multiple game boxes.
They are including foam blocks to keep things in place for those not sleeving.
I'm one of the people with thick sleeves hoping that the box will hold them, but I am very sympathetic to this point. If GtG took the stance that they were going to make a box that was perfect for people who didn't sleeve and that meant I had to buy two of those boxes, I wouldn't mind. As long as the 'face' of my sleeved cards fits, then the fact that all the cards don't fit into the ultimate box isn't so bad. Mind you, I'd rather they did fit, I just wouldn't be shocked or put out if GtG had gone a different direction here.
Yeah, I'm a sleever and I share this sentiment… especially since all the stuff I'd probably put in there won't fit in one anyway. But… I imagine we are a rather small percentage of sleever who feel this way. It is one of the most common things requested, nay… demanded out of games these days. On a game with a few cards as part of a larger game it is a rather reasonable request I think, but in a game that is ALL cards and where accommodating sleeves requires a 50% increase in size, I think it's a bit much. The ability to just buy a second container would probably be a good compromise.
While I don't sleeve and would definitely enjoy a box that didn't have that much extra space, because I have things like my extra Legacy decks (now up to 3), my own hero, villain, and environment, my own tokens, etc., I'm okay with there being extra space.
Plus, who knows what I might want to put in there in the future...

Odd; I only got about 15-16 pounds when I measured my collection. Granted, I'm missing some of the earlier promos and the new overzied villain pack, but other than that, I have everything that's out so far that's directly related to the card game.
Everything as of last April but three mini-expansions (one hero, one villain, one environment) weighed 16 pounds/7.3 kg. Villains of the Multiverse weighed 2.7 pounds/1.22 kg on its own - but I got Oversized Villains, Tribunal, and Chokepoint separately. I got those numbers from Fed Ex.
I don't have anything I can weigh the complete game on, though.
I have another question about the case - Would it have room for the 5th Anniversary Foil Hero Collection? I looked at the Case and it says it has room for the oversized villain cards, but there weren't any information about if it'll hold the oversized hero cards. Another thing that made me a bit suspicious is the fact the the 5th Anniversary Foil Hero Collection is a limited one-time kind of thing, so it might not be taken into consideration while designing the box. I sure do plan on using those oversized hero cards, and I'll rather not carry two boxes around

Also, How are you planning on carrying the case? I know this question was asked as a joke but I am serious. For me, the weight is not a problem, I'll man up. but a bag of some sort could be comfortable to carry it. either by haing handles, or even better, a backpack that I can carry on my back, or maybe a duffle bag. Ronway mentioned the GTG Tote Bag but I am unsure about how strong the bag is, or if it is big enough for the ultimate case. Are there measurements for this bag? It sure would be nice walking around with the GTG logo. It would feel a bit more complete like that.
I don't think the foil collection is oversized. The cards are the same size as previous hero character cards.
If you don't sleeve there's a lot of extra space. I am not sure how it breaks down with sleeves, however.
Thank you, this does help. In the comment about the case it says that theres room for variants. it's more reassuring then not seeing room for them mensioned at all. If the hero cards are not oversized then I'm pretty sure that there will be enough room. Too bad, though, I really hoped for oversized hero cards and thought that the foil ones are. My mistake, then. (I'm still going to get them all).

This was exactly my thinking. While I do have the Cauldron sets to think of too, I still don't think it will even fit in my game cabinet, so just keeping them spread out over several boxes is going to be the best option. I down-graded my plegde already. Still not sure I won't get it, but more sure I won't than that I will.
I haven't sleeved my cards but I'm still going to get the case. I'll have four blocks with the case + five more from the base game and RC+IR so that will help pad things out.
Plus I may very well decide to sleeve them later.
I don't sleeve, yet I might in the future. I really don't have many of the promos, yet geting them all here, Villians and Holiday pack only. I don't have the Cauldron, yet I was gonna order it when 2 news items made me decide to wait. (the Oblivaeon announcement and the possible news coming down the DTCards pipeling re: Cauldron) I'm kinda hoping that Cauldron will fit without sleeves, and if it doesn't then I will sleeve for sure. I want the box for at least 2 reasons: 1 my box for the base game has seen better days, and >Games can have an extra chunk of my cash for the awesome stuff they're promising and I want to contribute the most I can. Heck, if I hat $400, I'd get the whole enchilada.
You got that right, brother. Imma keep making oversized hero cards until they kick down my door and make me stop (though just asking me nicely to stop would probably be easier).
In fact, as long as I can get my hands on the art, I plan on making a whole new set of oversized hero cards for all of the promos using the new art. I won't print them all out myself since they'll just be duplicates of hero trackers I already have, but I'm sure I'll want to swap out some of them (looking at you, Young Legacy), and I'd love to post them for others to use too.
Where do you pick up your Hyper Mattes in bulk? I have been looking for a good deal.
I have a duffel bag that I use to carry all of my Sentinels stuff. Once I get the collectors case, I will probably still be using the duffel bag
So I thought of a question that maybe those who are more inclined to measuring stuff might be able to answer: will the drawers fit the old dividers, or are the new dividers simply colorful and would lie flush with the cards? I really like being able to look at the sea of tabs and browse everything that way...

They're going to be thicker and sturdier than the old dividers so the old dividers will fit.
Does anyone k ow the dimensions of the regular boxes? I am out of the country for a few months and don't have my cards. Trying to decide if this box is even going to fit in my game cabinet.
I just measured my vengeance box and got 290mm by 201mm by 81mm. My base set box is very slightly smaller, just enough smaller that the lids can't be interchanged.
