An open Legacy plea to Christopher and Adam

I know. I know this won't work. You don't have to tell me. But I'm going to beg anyway.

The world we live in is filled with people and actions that are, on their best day, morally ambiguous. And it's incredibly draining. Sometimes its hard to live in that world. For years now, I've loved the Sentinels universe because, at least the way I've read, watched, interpreted and loved the universe, it's not that way. The good guys are good, and the bad guys are bad. Except when the bad guys are REALLY bad, and then even the bad guys are good ;) Nobody has embodied this for me more than Legacy. Somehow the >G crew has managed to stuff all of the good-heartedness, earnestness, do-the-right thing-iness of Captain America and Superman into Legacy, with (at least for me), none of the campiness, cheesiness, or outright jingoism that either has, at times. Maybe it's the fact that Legacy is a Dad, and so that makes some of the earnestness, patience and desire to see the world as a good place a bit more understandable, I don't know. Seeing Legacy art just makes me think that the world could be a better place.

But, for me at least, no art that I've seen in Sentinels more embodies this than Legacy on "America's Cleverest Legacy". I can just see Legacy sitting down to do the crossword in the living room, still in his costume, but having put on a shirt and his glasses to minimize the "Legacy-ness" a bit. In walks a teenage Beacon, who earnestly (she is a Legacy, after all, even if she is a teenager) rolls her eyes. "Daddy! Can't you change out of your costume? I have FRIENDS coming over! It's EMBARASSING!" Legacy looks up, confused for a second as to how this could possibly be an issue, and then says "But, sweetheart, I'm SUPER at crosswords, I have to wear my costume!" All while smiling that America's Cleverest Legacy smile, with you left wondering if he is just taking the chance to good-heartedly needle his beloved daughter some, or if he could really, actually believe that.

Maybe it's just me - but I love seeing Legacy this way. That's why I'm asking, even though we've already been told "no", no, begging that you reconsider making America's Cleverest Legacy a real-life promo. Even if you have to change his (admittedly pretty over-the-top) power. I'd just love to see that part of Legacy, the part that I've always imagined, actually be a part of the in-game universe. Even if he just showed up with this art in some other card, not in a promo. Please, please use that art - for me it just sums up all of Legacy.

I am sorry to intrude in your beautiful plea, but, if there is no promo card, I'd like to suggest a Cleverest Legacy t-shirt.

They've said several times it's not happening, it was just a little Easter egg reward for the ARG. Sorry, but I'll be extremely surprised if they go back on that.

I love this letter and the forlorn quest that it represents.

EDIT: I especially love the explicit acknowledgement that the quest is hopeless.

Why is it hopeless?  We're already getting a bajillion hero alts, why not throw Cleverest Legacy into the mix and print it?  The incremental cost can't be high.

I respect Christopher's story-vision for Legacy (all promos being different Parsons), and I wouldn't want him to change anything story-related that he has such a firm view on, but I have to agree that the art on the Cleverest Legacy card is amazing and exemplifies all the delightful things mentioned by Maynes32.

Has anyone tried his base power out? I'm really curious what it's like and I foolishly decided not to bring my cards to college.

It breaks Dawn, Omnitron, and Voss, since you can insta-gib them with a lucky reveal.  Also can insta-flip Skinwalker Gloomweaver.  Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.  He can seriously cripple Kismet, Angry Paul, and any other Villain that heavily relies on a single card type or has multiple common keywords among their ongoings/devices/etc.

That's why he's been errata'd.

Maybe it will be the $1 million stretch goal. I mean, if we give them a million bucks, how could they say no?

By giving us something superior at one million dollars. After all, 750k and the 1 million are 250k more than the previous stretch goal, so they have to be something super awesome!

I honestly thing that a second comic book (probably Cosmic Constest) is at 750 or 1 mil. But yea I would love to see Cleverest. The way I see it, Cleverest doesn't break the 'every Legacy is a different Parsons' rule because Cleverest is from a different timeline and thus is not the same Parsons as Finest Legacy.

My current guesses are that $750k is another comic and $1M is the story bible.

I would love to see the promo be an official one too.   Though I also fully expected in the KS that we would be getting a lot of promo hero cards and not quite so many full hero decks.  

I would be surprised if we get both of these. I would hope that either $750K or $1M would be another comic or the bible, but I think we're unlikely to get two. Didn't they say somewhere that one funding level would be improvements to the box? Or am I making that up?

The 70k stretch goal added foam blocks to the collector box. 150k added a promo and tokens to the box. That's two boc improvements thus far.

I, too, want to second that they really should do a Cleverest Legacy card. It fits the deck so well, it fits the personality so well, and it IS a different person, so it isn't breaking that rule. 

Even if they just fixed the errata'd bit and then drew/posted a back, I'd be happy to print it myself. It's just so delightful. And with all the money people are putting there way right now, surely there is a demand for ALL THE THINGS!

We just  love it all, is what we're saying. Stop teasing us!

Or the 1 million strech goal will be a new promo : Ultimate Legacy, the last Legacy from the far future. Power : another hero takes a full turn now.

Feels a little underpowered for Legacy, doesn't it?

Just because OblivAeon is slated to be the final box expansion, there is always the possibility of later single decks being added it Christopher gets the itch to do so.

Believe me, this is saying something for Legacy, but I think that you may have gone too far in the other direction, Foote. I think that power is one step away from "Power: Alter the whole known universe to be in the image target player desires."

Much though I would also love that power.

I don't want to start a new thread, so I'll post here instead.

I recalled the reason for officially printing Cleverest Legacy was given something along the line of "Every Legacy promo is a different person".

However, with the latest 1million Freedom Five stretch goal on Kickstarter, this is no longer true. The "current Legacy" is represented twice.

So, I guess it's alright to print Cleverst Legacy as an official promo now, right, right?

Not quite.  The official reason for not printing Cleverest Legacy as far as I know was more or less "He was only intended to be part of the ARG."  While it's true that they said that they liked having every Legacy be different, I don't recall that ever being listed as the primary reason that he wasn't being printed.

couldnt it be an alternate universe legacy? Or a great grandson?  I understand it wouldn't push the story forward any but does Completionist guise? Guise might be an exception though…lol
